This thread has inspired me to bring back my ECW fed. I really liked coming up with ideas for it but stopped posting 'cause I felt like I had to - if that makes sense. I'm bringing it back - but I won't be posting every week - I shall go at my own pace.

I’ve heard others talk about long term booking. I love going on hikes at the park with our dog and I’ll get my notes out on my phone and jot down booking ideas for the future (I’m actually doing this now, lol). The other day, I planned out a whole RnR vs Gilbert feud when they’re introduced. (Eddie and Ricky are who got me hooked on wrestling in 1981)

This is such a great thread and it's great to see so many things I've gone through, other promoters have too...
I stopped playing from 2005-2016, but yet I always thought about where I wanted to go next if I ever picked things up again. It was a fun thing to think about during walks, and rotated with other hobby thoughts. I was tempted by another wrestling game, but then realized I had a game that I liked and built a history of my own with it, and I came back. That helped me find this community, and when I found a letter that I started writing to Tom in the late 80s/early 90s, I used that as a catalyst to start writing up my own fed.
Do people read my fed? Do people like my fed? These questions started to eat at me early on. I toyed with adding flair like minis and whatnot, but I soon discovered I didn't really care--my fed is what I enjoy, and maybe someone else will think it's interesting too. Sometimes I go through little droughts without writing things up, and that bothered me for a bit, but soon I realized there's no timetable for anything. If someone really enjoys my non-canon, bootleg-filled, long-form storytelling GWF, then that's awesome. I became inspired by some of the things I read, and going through the stuff I did as a teenager helped make my fed even better for myself and helped my storytelling. For that, I am so thankful to this board.
Always make sure you are doing things because it is fun for you. I will never drop my GWF, which is the same one that I started way back when, but if someone needs to reboot repeatedly, then do it. Your fellow promoters will never think any differently than to have the most fun you can with this game, however you see fit.
Great stuff.

Great post, and again, great thread! Inspires me to keep trying a few things, or rather re-try, simply because I prefer that way to play!

Ten years ago I was hospitalised with severe H1N1 pneumonia and spent four weeks in an artificial coma on life support. I learned then never to take things for granted, even more so now with this coronavirus. I never did think of myself as competing on the board but if people are following my fed that makes me happy. Honestly, I don't bother with storylines, just put matches together from my favourite era and the fun is rolling the dice and witnessing the action. I know I've not posted for a year now but that's because I'm hooked on Soccer Blast and The Sims 4. I've more time on my hands now that I'm unemployed and shielding. When I do get round to playing again I'm hoping to test out some new house rules that hopefully stack the odds in favour of the better wrestlers. I'd be interested in seeing those house rules when you start playing again!

I want to jump in on this awesome thread. I think it is important... no... very important... to remind everyone here that we are all here to have fun and enjoy ourselves and the community. I've run into the wall creatively more than a few times. That sucks but I've also realized a long time ago that it's better to just stop posting results if my heart is just not in it at the moment. I've been known to take long... um... vacations... from posting fed results. Like it's been said: we need to just do what we want and like to do. In my own case, that's posting my fed results the way I do it. I get a little charge out of checking on the growing numbers of views they get and the small number of comments that my posts earn. I don't know exactly why that matters to me so much, other than my continuing battles with Imposter Syndrome. I'm sure some of you know exactly how I feel: like everyone who gives you praise or likes your work will someday "wake up" and realize that you're just a hack who doesn't deserve any of that praise. But, I do enjoy knowing that some of you like reading the things I post. It won't ever keep me posting when I'm not feeling up to the task, though. We all have to maintain our own mental health and wellbeing. So... Post what you want to post. Or don't post at all. No one here will think any less of you. We're all friends here. This is a great community to be part of no matter how much interaction you have with the rest of us. But don't ever force yourself to post anything or even interact with any of us if you don't want to... or don't feel like you can muster the energy to do so. Please don't ever feel like any of us would pressure you into anything. I wanted to respond to this very important point. It never occurred to me that gaming would cause any kind of Imposter Syndrome. But having witnessed that with work colleagues, I can totally understand that. Big thumbs for sharing that perspective!

