I don't see any issue with things being exclusive. There's plenty of stuff I've missed, and I can speak from experience that it's not going to run your ability to enjoy the game. If not having Piper's Pit is ruining your ability to have a good time, there's a few bootleg Piper's Pit cards out there, use one of those. If not having access to some obscure job guy is just putting an insurmountable cramp in your style, create your own card for them until you can get an official one.
It's not like any of the exclusive cards are "must have". If they start putting major names behind some con-attendee exclusivity wall, I may change my mind, but they're not going to do that, and I think they do a pretty good job of keeping the exclusive cards as "cool, but unnecessary".

But why? What point does exclusivity serve?
I can't imagine there is any measurable upside financially for FG to release them that way.
If it's to make it fun for collectors, well it can be said (as evidenced in this thread) that it's not so fun for others.
I just don't see the point of them. Especially if it unnecessarily cuts some people out.

I haven't got either cards . I never went or joined . Not really bothered if they are not available . I understand why . But I have got enough cards as it is to play with . Make your own piper pit card or chart or write say 10 scenarios (Heel challenges faces to Chain match or face just talks or create a tag match for main event etc) out on pieces of paper . Fold them up into small pieces then put them into a small tub . When you need one just pick a random one out .
As for Nacho Barrera his in my imaginary federation that I never mention with all non-signed like Hulk Hogan , Bruno , Sting , The Undertaker , Cactus Jack , Chyna , Mick Foley etc . If Nacho or Piper's pit ever does come available again I will get them

the purpose of exclusivity is to get people to attend the thing or buy it if they don't. In the end, it's a business and this is a way to make some extra money.

Obscure job guys are what I’m all about, so I’d be gutted if I came to the game late and couldn’t get a hold of…an exclusive Rudy Diamond card, for example!

For Pipers Pit there also is the BW Card released in Prime way back. For such a Card the Color should be not a problem.

But why? What point does exclusivity serve? Almost every one of the "exclusives" have been given to people who make an effort to attend a community event. It's basically a reward for being an active part of the community. Having an active community isn't really a bad thing, and if one or two exclusive cards a year are given as a reward to people who make the effort, I'd argue that's good for everyone. I can't imagine there is any measurable upside financially for FG to release them that way. I don't think every decision needs to be based on financial gain unless FG is just bleeding money. "You've gotta spend money to make money" and all that. If it's to make it fun for collectors, well it can be said (as evidenced in this thread) that it's not so fun for others. I don't think the goal is to make it "fun for collectors" so much as it is to reward active members of the community who attend live/virtual events. The fact that it creates a collectors market is a secondary concern I'd imagine. I just don't see the point of them. Especially if it unnecessarily cuts some people out. That's fine, you don't have to agree with every decision FG makes. I'm not sure where people get the idea that anyone is cut out from. The "event exclusive" cards are available to anyone who attends the event which is open to anyone who knows about it. If you come in later on, no one is purposefully excluding you, but there was a "time and a place" for certain things, and you missed it. Like I mentioned before, if they started making big names exclusive cards I might be more inclined to agree that it's harmful, but they don't, so I won't. There's also been situations, as explained on the Piper Legend Spotlight where the subject of the card is more comfortable that it's an exclusive give-away (Piper's Pit). On top of that, the collectors market that rarer cards creates has been a pretty big boon for raising money for the Tragos/Thesz Hall of Fame, so that's a definite win.

I am very grateful for the fact virtual attendance rewards with the cards. Being (UK) has made it pretty much impossible to go to things like that in person. So may of missed things in the past. The price of the ticket is totally worth it for just the cards alone and of course I get to watch the panels now which is awesome.
On this note I saw a really cool video camera man type card fleetingly at some point. I think he may of been in the auction but I missed that part. More out of curiosity what was the card and did he ever originate from a particular set / theme? Presume it was indy related

He was an Indy card that was not released in any regular way. I believe it was one of those things they did for the federation specifically and only a few cards are probably in promoter hands.

I get both sides. Tom and Mike give me full reign on COTG Con exclusives and I’ve gone balls to the wall w it giving out OMEGA and CHAOS SUPREME. This is the equivalent of getting Andre and Thesz. So I get it. But the kid in me loves it too because I remember that’s how I got Duke from GI JOE. And some version of Snake Eyes or Storm Shadow. I still recall that rush. Video games do it, card games do it, everybody does it. It’s fun and exciting and keeps things fresh.
With all that said if a new player wants to play Kronos in 2 years and he wasn’t around to get Omega and Chaos, he’s screwed. So I get it. Maybe some day both are included in a Kronos box set designed strictly for new buyers. Or made available annually at other Cons (maybe all past Con cards are available at every new live Con going forward…).
I have faith in the gang to figure it out.
