I have the NWA game shown above. I played that a ton, I still have it and all the results and records, etc.

Just got done listening. I was always interested in Superstar Pro Wrestling game based on the ads in the magazines, but never went for it because even to my pre-teen mind it looked "cheap and bootleg". I DID however finally get the licensed NWA edition. Still have it and about a dozen cards I did for it (Doom, Scott Steiner, Lex, Pillman, Hayes etc). You can see a few on my Instagram page: http://instagr.am/p/CMNJYGnsB_X Also, if you scroll through you'll see I have way better AWA Remco figures than Chad does (also mentioned on the show). I kid, of course! But how about Doctor D, Ronnie Garvin, and Magnum? Nope, because I made 'em myself. Also the official ones as well, all in nearly new condition with all the robes and jackets and stuff kids tended to lose. ....We will not talk about the investment of time and money.... Dude! Those AWA Figs are sweet! Do you do custom carding for them as well? Nah, I'm not good at carding. Just sculpting and painting. On another topic discussed in this thread, the Von Erich game was indeed just a standard board game with game pieces in the form of cardboard cutouts of WCCW wrestlers. Kind of boring, but it's a fun collectible. Mil Mascaras game I've never seen in person but would like to own eventually.

I don’t remember if it was this game or something similar but I had one someone made me or made me copies of. It had hundreds of wrestlers and they were all on full sized pages but no art. All real guys though so back then that was a big deal. Loved studying it but never had a fed as my heart always belonged to the GWF.

“Decapitator” wow interesting 🥸 I had forgotten that this is what Superstar Pro called the Doomsday Device, Rob! For years, Chad and I referred to the Road Warriors' finisher as the Decapitator, based on this. This was before announcers regularly called it the Doomsday Device. When I first got the Gladiators, I thought Tom took their finisher name from the Road Warriors. I wonder how Superstar Pro came up with it; if they had someone playing COTG who saw the Gladiators in the original set or if it was some weird coincidence.

I remember seeing this game in one of the Wrestling magazines as a kid. Being a huge Strat-o-matic fan I was very interested, but passed on it because it didn't appear to use real Wrestlers.
Always regretted not taking a chance on the game.
That desire to play a Strat-o version of Pro Wrestling lingered in the back of my head for the last 35 years added to the boredom of the pandemic last summer led me to find Filsinger Games.

I listened to this episode yesterday. From the mid to late 1980s, although I always preferred the Filsinger Games system in terms of game play, I played Superstar Pro Wrestling constantly. I remember being really into the NWA when the NWA set was released and creating bootlegs for some wrestlers such as Lex Luger and the Sheepherders who were not part of the set. I think alot of the cards along with other materials for the Superstar Pro Wrestling game can be found at these links (as well as other links at the first website) for Tabletop-Sports: www.tabletop-sports.com/downloads.phpwww.tabletop-sports.com/downloads.php?cat_id=132&download_id=359

I remember thinking at the time that it was a much better experience than Superstar.
