Pro Wrestling USA and Pro Wrestling Japan
present The Tag Team Summit
The Road Warriors defeated The American Males when Animal pinned Riggs Not a lot of suspense in the opening match of round one as the clear favorites steam rolled the eighth seed team.
The Texas Hangmen won by disqualification over the Machines (Big Machine and Super Machine)
Because I didn't have another Japanese tag team built up, that's why! Anyway, The AWA tag team champions were lucky to make it out of the first round. They took the win when Super Machine got carried away during a brawl on the arena floor and brought a folding chair into the proceedings.
Sgt Slaughter and Don Kernodle defeated The Moondogs. A rematch between the current and former NWA world tag team champions. The Moondogs brought the fight, but Sarge and Don held on for the win after the ATOMIC BOMB on Spot.
Rock N Roll Express defeated The Fabulous Ones. The match of the night, as you'd expect. After about twelve minutes of action Ricky scored the pin on Steve to advance to the next round.
Bill Apter conducted a special ringside interview with the NWA world champion, Nick Bockwinkel and his manager Bobby Heenan. Bobby said they're here to who earns the next title match with the champ, but it doesn't matter because Nick will be ready. Nick told Bill that he welcomes another challenge from Jack Brisco because he knows what Brisco has to offer. He assessed that Angle has come a long way in a short time and he's got the ego to match his skills. However, it will take more than he has in his bag of tricks to beat the man who lives and breath pro wrestling.
The Road Warriors defeated The Texas Hangmen to move on to the finals. Again, this one was never really in doubt. The Hangmen got in a few shots early, but Hawk and Animal got the win after an Animal POWER SLAM on Killer.
Sgt Slaughter and Don Kernodle scraped past the Rock N Roll Express. Ricky and Robert nearly got an early pin after a CROSS BODY BLOCK by Ricky on Sarge, but it was not to be. After a prolonged battle Sarge put away Robert with the COBRA CLUTCH to advance his team to the finals.
Kurt Angle defeated Jack Brisco to earn a NWA world title match. It was a back and forth, counter and reversal battle early. Angle took over with a pair of nasty German Suplexes, but could not keep Brisco down. He resorted to dirty tactics and tossed Jack out of the ring in frustration. Jack landed badly on his ankle and limped back into the ring to be caught with the OLYMPIC SLAM for the pin.
After the match Angle was celebrating his win in the ring in an interview with Gordon Solie. After to proclaimed himself unbeatable he was shocked by the sudden appearance of Big Van Vader. Vader got in the ring and laid out Angle with a short clothesline and finished him off with a power bomb. Vader said there's only one unstoppable force in the ring and it's Big Van Vader. He declared that he's come back to make sure nobody ever forgets that again.
The Road Warriors beat Sgt Slaughter and Don Kernodle to win the tournament. Anticlimactic? A forgone conclusion? Probably. Warriors didn't even really have a hard time winning this one against the fatigued NWA tag team champions. They came in fresh having not even suffered a pin attempt in the prior tow matches and hit the DOOMSDAY DEVICE on Don for the decisive victory.

