Gordon Solie: Good evening from the Sunshine State, Legends National Wrestling Association fans, I’m Gordon Solie bringing you the LNWA TUESDAY NIGHT NEWS, the best wrestling from the best wrestlers from around the world in the history of our great sport. We’ve got some big news to discuss for tonight’s show, but I’m not going to be the one to tell you about it, instead, I’m going to let my guest share the exciting association altering news. Please welcome, LNWA Commissioner Teddy Long!

*MacMilitant begins to play and LNWA Commissioner Teddy Long begins to strut and dance onto the LNWA TUESDAY NIGHT NEWS soundstage. He smiles at Gordon Solie, while reaching out his hand to shake Solie’s hand, before beginning to speak.*

Commissioner Teddy Long: Good evening Gordon, it is great to be back in The Sunshine State! Have I got some news for you and the LNWA fans watching at home!

Godron Solie: Well, don’t keep us waiting Commissioner Long!

Commissioner Teddy Long: Gordon, as you know, the Legends National Wrestling Alliance is made up of some of the greatest wrestlers from around the world, not just today, but in the history of our sport. Over the past month, the LNWA’s Board of Directors has been negotiating a way to determine our first World Heavyweight Champion. Tonight, I am excited to reveal that plan, and the 14 men that will comprise the tournament to crown our champion!

Gordon Solie: Fourteen men, that’s an interesting bracket. There appears to be two few competitors to have a bracket finish properly. Can you give the fans at home some more insight about this unique format.

Commissioner Teddy Long: Certainly, Gordon. The tournament itself will consist of six first round matchups. The remaining two second round competitors received byes into the second round on opposite ends of the bracket.

Gordon Solie: That makes perfect sense. So, Commissioner Long, can you explain to us how the LNWA Board of Directors determined who field for this tournament?

Commissioner Teddy Long: The LNWA Board of Directors has spent the past several months debating and negotiating who would be given a coveted spot in this tournament for the Ten Pounds of Gold, because, Gordon, you know it’s all about that gold, baby!

Gordon Solie: Yes, the LNWA Heavyweight Title belt. Please, continue.

Commissioner Teddy Long: So as the LNWA Board of Directors’ biggest debate was trying to figure out who should be in the tournament and what territories they should come from. As you and the fans at home know, prior to the creation of the LNWA there were many small wrestling territories across the United States and Around the World, but there were three large wrestling promotions. I am talking about the National Wrestling Alliance/World Championship Wrestling; the World Wide Wrestling Federation/World Wrestling Federation/World Wrestling Entertainment; and the American Wrestling Association. So the Board of Directors determined the following:

• Competitors had to hold a World Title in one of the promotions I mentioned.
• Each of the NWA/WCW; AWA; WWWF/WWF/WWE will receive four entrants in the tournament.

Commissioner Teddy Long: Discussions to settle on the first two points took approximately two weeks to settle on. However, the final question was who would receive the two first round byes? As many fans know the AWA ceased to exist long before the WCW, so the board came to a third decision:

• The NWA/WCW and the WWWF/WWF would receive one additional entrant in the tournament, and both would receive a first round bye.

Gordon Solie: That sounds like a very fair solution. So are you ready to tell us what lucky men will be in this tournament?

Commissioner Teddy Long: Gordon, it would be my pleasure!

*With great fanfare and panache, Commissioner Long walks to the left side of the sound stage, where the wall is curtained off, and there is a large ornate cord. Long pulls the cord, and the curtains fall, revealing a large tournament bracket with the names of the 14 wrestlers that will receive a shot to become the first LNWA Champion.*

The bracket was as follows:


8. Randy Savage vs. 9. Nick Bockwinkel winner would face 1. Ric Flair in the second round.
4. Harley Race vs. 13. Buddy Rogers
5. Verne Gagne vs. 12. Bob Backlund
7. Bruno Sammartino vs. 10. Jerry "The King" Lawler winner would face 2. Hulk Hogan in the second round
3. Lou Thesz vs. 14. Rick Martel
6. Jack Brisco vs. 11. Big Van Vader  


Gordon Solie: So, The Nature Boy Ric Flair and The Immortal Hulk Hogan received first round byes in the tournament! Some great competitors overall. Commissioner Long, when is this tournament taking place?

Commissioner Teddy Long: Gordon, fans will be excited to know that the tournament will be taking place on one night at the Greensboro Coliseum THIS SUNDAY.

Gordon Solie: Wow, fascinating news from the Legends National Wrestling Alliance commissioner, Teddy Long, and fans, you heard it here first. This Sunday, at the Greensboro Coliseum, one of 14 men will be walking away with ten pounds of gold strapped around his waist, as the first ever LNWA World Heavyweight Champion! *The first shot of the night is of a dimly lit Greensboro Coliseum. The viewers can see that the arena appears to be filled to capacity. The camera pans the crowd and then jumps to the announce table where Bobby The Brain Heenan and Gorilla Monsoon are seated close to the action.*

Gorilla Monsoon: Good evening Legends National Wrestling Alliance fans, I’m Gorilla Monsoon coming to you live from the historic Greensboro Coliseum, where tonight the LNWA will crown its first ever World Heavyweight Champion! I’m joined tonight by my colleague, Bobby “The Brain Heenan.” Brain, you’re pulling double duty tonight, managing Nick Bockwinkel, one of the fourteen competitors in tonight’s tournament. To win this tournament wrestlers in the first round, will have to win four matches against some of the greatest men to ever lace up the boots.

