I really like that Eric The Red/Prince Kharis team. I've been teaming Kharis with Mikey Whipwreck. .... Mr The Red is going to need a lot of window dressing to succeed. I'm going to try him with Mummy and Hugh Morrus and decide which is the better fit, but either way having James Mitchell at ringside should help.

CWA WRESTLINGw/the great Lance Russell Lance opened the show with the announcement of the big tag team title match tonight between the wannabe Rockers and the champs the Rock N Roll Express. Jimmy Hart came out and said he's sick to his stomach that Eddie Marlin named Austin Idol the number one contender to the Southern title. He proclaimed the family back on track because Ox Baker is here and he's going to make sure Idol doesn't make it to the title match. Brickhouse Brown beat Hank Boomhauer.Nice old fashioned squash match. Brown got the impressive win with the FLYING BODY PRESS. Koko B Ware joined Brickhouse at ringside after the match. He said Brown was in another preliminary match yet again and he had the featured match next week and a prime spot this week. He warned Brown better smarten up or he's going to be on the undercard for good.
After the break, Lance introduced a video for a pair getting ready to come BACK to the area, The Moondogs.
Brad Armstrong joined Lance to discuss what happened last week with the Gilberts and Tracy Smothers. He said every time he thinks he's done with this family they just escalate the situation. Well, he wasn't here last week but he's here now so Eddie can get in the ring and get what's coming to him. Eddie Gilbert (w/Doug Gilbert) beat Brad Armstrong with the HOT SHOT.Once again, two Gilberts are better than one opponent. Doug interfered liberally when Brad was tossed out of the ring, leading to the eventual pin. Brad went over to Lance after the match and challenged the Gilberts to come back next week and fight him and a partner two on two in a tag team match. The Gilberts said they're on a roll that can't be stopped and no matter who Brad brings he doesn't stand a chance. Dr Tom Prichard (w/Randy Rose) defeated Koko B Ware. And AGAIN we learn that a tag team partner at ringside makes all the difference. Koko got tossed out of the ring and Rose hit him with a chair then tossed him back inside for the Doctor's "Superkick" ENZUGIRI for the pin. Dutch Mantell was ringside with Lance after the match to laugh about the result. He asked Koko how it feels after Ware hit him with a chair in their match last week. He said by the looks of it Koko is 0-2 the past few weeks and may need to get his attitude in check. Brickhouse Brown came out angry and got in Dutch's face. He said maybe Koko is right about a few of the things he's said in private and maybe it is time for some attitude checks, but not the way Dutch has in mind. Rock N Roll Express beat The New Rockers to defend the Southern tag team titles. Very good match. In the end Robert pinned Marty after the DOUBLE DROPKICK in about five minutes. Following the match Leif and Marty argued about whether Leif could have come in for the save or not, nearly came to blows, but ended up hugging it out to the fans disgust. Austin Idol beat Ox Baker in a bloody brawl. Both men were wearing the crimson mask at the end of this one. A long and grueling affair that Idol ended up winning with the LAS VEGAS LEGLOCK. After the bell Angelo Mosca ran out and attacked Idol. He stomped and kicked away and ended by flooring him with a running forearm.
Jimmy Hart said his stable continues to evolve and grow and there's no way anyone will be able to stand up to what he has planned, especially now that "Big Nasty" is in the fold.

