Card 05 – Maple Leaf Wresting – TV – Memorial Gardens, Guelph, Ontario
Gordon Solie greets the fans and is immediately joined by Masked Supertar who cuts a calculated promo on the finish of his match with Jimmy Snuka back at Maple Leaf Gardens [card 03] and he demands that he be given a rematch with the Superfly. Teddy Long comes up and interrupts Superstar to schedule Superstar in an immediate match with the Canadian Heavyweight Champion!
Non-Title Match – Canadian Heavyweight Champion Jimmy Snuka defeated Masked Superstar. The fans were psyched for see Snuka but Superstar dominated early and had the fans worried. Snuka made a comeback during a brawl on the floor and then hit his SUPERFLY LEAP but Superstar managed to kick out at the last possible second. Snuka was not rattled however and continued to attack his opponent including an impressive piledriver before going to the top for a second SUPERFLY LEAP to claim the victory. * ½.
Fantastics are interviewed by Gordon Solie before their first round match of the Canadian Open Tag Team Title Tournament and are confident they will be in the finals in Toronto [Card 08]. Fantastics (Bobby Fulton & Tommy Rogers) over “Iron” Mike DiBiase & Angelo Poffo in the Canadian Open Tag Team Title Tournament. The Fantastics were fired up when they hit the ring and quickly cut off DiBiase and went to work with impressive double teaming including a ROCKET LAUNCHER but DiBiase showed some toughness kicking out at the last second. Poffo was able to get in the action but the momentum never really changed. Fulton nearly took the win with a FANTASTIC CRADLE but it took a second ROCKET LAUNCHER to send the Fantastics into the next round with Rogers getting the pin from Morgan Dollar. **
Gordon Solie reminds us that Maple Leaf Wrestling returns to Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto [Card 08] featuring the finals of the Canadian Open Tag Team Championship Tournament plus a Canadian Heavyweight Title Match.
Next week, the Canadian Open Tag Team Tournament continues and Rob Van Dam will take on Iron Sheik in a Falls Count Anywhere Match!
Bruiser Brody & Stan Hansen destroyed Billy Red Lyons & Brad Armstrong. Morgan Dollar has strict instructions for both teams before the bell after Hansen & Brody clear ringside with swinging chains and bull ropes. Hansen gets into the ring with Lyons and then Armstrong. Hansen suplexes Armstrong hard to the mat and then turns him inside out with a LARIAT for the one-sided victory. Dud
Booker’s notes: Lenny Lane has given his notice and departed the territory.

Colossal statement by Brody & Hansen in that utterly one-sided main event... Enjoyed the opening match of the tag title tournament and long forward to its continuation... As well as that Falls Count Anywhere match between RVD and Iron Sheik... Maple Leaf Wrestling always delivers!

Card 06 – Maple Leaf Wresting – TV – Civic Centre, Brantford, Ontario
We are welcomed to the show and we go to Gordon Solie and Commissioner Teddy Long who recap the Canadian Open Tag Team Championship Tournament bracket and hype tonight’s featured matches and Falls Count Anywhere main event between Rob Van Dam and Iron Sheik.
Canadian Open Tag Team Championship Tournament
Kip James & Ric Mccord upset Original Midnight Express (Dennis Condrey & Randy Rose) w/Jim Cornette and Mr. Hughes. Morgan Dollar causes some ruckus when he decides to send Jim Cornette and Mr. Hughes to the back before the bell spoiling the first appearance of Hughes. The Express are thrown off by the pre-match activities and James capitalizes controlling against Condrey. Mccord looks to keep the momentum going but Rose is able to get into the match. Mccord uses his agility to get out of a front facelock and then uses a fireman’s carry slam for a near fall on Rose before coming off the top with a FLYING BODY PRESS for the pin while James blocks the pin save. *
Canadian Heavyweight Champion Jimmy Snuka is interviewed and is confronted by Brad Armstrong who challenges Superfly to a rematch for the gold. Snuka accepts and Commissioner Teddy Long comes out to make it official for the upcoming Maple Leaf Gardens show [Card 08].
Gordon Solie recaps the official rankings before tonight’s action:
Canadian Heavyweight Champion: Jimmy Snuka 1. Stan Hansen 2. Brad Armstrong 3. Iron Sheik 4. Bruiser Brody 5. Rob Van Dam 6. Marty Jannetty 7. Masked Superstar 8. Kip James 9. “Iron Mike” DiBiase 10. Brutus Beefcake
Canadian Open Tag Team Champions: Vacant 1. Fantastics 2. Bruiser Brody & Stan Hansen 3. Original Midnight Express 4. Brutus Beefcake & Marty Jannetty 5. Long Riders
Canadian Open Tag Team Championship Tournament
Long Riders (“Wild” Bill Irwin & Scott “Hog” Irwin) over Brutus Beefcake & Marty Jannetty. The fans were solidly behind Beefcake and Jannetty and Jannetty responded with a strong opening leading up to a ROCKER DROPPER for a big near fall on Bill Irwin. A top rope fist drop followed by “Hog” Irwin made the save. Beefcake kept things rolling but a key defensive tag and then a double team attack turned the match. Beefcake ended up in some trouble kicking out a pair of covers from Scott Irwin but it was an attack with the bullwhip by “Wild” Bill that led to the heat gaining three count on Beefcake sending the Long Riders into the semi-finals. **

