2/16/2022 GNW UPDATE - From GNW headquarters in Mankato, MN here's MEAN GENE OKERLUND!!!

GENE: Good evening wrestling fans to this edition of GNW Update, 2 days removed from our big "CABIN FEVER" event
held in the FARGODOME in the great city of Fargo, North Dakota. In case you didn't know we have a new GNW INTER-STATE
CHAMPION OX BAKER, who defeated a game champion in MR. WRESTLING II. Also, GNW WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION the great, HARLEY RACE successfully defended the gold pinning "THE NATURE BOY" BUDDY ROGERS. Next up for Mr. Race is this man, who defeated Nick Bockwinkel at CABIN FEVER to earn the title shot of course I'm talking about "KILLER" Kowalski.......

KOWALSKI: FINALLY....I get the attention I deserve, and I will do what nobody has been able to do......beat HARLEY RACE, and become the GNW WORLD CHAMPION. I will do whatever it takes....WHATEVER IT TAKES.....Harley Race enjoy the remaining days of your title reign.(Kowalski leaves)

GNW rolls into the PANTHER ARENA on the campus of the UNIVERSITY of WISCONSIN-MILWAUKEE for a night of GREAT NORTH Wrestling action! winners will be in RED.

BRAIN SAGER: Welcome to GREAT NORTH WRESTLING MILWAUKEE!!!! TONIGHT, we have 7 big matches and an INTER-STATE title defense as well as a GNW WORLD TAG-TEAM main event. The time for chit-chat is over LET'S DO THIS!!!

THE VALIANT BROS. vs THE BLACKJACKS.
From the opening bell you knew this was going to be a war. Both teams needing a win badly, pulled out all the stops to get the "w". The Valiants started fast taking it to B.J. Lanza with Johnny V. getting a two-count on Lanza after a big bodyslam. Both teams tagged in and out with precision and B.J. Mulligan nearly gets Jimmy to submit using his dreaded CLAW, but Johnny breaks it up and a full-fledged melee takes place, beginning inside the ring, then spilling outside. B.J. Lanza sends Johnny into the ring post, While Mulligan drops Jimmy V. back first onto the railing. The ref finally gets the action back into ring...with Lanza putting the boots to Jimmy, he tags Mulligan, and they deliver a huge jumping lariat after sending Jimmy into the ropes...Mulligan goes for the cover....Johnny rushes in a second time negating the pin. Again, the action erupts all four men wailing on one another, again everyone goes outside the ring. The ref begins the count out,....but decides to DQ the VALIANTS after they slam Mulligan first into the bell. then PILEDRIVE him onto the floor! TIME: 12:53.

TERRY "BAM-BAM" GORDY vs. THE GREAT KABUKI.
Gordy wastes little time and executes a BAM-BAM slam early in the contest, but Kabuki kicks out at 1. Gordy continues to punish his foe, until Kabuki uses an illegal throat-thrust to slow the big man down. He tosses Gordy outside and quickly things get out of hand, Gordy catches Kabuki with a solid right hand, the rams Kabuki's head into the table. After tossing the dazed Asian back into the squared circle, he pins Kabuki after a crushing Lariat followed by his finisher THE ASIAN SPIKE.
TIME: 10:11.

SUPER DESTROYER vs. AUSTIN IDOL.
Another good match much to the crowd's appreciation. Super D attempts an early pin with a double axe-handle blow after executing a perfect side-slam. But Idol kicks out, and they continue. Idol soon takes a turn at the controls wearing his opponent down with headlocks and bearhugs then goes for the pin after a spear. But SUPER DESTROYER is able to kick out at 2, mostly because Austin didn't hook the leg. IDOL keeps up his offensive effectively weakening SUPER D's leg with kicks and stomps. Austin finally wins the match as Super Destroyer submits under the pressure provided by IDOL's patented LAS VEGAS LEGLOCK. TIME: 8:13.