Bobby Heenan: Gorilla, this is going to be one of the most challenging events that these men will have ever participated in. You’ve got thirteen men that are going to have to claw, fight, and cheat to win that Ten Pounds of Gold at the end of the night. However, I’m already calling shenanigans by the LNWA’s Board of Directors and that Peanut Head, Commissioner Teddy Long.

Gorilla Monsoon: Brain, what are you complaining about?

Bobby Heenan: I’m talking about the fact that two men got byes into the second round which means they’ll only have to win three matches to win the gold!

Gorilla Monsoon: Byes in wrestling tournaments happen all the time, Brain. What makes this time any different? On one side of the bracket you have the most decorated NWA Heavyweight Champion of all time, The Nature Boy, Ric Flair, whose resume - 10 NWA World Heavyweight Titles, 7 WCW World Heavyweight Titles - speaks for itself, and on the other you have The Immortal Hulk Hogan, who some would say is the greatest --

Bobby Heenan: Sneak, cheat, backstabbing, cry baby to ever lace up the boots. I just know that he paid off that Board of Directors and that Peanut Head Teddy Long to earn that bye. His winner’s purse is going to be a lot smaller tonight after they dock his payoff for what he owes for earning that bye!

Gorilla Monsoon: Will you be serious! *MacMilitant begins to play across the arena sound system* Here comes LNWA Commissioner Teddy Long!

*Commissioner Teddy Long begins to strut out and dance to his theme music, and the arena erupts. Long has a huge grin on his face as he struts and dances down the aisle, and enters the ring. Once in the ring he encourages the crowd to continue to applaud and cheer. Finally after about two minutes, the crowd begins to quiet. Long grabs a mic and pauses before speaking.*

Commissioner Teddy Long: Holla, Holla! It feels great to be back in Greensboro, North Carolina *Crowd erupts at the cheap heat by saying the name of the city where the event is located.* Let me formally welcome each and everyone of you here tonight to a special 13 match event! At the end of the night one of fourteen men will remain standing and will be presented, by me, the Ten Pounds of Gold, the LNWA World Heavyweight Title, as they are crowned the first ever LNWA World Champion!

*Crowd cheers loudly for this, which causes Long to have to wait for the noise to quiet.*

Commissioner Teddy Long: Well, I can tell from that response y’all are ready for the action, so I’ll stop talking, and let’s get things kicked off right now with the night’s first match!

LNWA Men’s World Title Tournament First Round Matches

#6 Jack Brisco vs. #11 Big Van Vader

Jack Brisco defeated Big Van Vader in 5:43 seconds by disqualification after Big Van Vader shoved the referee while he and Brisco were outside of the ring and then whalopped Brisco with a chair. Vader was on the offensive the entire match hitting a hammering forearm assault, two power body slams, and a front slam, before Brisco left the ring to regroup. Vader followed him outside and attempted to hit Brisco with a chair, and when the referee tried to intervene, Vader shoved him, and hit Brisco with the chair earning the disqualification. Jack Brisco moves on to the quarter finals to face the winner of the Rick Martel vs. Lou Thesz match later tonight!

#8 Randy Savage vs. #9 Nick Bockwinkel w/Bobby “The Brain" Heenan

Nick Bockwinkel defeated Randy Savage in 10:19 after Savage was knocked out following the BOCKWINKEL SLEEPER. The match was a back and forth affair but turned after Bockwinkel countered an attempted rope straddle by Savage. Bockwinkel used his abdominal stretch, and back suplex to soften Savage up before placing him in the FIGURE FOUR LEGLOCK, which Savage was able to break once he reached the ropes. Bockwinkel then put Savage to sleep with his BOCKWINKEL SLEEPER to win the match. Savage took four fatigue tokens. Bockwinkel moves on to the quarter finals where he will face The Nature Boy Ric Flair in the quarterfinals of the tournament!




#4 Harley Race vs. #13 Buddy Rogers

In a shocking upset, Buddy Rogers pinned Harley Race after a piledriver at 11:27. The match was being controlled by Race for the early part of the match, and included him hitting his VERTICAL SUPLEX on Rogers who managed to kick out of the pinfall attempt. The match turned in Rogers’s favor after he got the better of Race in a brawl outside the ring, and then went on the offensive, locking Race in his FIGURE FOUR LEG GRAPEVINE. Race managed to reach the ropes to break the hold however Rogers continued his onslaught, surviving getting thrown off the top rope on an attempted leap, and taking control again after reversing a whip into the turnbuckle. The match ended after Rogers executed a piledriver on Race. Rogers took one fatigue token and Race took five fatigue tokens. Rogers moves onto the quarterfinals where he awaits the winner of the Verne Gagne vs. Bob Backlund matchup later in the night.