AWA ALL STAR WRESTLINGLarry Nelson with the show open and announcement of the big matches for tonight, including BARON VON RASCHKE versus LARRY HENNIG in an American title match qualifier and the main event, number one contender to the world heavyweight champion BRUISER BRODY versus ALEXIS SMIRNOFF. Brody came out to talk about Bockwinkel again, but was interrupted by Smirnoff. He said he'd beat Brody later but first he wants to send a warning to Jim Brunzell and Tony Atlas for tonight. Because the Sheik has sent a special mercenary to help take them out of the way and lead the Russians to the AWA tag team title. Brody of course took exception to being interrupted and the two brawled out of the studio. Mad Dog Vachon (w/Butcher Vachon) beat Ric McCord in a rematch.McCord was looking to make it two in a row, and hung in admirably. In the end Mad Dog hit the Mad Dog Pounce for the pinfall. Back in the studio with Larry Nelson talking to Sherri Martel, Buddy Rose, and Doug Somers. Rose said the Long Riders will be the short champs just like the Hangmen because Rose and Somers get the first shot. Sherri told Larry she has her men primed and ready and they will NOT disappoint her. Doug was there too, but didn't have much to say. Jumpin Jim Brunzell won by disqualification over Steve Regal when Abdullah The Butcher interfered.A good five minute bout was ended when Abby ran out and attacked Brunzell as he had the sleeper on Regal. Tony Atlas entered the ring to help his partner and it was pandemonium in the building as referees and security tried to restore order. The Trooper won by disqualification over Masa Saito when Zbyszko interferred.Trooper had the BIG PINCH locked in when Larry came in to break it up. Trooper knocked Larry over the top rope with a clothesline and sent Saito out of the ring for good measure. Trooper spoke to Ken Resnick in the ring after the match. He said everyone can see how the law breakers are running roughshod over the AWA and he wants Stanley Blackburn to do something about it. He wants Larry in a cage and he wants something done to prevent all the outside interference and rule breaking. Larry The Axe Hennig beat Baron Von Raschke with THE AXE.Hennig attacked at the bell, but Baron got the better of the exchange. Baron was on a roll, at one point hitting three back suplexes in a row before signaling for the Claw. Hennig went to the ropes and Baron sent him crashing to the floor with a big overhead forearm (out of the ring). Baron got the better of a brawl on the floor and tossed Hennig back into the ring. He went for a big sledgehammer off the second rope (deathjump) but got caught with an AXE coming down for a near fall. Hennig followed up with the traditional version of the move for the pin. Bruiser Brody pinned Alexis Smirnoff.
Brody and Alexis fought it out with Brody getting the better of things. Brody stomped and brawled his way to a win after the JUMPING KNEE DROP in about four minutes. After the bell Abdullah The Butcher was out to attack Brody. However, Brunzell and Atlas were there just as fast to meet him. The other Russian Boris entered the fray and Brody, Altas, and Brunzell fought with Abby, Alexis, and Boris all over the building and out of the arena.
As the dust settled, manager of the NWA world champion Bobby The Brain Heenan appeared and got in the ring with Ken Resnick. He said that's a shining example of why Brody is not fit to be NWA champion and will never be the champ. He's unfocused, he's out of control, and he doesn't have the discipline of Nick Bockwinkel. Resnick accused him of being the one to hire Abdullah but Heenan said that type of thing is not his style. He said he's spoken to his "good friend" and fellow independently wealthy mastermind and he WILL be here to reveal himself next week. Heenan said he's advised this man on how to run the AWA in the absence of "The Brain" as he travels the world with the champ and the world will be shocked because he's just getting started.

World Championship Wrestlingas always, with your hosts Tony and David Kicking off the show with Tony and David joined by Jimmy Valiant, Thunderbolt Patterson, and US champ Tommy Rich. Tommy said there's a new challenger on the horizon and he thinks he's going to come into Wildfire's territory and take over but he's got another think coming. Jimmy told Tommy he heard Rick Rude last week and he's stepping right up to see what Rude is really made of. Thunderbolt was doing his Thunderbolt thing when Redd Dogg Rodney Mack stepped up to say T-bolt better understand that things between them aren't settled after their match in Norfolk, they're just getting started. Bolt replied that he could think of no better way to continue then to take it to the ring. Redd Dogg Rodney Mack defeated Thunderbolt Patterson after the help of Ivan Koloff.Patterson had things going his way when Ivan Koloff made his return and clobbered Thunderbolt in the back with the infamous steel chain on the floor. He rolled Patterson back inside for Rodney to hit the BLACK OUT for the pin. Following the match Ivan spoke. He said that, unlike Americans, he leaves no project unfinished and no comrades behind. Rodney was a fitting disciple and Ivan has come back from Mother Russia stronger and better than ever (I'm using the newer convention card now). He plans on teaching these techniques to Rodney and together they will take over the NWA. American Males beat Bill White and Keith Steinborn.Nothing much here but a showcase win for the Males. Bagwell pinned Keith with the YELLOW JACKET SUPLEX. Bob Backlund was out next with his advisor Arnold Skaaland. Tony said the International Invitational continues this week with a stiff challenge from Quebec in Jacques Rougeau. Bob replied that he intends to continue every week until he cannot be denied a shot at Nick Bockwinkel and the world heavyweight title. Bob Backlund defeated Jacques Rougeau.Jacques got a nice dropkick on Bob, but