SW brings home the gold, making Papa proud... Brilliant closing to an epic first year! Thanks my friend, that was a fun card to end the year. I would have been fine with either guy winning but Star Warrior brought it at the end. I'm getting 2088 prepared so hopefully I will be able to get that up and running soon.

(2088) Invasion:
After a tumultuous start to 2087, with Thantos stripped of the GWF Heavyweight title by the Galaxian Commission in light of him betraying the Galaxian Code, things settled down with both that championship and the GWF Tag team championship decided in subsequent tournaments. The rivalries embroiled within the GWF also took center stage with the Federation Defense Fighter versus the Galaxian Villains, the Flying Titans versus Society of Death and even Duke of Destruction versus The Evil Ones drawing attention.
The Galaxian Commission, on the heels of a memorable Colossal Conflicts 1 event where Star Warrior won the GWF Heavyweight title, has announced an impressive twenty-five event schedule which will conclude with Colossal Conflicts 2 taking place at the 125,000-seat Io Coliseum on Jupiter. The GWF is also planning to branch out from the Intergalactic Arena in Deimos for big events, including such locations as the Asteroid Belt, Antila, Andromeda and two appearances on Earth, featuring a return to the Niagara Tower of Lights in New York.
Entering 2088, the GWF announced that the contracts of Duke of Destruction and Red Talon, who came together as something of a cult favorite tag team, were not renewed by the company. Both men have since announced their retirements from the ring, returning to Altair and Andromeda 13, respectively. The GWF wishes both well but now must turn to new talent arriving that will be featured on the opening card of Deimos 26 at the Intergalactic Arena.
The most mysterious of the new arrivals is Mesmer of Dimension X, who actually appeared at a GWF event in 2087 as he met up with Omega at ringside following his match at Sagittarius 22. Omega was tight lipped on who he met that night but it was learned that the man was Mesmer and he has joined the Federation Defense Fighters. Thantos, not to be outdone, has ordered Killer Queen of the newly renamed Royal Court to go after the cloaked newcomer.
Speaking of the Royal Court, the rebranded name of The Evil Ones led by Exo-King, who, along with Killer Queen and Death Knight, made life miserable for their opposition in 2087 and look to do the same in 2088. In that regard, the Royal Court has recruited the most feared new talent in the galaxy named Bishop Hell, master of Hellfire. Listed as being from Parts Unknown, Bishop Hell has already made it known that he is after the GWF Heavyweight title and that puts Star Warrior of the FDF in his crosshairs.
The arrivals of Mesmer and Bishop Hell, and a host of others including additions to the Gladiators of Aethra, the Flying Titans and Society of Death, bring about an invasion of the GWF in 2088. As they say let the battle beginโฆ
Galaxian Wrestling Federation - 2088 - Deimos 26 - Intergalactic Arena
1) Mutant (Parts Unknown) defeated Pulsar (Titan, Saturn)
* The first match of the year saw the popular Pulsar of the Flying Titans faced his rival Mutant of the Society of Death. The last time we saw Pulsar he was being stretchered out at Colossal Conflicts 1, courtesy of a gang attack by Mutant, Ghengis Khan and Invincible Krakan. He suffered a concussion injury but he was cleared to return to the ring for 2088, a fact that did not please Krakan and his minions. The Galaxian Commission fined Society of Death heavily for their actions and were going to impose a suspension but Lord Nexus, representing the Titans, requested that not happen as instead things would be settled in the ring.
The heat was off the charts as Pulsar went after Mutant vigorously. Moves like the reverse piledriver(ch) and the Titan Drop had significant effect but Mutant refused to go down. A late rally by Mutant led to him hitting the face slam (ch) and locking on the Temple Grinder for a submission win. It was a smart move by Mutant as his finisher targeted the head area of Pulsar coming off of his concussion injury. Mutant kept the hold on post-match until Pit Viper ran in. The heat grew even greater as Splatter, the newest member of Society of Death, showed up teasing their upcoming match.
2) Vanity, The Creeper, Man-Mountain & Lightning defeated Actagon, Proteus, Beast-Rider & Renegade
* Eight-man tag team action saw the Greek Gods, Actagon & Proteus, and the Neptunian Space-Croppers, Beast-Rider & Renegade, face two new tag teams in Beauty & The Beast, Vanity & The Creeper, and the Norse Gods, Man-Mountain & Lightning. Vanity surprised everyone with his new partner, The Creeper, a beast that he stole from the cosmic zoo maintained by Beast-Rider on Neptune.
That only added to the tension of this match, a match which saw both teams pick up near falls. The finishing sequence saw the Norse Gods come out on top as Man-Mountain crushed Beast-Rider allowing Lightning to trap him in the Norse Sleeper Grip for the submission. It was not a good night for Beast-Rider to say the least, nor for the Greek Gods who got their first up close look at a new rival team in the Norse Gods.