#3 Lou Thesz vs. #14 Rick Martel

Lou Thesz made Rick Martel submit in 9:23 with the stepover toehold facelock, to advance to the quarterfinals later tonight. Martel was actually in control for a good portion of the match until he missed a flying head scissors. Then, Thesz took over hitting both the THESZ PRESS immediately followed by the GRECO-ROMAN BACKDROP, both of which Martel somehow managed to kick out of. However, a fatigued Martel was unable to counter or reach the ropes when Thesz locked in a stepover toehold facelock right in the center of the ring. Martel had no choice but to submit. Martel took six fatigue tokens in the match. Thesz moves onto the quarterfinals where he will face Jack Brisco for a right to reach the semi finals.

#5 Verne Gagne vs. #12 Bob Backlund

In the second upset of the top half of the bracket, Bob Backlund defeated Verne Gagne by pinfall at 15:17 with a ROLLING BACKBRIDGE. The match itself was a very back and forth affair with both men getting a fair amount of offense in and lots of chain wrestling with counters by both men. However the match turned when Gagne whipped Backlund into the ropes on two separate occasions and was met with a flying shoulder tackle and a big shoulder tackle. Gagne was able to fight off two CROSSFACE CHICKENWINGS by reaching the ropes, and was also able to kick out of a ROLLING BACKBRIDGE, however he following an underhook suplex he was unable to kick out of a second ROLLING BACKBRIDGE. Backlund moves onto the quarterfinals of the tournament where he will face Buddy Rogers to reach the final four of this tournament.

#7 Bruno Sammartino vs. #10 Jerry “The King” Lawler

In a third upset in the first round, Jerry “The King” Lawler defeated Bruno Sammartino by pinfall in 6:37 after hitting a PILEDRIVER. The match was controlled by Lawler who on the first move of the night was whipped into the turnbuckle and moved out of the way causing a charging Sammartino to crash outside the ring. Once outside, Lawler grabbed a chair, shoved a referee, who decided to let the match continue, and crushed Sammartino with the chair. Once back in the ring Lawler hit a first PILE DRIVER, which Sammartino kicked out of, followed by a SECOND ROPE FIST DROP, which Sammartino also kicked out of. Then, a frustrated Lawler managed to avoid detection, and threw a FIREBALL into the face of Sammartino. Miraculously, Sammartino was able to kick out a third time, before Lawler hit a second PILEDRIVER to advance to the night’s quarterfinals where he will face the Immortal Hulk Hogan for a shot at the semifinals.

Quarter-Final Round of

LNWA Heavyweight Title Tournament

*Camera Cuts to “Mean” Gene Okerlund and Gordon Solie back stage looking at a large tournament bracket that has been updated with the match results from earlier in the night. Okerlund smiles and looks into the camera before speaking.*

“Mean” Gene: Good evening wrestling fans! I’m “Mean” Gene Okerlund here with Gordon Solie and we have just completed the first round of a fantastic Legends National Wrestling Alliance World Heavyweight Title Tournament. Gordon, the first round definitely had some surprises for us and the fans alike, no?

Gordon Solie: Gene, you are correct. I want to really focus on the top half of our bracket *The camera zooms in on the three matchups in the top half of the bracket.* We saw two significant upsets when Harley Race was pinned by Buddy Rogers. We also saw another upset when Bob Backlund pinned former AWA great, and founder, Verne Gagne. What does this mean for fans, it means that a double digit seed will definitely be making it to the semi-finals tonight! *Camera zooms back out to show Okerlund and Solie.*

“Mean” Gene: You mentioned the top half of the bracket, I want to focus on the bottom half. *Camera zooms in on the three first round matchups in the bottom half of the bracket.* In the very first match of the night we saw the man that many people tabbed as a first round upset favorite, Big Van Vader get disqualified in a match he was dominating against Jack Brisco. The other thing I noted about this side of the bracket is that we saw another upset, not as shocking as it occurred, but the manner in which it occurred, when Jerry “The King” Lawler defeated Bruno Sammartino. Gordon, Sammartino didn’t even get one offensive match in! That makes me wonder how much of a threat Lawler is in the rest of this tournament. A second question, Gordon, is who is your favorite now that we are down to our final eight competitors?

Gordon Solie: When the tournament bracket was first unveiled I thought Lou Thesz would be a very tough out in this tournament, and slightly favored him over The Nature Boy Ric Flair, due to the potentially tough draw Flair would have to to the finals: Savage or Bockwinkel, and a potential match versus Verne Gagne or Harley Race in the semifinals. However, the tournament has really broken Flair’s way, and he has to be the favorite now with most of the names listed out. What about you, Gene? Who is your favorite?