that was pretty much the highlight of his night. Bob handled Rougeau and got the win with the ATOMIC DROP. Kurt Angle came out next to discuss his debut win last week. He said there isn't any challenge the pros can throw him that he can't beat after winning the Olympic gold medal with a broken neck. Florida champ Jack Brisco came out to congratulate Kurt on his "nice little win", but to advise him to walk humbly into the ranks of the professionals or he might just GET humbled. Kurt didn't like that of course, but Jack said he's got to go to the ring to face a true professional and top contender for the Florida title but after that Kurt can come take it up with him anytime he likes. Jack Brisco won by countout over Brian Blair in a non-title match.Since this isn't Florida that title clearly could not be on the line in this special attraction match brought to you in association with Eddie Graham promotions. The men put on a mat clinic until Brisco used a gut wrench backbreaker and Blair rolled out of the ring and to the floor in serious pain. He could not meet the ten count and Brisco was awarded the match. Ravishing Rick Rude (w/Percy Pringle III) beat Jimmy Valiant. The Boogie Woogie Man brought the fire at the bell, peppering Rude with blows and throwing him into the corner to continue the assault. Rude quickly turned it around and softened Valiant with a swinging neckbreaker. A piledriver set up the RUDE AWAKENING and the pin. Rude and Pringle went over to Tony and David after the match to gloat. Pringle said Rich better polish up that US title because it's going around the waist of Rick Rude and there's nothing Rich can do about it. Tommy wasn't happy with that idea as you'd imagine and confronted the duo. Rich said he's faced every contender head on and won and this time will be no different. Rude countered that he's never faced a perfect specimen like Rick Rude and that skinny red neck is primed for a Rude Awakening.
....aaaannnnd with that, the fight was on. Rich and Rude fought all over the place as David screamed in delight and the show went off the air.

CWA Wrestlingw/ your host, Lance Russell Lance opened the show and was immediately interrupted once again by Jimmy Hart with his new protege, Angelo Mosca. Jimmy said King Kong put Austin Idol on the shelf and Southern champ Bill Dundee is next. Angelo Mosca demolished Frogman LeBlanc.Frogman had no answer for the barrage of offense from Mosca. Angelo hit a running forearm to the face and got the easy pin. Lance Russell welcomed Brett Wayne Sawyer, an exciting young wrestler visiting the territory from his home base in Portland. They were once AGAIN interrupted by Jimmy Hart and Mosca. Jimmy wanted to talk about Mosca's win but Lance said this was Sawyer's time. Mosca tried to intimidate Sawyer, asking if he saw what just happened to LeBlanc and what he did to Idol last week. Sawyer said he saw a dirty sneak attack and he wasn't impressed, but he's got a match to win next so they can talk another time. Brett Wayne Sawyer beat the Masked Rebel.Nice showcase win for Sawyer, who floored Rebel with a running clothesline for the pin. After the match Sawyer was attacked by Mosca and laid out cold with the running forearm to the face. After the break Dutch Mantell came out to talk to Lance. He said he's upset things have gotten out of hand with his interactions with Koko Ware and Brickhouse Brown and he just wants to make amends and be sure there are no hard feelings. Koko Ware and Brickhouse Brown entered the scene ahead of their tag team match and Koko said he thinks everyone understands each other perfectly well. He said there's no hard feelings, but there will be an understanding once everything is said and done. Koko B Ware and Brickhouse Brown beat Randy Rose and Tom Prichard. Koko got the pin on Rose after the MISSILE DROPKICK in an excellent tag team match full of action all over the ring and ringside area. Following the bell Koko grabbed a chair and wore out Rose and Prichard with it. Brickhouse grabbed the chair and Dutch Mantell ran into the ring to try to talk some sense into Koko. Instead it was Brickhouse who blasted Dutch with the chair and the winning duo walked away leaving the fans stunned and looking for answers. After the dust settled Southern champion Superstar Bill Dundee came out to talk to Lance. He said everything is in chaos lately but one things a constant and that's the southern champion Bill Dundee. He said Austin Idol is the rightful number one contender according to Eddie Marlin and Jimmy Hart can't just bring in a bully like Mosca and think jumping people from behind earns him a title match. He said first business is with Idol, then if Mosca or anyone else Jimmy throws at him can EARN a title match he'll take care of them, then it's on to another shot at Nick Bockwinkel and that NWA world title. Scott Taylor pinned Wolfie D.Exciting action here. Brian Christopher brawled around the ringside area and to the back with JC Ice while Taylor managed to come back and pin Wolfie. Following the decision Wolfie recovered and hit Taylor with the hubcap, splitting his forehead wide open and resulting in an injury (doubles rolled, feud chart result of "10", embellished for the scenario). Eddie Gilbert and Doug Gilbert out for the main event challenge match set up last week against Brad Armstrong and his partner. Eddie said he didn't want to waste any more time finding out who the unbeatable Gilberts were going to continue the win streak against. Brad came out and asked "Oh, you didn't know?" And with that Road Dogg BG James joined his brother and the brawl began at ringside. Brad Armstrong and Road Dogg BG James went to a no contest with Eddie and Doug Gilbert. The match never even officially got underway as the Armstrong brothers and the Gilberts fought all over the place. Cameras followed the action as the combatants headed out of the building and out into the street to end the show.