3) Splatter (Parts Unknown) defeated Pit Viper (Titan, Saturn)
* An already tense showdown exploded as Pit Viper hit the ring to take on Splatter, a dangerous masked man recruited into Society of Death. His purpose: to eliminate Pit Viper! This was a wild bout with both men having strong showings. The turning point came when Pit Viper missed a deathjump leading to a piledriver by Splatter for a near fall. Splatter then picked up his first GWF victory with Hatchet Job, a neck-first whip into the top rope, for the pin.
4) The Henchmen defeated Bomb Squad by DQ
* The newly formed tag team of the Bomb Squad, Commander Sam & Adam Blast, faced The Henchmen, former GWF Heavyweight champion Comrade Terror & Executioner. Sam recruited Blast, a young military trainee out of West Virginia, USA, Earth, who is considered a tag team specialist. Thantos, meanwhile, christened the duo of Terror and Executioner with The Henchmen name expecting them to diffuse the Bomb Squad. This was a wild brawl, especially when Sam and his longtime rival Terror went at it. The end result was the Bomb Squad being disqualified as Sam roughed up Terror on the outside. The Henchmen won it but obviously nothing was settled in this burgeoning rivalry.
5) Gladiators of Aethra defeated AniMen of Andromeda
* Six-man tag team action featured a trio of newcomers from Andromeda 13, the AniMen of Andromeda team of Incredible Badger, Battering Ram, & Reptillo. They were recruited into the GWF by Wolf who, though still a loner, sensed the need to bring some allies in the AniMen. Their opponents were reigning GWF Tag Team Champions the Gladiators of Aethra, Brute & Massacre, and their ally Spike, a destructive new force from Aethra. To say that this was a war would be an understatement. Both teams brought it in and out of the ring, trading some big near falls along the way. The finish saw Spike debut his devastating finisher in the Super Destroyer, a top rope powerslam, which he hit on Incredible Badger for the pin.
6) Titan Power defeated Invincible Krakan & Ghengis Khan
* The new team of Titan Power, Lord Nexus & Billy Jo Boxer, representing the Flying Titans, faced Invincible Krakan & Ghengis Khan of the Society of Death. The universal crowd very well received Titan Power, with Boxer in particular getting great support as he showed off his skills in the sweet science. They managed to neutralize SOD leader Krakan for a good stretch leading to a great finish as Nexus caught his nemesis with the Titan Drop for the pin. It was a great debut victory for Titan Power who could have a significant impact in the GWF tag team division.
7) Thantos (Maffei II) defeated Wolf (Andromeda 13)
* Though both Wolf and Thantos had strong years in 2087, finishing number one and number four in the final rankings respectively, there was also great frustration felt by both men. Wolf lost out to Star Warrior in a best-of-three-series for a shot at the GWF Heavyweight title at Colossal Conflicts 1. Thantos, meanwhile, had that title taken from him by the Galaxian Commission and then stood by as his ally Comrade Terror held the belt. In a final blow to close out the year, GWF founder Omega pinned him in a feature tag team match at Colossal Conflicts 1.
Both men went into this semi-final match looking to make a statement. It was a vicious battle that saw Wolf impressively fight out of the Masterlock at one point. He dominated Thantos for a good stretch but was unable to put him away, with Thantos deftly avoiding the feared Savage Face Claw. In the end it was Thantos who would find his way to victory as he countered a backdrop with a piledriver before applying the Masterlock. Wolf was unresponsive from taking the piledriver, and the referee called it awarding a big submission victory to Thantos, leader of the Galaxian Villains.
8) Exo-King, Bishop Hell, Killer Queen & Death Knight defeated Star Warrior, Omega, Mesmer & Massif
* The main event was an eight-man tag team match as the Federation Defense Fighters of GWF Heavyweight champion Star Warrior, Omega, Mesmer & Massif faced the Royal Court of Exo-King, Bishop Hell, Killer Queen & Death Knight. It all came down to one devastating new finisher, Hellfire courtesy of Bishop Hell. The match itself was a tumultuous battle between both teams with the crowd going crazy the first time Star Warrior and Bishop Hell locked up. Star Warrior got the better of him and hit Nova Launch but it only got a two count. As the match progressed, each team picked up a big near fall and great rivalries came to the forefront, especially between Omega and Death Knight. The Royal Court would prevail, however, when Bishop Hell used the aforementioned Hellfire on Omega for the pin.
It was a controversial victory for the Royal Court and one that gave Star Warrior and his father, Omega, an up close look at the effectiveness of the controversial Hellfire. Bishop Hell took immense pleasure in burning Star Warriorโs father, Omega, especially as it sent a message to the GWF Heavyweight champion of what could be in his future. Fortunately, the fire attack of Bishop Hell didnโt injure Omega but he did require medical attention.

