- Don't have matches just to have matches. Every match should have a purpose, even if that purpose is to get a guy out there and see how he does.
I go with a very "sports like" presentation, tracking records and rankings so, at minimum, every match impacts those and has a purpose. I use a lot of squash matches, enabling the build up of new characters. Helps create my monster heels too. If a jobber pulls off a win, he usually gets a rematch or a little story of his own. No matches for the sake of having a match!

When you're just starting a fed, with no feuds and no storylines yet, how do book the first few weeks and how do you rank your wrestlers to determine title shots, main events, etc? My first 4 to 6 shows are generally ki d of random matchups to see who rises to the top. From that I determine who is worthy of a spot in my initial title tournaments. When running a fed the most important thing is making titles feel important so title shots have to come from winning matches. Biggest pet peeve in wrestling is random title matches or #1 contender matches with people without any wins.

So one piece of advice I would add, my younger self would not understand lol. But I would say if you love it or hate it, allow yourself to be George Lucas. The story of your federation is always the story you and the dice are telling but allow yourself room to do things and change things.
In my latest incarnation of LAW, the running story I have is that the LAW federation is kind of found footage. It is someone looking back on this library of wrestling (strongly hinting to be an old Mesmer) which allows me to play things out of order but also editing things here and there. Someone said before it's fine to try things and if it doesnt work to realize that and change it. I've changed formats slightly till I found something I really like as far as running and booking shows.
I've also allowed space for me to kind of "Lucas" things if need be. Best example is something one of Olsen brothers brought up with picking up Red Talon and Duke of Destruction and then going back and adding them back into the story. Allowing yourself to be able to do things like this despite what you think of Lucas goes a long way into the story of your fed. Be flexible so let the dice do their thing and then leave things open so you can make things work for you

I'd say if your one that keeps records in a NOTEBOOK take a moment and think about how you want to do your write-ups.
In my decades of playing i used to fill two pages worth for one show! (that was a lot!)
Now I've streamed lined it to just the facing page is one show (not even using the back of said page) to get a clear picture of what happened during the show ect

Otherwise, I forget half of it. Getting older sucks!

No matches for the sake of having a match! The beauty, of course, is when the dice take it all in a different direction. Scott Casey and Ron Hutchison have basically been a babyface jobber team for me...but the dice have suddenly taken a liking to Casey and now he's picking up upset wins, slowly working his way up the ranks.

Yeah, I record wins and losses and the finish, and then add in any additional key notes I need in "Match Notes" underneath...but I DEFINITELY have to do it DURING the show, not after.

Am I the only one who, when starting at the first set, didn't hold tournaments for the belts?
The GWF was in media res after all--we're coming upon it in the middle of the plot, rather than at the beginning. The sample card in the back of the first booklet had Thantos as the Galaxian Champion and the Greek Gods as tag champs, so that's what I went with. Plus Thantos' drawing was wearing a title belt, so I took that to be canon that he was the reigning champion. I did hold an Interstellar Championship tournament in 2089 since it was a new belt being established.
This is just something to consider--to treat your fed as something already ongoing rather than starting from scratch.

If I ever do the first set again, I'll probably go with Thantos rather than a tournament. With limited time, I don't have the inclination to run lengthy tournaments anymore.

I agree with most if not all the stuff on here. But I have one rule over all others.
Do what entertains me.
I mean at the end of the day we play this to have fun. So bending/breaking any rules, mine or the games, is perfectly fine if it results in me having more fun. My feds are in my universe and I am the GODSEND in my universe.