AWA All Star WrestlingLarry Nelson announced a huge show, including a non-title, in ring appearance by the world champ. He said the big main event is a six man match with Atlas, Brunzell, and Brody taking on Abdullah, Boris, and Smirnoff. Brody and company joined him in studio. Brody said he thinks he knows who is funding this army in the AWA and tonight they find out for sure. Brunzell admitted it's no easy alliance between himself and Brody but in battle sometimes you do what needs to be done to get the win. Atlas just wanted to get to the match so they can get one step closer to the AWA tag team titles. Doctor X beat Tom Rocky Stone.Stone tried to mount offense at the bell, but was easily overcome and put down with the FIGURE FOUR.As soon as the bell rang Adrian Adonis hit the ring to put the boots to Doctor X. He finished the barrage with a DDT and went to ringside to speak with Ken Resnick. Adonis said he came here to be American champion , but Doctor X got in his way in the qualifiers and got a tainted win. So if he can't have the title he will make sure Doctor X won't either. AWA president Stanley Blackburn entered the scene. He said The Trooper was right last week: things have gotten out of hand with all of the post match attacks and fights. He suspended Adonis for two weeks without pay and said that's a warning to anyone else who wants to get involved in matches where they don't belong. Furthermore, on the next big supercard in Minneapolis when Bruiser Brody will face Nick Bockwinkel for the world title, Trooper WILL get his steel cage match with Larry Zbyszko. Long Riders beat Rose and Somers to defend the AWA tag team championship.Fun and exciting match. SOmers had control on Scott, but the Hog came back with a jumping knee smash and got the pin out of nowhere. In studio, Larry Zbyszko joined Larry Nelson and was already in full on rant about having to be trapped in a cage with the meter maid who wants to be called Trooper. Nelson was overjoyed at Larry's anguish and gleefully goaded him as Larry continued his signature whine/rant. The Crusher beat Stan The Lariat Hansen.Bell to bell fight. Crusher survived a barrage by Hansen and came back to lock in the CRUSHER NELSON for the win after Hansen had already survived the BOLO punch. It should be noted that Stan's foot was on the bottom rope at the end, but the referee either didn't see it or ignored it. Hansen has filed a protest.World champ Nick Bockwinkel (w/Bobby Heenan) beat Sodbuster Kenny Jay.Nick began the match with a handshake in uncharacteristic fashion. On the lockup Jay grabbed a headlock but Bockwinkel countered. Sodbuster tried his best, not giving in to an abdominal stretch and breaking with a hip toss, but Nick came right back with his SLEEPER for the win. Following the match Nick and Bobby were joined by Ken Resnick in ring. Bobby put over the guts of Kenny Jay for getting in the ring with the champ, then got down to business. He introduced the new "boss of the AWA", the man who is here to take over Sheik Adnan Al-Kaissie. Adnan said people say money can't buy happiness, but it can buy power. And power is all he needs as he will lead his men to the tag team titles and the American heavyweight title. Bruiser Brody rushed the ring and chased the villainous trio away. However, that left Atlas and Brunzell a man short as the main event got underway as a handicapped match. Bruiser Brody, Jim Brunzell, and Tony Atlas went to a double disqualification with Abdullah, Boris, and Smirnoff. Could not ask for a better dice rolling scenario. Atlas was caught in the ring for a long time taking much abuse but kicking out of everything. Finally he made the tag and Brunzell somehow locked in a sleeper on Abby. Abdullah got to the ropes and bailed, but the good guys gave chase. A fight broke out on the floor where Bruiser rushed down to the ringside area just in time to join. Order could not be restored and both teams were disqualified.
This show is a tribute. RIP Kenny Jay.