THE IRON SHEIK/NIKOLAI VOLKOFF vs. THE LOVE BROTHERS. WINNER GETS A TAG-TEAM TITLE SHOT.
The so far undefeated Love Bros. face their biggest GNW test so far against the only team (SHEIK/VOLKOFF) to beat the WORLD CHAMPION ROAD WARRIORS (NON-TITLE MATCH). It starts out pretty much an even scientific struggle, both teams taking turns with the control of the match. Reginald Love nearly pins the Sheik twice, once after a flying head-scissors, and another time following a double team maneuver (double clothesline), but one the SHEIK kicked out of, the second Volkoff broke up the count. Volkoff when he was in the ring punished both of the LOVE Bros. getting pin attempts on each brother. On an attempted clothesline off the ropes by Volkoff to Hartford Love, Reggie pulls the top rope down and Volkoff crashes onto the floor on his head. Nikolai fails to beat the 10-count, winners THE LOVE BROTHERS. They are next for the LEGION OF DOOM.
TIME: 13:40.

JUNKYARD DOG vs. "PLAYBOY" BUDDY ROSE. Winner receives an INTER-STATE title shot.
Rose jumps JYD before he can even get into the ring...kicking him as he rolled under the bottom rope to get in! Rose continues to lay heavy boots to JYD...kicking him out onto the floor. Rose attempts to jump off the ring onto JYD but is caught by him and slammed back first into the ring apron. JYD tosses Rose back into the ring and finishes him with his THUMP. TIME: 4:35.

********************SEMI-MAIN EVENT GNW INTER-STATE CHAMPIONSHIP**************************

RVD vs. (CH) THE FANTASTIC OX BAKER.
The OX flexes his muscles early in this one, with a series of punishing forearms and well-placed boots. RVD ducks a clothesline and executes a small package on the champ, who quickly kicks out. After delivering a huge elbow to RVD in the corner Ox tosses him out of the ring. A full-scale brawl ensues outside of course, where surprisingly the ref disqualifies the challenger for using the table and the railing and for repeated chair shots. RVD argues with the ref, as OX quickly makes a hasty exit, his belt in tow. TIME: 6:48.

**********************MAIN EVENT GNW TAG-TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH*************************

THE POWERS OF PAIN (Warlord/Barbarian) vs. (CH) THE ROAD WARRIORS (HAWK/ANIMAL).
Hawk starts the action in this one against the Barbarian. The teams seem evenly matched neither one gains an upper hand, until Barbarian hits Animal with a running clothesline. With Animal lying in the center of the ring, Barbarian makes the tag to the Warlord who climbs up the turnbuckle to the top rope to attempt a deathjump. Taking too much time ANIMAL rises up and tosses Warlord out into the center of the ring, then he tosses Warlord off the ropes and catches him with a flying forearm. Getting only 2 count Animal tags in Hawk and he goes to town, catching a rushing Barbarian with a big boot and a righthand 
he tosses the illegal intruder out of the ring.... and pins the WARLORD after a crunching running powerslam. The crowd goes wild as THE LEGION OF DOOM raise their belts high. TIME: 16:32.

BRIAN SAGER: Hello MANNNNNKATOOOOOOO, we're home!(crowd roars loudly). WE have 6 big matches on the card tonight including THE GNW WORLD CHAMPION HARLEY RACE defends against KILLER KOWALSKI!! Enough chit-chat LET'S DO THIS!!!! (Before he can get to the ring he is stopped by "Killer" Karl Krupp and Baron Von Raschke.)

KRUPP:First we would like to say we are proud to be a part of this momentous occasion.But something needs to be addressed.We, my esteemed colleague (points to the Baron who is displaying his dreaded Claw) and myself demand that GNW Commissioner Bill Watts,and the GNW governing body do the following immediately if not sooner! STRIP THE TAG-TEAM CHAMPIONS, HAWK AND ANIMAL of their tag-team belts and hand them to us....The GESTOMPO.We are superior men, pure and intelligent,master grapplers,and they are unclean,inferior cowardly swine! Anything to add Herr Baron?