I'm glad others are finding interest in this thread! A few rando comments... It might seem weird to play and post just 1/3 of a show at once, but it works for me and my schedule and ultimately allows me to play the game more instead of waiting to find time to play and post all 15 matches per show. I don't think it's weird at all, Zeke. I think your way of playing is rather ingenius! I love this post so much. I'm blushing! It just began to feel like a chore to try to play the game, even though I really loved it. I've been there and it's no fun. If a game becomes a chore and laborious, things need to be reassessed! I hate when movie franchises or comic books do it (mostly) and I didn't want my fed to do it. I feel the same way about comic books, and it seems that happens pretty often. It's like the stuff I grew up reading in the late 70s/early 80s doesn't matter anymore. I have changed my views on that to be less "me, me, me" and realize it's just authors on putting their own spin on things, but the lack of long term continuity does bug me. You have to had it to Tom, he's never gone back and said "I'm going to write more stories about 2087 and scrap the past 50 sets." It would be easy for him to do. I like the alternate reality versions of COTG guys, or Star Warrior II or Bishop Hell II. You have guys stealing gimmicks for years in pro wrestling, the GWF should be no exception. When Marcel DeSade unmasked and became a manager, I took the original Executioner and Whiplash cards and made them a tag team called "The Sons of DeSade" with him as their manager. Why wouldn't he pass on his gimmicks and make one last run at glory? Vegas gave me the idea of simply calling it Year 1, Year 2, etc. and I'm off to the races... racing at my own pace. I take my time mapping out directions for shows and angles weeks and in-game months in advance and I might take real life weeks to post a single show's results sometimes, and post multiple shows in a week other times. I like a more in depth write-up and love conversing with others about my results but, at the end of the day, I am trying to make sure that I am posting and running my fed in a way that is fun for me right now. I love the fact that people seek other players' input on how to get out of a booking jam or solving a calendar problem like pikemojo describes. I was actually going to make a different post about this anyway but I'll just include my thoughts here on it. Legends Online has really saved my ability to play the game. I am legitimately thankful for that portion of the game existing. If I only have time for a single match, I can roll it, record the results and do whatever else I have to do that day/night. I also really love the PBP simulator. I enjoy rolling matches but if I had to roll every single match on a card, it would just take me way too long. I'd never get through the matches on a card. I am getting so much enjoyment out of this game because of this one tool. I don't know if I would ever really be able to find the time to pull out my physical cards, dice and charts to roll the matches out the old fashioned way, at least not in the foreseeable future. So, thank you to everyone who made it possible and continues to keep it updated and running. I can imagine that has been a huge task. I think it's awesome that there is an online and tabletop component for those who want to use one or both options. I think a lot of that hard work is done by Mike M! I’m also a huge stat junky with results. I have a google sheet I use with stats, rankings, etc all in it. For my Wrestling Around the Globe promotion, I've been using one Google Doc for the match results, write ups, planning, what you see posted here, one Google Doc as a "Fed Bible" where I can make notes about where I'm going and important events that have occured, and a Google Sheet with just flash results of who beat who, no details, so I can look for W-L trends when booking and giving title shots. I do have to say that the rankings spreadsheets that TDalton and throwingtoasters have shared look pretty cool, so maybe someday I'll take the plunge and starting keeping track of w-L records! I've done some kooky things with my fed(s), and have yet another concept that I may try out soon that'll be even kookier, but have managed to keep a GWF, a legends fed, and a bootleg fed intact for all these many years now. I love all the responses, keep 'em coming. These kinds of discussions are what makes this gaming community great. And frankly, this community has truly come alive at a time in history when it "ain't" exactly been a bed of roses. This community is alive with creativity, and I think that's great! Let's keep it going in 2021! Well said, stu! And fans, I've witnessed a lot of his kooky stuff! How about "Having FUN in 2021" become our community slogan? Who is with me? Just a great post to kick this off. There's a reason I always called Chad the best promoter who doesn't play the game. Although I can't say that anymore since he's back rolling the dice. I guess I’ll have to quit again, I rarely get compliments from TDalton! The Duke of Destruction & Red Talon cards had a similar impact on me, making me reflect on the absolutely horrible booking I'd done over the first several game years of my Fed. It wasn't until after the first GalactiCon that I got my shit together. Meeting other promoters and seeing what they were doing really got thinking, and the GWF was a big part of my world for many years after. Recently, I've done a 2087 reboot and am in December, rolling toward GALACTICADE. Some of the most fun I've had with the game in years. Not posting results or doing write ups, just playing for the fun of it. Tim and I discussed our recent experiences revisiting the 2087 era on a phone call today, and this topic will come up sometime soon on Uncharted Territory! Great post and some fabulous responses too. It's totally true- this is your game boyz n gurlz and play it in a way that makes you happy...or don't play it at all and enjoy what others do (or don't do.) Or just collect the cards. Wonderful topic and thanks everyone for sharing your thoughts! Absolutely agree, joebreakdown! Even if someone doesn't have time to play, be part of the community! This thread has inspired me to bring back my ECW fed. I really liked coming up with ideas for it but stopped posting 'cause I felt like I had to - if that makes sense. I'm bringing it back - but I won't be posting every week - I shall go at my own pace. That's exactly what I'm talking about Lee! If you can't play because you're too busy posting results, give the posts the boot, or make them shorter, or do whatever you need to keep playing if you want.

Some of my own bootlegs and crazy angles infiltrated my promotion, but I wouldn't have it any other way!
