Yea if Stevie is as good as we think he is we should see an improvement in next year or two based on what he was able to do in Tampa.

Another record belonging to Gordie Howe has fallen. He had the record for most goals with one franchise but Alex Ovechkin passed him today. Not bad considering he last played for the Wings 51 years ago.
In one of those weird coincidences, I mentioned the Detroit Vipers in another thread today and that was the last team Gordie Howe played a shift with. Granted it was a publicity stunt but still.

So, it looks like Alex has been replaced as the main backup goalie. By Magnus Hellberg. How cool is that name. Magnus. Hellberg. It would make a great name for a wrestler. Magnus. Hellberg.

Larkin is staying a Wing. Signed 8-year extension. We are only a couple years away from being a contender again.

I'm sure that was a nervous time for you wondering whether or not he was going to re-sign. I only wish that my Canucks had been able to reach a similar agreement with Bo Horvat.ðŸ˜

Boston Bruins were trying to break the record of fastest to 50 wins in a season. A record that was set by the 1995-96 Red Wings. The Wings had the chance of stopping them by playing them twice this weekend. Sadly, it did not happen. Congrats to the Bruins.

Quick question from a Canucks fan about the recent trade our teams made: How good is Filip Hronek? I didn't know much about him so I read up on him a bit and he seems pretty good but I'd like to hear from a fan who's watched him play.
We gave up a lot to get him: Our 2nd round pick in this year's draft plus the 1st rounder we got from the Islanders in the Bo Horvat trade. While I agree with the general consensus that we overpaid for him that was probably the only way the Canucks were going to improve their deplorable blueline. He instantly becomes our second best defenceman which granted isn't saying much. Other than him we've got Quinn Hughes, Ethan Bear and that's about it.
Previous GM Jim Benning would be wise not to show his face in this city again as he likely wouldn't make it out in one piece. Because of him we've been saddled with Tyler Myers & Oliver Ekman-Larsson and their under-performing butts. Combined the Canucks are paying them 13 Million Dollars(!) and we're getting maybe 3 Million in production out of them.
My apologies for my rant just then. I would love to hear your thoughts on Hronek plus how you feel about the trade overall.

It felt like a push trade to me based on what I do know. I was happy to get the picks but felt we gave up a good player. Like a step back from contending and more toward rebuild. Like we are another couple years from being a contender. Hopefully he works out for you guys.

The NY Rangers fired Gerard Gallant after two seasons. Yes, they lost in 7 to NJ in first round but he led them to a 99-46-19 record over the two seasons and got them to the Eastern Conference Finals last year against Tampa Bay who were two-time reigning Stanley Cup champions. I sure hope Stevie Y reached out to him and offers him a coaching position in the organization.
Oh, and FUNY. I hope the Rangers nosedive and suck for many years.
