THE WEEKDAY GRINDYEAR ONE TOUR ONE SHOW TWO SUBSHOW TWO SALEM, OR
- Β BIG VAN VADER pulverized NACHO BARRERA with a power body slam (SQUASH);
National Championship Tournament Match: - BRUISER BRODY won against IVAN KOLOFF by disqualification MATCH NOTES: The Russian Bear was in control of this bout and even leveled Brody with his signature move- RUSSIAN SICKLE! However, Koloff's hubris would be his downfall as he was discovered by the official using his steel chain. Bruiser Brody was awarded the victory as a result of a disqualification (1/2*);
- JUSTIN CREDIBLE bashed TIM MEADOWS via. THAT'S INCREDIBLE (SQUASH);
National Tag Team Championship Tournament Match: - VARSITY CLUB (SULLIVAN/ROTUNDA)(w/ FALLEN ANGEL) cheated MIDNIGHT EXPRESS (w/ JIM CORNETTE),after Mike Rotunda used a DOUBLE ARM SUPLEX on Bobby Eaton MATCH NOTES: What a mess! Both teams were in the ring so much that the referee couldn't keep tabs on which two men were the legal men in the squared circle. In the waning moments, the Midnight Express executed a perfect VEG-A-MATIC on Mike Rotunda that would have garnered the pin fall but Sullivan broke up the attempt. Rotunda fired back with the Varsity Team clubbing Eaton with massive forearms in their corner but Cornette would stick his nose (and tennis racket) into the foray. Jim Cornette whacked Rotunda good with the tennis racket and the Fallen Angel would distract the referee to stop any three count attempt. While Eaton was trying to get the ref to pay attention, Sullivan slid a steel chair under the ropes and Rotunda executed a DOUBLE ARM SUPLEX. He tossed the chair out onto the ring floor and the referee turned around to slap the canvas thrice (** 3/4);
National Championship Tournament Match: - STAN HANSEN squeezed by "BRUISERWEIGHT" PETE DUNN via. LARIAT MATCH NOTES: Pete Dunn (like Koloff) thought he had this match won after two BITTER END maneuvers but the Lariat would prove to be tougher than Pete thought. At one point, Dunn tossed Hansen out onto the concrete floor and casually waited for his opponent to crawl back into the ring. The Englishman ran towards the reentering Hansen and was unexpectedly became a recipient of a LARIAT for the three count.
Hansen began celebrating and taunting the fans but instead of jeering were screaming with glee! Hansen was confused and began to turn around to head back to the locker room . This is when Stan found out what the crowd were cheering about...it was H.C.W.'s superstar- Kenny Omega! Omega nonchalantly waved at Hansen, immediately performed a lightning quick snap DDT, and followed suite withΒ the Croyt's Wrath maneuver! The last scene beforeΒ the camera left the airwaves was the HCW star leaving the ring. (** 1/2)
UPDATE: The 'Elite Eight' for the National Championship has been determined. They are (in no particular order): Rob Van Dam, Abdullah the Butcher, Terry Gordy, Kevin Sullivan, Bruiser Brody, Magnum TA, Bobo Brazil, and Stan Hansen. Β

Really like seeing Dunne mixed in with this crop of talent... Too bad he couldn't get past the Lariat.
Gotta pick the Whole F'n Show to claim the title... After all, Who's better than ROB--VAN--DAM? Not Vader... HAHAHA!

PNW POWER HOUR YEAR ONE TOUR ONE SHOW TWO SUBSHOW THREE Salem, OR- ROB VAN DAM pummeled STEVE CORINO via. FIVE STAR FROG SPLASH MATCH NOTES: RVD had very little resistance from Corino and used several high flying antics (including Van Daminator) to set up the FIVE STAR FROG SPLASH for the duke. "Mister Saturday Night" once again had his hand raised in victory. (** 1/2)- BOBBY EATON made quick work of MIKE ROTUNDA via. ALABAMA JAM MATCH NOTES: A rematch (of sorts) of the National Tag Team Championship Tournament and surprisingly Eaton was being cheered throughout the entirety of the match. As expected, Jim Cornette constantly ran his mouth out on the arena floor and even used his tennis racket on Rotunda. "Beautiful" Bobby had control of the contest after a slingshot backbreaker early and would use two consecutive ALABAMA JAMS for the three count. (*)National Tag Team Championship Tournament:- The Broserweights slapped around the FREEBIRDS, after Matt Riddle made Michael "P.S." Hayes tap out with a CROSS ARMBREAKER MATCH NOTES: The action went back and forth with both teams playing up to the Salem, OR fans. Matt Riddle would gain the upper hand for his team as he employed maneuvers from his MMA background. The 'bro' would lock the CROSS ARMBREAKER on Hayes in the middle of the ring and the Freebird tried everything he could think of to unsuccessfully break the hold. Hayes finally had no choice and tapped out and the Broserweights will move on in the tag tournament. (* 3/4)National Champioship Tournament:- Abdullah the Butcher won against Bobo Brazil via. SUDANESE MEAT CLEAVER MATCH NOTES: A blood bath! Early on, Bobo Brazil tried to stay away from the Sudanese native except for quick strikes including several COCO BUTT finishers! Sadly, Paul Jones would stick his nose in the contest and this would shift the balance of power permanently. The Butcher began his overly aggressive offense that he has become known for i.e. use of illegal objects and busted open the Michigan native's forehead! After a big splash in the turnbuckle, Abdullah used the SUDANESE MEAT CLEAVER and covered his crimson covered opponent for the victory. (****)

Slick win for the Bros, Dunne & Riddle... Thinking they will fare quite well among the tag team ranks... And of course, I'm stoked with the Whole F'n Show continuing to build momentum... Who's better than ROB--VAN--DAM? Not Vader! *This is my new trademark catchphrase.

