William Muldoon over Harley Race wasn't a huge shock but I was not expecting it at any rate. Congrats to Muldoon on the big win as well as his first title defense against Shane Douglas. I really like the Masked Superstar moving in on Race as far as who gets the next title shot against Muldoon.
Speaking of shocking, Tully Blanchard beating Magnum T.A. in the loser leaves town I Quit match with Barry Windham throwing in the towel. Wow! I definitely didn't expect to see that.
All of Card 37 was awesome. MLW is firing away on all cylinders my friend.

Card 038 – Maple Leaf Wrestling – Ringside – The Forum, Hamilton, Ontario (2021.12.18) Hillbilly Jim v. George TragosReferee: Joey Marella This was a long battle that was dominated early by the size of Hillbilly Jim but he was not able to get the three count and Tragos used his vast toolkit of holds and counters to take over the match. A series of Grecian Sleeper Grips really took a toll on Jim but with the fans behind him, he managed to make an impressive comeback but only gained a pair of near falls before Tragos targeted the lower body and regained control of the match. Tragos eventually picked up the win with a grinding toehold. Winner: George Tragos *** ½ Falls Count Anywhere Match – Rock Riddle v. Mikey WhipwreckReferee: Joey Marella This was out and into the Forum after only a few minutes and it was mayhem. Riddle was slammed into the souvenir stand and the fall but managed to come back and slam Whipwreck into the other souvenir stand. Whipwreck grabbed a crutch from a fan and smashed Riddle with it. Riddle came back and locked in a BOSTON CRAB in the middle of the ring but Whipwreck made the ropes to keep the action going. The action went back and forth and spilled out into the crowd and into the rest rooms. Riddle trapped Whipwreck in a second BOSTON CRAB and Whipwreck tapped the floor and that was it. Winner: Rock Riddle *** ½ Marcus Alexander Bagwell & 2 Cold Scoprio v. British Bulldogs (Dynamite Kid & Davey Boy Smith)Referee: Dick Woehrle Handshakes before the bell. Smith and Scorpio trade moves but the Bulldogs are able to makes a series of tags and cut off Scorpio from his corner. A double shoulder block gets a near fall and a TOWER OF LONDON nearly ends it. Kid then lands a DIVING HEAD BUTT and gets the three count while Bagwell’s pin save is blocked. Winners: British Bulldogs * Shane Douglas w/Francine v. Jackie FargoReferee: Joey Marella The fans were on their feet as Fargo made his debut in the territory. Douglas looked shocked and Fargo took full advantage landing a big right hand and a roaring forearm before ending the match quickly with an ATOMIC DROP. Winner: Jackie Fargo. DUD Valiant Brothers (“Handsome” Jimmy Valiant & “Luscious” Johnny Valiant) w/Captain Lou Albano v. Barry Windham & “Raging Bull” Manny Fernandez Referee: Joey Marella The fans were all over the Valiant Brothers and could not be happier when Fernandez and Windham control early. Jimmy Valiant looked to be in some serious trouble but a arm bar and hair pull turns things around against Windham. Luscious Johnny lands a jumping stomp for a two count on Windham and then executes a perfect SWINNING NECKBREAKER for the win [snake eyes!]. Winners: Valiant Brothers * Harley Race is interviewed by Gordon Solie but things are interrupted when Masked Superstar arrives and starts a wild brawl. Number One Contenders Match: Harley Race v. Masked SuperstarReferee: Morgan Dollar Superstar went for the pin the moment the two hit the ring and nearly stole the win. This was an absolute war from start to finish. Controversy struck however when Dollar was knocked down after a deathjump. Superstar unleashed a SWINGING NECKBREAKER and a COBRA HOLD but Dollar was down and out. Race battled back and looked to have the match won after a VERTICAL SUPLEX but again Dollar had not recovered. Once Dollar regained his senses, it was back and forth with neither man able to get the advantage until both went for a clothesline at the same time. Race regained his feet first and took control first with a deathlock before planting Superstar with a back suplex for the three count. Winner: Harley Race. **** WRESTLING SUNDAY January 9th 7:30 PM

Great action on the recent Ringside show, particularly the big wins for Harley Race and the Valiant Brothers. Rock Riddle has also fared pretty well in his matches which is cool to see.

Really enjoying the program between Scorpio & Bagwell and the Bulldogs, even though their last encounter wasn't quite up to par with others... And very cool that Race was able to thwart the fierce efforts of Masked Superstar to become the top contender.
Really looking forward to Kai vs. Burke in round two of the Trillium title tournament... Awesome stuff!

Winner: Bruiser Costa DUD Tully Blanchard w/J.J. Dillon v. Al Snow w/HeadReferee: Joey Marella Blanchard had control of this one from the outset and dominated the action in and out of the ring. The fans were livid when Dillon appeared to hand Blanchard a foreign object and soon Snow was wearing the crimson mask. The Head Chant lifted Snow and he came back and when Head interfered the fans erupted but the result was just a two count. Snow had control now and hit Blanchard with a SNOW PLOW but Dillon was able to distract Marella and the match continued. Winner: Mildred Burke DUD Chris Candido & “Mr. Electricity” Steve Regal v. Chaz Taylor & Tugboat TaylorReferee: Morgan Dollar The Taylors were making their debut and they soon found themselves in trouble when Candido knocked Tugboat off the top of the corner early sending the big man crashing to the mat. Candido and Regal looked impressive cutting off both Taylors for long stretches. A pair of flapjacks to Chaz Taylor did damage. The Taylor had the fans behind them however and mounted a comeback that lead to an ANCHOR DROP to Candido but Regal made the save and the action continued. Candido and Regal managed to cut off Chaz Taylor once again and Regal put him away with a Russian leg sweep while Candido blocked the pin save. Winners: Chris Candido & Steve Regal ** Jim Londos v. SandmanReferee: Morgan Dollar The busy night for Morgan Dollar continued as he had strict instruction for both competitors before the bell. Londos wrestled early working the lower body but Sandman brawled his way into control. The fans were not happy when Sandman cracked Londos with a SINGAPORE CANE for a near fall. Londos kicked out after a WHITE RUSSIAN LEG SWEEP but was in some serious trouble as Sandman tossed him to the floor several times before grabbing a SIGNAPORE CANE a second time. This time, Dollar had had enough and disqualified Sandman. Londos is battered as the fans boo Sandman out of the ring. Winner: Jim Londos by disqualification. Canadian Open Tag Team Title Match: Road Warriors (Hawk & Animal) w/Paul Ellering v. Powers of Pain (The Barbarian & Warlord) w/Mr. FujiReferee: Morgan Dollar Dollar makes a controversial decision and sends the managers to the back before the match. The fans were psyched as Hawk uses his agility to get the better of Warlord and then press slammed his challenger while the crowd roared. Both sides were able to make tags and Animal took it to Barbarian. Hawk kept the pressure on and then the Warriors crushed Barbarian with a DOOMSDAY DEVICE. Dollar made the three count while the pin save was blocked. Winners: Road Warriors * WRESTLING SUNDAY January 9th 7:30 PM

The Roadies pretty much dominated the PoP in that main event... Hopefully, the Bulldogs will give the champs more of a run for their money -- Dream match potential, to be sure... Enjoying the exploits of Candido & Regal as well... Fun times!