“Mean” Gene: My favorite since the draw was announced was The Immortal Hulk Hogan. I think his toughest match could be in the semifinals, a potential matchup against Lou Thesz, but I give him the edge in all of the potential matches the rest of the way. But, enough from us, let’s get back to the action with Gorilla Monsoon and Bobby “The Brain” Heenan.”

#13 Buddy Rogers vs. #12 Bob Backlund

In a back and forth match, Bob Backlund defeated Buddy Rogers by submission following a Boston crab at the 15:16 mark. Rogers was done in by several unnecessary risks that he took in the match, including going to the top rope twice, and each time getting thrown off by Backlund. The match truly turned when Rogers whipped Backlund into the ropes and tried to sunset flip Backlund. However, Backlund grabbed Rogers’s legs and rolled him up into a pinning combination. Rogers was able to kick out, but was placed into a Boston crab in the middle of the ring immediately after, and after trying to escape, was unable to do so, and submitted. Rogers doled out plenty of punishment including his patented FIGURE FOUR GRAPEVINE as well as a piledriver and a pinfall following Backlund crashing into the turnbuckle. In each case Backlund was able to escape. Backlund took seven fatigue tokens in the match, and moves onto the semi finals with a date with either The Nature Boy Ric Flair or Nick Bockwinkel.

#3 Lou Thesz vs. #6 Jack Brisco

In a shockingly short match, Lou Thesz pinned Jack Brisco in 4:18 after a GRECO-ROMAN BACKDROP. The match was all Thesz from the start, with Brisco getting only one offensive maneuver in, whipping Thesz into the turnbuckle in the first move of the match, after which Thesz caught a charging Brisco with a knee to the face, which allowed him to take over. Brisco was able to kick out of a pinfall attempt following an airplane spin, and reach the ropes while Thesz had him locked in a stepover toehold facelock. A frustrated Thesz hit Brisco with a chair outside of the ring, before hitting the GRECO-ROMAN BACKDROP immediately after the two returned to the ring, to earn a pinfall victory and a spot in tonight’s semifinals where he awaits the winner of The Immortal Hulk Hogan vs. Jerry “The King” Lawler.

#1 Ric Flair w/J.J. Dillon vs. #9 Nick Bockwinkel w/Bobby “The Brain Heenan”

Ric Flair defeated Nick Bockwinkel by disqualification at 8:22, after Bockwinkel shoved the referee and hit Flair with a chair. Prior to that the match was back and forth and witnessed outside interference from both J. J. Dillon and Bobby “The Brain” Heenan. Flair was able to lock-in his FIGURE FOUR LEGLOCK, which Bockwinkel was able to reverse. However, prior to the disqualification, Bockwinkel locked in two BOCKWINKEL SLEEPERS, one that Flair was able to escape, and one that Dillon interfered to stop. Flair took six fatigue tokens and Bockwinkel took four. Flair moves onto the night's second semi-final match against Bob Backlund for a right to wrestle for the LNWA WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP.

#2 Hulk Hogan vs. #10 Jerry “The King” Lawler

In a very back and forth match up, Hulk Hogan pinned Jerry “The King” Lawler in 10:12 after Lawler whipped Hogan into the turnbuckle, attempted a running clothesline, missed, and Hogan got the pin and the win. The match saw Lawler actually kick out of Hogan’s LEG DROP finisher earlier in the match, which had moments of outside brawling and a potential disqualification when Lawler hit Hogan with a steel chair. Hogan took one fatigue token and Lawler took five in a fun match that lasted longer than many had expected. Hogan moves onto the semi finals to face Lou Thesz and a chance to be the first winner of the LNWA World Heavyweight Title!

Legends National Wrestling Alliance World Heavyweight Title Tournament

Semi-Final Round

*Camera cuts to Gorilla Monsoon and a somewhat dejected Bobby “The Brain” Heenan.*

Gorilla Monsoon: And, with that three-count, Brain, we are onto the semi-final round of the tournament. Any thoughts?

Bobby Heenan: I have a ton of thoughts all of which would get me fired, or at the very least fined for saying them.

Gorilla Monsoon: What’s the matter, Brain? Upset that your interference that helped your man escape the figure four leglock, couldn’t save him from himself?

Bobby Heenan: That official clearly had it in for Nick Bockwinkel, and was looking for the “dream” finals matchup between Ric Flair and Hulk Hogan.

Gorilla Monsoon: Brain, would you be serious. Your man was caught red handed shoving an official - which could have led to a disqualification - and then hitting his opponent with a chair at ringside, which did lead to the disqualification.

Bobby Heenan: You can think whatever you want to think, but I can tell you one thing - Ric Flair and the rest of the LNWA has not seen the last of Nick Bockwinkel and the Heenan Family. And, for those fans, and probably you Monsoon, that are clamoring for that “dream” finals matchup between Flair and Hogan, if Hogan even makes it to the finals of this tournament, against Flair it’s not going to be matchup, it’s going to be a dismantling, in favor of The Nature Boy!

