Right now, I'd have to say that Kingston and Brodie are my two favorites to reach the end... That would be an awesome final too... If the brackets line up... Can't wait!

Card 02: September 17, 2022 – Gold Night One – Western Fair, London, ON
“Zombie Princess” Jimmy Jacobs picked up a controversial victory over Drake Younger in about ten minutes. Plenty of brawling as you would expect between these two competitors. Jacobs used a low blow to gain the upper hand but Younger thrills the fans when he catches Jacobs on the corner and slams him to the mat. A DRAKE’S LANDING followed but did not finish Jacobs. The referee was knocked down and the action went to the floor. Jacobs used a chair to bloody Younger and the fans were livid. The referee recovered just in time for Jacobs to land back to back low blows and get the pin. ***
Chris Hero “That Young Knockout Kid” advanced over Sweet ‘n’ Sour Larry Sweeney by disqualification. Sweeney gained the immediate advantage but Hero countered a clothesline with one of his own sending both men to the mat. Sweeney is up first and quickly scales the corner for a 12 LARGE ELBOW DROP. Hero kicks out of the cover and escapes to the floor for a breather but Sweeney has other ideas and smashed Hero across the back with a chair. The referee calls for the bell after only about two minutes of action. *
Brodie Lee picked up a very impressive victory over NWA Champion Adam Pearce. Lee was a monster in this match from start to finish striking early with a BIG BOOT. Lee followed up with power moves including a pair of Black Hole Slams and two choke slams and another BIG BOOT. Pearce was able to get his shoulder up at the last second. Lee mounted the corner for a deathjump cross body block that put Pearce down for the three count in about 4 minutes. *
Arik Cannon advanced over Jigsaw in an action pack encounter that lasted about ten minutes. Cannon assume immediate control and it did not look like Jigsaw would last that long. However, the masked competitor dug deep and found way to kick out of several covers including one after an ANARCHIST HAMMER. The fans got behind Jigsaw and he responded with a solid comeback including a double foot stomp, superkicks and a Quackendriver I. Back to back jumping enzuigiri’s gave Jigsaw his only near fall of the match. Cannon has able to reverse a whip to the corner late in the match and took back over control hitting a Glimmering Warlock for win. ***
“Die Hard” Eddie Edwards escaped the first round with a disqualification victory over Erick Stevens. This was a hard hitting strong style battle that saw both men use suplexes and strikes in effort to get the upper hand. Edwards found some early success with an Achilles lock and a pair of sitout F5 but Stevens came back with a series of high impact Doctor Bombs. Stevens earned some heat when he rammed Edwards into the ring post busting him open. A bloodied Edwards managed to kick out after a vicious lariat and the action continued. It was back and forth as the action spilled back to the floor. Stevens grabbed a chair and jammed it into the midsection of his opponent during a brawl on the floor and the official called for the disqualification after about nine minutes. ****
The aggression of Delirious proved to be his downfall as he was disqualified against Chuck Taylor after RED POISON. Taylor took a beating from bell to bell in this one including a Cobra Stretch, Shadows Over Hell and Chemical Imbalance II before Delirious blinded his opponent and was bounced for the tournament in less than two minutes. DUD
“Lightning” Mike Quackenbush proved to be too skilled for Tyler Black. There was a great pace to this one with Black taking control after a Buckle Bomb. Black uses a series of superkicks and a gut buster to set up a PHOENIX SPLASH but Quackenbush moves clear. That was the opening that Quackenbush needed and he took over including a Chikara Special and later a deathjump cross body for a big near fall. Black manages to survive a QUACKENDRIVER II but he could not recover after a QUACKENDRIVER III with Quackenbush advancing in about seven minutes. *** ½ Eddie Kingston defeated Necro Butcher by disqualification when Butcher used a chain to choke out Kingston during a brawl on the floor after about three minutes of wild action. No one expected this one to be pretty and it was not. Plenty of forearms and punches in this short but violent encounter. Butcher kept Kingston on the defensive for the most part but could not get the win after a NECRO BOMB. They ended up at ringside and that is were things ended. Both men ended up brawling into the fans and out into the fair grounds as security flooded in to break things up. **

