Cabrera passing Winfield is great. About the only thing good going on for my boys right now. I guess that is worth Cabrera staying around this year. I love the guy but at this point I am thinking of the big opening in our payroll when he is gone next year. His body just does not have it. I sure hope the Tigers offer him a hitting coach job starting next year or later if he wants to take some time off away from baseball first. The man would have won back to back Triple Crowns if not for one player having a career year in HRs and RBIs. On the plus side considering how bad the AL Central is this year every team in that division, other than the Royals, is still within striking distance of first place. |

Miggy tied Alex Rodriquez in the career hits list. 27 more hits to pass Tony Gwynn. He also needs 4 more HRs to move into the Top 25 all time. His bat is starting to heat up. Over the last 7 days (4 games) he is 6 for 16 which is .375 average.

We have been struggling lately. Mostly due to our top pitcher and hitter out with injuries. But we won 3 of 4 from the 1st place Twins. Should have been a sweep but the one game Joey pitches good we have NO offense. Now we are home for a three-game series against the bottom of the division Royals. Our starting pitcher in game one is 0-2 with a 6.08 ERA. On the plus side KC is starting a guy who is 0-11 with a 6.89 ERA.

Should have been a sweep but the one game Joey pitches good we have NO offense. Now we are home for a three-game series against the bottom of the division Royals. Our starting pitcher in game one is 0-2 with a 6.08 ERA. On the plus side KC is starting a guy who is 0-11 with a 6.89 ERA. We are in the purgatory of Detroit sports fandom until Lions season. On that note, wifey got me tickets to the Lions-Giants preseason game! |

It will be my kids' first time at Ford Field so I will probably be openly weeping, LOL. I've been to a few preseason games in the past. Such a fun atmosphere. GO PANTHAZ!!! |

I still need to get to Ford Field to see a game someday. I have not been to any of the new stadiums. As it is, 3 if not all 4 of the old ones I had been to no longer exist.

Three Tiger pitchers combined to throw a no hitter. The first combined no hitter in Tigers history. In other good news Greene is back from IL. He went 2-2 with 2 walks as well. That is 4 at bats and got on base all four times. A nice boost to a struggling offense. In fact, Tigers got on base only 8 times today and Greene had half of them. I am glad we got the no hitter and did not find a way to lose the game lol.

The mock drafts I checked over last couple weeks were pretty sure the Tigers would take a college bat. Someone that might help sooner rather than later. Instead, they went with a HS player who has GREAT potential. He won Indiana player of the year as a sophomore and junior. I think he did as a senior as well because he was Gatorade player of the year. Hit for really good average with some power and speed on the basepaths. Have to wait a couple years till his bat can help our poor offense but this is for the future. A nice pick.