Gorilla Monsoon: With that, let’s throw it to “Mean” Gene Okerlund and Gordon Solie with our recap of the quarter final round.

*Camera cuts to Okerlund and Solie standing in front of the large tournament bracket talking animatedly before realizing that they are on camera.*

Gordon Solie: Thank you Gorilla and Bobby! Well, “Mean” Gene, we are down to our final four. Do you have any thoughts at all about the four matches we saw?

“Mean” Gene: I really want to talk about the bottom half of the bracket. *Camera zooms into the two quarter finals matches on the bottom of the bracket.* The first matchup was Lou Thesz versus Jack Brisco. I gotta tell you, Thesz has probably looked the best out of any of the competitors we’ve seen tonight, having little trouble with Rick Martel or Jack Brisco. Then, the other match, which was a bit closer than I was expecting, saw The Immortal Hulk Hogan defeat a scrappy Jerry “The King” Lawler after Lawler kicked out of Hogan’s infamous leg drop finisher. Gordon, I have got to tell you that Hogan may struggle to reach the finals tonight with the way Thesz is wrestling.

Gordon Solie: I couldn't agree more, Gene. The problem for Hogan could be the contrasting style that Thesz wrestles. If he can take away Hogan’s power game, it could be a long night for Hogan. However, I’d really like to focus on the top half of the bracket’s quarter finals matchups. *The camera zooms in on the top half of the bracket’s quarter finals matches.* First we saw Bob Backlund show his guts when he made a shocking comeback against Buddy Rogers. Rogers really only has himself to blame, as it was his errors that arguably allowed Backlund back into the match. In the other match, Flair won by disqualification over Nick Bockwinkel. Bockwinkel had the match in his hands, and threw it away due to what? Frustration? Fear? We’ll never know, it was just so uncharacteristic of him.

“Mean” Gene: That it was, Gordon. That it was. We’ve got some amazing semi-finals matches coming your way, let’s throw it back to the ring!

#2 Hulk Hogan vs. #3 Lou Thesz

Hulk Hogan pinned Lou Thesz in 14:27 after a LEG DROP. Hogan was on the defensive for much of the match until countering a release power bomb done by Thesz. Then it was almost all Hogan other than a few minor offensive moves from his opponent. Thesz was able to kick out pins following an atomic drop, a big boot to the face, and a series of punches. Hogan then finished Thesz off with his LEG DROP finisher. Prior to that Thesz appeared to have Hogan on the ropes locking Hogan into a rolling short arm scissors with the first move that required Hogan to struggle to reach the ropes. Thesz then quickly hit two GRECO-ROMAN BACKDROPS that Hogan somehow powered out of. Throughout the match Hogan and Thesz each took seven fatigue tokens. At the end of the match an exhausted Hogan shook Thesz’s hand. Hogan awaits the winner of the Ric Flair vs. Bob Backlund match in tonight’s main event.

#1 Ric Flair vs. #12 Bob Backlund

Ric Flair’s match with Bob Backlund ended in controversial fashion when Flair executed PIN USING ROPES at 7:52 and Backlund was unable to kick out. Despite Backlund’s protests the referee missed the call, and Flair quickly left the ring with his manager J.J. Dillion to prepare for the night’s tournament final. Flair took one fatigue token in the match. He moves on to tonight’s main event against The Immortal Hulk Hogan to determine the first ever LNWA World Heavyweight Champion!

LNWA Heavyweight Title Tournament Finals

*Camera cuts to a crowd shot and quickly shifts to Bobby The Brain Heenan and Gorilla Monsoon*

Gorilla Monsoon: Well, Brain, we’ve finally ended the night where many believed we would. In one corner we have The Immortal Hulk Hogan, and in the other, by nefarious means, we have The Nature Boy Ric Flair.

Ric Flair: Am I proud of myself? Gordon, let me ask you, who's wrestling in the tournament final tonight?

Gordon Solie: Well you are along with Hulk Hogan, but the manner in whi--

Ric Flair: Then that is ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW. The Nature Boy, and The Horsemen do not care about anything but results! And, tonight, the fans get what they have been looking forward to. A match between myself, and Hulk Hogan. HOGAN! I want you to look into my eyes. I want you to stare into my eyes and ask yourself - does this look like a man who is scared? Worried? FEARFUL!? DOES IT!?

*Flair pauses for effect*

Ric Flair: I’M NOT SCARED! Tonight, when I walk that aisle, HOGAN, you are going to realize that to be THE MAN, you’ve got to BEAT THE MAN, and Hogan, you ain’t got it in you! WOOOOOO! And, when the winner is announced, and that Ten Pounds of Gold is wrapped around someone’s waist, IT’S GONNA BE MINE!

Gordon Solie: A very confident Ric Flair appears ready for tonight’s main event, and a chance to become the first Legends National Wrestling Alliance Heavyweight Champion of the World. Let’s throw it to my colleague “Mean” Gene Okerlund who is with the other challenger in this match, The Immortal Hulk Hogan!

