Almost but not quite as interesting as the guy who lost a game while being retired but close. (Same situation with player having played in the suspended game but having retired before the game was finished)

I was hoping the Tigers could beat Chicago tomorrow and get to .500 but I am not so sure if they will. They are calling up Ty Madden for his MLB debut. This year between AA and AAA he is 3-5 with a 6.98 ERA. Yikes. But it IS Chicago so there is a chance.

if they're having trouble with Chicago it's bad.

A 6.98 ERA in AA and AAA and making his MLB debut. I mean Chicago HAS won a few games this year. We might win but it will have to be a shootout. Ty is 24, we picked him in the 2021 draft, and he is just now making his debut. Only reason is because we basically have just two healthy starters on the current roster. Who knows, being his debut, he might pitch a gem.

I know we're short on SP, but we seem to be having an opener for 3 of the 5 normal SP slots.

There is Maeda but he is this year's Wentz. At least the Tigers realized this and put Maeda into the bullpen with Wentz where they might have some value. The problem is we have 2-3 starting pitchers in the farm system but they are not quite ripe yet. Seeing we are out of the playoff race I would rather keep them down on the farm and let them get valuable experience and improve so they are ready for next season or 2026 as opposed to calling them up in a meaningless season and risk their development. Hopefully Mize will be back in a week or two, so we have 3 starters and then need to get Olson back. I just do not want us to rush Olson. He is young and looks to have a bright future with us. Using the bullpen from the start has been working for us recently so best to stick with that till our guys are healthy enough to return.

random baseball thought from Detroit's division, the White Sox this weekend lost their 100th game of the season and it won't even be September until next weekend

Still doesn't mean I have to like the openers lol.

We're.500, we're.500 woo woo. Lol Ty pitched decent enough and our hitters came thru. Meadows has been on a tear since returning from Toledo. Keith and Jung did their part. Then there was Torkelson coming thru with the big hit like a top pick should. I said we had to go 6-8 over last stretch and we did. Only one small thing to point out that did not go as good as could. Our catcher Dingler did not get a hit today or yesterday. He was our only starter today and yesterday to not get one. It would have been cool to have all 9 get a hit in back to back games.