Maple Leaf Gardens, Toronto, ON [Card 08] Canadian Heavyweight Title Match – Jimmy Snuka [ch] v. Brad Armstrong Canadian Open Tag Team Tournament Finals
We get a recap of the history between Iron Sheik & Rob Van Dam including the battle in the opening round of the Canadian Heavyweight Title. Rob Van Dam w/Bill Alfonso defeated Iron Sheik in a Falls Count Anywhere Match. Sheik was able to get the mic and gave it the fans before the bell. Van Dam looked right at home under the falls count anywhere stipulation connecting with an early Van Daminator before things went to ringside. Sheik was slammed onto a ringside table and was sent into the ring post three times. Sheik was a bloody mess but managed to turn things around running Van Dam into hockey boards of the Civic Centre and then bouncing Van Dam face first into the ring post busting him open. Sheik nearly scored the pin on the locker room floor but the timely distraction of Alfonso kept Van Dam alive. Van Dam made a comeback and a second Van Daminator downed Sheik in the washroom where Van Dam covered him for the three count! *** ½ [snake eyes!] Van Dam is not finished and uses the chair to smash Sheik several times and then chokes him with the weapon. Officials storm into the restroom and pull Van Dam away as we head off the air!

Kip James & Ric McCord look like a fun pairing... Totally impressed with their performance against the OME... At this point, I think I might actually have McCord team up with Beefcake in my Legends fed since they both appeared to debut within a year of each other.
And a very exciting showdown between RVD and Iron Sheik to close out the show... Great stuff, as always!

Card 07 – Maple Leaf Wresting – TV – Civic Centre, Brantford, Ontario
Gordon Solie opens the show with Commissioner Teddy Long and they review the action that closed out the last show. Long confirms that Sheik did suffer injuries in the post match attack by Van Dam. Long then announces that Van Dam has been suspended for four cards for his actions including not complying with the direction of Maple Leaf Wrestling officials and assaulting a Maple Leaf Wrestling Official.
Angelo Poffo pinned Redd Dogg. Dogg was making his debut and had a confident start controlling his opponent but Poffo was able to counter a bear hug and used an arm bar to lead to a NECKBREAKER that was just enough to get the three count. * ½
Kip James & Ric Mccord are interviewed by Gordon Solie who congratulates the team on their big victory last week but the due is attacked by the Long Riders who take the team to the ring. Canadian Open Tag Team Title Tournament
Long Riders (“Wild” Bill Irwin & Scott “Hog” Irwin) over Kip James & Ric Mccord. The Cinderella Story came to a crashing halt as the Long Riders carried on the pre-match attack from bell to bell in this one to reach the finals. Neither James or Mccord to get anything going and a SUPERPLEX from Scott Irwin pinned Mccord to end the beat down. Dud.
Long Riders are interviewed after the match and tell Gordon Solie they will be the Canadian Open Tag Team Champions but the interview is interrupted by Marty Jannetty & Brutus Beefcake who call out the Long Riders on their controversial cheating tactics and demand a match with them next week. The Long Riders agree but demand it be a Street Fight. Jannetty & Beefcake are game!
Canadian Open Tag Team Title Tournament
Bruiser Brody & Stan Hansen defeated Fantastics (Bobby Fulton & Tommy Rogers). The speed and double teaming of the Fantastics keep Brody off pace early on and gave them a one count before Brody was able ram Rogers back first into the ring post. Somehow, Rogers survived a LARIAT from Hansen moments later but the Fantastics were never able to get back into the action as the brawling and power of Brody & Hansen was too much for their smaller opponents to overcome. Hansen would get the pin after a suplex on Fulton. **

Can't go wrong with a Brody/Hansen team. Jannetty and Beefcake against the Long Riders should be fun.
