I was actually going to make a different post about this anyway but I'll just include my thoughts here on it. Legends Online has really saved my ability to play the game. I am legitimately thankful for that portion of the game existing. If I only have time for a single match, I can roll it, record the results and do whatever else I have to do that day/night. I also really love the PBP simulator. I enjoy rolling matches but if I had to roll every single match on a card, it would just take me way too long. I'd never get through the matches on a card. I am getting so much enjoyment out of this game because of this one tool. I don't know if I would ever really be able to find the time to pull out my physical cards, dice and charts to roll the matches out the old fashioned way, at least not in the foreseeable future. So, thank you to everyone who made it possible and continues to keep it updated and running. I can imagine that has been a huge task. I kinda did a reboot recently because I’d do the sim on some matches if I was up hiking in the park with my dog or something, but saw there’s a few bugs in tag moves, so I wanted to start over “pure”. Now I roll (albeit it’s online) because I love the decision making with charts, ag/pw, ch’s, etc. Since I’ve quit watching sports, most TV, this is now my entertainment, so I figured I better make the most of it, lol. I still get the cards to support the game, but I don’t know if I’d still be able to play if not for online either. It’s just more crazy convenience thing. It’s been really nice here in Louisville and I love sitting outside on the patio with my dog so she can watch other dogs and people walking in the neighborhood. I can just bring my laptop out with me and play the game, even if it’s windy (something that’d be hard to do with cards) I’m also a huge stat junky with results. I have a google sheet I use with stats, rankings, etc all in it. It was a recent Facebook conversation with you that really made me realize how much I appreciate the ease of Online. And I know the PBP sim is far from perfect, I just don't always care. The matches where I care more, I may choose to roll out myself. I'm happy to have both options included in Online.

What a great topic! Alrighty, it is time for me to give my two cents... Before my return to the boards this last time, I was caught up in having to post for others and always tried to garner as many comments as I could get. It was getting to me like thinking to myself "why is this person getting all the comments- he/she fed isn't all that (or something like that)?" I became self involved and write ups became work... apparently I am known for long write ups. My mind would get "that way" and I would get caught in the drama (whether there was some or not)...so, I stepped away! A couple of years (probably close to 4 or 5 actually) later...I came back to the game and wondered if I should start over. Swarm convinced me to continue with the fed I had already as I worked hard for the fed's (have over 1000 cards) history and Pariah convinced me to post results that I like...for me and no one else. If it isn't fun, change things... So, here I am almost a year later...I have been posting pretty regularly and slowly catching up...I run my GWF, a FTR (easily my fav fed storyline wise atm), and a results based LOW fed. Whenever it becomes an issue or don't feel it, I step away from the game for a couple of days but stay involved on the board to keep my interest. Plus...my son is playing through the history of GWF and he really keeps it fresh with his tenaciousness of GWF lore and his sense of humor keeps things light hearted. Sooo...that's my theory in a nutshell.

In my trolling days (which I am sorry for) I’d pretend there was one way to play the game. Obviously that’s untrue. There are a lot of ways to play the game. Basic rules, advanced rules, table top, online, sim etc...And like Chad says, fun is the whole point of all games.
I think the age of the Internet has a lot to do with it. I don’t think it’s exclusive to our community. It’s a social media thing. People post stuff then sit there and check over and over for pine for ‘likes’ or followers or whatever and sometimes live and die with them. I’m not sure that matters. I read LOTS of feds, Reddit posts and other things I never reply to or like I just read it and I enjoy it. I just read it. And I guarantee nobody reads my fed more than myself. Reading my own Fed is like going through my old notebooks. I think everybody is prob their own feds no.1 fan as it should be.
The game (or any game) should never feel like work but at some point it can feel like work, and pressure and now you’re not writing for yourself or having fun. It happens. But like every bad habit you recognize it, accept it and work hard to change it.
If you’re not having fun you’re doing it wrong lol how’s that?

It's been cool to meet Marcus at ICON and see him so enthused about the game. I've appreciated your kids helping me remember how to play the game and their patience with an old timer.

Just think how awesome this is: we have three ways to play and enjoy this game. We can break out the dice and cards and play on a tabletop, can play online on a computer, phone, table of just sim a game. That’s pretty cool if you think about it.

This is a great thread. I've been playing since around 1991 and I've had a few extended hiatuses. I hate to say it but I'd probably still be on hiatus if not for the pandemic and working from home 5 days a week.
Having fun with your fed should always be the top priority. It was hard putting down COTG in favor of LOW whenever the first black and white set came out since I had my fed history stretching pretty much back to the beginning, not to mention spearheading the Bring Back Lance Atlas campaign once I got established in the online community, whatever year that was, but I was suffering from serious burnout after doing a couple 100+ card years trying to emulate the RAW-Smackdown-Monthly PPV model.
The most recent hiatus was lack of time since we had a baby on the way. Honestly, I don't remember what sparked me to pick up the dice again but my fed has been a great coping mechanism in the face of the pandemic. The hardest part now is focusing on work when I've got a hot angle brewing that I want to roll during my lunch break.

Sooo...that's my theory in a nutshell. I agree with Swarm, it would be hard to restart a fed with that much history. I agree. For myself in regards to my longest running fed, my LOW fed which is the Veas Wrestling Federation (VWF) now at 132 pages and counting, I have another 110 page thread here on this board for my LOW's earliest incarnation called Major League Wrestling (and that is in addition to another 2 years of fed thread pages for Major League Wrestling from the earlier Ingersoll board.) I had stopped playing my LOW fed for awhile once the Indy color card game began but when I returned to playing LOW following the first LOW color set release in 2016 I decided to keep that fed's history intact by just making my current fed a spinoff from that previous fed and this allows me to keep my title histories and other records intact (which I make note of in my LOW's fed title histories thread: filsingergames.proboards.com/thread/17161/vwf-title-history?page=4) For example, Bruiser Brody has won my World Championship 3 times since my current LOW color card fed started, but he is actually credited with 4 reigns as he also had one World Championship reign in my previous LOW fed.

Here's something additional: I've had times where I played a fed and didn't post but it felt like I was running a fed that didn't have TV. I've also had times were I torpedoed a fed because I had a bunch of cards I needed to type up and post. I guess I'm saying I play the cards for me but I post them for other people to read and get whatever enjoyment or inspiration from them they can.

Awesome thread. I am enjoying reading all of the responses. The bottom line is just have fun however you play the game. I am a cards and dice guy although I can understand those who love the convenience of online. I just love setting up the cards, the mat, my dice tray and rolling those dice. There is nothing like it for me.
I also love writing up the shows even if I feel that I write too much sometimes lol. I started doing a quick results section with my show writeups for those that don't want to be bothered reading and just want to know who won and lost.
I have stuck with my fed since day one, when the first legends set was released, and am now over 1300 cards deep into it. I'm proud of the long history I have with it and would not change anything though I definitely understand those that reboot if they feel the need to do so.
I have been involved in other message board communities for wrestling but now I just post here exclusively. This community is hands down number one in my opinion as we all treat each other with respect and even when having disagreements they are usually handled in a positive way.
There is nothing I love more than reading the fed results that others post here, both LOW and COTG, and although I might not put likes or comments in each one I do enjoy seeing how others are doing with their feds. This is great game and it has given me years of enjoyment, even during hard times in my life, and that is something that I truly appreciate.