The Invasion is rocking on all cylinders, brotha! Lots of explosive debuts, but probably none more attention grabbing than Bishop Hell... Can't wait to see what 2088 has in store!

Hey cruefan68! Absolutely loving you're take on the GWF. Congrats on a successful first year and the apex of the year occurred during those last few cards. The Star Warrior / Wolf competition and relationship stole the show. And I have to say it - let's hear it for my man Omega The Old! The old boy hung in there pretty well considering, looks like he's gonna go down swinging. Can't wait to see how you incorporate the 2088 guys into this. Tremendous job brother! Another Monolithic fed in the making! (Sorry - just couldn't help that one)

Thanks for the comments Pariah and Bri. I'm enjoying the move into 2088 and I hope to have the next show posted soon. Bishop Hell has definitely already made a statement, not surprisingly as he has been a major force in most GWF feds. I'm looking forward to seeing how his year turns out. I'm also pumped for other newcomers like Spike and the Norse Gods in seeing how they can make an impact in 2088. The veteran Omega has been a pleasant surprise. His overall record is fairly poor, but he is always hanging in there and comes up with some nice wins. He can never be counted out.

Galaxian Wrestling Federation - 2088 - Deimos 27 - Intergalactic Arena
1) Bomb Squad vs. The Henchmen was a DDQ
* The opening contest was a rematch from Deimos 26 as the Bomb Squad, Commander Sam & Adam Blast, took on The Henchmen, Comrade Terror & Executioner. This was every bit of a war as their first match with both teams going all out to achieve victory. A heated conclusion saw Terror hit Atomic Warhead on Sam, but Blast made the save. That set off a four-way brawl which resulted in a snake eyes double disqualification decision. The brawl continued post-match until the Bomb Squad were able to clear the ring.
2) Neptunian Space-Croppers defeated Beauty & The Beast
* The heat between the Neptunian Space-Croppers, Beast-Rider & Renegade, and Vanity has not subsided coming into 2088. That is especially true due to Vanity stealing The Creeper from the galactic zoo maintained by Beast-Rider on Neptune. Vanity and The Creeper, going by the name of Beauty & The Beast, brought the fight in this match but came up short. Renegade, who defeated Vanity in a Titan Death Match at Colossal Conflicts 1, got one over on him again forcing him to submit to the brutal Spinecracker.
3) Spike (Aethra) defeated Reptillo (Andromeda 13)
* The Gladiators of Aethra have recruited a dangerous newcomer in Spike, and he showed just why that is as he took on Reptillo, representing the AniMen of Andromeda. Spike was dominant in this match as he punished Reptillo with no remorse. Spike won it convincingly when he hit the dangerous Super Destroyer for the pin.
4) Flying Titans defeated Society of Death
* The war between the Flying Titans of Lord Nexus, Pit Viper, Pulsar and newcomer Billy Jo Boxer, and the Society of Death of Invincible Krakan, Mutant, Ghengis Khan and newcomer Splatter continues to rage. This explosive eight-man tag team match saw both sides engage in a brutal, back and forth battle. Each team had chances to win but a late momentum turn saw the Titans take it when Boxer delivered the TKO on Khan for the pin. It was a huge win for the Flying Titans and just a preview of what could be an explosive rivalry as the GWF pushes further into 2088.
5) Wolf (Andromeda 13) defeated Death Knight (Altair)
* The enigmatic Wolf faced Death Knight, representing the newly branded Galaxian Royal Court. What he lacks in speed, Death Knight makes up for with a ruthless attack and a robotic suit of armor to add to it. Wolf had a difficult time in this match but was never in danger of defeat. It was more Death Knight showing that he can push opponents hard but, in the end, Wolf prevailed as he scored the pin after a hard-hitting Shoulder Tackle (ch).
6) AniMen of Andromeda defeated Norse Gods
* A highly anticipated tag team match between two new teams saw the AniMen of Andromeda, Incredible Badger & Battering Ram, face the Norse Gods, Man-Mountain & Lightning. The intimidating Man-Mountain is currently the largest competitor in the GWF checking in at 6โ8โ and 568-pounds. Lightning, meanwhile, weighs 215-pounds and is known for his great agility. That unique blend of size and speed should make the Norse Gods difficult foes, but this was not their night, The AniMen cut off the ring and Lightning, nearly pinning him with Andromeda Drop if not for a save by the massive Man-Mountain. In the end, though, it was Badger connecting with Burrow Blast on Lightning for the pin.
