With all the recent trades and moves I went to check the lineup yesterday. I did not see Killian Hayes in the depth chart but he was on the roster. He was not listed as injured so I was confused. Found out today they cut him to get down to the 15 man roster spot. A shame as we spent a 1st round pick, 7th over all, on him but he never really worked out. He was too inconsistent and did not shoot good. He would have a game or two where he would shot good and/or pick up a lot of assists but then go on a streak of stinker games. He is still young, 22 and not 23 till July, so he might get another chance in the league. Just not with us it seems. In hind sight I wonder where we would be if we drafted Tyrese Haliburton instead.

The winning streak is over. But that is ok. We were playing one of the top 5 teams in the Clippers and on the road to boot. We actually were up 9 at half and 5 going into the 4th quarter. They outscored us by 11 down the stretch and we lost by only 6. I wonder if the free throws had something to do with it. They were nearly perfect at 25 out of 26 made. The Pistons WERE perfect but only 7 of 7. So, they took 19 more free throws, almost 4 times as many and made 18 more in a 6-point game. Fouls were 19 on Pistons and 13 on Clippers.

The Pistons lost to the Pacers tonight. What makes it hard to see is seeing Haliburton on the other side doing his thing. He is averaging a double-double in points and assists this season and he did it again tonight. He had 25 points and 13 assists. He COULD have been a Piston, but we passed on him in the 2020 draft for Killian Hayes who we cut earlier this month. That is a miss we will have to live with for years.
On the positive side our two young guards, Cunningham and Ivey, both finished on the positive side in the +/- as they combined for 44 points, 7 rebounds and 11 assists. Not the best stats but the + means they were playing good D while on the floor. Over the season it has looked like they were soft on D in many games. Our young center Duran had a double-double with 15 points and 13 rebounds. He shot 7-11 from the field. Hopefully we can keep improving and finish the season strong.

If the Pistons can win tonight, IF, they will not be alone in the cellar. Washington, who stands half a game ahead of us with the same number of losses and one more win, would be tied with us. Let's go Pistons.

The Pistons cut Mike Muscala. They traded for him about a month and a half ago. His numbers were on par with his career averages in the 13 games, 4 starts, he played with us. His FG% over all was low but his % from behind the arc were good. What makes this weird is the other man they got in that trade, Danilo Gallinari, was cut back on the 9th of the month after 6 games with us. We traded Marvin Bagley III (not a big loss but maybe we gave up on him too early, he is only 24), Isaiah Livers (I like him, he is a UofM man, but not a big loss) and future draft consideration. I can only guess the trade was to see what the two guys we got MIGHT do for us and if nothing special as the case turned out to be we cut them to open cap space going into the off season. Hope it all works out in the long run for us and does not look like another bad move by management.

There is an article on ESPN about Bronny James decision on declaring for the draft this summer will be based on team interest. I think he needs another year in college. His numbers are just not there. Beyond the stats being low his .374 FG % and .275 from beyond the arc are just not going to cut it in the NBA. That is if he could even keep them that "high" in the NBA. Odds are they would be lower when facing better defensive players.

Pistons shot horribly today and lost 113-91 but they had one more assist. So, at least they were passing and working as a team. If they shot better the loss would have been by less and we would have even a bigger assist difference.

Still did better than the Warriors at least. Yea that was brutal. If it happened this coming Sunday we could at least say the Warriors forgot to set their clocks forward and we late for the first half.
