it's sad if this is the end but I'm also surprised ROH has lasted as long as it has. That being said, this would be a good time for the NWA to sign some guys to short term deals for world title programs. They need something. Their Champions are pitiful (& I like Trevor Murdoch, but come on). Maybe Josh Woods or Tracy Williams? Can’t imagine anyone choosing what has become of the NWA & put themselves in another company that likely has little left in it. Impact has been a revolving door as well. No one seems to stay long. Hopefully MLW can get some help & variety. WWE may scoop a few. AEW will prob take at least half a dozen. GCW can get some good additions in this. But NWA will be lucky to get the stragglers who are waiting by their phones two months after their no-competes end. That’s why FunkASaurus has a belt. While Impact has had some talent come in for a short run before moving on to bigger things, and others they used to keep things fresh, they still have a decent amount that have been there for years.

True. I think some of those guys have been in the business long enough to know who butters their bread & what their ceiling is. Big Fish type thing. I wouldn’t be surprised if a few of the guys hold out & take their chances w whatever becomes of ROH (if it does come back in some form in April). Sinclair may be an awful company, but they seemed to treat ROH wrestlers OK. Maybe to their detriment.

The "woke" wrestling crowd may not like it, but Gabe-era ROH was on the verge of dying (hmmm like another Gabe promotion that disappeared). But for Sinclair and Cornette, ROH would have vanished long ago. Yes, the ROH business and booking decisions the last few years have not been the best, but the same thing can be said about EVERY single promotion on the planet. While I am sad to see ROH go dark, I still hope it returns. Wish the best for all impacted.
P.S. Every promotion is run by various degrees of shady people. Including GCW, AEW, and so on.

It sounds like part of ROH's new plan will be to move away from having contracted talent. I suspected this might be one of the things they did. So they will run things more like an indie show, booking who they can, when they can. A'la PWG, etc. This could definitely impact long-term booking and title holders. We shall see. Or not.

I sort of see this as a transition rather than a shutdown, like NXT 2.0, they had to be paying their talent well, and with some of their bigger stars contracts coming due at the end of the year, it seems like a no brainer to revamp and get a better business plan for the future. Covid really sucked the life out of wrestling early, hard to come back from. I'm sure it won't feel the same from the past success, but rebuilding is like that.

With AEW growing in popularity, ROH needs to re-think their "spot" in the indie scene and reorganize for the future. I believe AEW has become what ROH always wanted to be. Now it's time to "re-brand" the company moving forward. I have only been to one ROH show (10 years ago with my son, who was 18 at the time)... was way more exciting than any WWE show I've ever been to. Just saying.

The AEW women's and tag division have been booked unevenly for some time, the mid card scene is often a merry go round, and well Pockets is Pockets. Back to topic this news explains why ROH has more recently been willing to allow it's talent to work Indy shows.

I guess this means we'll never get the long-awaited updated card for Dalton Castle.
