What other specific examples are there of AEW "crying wolf"? I can't really think of too many situations if any where AEW did a meta-SWERVE BS thing like 1996 Brian Pillman.

Just recently all the guys having to rush to social media to debunk their appearances at the Rumble. As if. I think they use WWE a lot to draw attention to themselves. Maybe that’s smart business for them. Jay White now running around talking about showing up on WWE…just seems like the new thing is drama surrounding AEW guys somehow popping up in WWE. Then this. So… 🤷♂️ Seems fishy 🐠

Eh. I don't pay attention to Twitter. There's a difference between spouting off there and actual reporters (regardless of what you think of Dave--it isn't just him) reporting actual news.

Unfortunately Twitter passes for news now. I go to Reddit or any wrestling site and those are the top stories. 🤷♂️ I think Meltzer is brilliant. He creates rumors then debunks his own rumors. He’s as credible as any other journalist these days lol

Been catching up on this story. Maybe there really is some backstage drama between Cody (who never really fit in w the Elite) and the other guys. But I still don’t think Cody leaves AEW. Ratings are in for Dynamite last night, a show featuring Punk, Bryan etc…
I don’t think AEW is in a position to let their biggest stars walk.

I've asked this before on social media alot, so I'll ask it here too! Is Cody Rhodes as big of a superstar as he believes himself to be in his head? 🤔🤷

But he’s the biggest star AEW has which is why AEW is running this huge worked storyline with him. The article about Vince being so excited to sign “an AEW EVP” doesn’t sound like Vince, it sounds like something AEW would say. Anyways, let’s say he really is leaving - he will show up on RAW or SD next week. If not then I really really don’t buy it.

Hahaha" just saying...🤷

Like the guys on the podcast said, he has current obligations to TNT TV. But they are going to let Tony Khan let the guy walk? Just doesn’t add up. Unless of course Cody simply used AEW to reinvent himself and he wants to back home to WWE like Lashley and Drew. I suppose that’s possible.

Yeah, they wouldn't come out and "say" it, but it's odd to try and get around a contract stipulation that Cody agreed to, then later thinking "that was a bad choice". Especially when AEW knows their audience is a bunch of smart marks and internet trolls who can see through the BS. It's weird they'd go through this process because of "free agency", but it is pro wrestling. They do weird stuff all the time for storyline and it gets people talking. That's what they want.