SATURDAY NIGHT AT THE MATCHESYEAR ONE TOUR ONE SHOW THREE EUGENE, OR- MICHAEL HAYES blasted EL JAGUAR via. BULLDOG (SQUASH); National Tag Team Championship Tournament: ROCK & ROLL EXPRESS outlasted THE BROSERWEIGHTS, after Robert Gibson used DOUBLE DROP KICK on Matt Riddle MATCH NOTES: The R-n-R Express had their opponents on their heels the entire bout as the southern boys kept off the canvas to stymy Matt Riddle's and Pete Dunn's submission style. In the waning moments, the Express used a DOUBLE DROP KICK and Gibson covered Riddle for the count (* 3/4). - DYNAMITE KID whipped "SUGAR" SHAYNE via. DIVING HEAD BUTT (SQUASH); National Tag Team Championship Tournament: - MIRACLE VIOLENCE CONNECTION won against DOUBLE JEOPARDY after Justin Credible was disqualified against Steve Williams MATCH NOTES: The MVC simply outmuscled their hardcore opponents and the duo of Credible and Corino knew this! Credible went back to his hardcore roots and blasted Steve Williams with a Singapore Cane across the back! The referee quickly called for the bell and awarded the contest to Williams and Gordy (1/4*) National Championship Tournament: - KEVIN SULLIVAN (w/ FALLEN ANGEL) shutdown ROB VAN DAMM via. DOUBLE FOOT STOMP MATCH NOTES: Like the previous matches on this card, this was one-sided as 'The Devious One' used several DOUBLE FOOT STOMPS on 'Mister Saturday Night' and easily covered RVD for the three count (*).

THE WEEKDAY GRINDYEAR ONE TOUR ONE SHOW THREE SUBSHOW TWO CURRY, OR- MIKE ROTUNDA dropped "TANTALIZING" TED with a jumping leg drop (SQUASH); - MIDNIGHT EXPRESS won against FREEBIRDS, after Bobby Eaton pinned Jimmy Garvin via. VEG-O-MATIC MATCH NOTES: A tremendous match! The action went back and forth with both teams pulling out all the stops! Jim Garvin nearly pinned Stan Lane but Bobby Eaton distracted the official stopping the count. Jim Cornette (of course) took advantage of said distraction and jabbed Garvin with the tennis racket! Stan Lane recovered, tagged out to Eaton, and the two performed the tag maneuver VEG-O-MATIC for the three count (***3/4)
- BIG VAN VADER powered through BOBO BRAZIL via. VADER BOMB MATCH NOTES: These two were PNW's favorites in the National Championship Tournament but both were dispatched rather quite quickly. So, that brings the two to this confrontation and it was a barn burner! Vader used his power to his advantage and kept Bobo in check until the big man missed a MOONSAULT! The Michigan native quickly executed a series of COCOA BUTTS, but went to the well one too many times as Vader caught Brazil in mid-air, and plastered him with a gruesome belly-to back suplex. Vader followed up with a VADER BOMB and as they say in the business- "that's all she wrote." (*** 1/2)Melina Cortez stood uneasy in the interview area while her guest swung a cowbell attached to a bull rope above his head. She nervously asked, "Stan, you recently visited our sister fed (HCW) and weren't exactly welcomed by the Young Bucks and Kenny Omega..."
Stan Hansen interrupted, "Don't you go and worry your pretty little head about that Melina (Hansen spits out tobacco juice onto the concrete floor) because I have a solution to those skinny peckerwoods that dress like a bunch of sissies ready to have a sleepover!"
The Texas native motions to someone offstage and a figure walks out to a huge roar of approval from the Curry, Oregon fans- it's Michael Elgin! Elgin strolls up to Stan Hansen and the unlikely duo shake hands.
"That's right boys," Stan continued, "the Alpha himself has come to assist me in putting the Young Sucks (Smiles and spits again) in their place. Whatcha say boys? I will even come to you next week! Do ya got the guts or are ya yella?"
"Omega, don't think that I forgot about your spoiled [censored] either because after I take care of your pretty boy cronies- you are going to hear bells...cowbells!" Hansen concluded. With that being said, Hansen and Elgin walked to the locker room and Melina motioned the camera back to the ring. National Tag Team Championship Tournament:- BRITISH BULLDOGS lucked out against THE BUTCHER & THE BEAR (IVAN KOLOFF/ABDULLAH THE BUTCHER), after Davey Boy Smith pinned Ivan Koloff via. TOWER OF LONDON MATCH NOTES: Wow! This match had different styles clash in a classic match up with mat savvy meeting sheer brutality. Abdullah bludgeoned the Bulldogs with his various illegal objects and Ivan Koloff blasted Dynamite Kid with the steel chain! The Bulldogs battled through the punishment, relied on their wrestling repertoire, and would catch Ivan Koloff in a TOWER OF LONDON finisher for the duke (***3/4).NOTE: The final four of the National Tag Tournament are (in no particular order): Rock and Roll Express, British Bulldogs, Miracle Violence Connection, and the Varsity Club (Kevin Sullivan/Mike Rotunda). National Championship Tournament:- TERRY GORDY beat MAGNUM TA via. POWER BOMB MATCH NOTES: Yawn! With the talent in the ring, one would think that the main event would be stellar. Unfortunately, it wasn't even close! Both combatants couldn't get any offense going and seemed to lumber around the ring. Finally, Gordy used a POWER BOMB to put Magnum's shoulders down on the canvas and end this debacle of a match (1/2*).
