I have the con cards as well, but wouldn’t you be frustrated if you just started playing today and found out you couldn’t get all of the cards because you missed a convention? That’s how it was with me and Boomer Hatfield. Took me something like eighteen months to acquire his card, and once I did, I felt like I had accomplished something. Ditto for Andrew Palace and the one Video Cameraman card, whose name I regrettably forget at the moment. Was it frustrating? A little. But it didn’t really bother me because I knew eventually I would acquire one. It just might take some time and energy. I mean, if you want to make the argument that every card should be available to every person, you have to make color Roddy Piper available online, right? I only use online cards, so sure—I can get him by buying the set. Again. In physical form, this time. But even then, it won’t help me use him online unless I purchase some Create-a-Character cards. And even then, I won’t have his artwork, which is honestly a big issue for me and why I don’t have any Create-a-Character cards to begin with. Is that frustrating? Maybe a little, but that’s the way the works works. Maybe every person doesn’t need to have everything just because. If not having a Frogman LeBlanc card ruins one’s enjoyment of the game, maybe the problem isn’t really the scarcity of the Frogman card. Piper is a totally different circumstance So you’re saying people have underlying issues if they can’t get a Leblanc card? Gotcha.

I was frustrated back in the day because I couldn't get the 200 plus issues of the comic I was reading. If there was a top guy you couldn't get any other way, then yes, but for the job guys, I'm not feeling the same. You really think not being able to get 200 comics is the same thing? Seriously?

I love the collectible aspect of the game and hope it continues. As a collector, I do not see a problem with selling/auctioning off con exclusive cards at other cons but would feel a little bummed if they were just eventually listed in the store (unless autographed like the Iron Mike McCord card). Just my opinion. Everyone is entitled to their own.

Count me as one who is not a fan of viewing this game in the same light as things that are designed to be chase collectibles. All of the stupid games surrounding collectibles is what has turned me off to them. There's no danger of this happening with FG to me but I could see the frustration for a new fan. It's less offensive now since the exclusives don't require a trip across country. Anybody can sign up for the online conventions and get the card/s.

Piper is a totally different circumstance So you’re saying people have underlying issues if they can’t get a Leblanc card? Gotcha. No, that's not what I said, and you know that's not what I said. There are hundreds of official game cards and high-quality bootleg cards out there for people who want to play. I am playing the game without color Piper, which is not a different circumstance. It's an official release that is not available to me. They should either make him available to me at an added cost in the manner I choose to use him, or not release him for anyone, right? Of course they shouldn't. Either way, man. It's all good. It's just a game.

Just gonna throw out the idea of an alternate art exclusive for con attendees and the basic one available for everybody else later. This way everybody has the option to get every card for game play, but the die hard collectors can get the alternate art as their bonus.

If my dear mother were still with us, she would go through all your closets and throw out all your collectible cards. Then you'd all be begging for Nacho to be in the store. 🙃

What about older out of print Legends/COTG editions. Should those be reprinted so new players can get them?

What about older out of print Legends/COTG editions. Should those be reprinted so new players can get them? Can't speak for Filsinger Games, but I imagine that would depend on demand. At any rate, neither card sought by the OP is vintage. Both entered my collection within the past year, one through the kindness of a fellow promoter when I found myself shut out like the OP. I can tell you from personal experience that, when you're in that position, all the collectible arguments sound like "let them eat cake." 🍰

Out of print is what it is. And not the issue here.
I think what bristles people is when current cards are purposely made harder to get.
By nature, when something is made ‘exclusive’ someone is going to be excluded.
Personally, I don’t think this game and community is served well with that kind of scheme. I don’t see any benefit to it for FG or it’s fans in general.