“Mean” Gene: Thank you Gordon! Confident thoughts from Ric Flair. Hulk Hogan how do you respond?

Hulk Hogan: Well let me tell you something, brother! Ric Flair is the dirtiest player in the game; you saw it tonight when he pinned Bob Backlund with his feet on the ropes! But, Bob Backlund was out there by himself. I’m not going to be out there by myself, “Mean” Gene. I’m going to have tens of thousands of my Hulkamaniacs in the crowd tonight and millions watching tonight from home. Those Hulkamaniacs have been following the demandments; saying their prayers, taking their vitamins, and believing in themselves. And when the largest arms in the world finally get ahold of Ric Flair, and I kick him in his nasty smug face, and drop my giant leg on him and the ref counts 1-2-3, Flair’s gonna know the answer of WHATCHYA GONNA DO, BROTHER, WHEN HULK HOGAN RUNS WILD ON YOU!!!!

Gordon Solie: I’m here tonight with LNWA Commissioner Teddy Long who has an incredible announcement about our next card live from Madison Square Garden! Take it away Commissioner Long.

Teddy Long: Thank you, Gordon. Tonight, what a fantastic series of matches we have seen! And, we are close to determining who is going to get this - *Camera zooms in on to the LNWA World Heavyweight Title* and gets to be known as the first Legends National Wrestling Alliance Heavyweight Champion of the World. However, that’s not what I am here to talk about. No, I’m here tonight to talk about our next card at Madison Square Garden four days from now where we will be holding a 14-team tag team tournament to crown our first ever LNWA WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS!

Gordon Solie: Stunning news, Commissioner Long, can you share any more information for us?

Teddy Long: No I cannot at this time, as we are still negotiating with some of the talent we need to fill out this tournament and some of the particulars, but I want to let fans know they need to tune in to our next LEGENDS NATIONAL WRESTLING ALLIANCE TUESDAY NIGHT NEWS show for all of the details. Tickets go on sale tomorrow for this fantastic event that is going to feature some of the greatest tag teams in the history of this sport.

Gordon Solie: It’s very appropriate that we are going to have a night of tag team wrestling in Madison Square Garden, the home base of the former World Wide Wrestling Federation/World Wrestling Federation/World Wrestling Entertainment. It will harken back to days of yesteryear.

Teddy Long: I’m not sure about that, but the LNWA Board of Directors mentioned the rich history of tag team wrestling in New York City, and that on this Thursday we are going to add to it by crowning the LNWA’s first World Tag Team Champions!

Gordon Solie: One final unrelated question, Commissioner Long, will anything be done about Ric Flair’s actions during the LNWA World Heavyweight Title tournament semifinal match?

#1 Ric Flair w/ J. J. Dillon vs. #2 Hulk Hogan - referee is Morgan Dollar

In what could be termed a ***** classic of a match, Ric Flair defeated Hulk Hogan by pinfall following a suplex assortment at 18:47. The match was back and forth, and Morgan Dollar allowed a lot of latitude to both men throughout the match. The beginning of the match was controlled by Hulk Hogan, who hit a LEG DROP finisher in the first six moves of the match, but Flair was able to kick out. The match turned for Flair after he exited the ring following a big boot to the face and pulled Hogan out of the ring, whipping him knee first into the steel ringside steps. After that, Flair spent considerable time focused on Hogan’s knee. Flair applied the FIGURE FOUR LEGLOCK on Hogan twice in the match, but each time Hogan escaped the hold, once by getting to the ropes the other by turning the move over. The end came for Hogan after Flair delivered thunderous chops followed by a suplex assortment that led to the pinfall. Flair took five fatigue tokens and Hogan took seven fatigue tokens just in the match. The Nature Boy Ric Flair becomes the first Legends National Wrestling Alliance World Heavyweight Champion in our organization’s history!

Gordon Solie: Good evening from the Sunshine State, Legends National Wrestling Association fans, I’m Gordon Solie bringing you the LNWA TUESDAY NIGHT NEWS, the best wrestling from the best wrestlers from around the world in the history of our great sport. We’ve got some big news to discuss for tonight’s show. First, we have a LNWA World Heavyweight Champion. As millions of you watched, this past Sunday on your local TV affiliates, The Nature Boy Ric Flair pinned The Immortal Hulk Hogan to be crowned the first Legends National Wrestling Alliance World Heavyweight Champion! We were live from the Greensboro Coliseum, and Flair won three matches, going over Nick Bockwinkel, Bob Backlund, and finally Hulk Hogan for the LNWA World Heavyweight Title. However, the match was not without controversy, as Flair used the ropes to aid his pinfall over Backlund in the semifinal round. It mattered not, as the referee missed Flair's feet on the ropes and awarded the win to Flair.

Gordon Solie: And, that was not the only news from Sunday. Commissioner Teddy Long announced to our viewers that this THURSDAY, live from Madison Square Garden in New York City, the LNWA will host a tournament to crown its first ever World Heavyweight Tag Team Champions! Commissioner Long is in the studio and he's going to share with all of the Legends National Wrestling Alliance fans about this incredible tag team tournament.

