Johnny Valentine vs. Bruiser Costa
Johnny Valentine defeated Bruiser Costa with an ATOMIC SKULLCRUSHER at 2:45
Match Rating: 0.10
Match Notes: Buddy Rogers, Valentine's former partner, decided to strut his way out to ringside as the bell rang. It served as enough of a distraction for Bruiser Costa to grab an armlock.
It didn't last, though, as Valentine returned his focus to the ring and dismantled poor Bruiser. After a second ATOMIC SKULLCRUSHER, Valentine pointed to Rogers as the ref made the three count.
Rogers laughed and strutted to the back as Valentine celebrated his quick win.
Rikidozan vs. Jake Milliman
Rikidozan defeated Jake Milliman with a forearm hammer at 4:43
Match Rating: 0.10
Match Notes: Rikidzan made an impressive showing against The Destroyer at Thanksgiving Thunder and continued to wow in the Wrestle Royal at Black Friday. He imposed his will on Costa and used a series of strikes to rock his opponent before pounding him to the mat with a brutal forearm hammer to score the 1, 2, 3.
No doubt The Destroyer is looking to even the score between the two, but you have to think Rikidozan could be in the title hunt for Race's championship after his impressive start.

Bobby Shane vs. Jerry Brisco
Jerry Brisco defeated Bobby Shane with a FIGURE FOUR LEGLOCK at 9:00
Match Rating: 3.50
Match Notes: Jerry Brisco came to Central States intent on capturing the Middleweight belt. Bobby Shane, however, claims he's next in line. This match could well decide that issue.
There was a feeling-out process early on as they see-sawed a bit. Brisco targeted the legs early, and it seemed to work as Shane was having trouble moving as smoothly as we're used to seeing.
Shane put his head down when he shot Brisco into the ropes, and that was all it took for the Oklahoman to take over and not look back. He continued to pick apart Shane's legs, and though the self-proclaimed "King" was resilient, surviving two FIGURE FOURs, he couldn't do the same when Brisco would lock it again later.
Great showing from Brisco as Bobby Shane suffers a setback in his quest for the Middleweight title.
- Bill Apter's "Hot Seat": The Spoiler -
Bill Apter welcomed The Spoiler to the ring for this edition of the "Hot Seat". Apter aks about the Spoiler's claim that he has the best claw hold in all of wrestling. It doesn't take long for Apter's continued questioning about how the Spoiler can be sure to anger the masked man.
Spoiler goes on about eliminating Mulligan, Raschke, the Destroyer, and more at the Wrestle Royal. He claims the beating he laid down on Mulligan is proof alone of his greatness, and the fact that he did it by applying his BIONIC CLAW before tossing him should end the debate. He lasted over 50 minutes; Mulligan couldn't even get past 30.
Apter says he's not sure it's so cut and dry - maybe they should have a match where the winner must use the hold to secure victory.
The Spoiler says he's sick and tired of Apter's questions. He calls him a little man with a little head and that his BIONIC CLAW would render Apter unconscious in seconds. As he backs Apter into a corner, Blackjack Mulligan rushes out to make the save!
The fans go crazy as the two begin to brawl. Officials and other wrestlers come out to separate the two as Mulligan has the advantage. Eventually, a referee steps into the ring and speaks with the ring announcer... We've got a match! Mulligan and Spoiler are going to go at it right now!
Blackjack Mulligan vs. The Spoiler
Blackjack Mulligan defeated The Spoiler with a BLACKJACK CLAW at 5:48
Match Rating: 2.00
Match Notes: This impromptu match turned wild from the get-go. They brawled in and out of the ring at a furious pace, and it went back and forth.
Mulligan, though, was a man on a mission. He kept applying his claw hold. Amazingly, Spoiler was able to get out of it not once but twice!
The third time was the charm, though. The Spoiler had no choice - the pain was too much. Mulligan gets a notch on his belt and throws into doubt the Spoiler's claims of having the best claw hold.
Still... I have a suspicion this won't be the end of this issue.

Flying Redheads vs. Hamilton Wrecking Crew
for the NWA Central States Tag Team Championship
Red Bastien defeated Chris Tolos with a DQ at 5:54
Match Rating: 1.50
Match Notes: The Flying Redheads made their way out to a great reaction from the fans. They looked ready for their first title defense since lifting the straps from the Fabulous Kangaroos at Thanksgiving Thunder. It's no secret that Heffernan and Costello took exception to not getting a rematch on this card, though it's likely they'll get one with the winners of this bout.
The Hamilton Wrecking Crew looked impressive in taking out the tenuous tandem of Buddy Rogers and Johnny Valentine. Can they dethrone the new champs?
It was a teeter-totter affair early on between Bastien and Chris Tolos. Only a few minutes in, though, Tolos whipped Bastien into the turnbuckle and charged his opponent. Bastien, however, moved and Tolos went tumbling to the outside!
Bastien went after him and they brawled for a bit, but John Tolos came to help his brother after tossing Billy Lyons from the apron. The double-teaming warranted a warning from the ref, but when they ignored the order, the official called for the bell and DQ'd the Hamilton Wrecking Crew!
The Tolos brothers were hot, but Lyons was able to get his partner out of harm's way. The champs retain.

Harley Race vs. Pepper Gomez
for the NWA Central States Heavyweight Championship
Pepper Gomez defeated Harley Race with a Mexican Leap at 33:40
Harley Race defeated Pepper Gomez with a PILEDRIVER at 46:48
Harley Race defeated Pepper Gomez with a back suplex at 52:58
Match Rating: 5.00
Match Notes: Pepper Gomez earned this title shot and the fans' adoration by coming out on top in the Black Friday Wrestle Royal. Meanwhile, Harley Race was able to defeat Jack Brisco in two straight falls to secure the NWA Central States Heavyweight Championship - claiming that the title is exactly where it belongs and no one will change that anytime soon.
A win here will not only secure the title but also go a long way towards deciding who gets an NWA World title shot when Lou Thesz makes his way to town in December.
This was an epic contest that tested the mettle of both men. They went back and forth in and out of the ring for nearly 40 minutes before the first fall was scored. Race came out of the gate like a man possessed - hitting a string of high-impact moves. But Gomez was incredibly resilient, taking the best Race had to offer and coming back for more. In fact, he gave as good as he got. Race was reeling several times, but he too wouldn't stay down.
Eventually, Race came off the top rope with a cross body, but Pepper rolled through! Then Gomez hit a big Mexican Leap for the first fall!
The second fall was more of the same, but Race came on with a vengeance. He knew he couldn't drop this fall, lest he lose the title. He hit a big PILEDRIVER, but when Gomez kicked out, an angry Race blamed the ref for a slow count.
Gomez tried to rally, but Race cut him off and hit another PILEDRIVER to score the 1, 2, 3.
Gomez had to be in extreme pain. Race had clobbered his back and neck with big suplexes and backbreakers as well as his finishers. Race smelled blood, but things would break down on the outside.
Both men were busted wide open after trading shots into the guardrail and on the concrete. Gomez wore the crimson mask as Race tried to whip him into the post! Gomez reversed, and Race went face first!
Gomez rolled him in and hit a big dropkick. He shot Race into the ropes, but Race somehow managed to hit a tackle of his own and then a big back suplex to score the deciding fall!
This was one of the greatest matches the Memorial Hall crowd has ever been treated to and an incredible defense for Harley Race. But Pepper Gomez has nothing to be ashamed of.
The bloodied champ holds the title high as an equally bloody Gomez makes his way to the back.
