I figured out how to improve the Pistons winning %. Stop the games after the 1st quarter. Today against Orlando and the other day against the LA Clippers we lead after the 1st quarter. After that, things went south.

I know it's hard to stay positive, but not even to the all-star break and you need only 3 more wins to secure no worse than tying the 73 76ers.

Pistons making some interesting trades today. One, with Minnesota, seems about opening cap space for the summer. Could be trying to go after a high-end FA or two. The other move, with Utah, seems about getting help now and if he works out, they can try and sign him to an extension once the season is over as he will be an RFA.

Yep. The Pistons traded the two men most likely to be traded. Bogdanovic and Burks. They traded them to the same team, the Knicks. I was hoping for a bit more, but it is what it is. Four players and yet another 2nd round pick. One player, Grimes, is young and has potential. Another looks like he would have value elsewhere but probably too late to flip. The other two I would guess either get cut or are on last year of their contract so opens some cap space this summer. Bogdanovic was a good player, even if his defense was lacking, but his being traded opens minutes for our young guys to get more experience.

on_the_edge, your Detroit Pistons today actually acquired one of my former students as they got Troy Brown Jr. in their trade with Minnesota. Troy Brown Jr. was a student of mine in World History Honors during the 2014-2015 school year when he was ESPN's #2 prospect in high school basketball. Troy was a great kid and an excellent student and I hope he plays well for the Pistons.

With all the trade talk I missed that we beat the Kings on the road. Looking at the scoring quarter by quarter, you get a feel how our season has gone. 1st quarter we were -5. 2nd quarter we were +12. 3rd quarter we were -9. 4th quarter we were +15. Ended up winning by 13. Bogdanovic did not play but Burks did and scored 25 off the bench and had a +12 while he was on the floor.

Just 3 more wins to avoid having worse record in NBA history. We might end up with the second worst record in NBA history if we don't get really hot. We need 9 wins to avoid that.

Last night we beat Portland to win back-to-back games for the first time since October. Even though our 1st round pick from last year went 1-14 from inside the arc. He was 7-7 from beyond the arc to help. But damn, 1-14? I bet I could shoot that. Then our phenom big man Duran scored 27 and had 22 rebounds. He shot 9-14 from inside the arc and an impressive 9-10 from the free throw line. Imagine a player these days, especially a big man, shooting that good from the line.