*MacMilitant begins to play as soon as Solie stops speaking, and Commissioner Teddy Long comes into view, dancing, strutting, and appearing to be completely in his element. As he reaches Solie, Long extends his hand out to Solie, shakes Solie's hand, and smiles before speaking.*

Teddy Long: Thanks for the wonderful introduction, Gordon! It is always great to be in the Sunshine State! As you mentioned I'm here to speak out this Thursday's LNWA super-card at The Garden, Madison Square Garden, in New York City. But, before that, Gordon, I want to address the elephant in the room: Ric Flair's LNWA World Heavyweight Title Tournament semifinal win, when he had his feet on the ropes to pin Bob Backlund. At June's pay per view, called LNWA #1 Contenders, taking place in the D.C. Armory, we will be holding four-wrestler mini tournaments to determine the #1 Contender for each of the six LNWA Titles, and Bob Backlund will be one of the four competitors in the Men's World Heavyweight #1 Contender's tournament that night!

Gordon Solie: Wow, this is incredible news! I don't know what is more incredible - the information about trying to right the wrong that happened to Bob Backlund or the the fact that there are four yet to be announced titles that we know nothing about!

Teddy Long: Gordon, you and all of the fans will find about about these titles in due time, and in fact, I'll be announcing the participants in our third and fourth, fifth, and sixth title tournaments in the coming weeks! Patience is a virtue as they say!

Gordon Solie: Well I am sure fans will be waiting breathlessly. Can you tell us who will be competing along with Backlund in the tournament to determine the new #1 Contender to the Men's World Heavyweight Title Tournament?

Teddy Long: Gordon, in each of the number one contender tournaments the tournament runner up; the one of the semi-finalists in the tournament, one current wrestler, and one newcomer to the LNWA, who fans have yet to see! It's truly an exciting time to be an LNWA fan! Oh, and the one current wrestler will be determined by a 20-man over the top Battle Royal being held this Thursday at the LNWA's Garden Show!

Gordon Solie: Indeed it is. So, the main reason you are here is to discuss this Thursday's fantastic Garden show. I see we have our curtain on the opposite wall, which I can only assume contains behind it the 14 team tag team bracket, correct?

Teddy Long: Gordon that is correct, and for the fans at home, before I reveal the tournament participants and seedings, I want to let you know that the LNWA Board of Directors utilized a similar process as they did for the World Heavyweight Title Tournament. Participants had to be former world champions from the AWA, NWA/WCW, or the WWWF/WWF/WWE. Each of the "big three" received at least four tag teams in the tournament, with the NWA/WCW and WWWF/WWF/WWE receiving one additional team each as the top seeds who received first round byes.

Gordon Solie: Makes perfect sense, Commissioner Long, so why don't you unveil this tournament to our fans!

Teddy Long: It would be my pleasure!

Gordon Solie: So, Commissioner Long, no big surprises here, maybe other than the seedings for teams three through fourteen, but our overall #1 Seed is the Road Warriors, a team that held all three of the big three world tag team titles; and our #2 Seed is Demolition the owners of the second longest WWWF/WWF/WWE World Tag Team Title reign in history. I don't think fans can disagree too much with any of the 14 participants.

Teddy Long: No, Gordon, I really don't think fans or the teams involved can complain too much about this tournament. We had one unsigned team that I think fans may be disappointed were not signed in time for the tournament, but we definitely found a capable replacement. And, Gordon, two nights from now, fans had better tune in, or they'll have to wait until next Tuesday to find out who their LNWA World Tag Team Champions are!

*The show begins with a shot of a full-to-the-rafters Madison Square Garden. We hear a voice over from our announcers Gorilla Monsoon and Bobby The Brain Heenan who are discussing the night’s card, quickly going over the first round matches, as well as what is at stake, namely the opportunity to be the first ever Legends National Wrestling Association World Tag Team Champions! They then throw it to the first round action.*

1st Round of LNWA World Tag Team Title Tournament Matches

#8 Ole and Arn Anderson vs. #9 The Miracle Violence Connection



Ole and Arn Anderson defeated The Miracle Violence Connection by pinfall at the 9:14 mark after Arn hit a DDT on Terry Gordy, and Dr. Death was unable to make the pin save. The Andersons used a lot of quick tags to attack both Steve Williams and Terry Gordy and dominated the match, staying on offense for a majority of the match. After the match, in a shocking turn of events, Gordy, who was helped to his feet by Williams, shoved Williams and then hit a POWER BOMB followed by a BAMM BAMM SLAM on Williams. As he put the boots to Dr. Death, out of the crowd, raced Michael P.S. Hayes and Buddy Jack Roberts, making their first appearance in the LNWA. Hayes grabbed a chair, and waffled a groggy Williams across the face with it. The reunited Fabulous Freebirds then began to put the boots to Williams before being chased off by Stan Hansen and Bruiser Brody. Williams was stretchered out of the arena and was reportedly injured for eight cards. The Andersons move onto the quarterfinals where they will face the Road Warriors. Ole Anderson took one fatigue token and Williams and Gordy took four and five respectively. Fans across the country will have to wait to find out what, if any action, will be taken against The Fabulous Freebirds for their attack on Dr. Death Steve Williams.