Card 03: September 18, 2022 – Gold Night Two – The Rec Room, Toronto, ON
Chris Hero “That Young Knockout Kid” crushed “Zombie Princess” Jimmy Jacobs in just under five minutes to advance to the finals of the Gold Tournament. A one-sided affair opened the night with Jacobs having no answer for Hero’s size advantage but Jacobs showed some toughness as it took three LOADED ROLLING ELBOWS to finally put him down. *
Airk Cannon stunned Brodie Lee to advance in the Gold Tournament. No one early gave Cannon any chance in this one but he was able to used his speed to avoid a lot of offense from his much larger opponent. The referee was knocked down (8 moves) and Cannon looked to have the match won with a Glimmering Warlock and then an ANARCHIST HAMMER but there was no referee to count the pin. The official recovered just in time for a flurry of offense from Lee but Cannon was able to duck a clothesline and regain control of the match including spraying beer in the face of Lee and later trapping him in a leglock while drinking a beer. A charging clothesline connected and downed Lee for the three-count after about seven minutes. *** ½
“Die Hard” Eddie Edwards escaped Chuck Taylor by disqualification. Taylor came into the action as the underdog but he did not wrestle like it as he was able to find counters when he needed them most and took control of the action. A series of somersault suicide dives had the fans rocking and Edwards reeling. Back in the ring, back to back OMEGA DRIVERS had the fans thinking it was over but Edwards was able to just get shoulder up both times to keep the action going. The match spilled to the floor and Taylor, clearly frustrated by his inability to put Edwards away, decided to smash Edwards with a chair and it cost him a spot in the finals after about seven minutes. *** ½
“Lightning” Mike Quackenbush over Eddie Kingston. With just one spot left in the tournament final four way battle, both men came out focused. Kingston struck with headbutt at the lock up and it looked like Quackenbush would be in trouble early but he countered back and executed a perfect Black Tornado Slam on Kingston. QUACKENDRIVER IV ended it in less than two minutes. *
Osirian Portal (Amasis & Ophidian) downed Young Bucks (Matt Jackson & Nick Jackson) to get some payback after the ending to their encounter at Come Out and Play. The pace in one was off the charts as both teams made plenty of quick tags and used double teaming tactics. The Bucks were able to get Amasis cut off for a stretch and hit Early Onset Alzheimer’s and a springboard spike tombstone but could not get the win before Amasis made a defensive tag. Ophidian used a Death Grip to slow down Nick Jackson and rocked him with a pair of Egyptian Destroyers before Amasis ended it after nine minutes with a EGYPTIAN CONNIPTION. ***
Ultramantis Black shocked Claudio Castagnoli in under two minutes. Black was able to hit an early Argentine facebuster that stunned Castagnoli enough for Black to unleash a PRAYING MANTIS BOMB and that was it. DUD
Pink Ladies (Madison Eagles & Jessie McKay) bested Canadian Ninjas (Nicole Matthews & Portia Perez) when McKay pinned Perez after a huracanrana. The match was back and forth initially but the Ladies were able to cut off Perez and went to work. Perez survived HELL BOUND and a SCHOOL GIRL CRUSH before getting the tag out to Matthews. The action evened out but only briefly before the Ladies were again able to focus their attack on Perez who took a significant beating including another HELL BOUND and BOYFRIEND STEALER before McKay score the pin after about twelve minutes. **
“Die Hard” Eddie Edwards over Arik Cannon, Chris Hero “That Young Knockout Kid” and “Lighning” Mike Quackenbush in a Four Way Ontario Title Match to win the Ontario Title. Quackenbush and Hero immediately renewed their classic conflict with their fight spilling to the floor. Edwards took immediate advantage of being in the ring along with Cannon hitting a chin checker and applying an Achilles Lock for the submission in less than a minute! The fans are shocked. Edwards is presented with the Ontario Title but his celebration is cut short when Erick Stevens comes out of the crowd and attacks Edwards from behind and the show ends with Stevens standing over the new champion holding up the title belt. DUD
Up next, “The Gauntlet” from Oasis, Fanshaw College, London, Ontario on October 27th!

A major triumph for 'Die Hard' Edwards... Too bad the match itself did not live up to its potential... Stoked for The Gauntlet - the show's title has very cool implications!

A major triumph for 'Die Hard' Edwards... Too bad the match itself did not live up to its potential... Stoked for The Gauntlet - the show's title has very cool implications! The match was a bit of a bust. With it ending so quickly and there being no pin save, I decided to have Quackenbush and Hero to busy outside the ring to notice the finish which I hope will set up their feud over the next couple of cards. ROH Edwards is a fighting champion and I still trying to decide who his first challenger will be. Thanks for checking out the action.
