The NY Rangers fired Gerard Gallant after two seasons. Yes, they lost in 7 to NJ in first round but he led them to a 99-46-19 record over the two seasons and got them to the Eastern Conference Finals last year against Tampa Bay who were two-time reigning Stanley Cup champions. I sure hope Stevie Y reached out to him and offers him a coaching position in the organization. Oh, and FUNY. I hope the Rangers nosedive and suck for many years. I thought the firing was ridiculous as well. Too much of a "what have you done for me recently" mentality going on there. That would be great if the Red Wings picked him up but I wouldn't be sad to see my Canucks sign him either. Best of luck to the Wings in the draft lottery on Monday. The Canucks never have any luck there so I'm not getting my hopes up. There's two teams I hope don't win it. The Blackhawks because of their blatant tanking the past 12 months and the Coyotes because it would suck to see Connor Bedard wasting away on a lame duck team. |

Good luck to you guys in the draft lottery as well but even better luck with the draft. Getting a top pick and thus a top guy is the easy part. Best teams work their magic further down the draft. I mean the Wings back in 89 picked up a guy in the 4th round by the name of Sergei Fedorov and he turned out pretty good for them. |

Doesn't sound like Gallant and Drury got along. Guessing Kane wasn't his type of player. He's a "player's coach", but doesn't seem to have much of a shelf life.

Yea I wonder how much of it is him and how much is people not able to work with him. He has been pretty good everywhere he has been.

Game 1 of ECF this year went into the 4th OT but as long as the game was it was not in top five of Stanly Cup playoffs. ESPN did a story of those top five and the Wings were involved, and won, the longest game. It went into the 6th OT period and the extra game time was 116:30, almost two hours. The Wings won 1-0, yep there were no goals before the game winner, and the Wings goalie lost 12 lbs of weight during the game.

Tomorrow is the NHL draft. With two picks in the 1st round and THREE picks in the 2nd round for a total of five picks in the first 43 picks Stevie Y has a great chance to set us up for success over the next decade. He has started building the foundation but this draft could give us another big boost. Sure hope he brings his A game tomorrow and Thursday.

Tomorrow is the NHL draft. With two picks in the 1st round and THREE picks in the 2nd round for a total of five picks in the first 43 picks Stevie Y has a great chance to set us up for success over the next decade. He has started building the foundation but this draft could give us another big boost. Sure hope he brings his A game tomorrow and Thursday. Best of luck to the Wings. This is supposed to be a pretty stacked draft so there's opportunity for a lot of teams to improve. I wouldn't be surprised if your Red Wings and my Canucks made a deal swapping picks #11 and #17. There's rumors floating around that since Vancouver doesn't have a second round pick they could try to get one by trading down in the first round. Since Detroit has three picks in Round Two I could see them being a prime candidate for that deal. We'll see what happens. |

Man ESPN sucks. They carried the NFL, NBA and now the NHL draft. For the first two, they had a ticker of draft order and updated with picks shortly after they happened. For the NFL draft no ticker. I understand NHL is not as big as the other two, but they are carrying the draft so why not put some people on it and have the ticker. If the draft was on another network, I would understand not doing it.

Damn, I was hoping Matvei Michkov would have fallen to us at 9. With our history with Russian players, he would seem a natural fit for us and I think our people could have worked something out to get him to our system in a couple years.