World Championship WrestlingTony and David did the show open announcing a special in ring appearance by the NWA world champion Nick Bockwinkel and a big main event featuring Bob Backlund versus Ivan Koloff. Disco Inferno interrupted as he does and says last time he was here he got blindsided, cheap shotted, and ripped off. This time he's getting in the ring and he's ready for whoever walks out of the curtain. ....but he was NOT ready. Big Van Vader defeated Disco Inferno after a bone crunching splash. The match went as one would expect. Disco tried some ineffective offense at the bell and it was pretty much over from there. Following the bout Vader walked over to Tony and David and said the man is back and he's on a new mission. He bellowed for Angle but said Angle isn't here because he knows Vader is around. He then warned Nick Bockwinkel that all he's been doing for the past year is keeping the title belt warm for The Mastadon to come take it back. Vader left and Sinister Minister Reverend James Mitchell stepped in. He said he wasn't joking about amassing an army and exhibit A in his new House Of Horrors is about to make its presence known, The Great Heart Puncher Ox Baker. Eric The Red and Ox Baker defeated the Mulkey Brothers. Eric may finally have the tag team partner he needs to succeed. The pairing seems like a natural and brawled their way to an easy win. Mitchell, flanked by his tag team, then announced the NEXT spectacle of terror he's unleashing on an unsuspecting world, NORD THE BARBARIAN. Nord The Barbarian beat up Keith Larson in a no contest. *Larson got his moments in, but Nord took over and just pummelled him. He kept using the LEG DROP but picking him up and throwing him out of the ring. Finally on the third time Jimmy Valiant came out to check on Larson. Nord shoved Valiant out of the way, but Jimmy fought back. Ox and Eric The Red joined the fight but were countered by Thunderbolt Patterson and Sam Houston. Larson recovered and got involved as well. Referees and security broke it up. After the altercation Jimmy talked to Tony and David. He said if Mitchell wants to make an army, then he'll be met by the resistance because it's been Jimmy Valiant's long time duty here to run out any manager that makes his way to the territory and thinks he'll take over. He told Mitchell to bring his men to Norfolk this weekend and Jimmy and the crew will be waiting. World champion Nick Bockwinkel defeated Mike Jackson in a non-title match.A clinic by the champ, who got the decisive win via FIGURE FOUR in under five minutes. Nick spoke after the match. He said Angle has the next title match as per the stipulation of his victory over Jack Brisco at the Tag Team Summit in Japan. But now Vader has inserted himself into things and he has the credentials and size to back up anything he says or does. But it doesn't matter to the champ, because there can be only one and you're looking at him in Nick Bockwinkel. US champ Rick Rude and Percy Pringle entered. Rude said Nick is a champion with some respect, unlike Slaughter and Kernodle who went all the way to Japan to lose and who shouldn't be considered tag team champions. And he vowed that they wouldn't after the meet Raging and Ravishing in Norfolk this coming weekend. Bob Backlund defeated Ivan Koloff after the ATOMIC DROP.Top notch main event. Koloff had Bob in serious trouble, but Bob rallied with a piledriver reversal off the throw into the ropes and finished with the Atomic Drop for the pin. Redd Dogg Rodney Mack tried to break it up, but Bob intercepted and tosssed him out of the ring before getting the victory. Following the bout Bob led the crowd in the pledge of allegiance as the Russian and his cohort headed out of town. *Seriously, after the third time Nord hit a leg drop, failed to get a pin (Larson/Rocky kept rolling high!), and threw his opponent out of the ring, I figured I had an angle to run here and cut the match off!

Live Pro Wrestling at the Scope! Norfolk, VA Keith Larson and Disco Inferno wrestled to a ten minute time limit draw. Using my opening match house show rules (no out of the ring, 40 moves to a finish) Larson and Disco had a good back and forth opener. Both had unsuccessful pin attempts and neither could get the win in the time limit.
Nord The Barbarian (w/Sinister Minister) defeated Sam Houston by pinfall. Sam fought, but Nord just overwhelmed him with power en route to a pinfall victory after the LEG DROP in about five minutes.
Ox Baker and Eric The Red (w/Sinister Minister) defeated Jimmy Valiant and Thunderbolt Patterson. James Mitchell may have finally found the winning combination. You could call this a mild upset in a raucous competition. Eric hit T-bolt with the bone to set up Ox Baker to deliver the HEART PUNCH for the win.
Brian Blair defeated Redd Dogg Rodney Mack. A hard fought win for Blair. Redd Dogg pounded him mercilessly but Blair would not quit. Brian finally got the win with a lateral guillotine transitioned into a pinning combination.