World Championship WrestlingHosted by Tony Schiavone and David Crockett Tony and David kicked off the show announcing the night's main event, tag team action between the American Males and Studd and Bundy. Rock Riddle entered to speak for his men. He said Slaughter and Kernodle think they got away, but there's a rematch coming up this weekend at the Omni and the tag team titles are coming home with Studd and Bundy. But first a pair of guys who have made a splash in just a few short weeks here are coming down to Earth when. Or rather, the Earth is coming down on them in the form of an AVALANCHE. Ravishing Rick Rude (w/Percy Pringle III) defeated Mike Jackson.Rude wasted no time. Mike dodge the initial lockup, but Rude got him with a face rake as they went for it again. A suplex and RUDE AWAKENING later and it was over. United States champion Tommy Rich showed up with Tony and David while Rude was still in the ring. He spoke to Rude and said Bill Watts promised suspensions if they got into it today, but he won't have to wait long. Rude wants to skyrocket to the top here and at the Omni he gets his chance for the US title. Rich warned that he's been on top for a while now and seen a lot of challengers come and go, so if Rude wants to see him FIRED UP he can walk on into Atlanta and find out for himself. Ivan Koloff and Red Dogg Rodney Mack went to a time limit draw with Jimmy Valiant and Thunderbolt Patterson. Both teams pounded away but neither could get the job done in the allotted ten minute TV time limit. At one point Valiant was locked in the BEAR HUG by Ivan for a long time but would not submit (three consecutive rolls, eating up a couple minutes of that ten). In the end Thunderbolt seemed to have the better of Rodney again, but again he could not put him away in time. Kurt Angle came out to brag about himself and his accomplishments again. He said nobody in pro wrestling can touch him after what he's done in the collegiate and Olympic level and the world title is his for the taking. Disco Inferno made his surprise return and said Keith Larson is okay, but he's not a PROFESSIONAL ENTERTAINER and wrestling sensation like Disco Inferno. He challenged Angle to get in the ring and of course the match was on. Kurt Angle pinned Disco Inferno after a brutal German Suplex. How else was this going to go? Inferno put the boots to Angle as the Olympian slid into the ring, but Angle swiftly reversed a hammerlock into a German Suplex. He peppered DI with some more forearms before a second suplex and pin. Angle rejoined the broadcast team afterwards to continue to talk about himself. Another surprise guest Danny Hodge entered the scene. He said Angle knows all about what he's done in the amateurs and the pros and he should heed the warning that not everyone is a Keith Larson or a Disco Inferno. He warned that some men can and WILL hurt you. Angle asked who thinks he thinks can do that and Hodge replied "JACK BRISCO, for one" without hesitation. Angle was obviously a little angry at that but Hodge told him to show up at the Omni this weekend and see for himself. After the break it was time again for Bob Backlund's International Invitational. Arnold Skaaland came out to talk and said they've scoured the world for the best from all over and tonight it's Samoa being represented as Cocoa Samoa steps up to the challenge. Arnold reiterated that Bob is training harder than ever and would not stop until he has gotten his rematch with Nick Bockwinkel. Bob Backlund beat Cocoa Samoa after the ATOMIC DROP.Cocoa came to win and really took it to Backlund early. The men traded arm drags at one point and Bob reversed an arm bar into a hammerlock of his own (this card seems like it's designed to have logical sequences like this. Or it keeps happening for me anyway). After several minutes Bob got a near fall with a delayed vertical suplex, then used his atomic drop for the pin. Rick Rude and Percy Pringle came out to answer Tommy Rich's comments from earlier in the night. Rude said he'd win the US title in record time and all of the courage Rich gets from that 12 pack in the back of his pickup truck won't matter when he meets Ravishing Rick Rude. Percy asked why Rich would even think he has a chance. He said yes, he's faced some of the best and been US champ for a while now, but he's never faced an athlete the caliber of Rick Rude and at the Omni he's in for a Rude Awakening. American Males beat Big John Studd and King Kong Bundy in an epic main event. It looked like Bagwell and Riggs were on their way to getting squashed early on, but they came roaring back with their superior agility. Bagwell pinned Bundy after about eight minutes of action. Fans were elated at the upset after the bout as Bagwell and Riggs took to the crowd to celebrate. Riddle said it was a fluke, the ref counted too fast, and hated them besides. But one match doesn't matter because Studd and Bundy will prove themselves in the Omni then go on to crush everyone in their paths including the American Males. * If I can "talk shop" about that match, the agility check on level two on Studd, the uncovered into the ropes on level 2 against a pair of guys with A ratings, and the C ropes ratings on both Studd and Bundy crushed them here.