#7 The Rock N’ Roll Express vs. #10 The Crusher and Dick The Bruiser



The Rock N’ Roll Express made short work of The Crusher and Dick The Bruiser, winning by pinfall in 5:11, following a DOUBLE DROP KICK executed on The Crusher. The Rock N’ Roll Express dominated the match, keeping Dick The Bruiser from officially ever entering the match. A pinfall by Ricky Morton on The Crusher, following a DOUBLE DROPKICK was broken up by Dick The Bruiser. Unfortunately for the team of The Crusher and Dick The Bruiser, Dick The Bruiser was unable to make the save following a second DOUBLE DROPKICK. The Crusher took seven fatigue tokens in the match. The Rock N’ Roll Express moves onto the quarterfinals and a date with Demolition.



#4 The Hart Foundation w/Jimmy Hart vs. #13 The High Flyers



In a shocking upset, The High Flyers defeated The Hart Foundation after Greg Gagne made Bret Hart go to sleep with the GAGNE SLEEPER at 7:03. The match was dominated by The High Flyers with The Hart Foundation getting no offense in. Hart was on the receiving end of two GAGNE SLEEPERS, and a HIGH FLYING DROP KICK from Jim Burnzell. Jim Niedhart tried to save Hart from pinfall on two occasions but was cut off by Gagne and Brunzell respectively. Jimmy Hart also tried to help his charges by distracting the referee, dropping his megaphone, which Gagne retrieved and hit Hart in the head with, before executing a cross body block followed by a second GAGNE SLEEPER. Hart took seven fatigue tokens in the match. The High Flyers move on to face the winner of The Vachons vs. Dream Team match with a spot in the semi finals on the line.



#3 The MIdnight Express w/Jim Cornette vs. #14 The Wild Samoans w/Captain Lou Albano



The Midnight Express survived an all out brawl with The Wild Samoans after Bobby Eaton pinned Wild Samoan Sika at 13:12 with a slingshot backbreaker. The match was a bloody affair that saw both Dennis Condrey and Sika busted open. It was a back and forth match that saw the Midnight Express hit their MIDNIGHT MASSACRE finisher four times - three times on Sika and once on Afa, and saw The Wild Samoans hit their SAMOAN DROP finisher twice once on Eaton and once on Condrey. Both managers also got involved distracting the official during attempted pinfalls by their respective teams. However, the damage done to Sika proved to be too much as he was unable to kick out of a pinning attempt following a slingshot backbreaker by Eaton. Condrey took six fatigue tokens and Eaton took four, while Sika and Afa took ten and five fatigue tokens respectively. The Midnight Express move onto the quarter finals where they face the winner of The British Bulldogs vs. The Midnight Rockers match.



#5 The Vachons vs. #12 The Dream Team w/Johnny Valiant



The Vachons defeated The Dream Team in 9:51 after Mad Dog Vachon pinned Brutus Beefcake following a double foot stomp. The early portions of the match were controlled by Beefcake who got two pinfall attempts on Butcher Vachon, but took an unnecessary risk by going to the top rope, which led to Butcher recovering and throwing Beefcake from the top rope to the ring, and tagging in his brother Mad Dog. Both teams attempted pinfall saves at various points but were cut off from their opponents and Johnny Valiant attempted to distract the referee during a pinfall attempt but failed to do so. Butcher Vachon took four fatigue tokens and Beefcake took five fatigue tokens. After the match it seemed as though Greg Valentine and Johnny Valiant were both upset with Beefcake with Valentine leaving the ring while Beefcake was talking to him, and Valiant berating Beefcake as the team walked up the aisle back to the dressing room. The Vachons move on to the quarter finals where they will face The High Flyers with a spot in the semifinals on the line.



#6 The British Bulldogs vs. #11 The Midnight Rockers



In the best first round match of the night, The British Bulldogs defeated The Midnight Rockers by pinfall at 15:32 when Dynamite Kid pinned Shawn Michaels following a DIVING HEADBUTT. The action and tags were quick by both teams with multiple high flying and double team maneuvers. The Midnight Rockers actually hit a DOUBLE DDT finisher but Davey Boy Smith was able to kick out of the attempt before recovering and going back on the offensive and then tagging in Dynamite Kid who utilized a crisp offense of various high impact suplexes before hitting Michaels with his DIVING HEADBUTT. Marty Jannetty tried to save Michaels but was stopped by Davey Boy Smith and the 1-2-3 was counted. Davey Boy Smith took three fatigue tokens and Shawn Michaels took five fatigue tokens. The British Bulldogs move onto the quarter finals where they will square off against The Midnight Express for a chance at the semifinals.