7) Thantos (Maffei II) defeated Massif (Ceres)
* A major controversy occurred in this match between two former GWF Heavyweight champions, Massif of the Federation Defense Fighters and Thantos, leader of the Galaxian Villain army. Prior to the match, the Galaxian Commission ruled that the winner would face reigning GWF Heavyweight champion Star Warrior for the title at the Ceres Amphitheatre at Asteroid Belt 28. Massif was overjoyed as a win would not only get him his rematch after losing the title to Star Warrior at Colossal Conflicts 1, but it would be on his home planet of Ceres.
The stakes were high but before the bell even rang, Thantos distracted the referee allowing his Henchmen to jump Massif. The Bomb Squad made the save but Massif was left in a difficult position, having to start the match after taking some strong blows by Comrade Terror and Executioner. He insisted that the match begin but just moments into it Thantos was able to catch Massif by surprise with a Counter Sunset Flip for the pin. Massif was no doubt out of it and Thantos took full advantage securing the title shot for himself.
8) Star Warrior & Mesmer defeated Bishop Hell & Killer Queen by DQ
* The main event saw GWF Heavyweight champion Star Warrior and Mesmer, the mysterious new FDF member hailing from Dimension X, face dangerous newcomer Bishop Hell and Killer Queen of the Galaxian Royal Court. Bishop Hell unleashed his controversial Hellfire on Star Warriorโs father Omega at Deimos 26 so that was on the mind of the champion. Also on his mind was his next challenger, Thantos, who remained at ringside to discuss strategy with Bishop Hell and Killer Queen until the referee ordered him to return to the back.
A chaotic match followed and concluded with Hellfire once again coming into play, this time as it was unleashed on Star Warrior in full view of the referee. That resulted in a disqualification decision, but Bishop Hell and Killer Queen could care less as they assaulted both men afterward. Thantos returned and joined in making it three-on-two until Massif hit the ring to a big pop from the crowd. He helped even the odds and the FDF trio drove Thantos and his men out of the ring. Massif was beside himself and said that since Thantos โstoleโ his title shot he wanted Bishop Hell on Ceres. Bishop Hell had to be held back by Thantos and Killer Queen, but he accepted the challenge making it a big double main event at Asteroid Belt 28.

Very cool that most of the Invasion characters are looking strong out of the gate... We know it's only a matter of time before that AniMen vs. Gladiators feud absolutely explodes... And I really enjoyed seeing Boxer land the TKO to win that big contest for the Titans... Bishop Hell vs. Massif should tear down the house... Star Warrior defending the title against Thantos is nothing short of classic fare. Question re. the following...

Was the prematch ambush the result of some kind of dice roll? Or were you exercising your artistic freedom in order to add some heat to the encounter? I always have a difficult time adding in details that were not dictated by the dice... Something I would like to remedy in the future... Either way, it was a great way to inject some drama into the show. Another exceptional installment of Project 68, my friend... Fun times!

As for your question about the Massif vs. Thantos match I had to get creative. It literally ended in two moves! Into the ropes, counter sunset flip and Massif rolled his pin. I was shocked and figured a heel winning that way would be a little strange, so I went with the pre-match attack to explain why Massif may have been caught off guard. In the end it worked out ok as Massif looked like a hero in the main event, lining up a match with Bishop Hell, while Thantos gets his long-awaited championship opportunity. I was hoping for a great Massif vs. Thantos match but Those dice rolls sure can drive you crazy sometimes

Nice to see some good old 88 action. Thanks TTX, I'm having a blast with this GWF journey starting from 2087. It was exciting to move into 2088, especially with the likes of Bishop Hell and Spike joining the GWF. Fun times ahead for sure.