Sgt Slaughter and Don Kernodle won by countout over Rick Rude and Manny Fernandez (w/Percy Pringle) in a tag team title match. Fantastic contest with an unfortunate ending. Rude had Kernodle in trouble at about the 15 minute mark, but Kernodle made the tag. Sarge came in strong and ended his barrage with a Slaughter Cannon that sent Rude tumbling out of the ring. Sarge followed and Rude gave him a face rake. Slaughter retaliated with a throat drop on the guard rail and got back in the ring. Rude was hurt and could not meet the ten count (roll of 12 on out of the ring).

WCW Saturday Nightw/Tony and David Tony opened the show and welcomed the reigning tag team champions after their successful defense this past weekend. Sgt Slaughter said Rude and Fernandez talked a good game after Don and he came up short in the finals of the tag team tournament in Japan, but when it came time to back it up they couldn't get it done. He said the first order of business is shutting Rude's mouth, then they want to get the Road Warriors back on US soil and prove who the real best tag team in the world is. Rude, Manny, and Percy entered the scene, as heels are won to do, and Rude was livid. He said Sarge cheap shotted him on the floor and won by countout, which means "absolute squat" in his book. Sarge said he's looking at the US belt over Rude's shoulder and thinks maybe it's time for the champions to give chase. IF Rude and Manny want another shot at the titles maybe Rude can put his money where his mouth is and give Sarge a US title match tonight. If Rude can win they'll get a tag team title rematch. Challenge accepted and we have a main event. Hugh Morrus (w/Sinister Minister James Mitchell) defeated Randy Mulkey.Showcase match for the second in command of the House Of Horrors. The Laughting Man got the pin after NO LAUGHING MATTER. Kurt Angle defeated Marcus Alexander Bagwell.Bagwell gave him a fight, but the wrestling machine put him away with a German Suplex and pin. After the bout Angle spoke with Tony and David. He said Vader is a madman and he's out hunting for Angle's head. But he's the number one contender and has to set his sight on the world title. He doesn't have time for looking over his shoulder for a raging monster coming for him. So he went and recruited another Olympic great to watch his back, someone who will meet Vader head on. A beast of a man, the WORLD'S STRONGEST MAN Mark Henry. Worlds' Strongest Man Mark Henry crushed Keith Steinborn.Keith did in fact get his glorious Kentucky Waterfall wig split. He may in fact have also got his @$$ kicked. Beat em up, beat em up, etc. Henry won with the WORLD'S STRONGEST SLAM. In a special pre-taped interview Gordon Solie spoke with The Road Warriors and Paul Ellering. They talked about the win in the tag team summit tournament and Paul said they proved yet again what they've been saying all along, they are the greatest tag team of all time and space. Animal roared that maybe they need to find teams from other planets in the galaxy to give them a challenge. Give them half man and half animal hybrids, head bangers from a warrior planet, ancient gods, and they'll beat them all! Hawk ended in typical fashion, saying Sarge and Don may get what they want and they'll wish they never had. Oooooh, what a rush! House Of Horrors (Eric The Red, Nord, and Ox Baker) beat Jimmy Valiant, Thunderbolt, and Sam Houston.Things aren't looking good for our heroes here, as they lose yet again to the new and improved House Of Horrors. Ox made the difference yet again, nailing Jimmy with the dreaded HEART PUNCH in a great match. James Mitchell bragged about his team after the match. He said all of the champions here are fighting amongst themselves while his team keeps getting stronger and stronger. They'll never see if coming when the House Of Horrors sneaks in from the shadows and takes over. He warned that the best (or worst) is yet to come. Rick Rude (w/Percy Pringle) defeated Sgt Slaughter to defend the United States championship.Tremendous. Sarge gave it his all, but Rude was determined. Sarge was in control when Percy reached into the ring to try to grab Sarge's leg. He missed but the minor distraction was enough to let Rude take control. Rude hit a quick suplex and the RUDE AWAKENING to get the pin. After the match Don Kernodle ran in to make sure no post-match shenanigans took place as Percy and Rude went over to Tony and David to say they want their tag team title rematch right here on TV next week.

WCW (quick write up because I got all the way to the end of writing this the first time and lost the post!) Show open: Tony and David bring out Sinister Minister. He talks up his team and says no matter who wins the tag team title match tonight his House Of Horrors are waiting in the wings. Eric The Red and Ox Baker won by countout over Ranger Ross and Keith Larson. Not real competitive. Eric threw Ross out of the ring, Ox hit him with a heart punch. Tony and David talk up the action in Memphis and throw to a taped Southern title match with Bill Dundee and Angelo Mosca. Superstar Dundee beat Angelo Mosca to defend the southern title.Nice brawl of a match that ended when Dundee hit the Superstar Bomb for the pin. Tony and David welcomed Superstar Dundee to the interview area. He said he's honored to be southern champion and he's defended against all comers for months now, but maybe it's time to add to his belt collection and Rick Rude and the US title looks ripe for the taking while he spreads himself thin between tag team and singles action. Iron Sheik made his surprise debut. He said Dundee looks like "good southern representative: little man with big mouth". Dundee was ready to fight but Sheik said he wasn't here for him, he was here for "Howdy Doody Bob Backlund and his International Invitational challenge". He listed his accomplishments and said Backlund is another weak American amateur. Bob Backlund came out and repsonded. He said Sheik can keep going with the insults or he can get in the ring and get what he came for. Bob Backlund and Iron Sheik wrestled to a double countout.thanks dice for that finish to get things moving. Great action. Bob was firmly in control until Sheik came back with a kick to the stomach and sidewinder suplex. He threw Bob to the floor and followed. They brawled to a double countout and kept fighting. Referees tried to break it up, but Bob and Sheik fought all the way down the aisle, through the curtain, and to the back.
Jack Brisco beat Mr X with a ROLLING REVERSE CRADLE.
Quick win for the former world champ. Brisco spoke after the match. Tony said it looked like he had Angle beat in their match from Japan until he took a nasty spill on the floor and twisted his ankle. Brisco admitted that was true but said he makes no excuses and he thinks if they get in the ring together again things will be a lot different. Big Van Vader burst onto the scene and everyone braced for trouble, but Vader said he respects Jack Brisco because he's the only man who could beat Vader in the ring for the NWA world title. He added that he has NO respect for Kurt Angle and now that he's hiding behind The World's Strongest Man Mark Henry Vader respects him even less. He said he's going to go through Henry, go through Angle, and then go through Nick Bockwinkel for the NWA world title. But after that, Vader said he wants another match with Jack. Brisco said he's never fought a tougher man and he has the same respect for Vader that he showed him. The two shook hands and maybe an uneasy alliance was formed. Rick Rude and Manny Fernandez (w/Percy Pringle) beat Sgt Slaughter and Don Kernodle to win the tag team championship.Four star match all the way. Excellent back and forth action with the pin counts for both teams rising by the minute. In the end both teams were exhausted when Don was thrown out of the ring. Suddenly, Bob Backlund and Iron Sheik came brawling back through the curtain. The referee was distracted and did not see Manny grab Percy's cane and hit Sarge with it. Slaughter went down in a heap and Manny covered as the referee turned around to count the pin.* Chaos ensued as the show ended. Rude and Fernandez celebrated the win in ring as Bob and Sheik continued to fight. Sarge recovered, saw what was going on, and joined in to attack Sheik and drive the Iranian menace away. With Sheik gone Sarge turned to Bob and went off on him for causing the distraction that cost his team the tag titles. Words were exchanged and things began to get heated until Don Kernodle stepped between them and seemingly smoothed things over.
*Note: The finish was just a plain old interference roll of the dice, but I had the brawl from earlier in the back of my head and that's what it turned into in imagination land to further an angle and maybe start a few more. And that my friends, is how to play the game. You've got Sarge, Sheik, and Backlund all in play. Come on, I HAVE to do something with that.