RASCHKE:DAS is right Herr Krupp, you know it,I know it,and all these peeple (points to the jeering crowd) know it! We are the superior men, smarter men, pure,clean men, while they wallow in mediocrity and cowardice...ROAD WARRIORS this will be the only time we will be merciful. Give the belts to us, turn tail and leave and we won't have to hurt you! THIS IS YOUR ONLY WARNING.(the 2 head to the back, as the crowd boos and throws refuse towards them.)

1.ONE MAN GANG vs.Bryan Danielson.
Danielson took advantage of his speed and agility early,and had 3 failed pin attempts.GANG takes his smaller opponent out of the ring and delivers a powerful high impact assault and tosses him back into the ring.OMG attempts his 747 SPLASH...but misses as Bryan barely rolls away.But Danielson's energy is depleted and after a powerslam by Gang his second 747 hits home and OMG gets the win 1,2,3.TIME:9:47.

2.MIKE GRAHAM vs. Killer Karl Krupp.
GRAHAM wins by DQ.This one was a grueling contest for Graham.His ability to kick out was really frustrating Krupp.Graham managed 2 pin attempts himself,one by roll-up(2 count), the other via a solid dropkick (1 count).Krupp opens up a sizeable gash on GRAHAM using an inverted suplex on the floor. After 4 kick outs by Graham,Krupp in frustration grabs his riding crop and beats Graham senseless and is disqualified.TIME:8:16.

3.Jimmy Snuka vs. BARON VON RASCHKE.
BOTH men had their A-game in full gear.Snuka at one point stuns the big German with a leap over the top rope, landing on top of the Baron on the floor!
Mixing a brawling style with his agility attack Snuka sets Raschke up for a SUPERFLY LEAP.BUT the Baron was playing possum and Snuka misses.A bodyslam, a clothesline and a handful of tights,and The Baron wins!!!.. he lumbers back to the locker-room while Snuka pleads his case to the ref.

4. The Irresistibles(G.George/A.Street)
vs.
LOS VAQUEROS (CHAVO SR./HECTOR G.)
Street/Gorgeous George work Hector over pretty good at the start keeping him isolated from his brother Chavo.After finally making the tag, Chavo came in a real ball of fire! As Hector comes in to stop a charging GEORGE, Chavo hit EXOTIC ADRIAN with a MOONSAULT BODYPRESS for the pin.TIME:12:34

5.Tully Blanchard vs. DICK THE BRUISER
Blanchard really wanting to be the aggressor found the road tough going until he swept Bruiser's leg causing his neck to catch on the ropes.Tully sends the stunned Bruiser into the turnbuckle and charges,but Dick sidesteps and Blanchard hits the pole and careens to the floor.Bruiser slams Tully on the floor,tosses him back into the ring gets 2 count.After regaining control after a nut-shot,Blanchard does execute his slingshot suplex but doesn't hook the leg no pin.Bruiser weathers his opponent's last assault,takes control with a stomach claw,but Tully won't submit. Bruiser begins to pound Tully senseless, then gets the pin with a top-rope knee-drop to the back of Blanchard's head.TIME:13:27.

6. KILLER KOWALSKI
vs.
(Ch) Harley Race
History was made in this one as The GNW WORLD TITLE changed hands! Kolwalski had a plan.He struck early and often,and he never let Race catch a break or a breath.In fact his strategy went so well The Champ only managed one brief comeback that was easily dismissed by the determined Kowalski.After regaining control KOWALSKI pins Race who passes out
under the pressure of Killer's vicious Claw Hold.TIME:12:43.

SAGER: WOW what an upset!!! A New World Champion!!!! KILLER KOWALSKI! WHAT a night folks travel safe,we will see you soon THINGS ATE HOT HERE IN THE GREAT NORTH!!!....Goodbye Everybody.

Oh!  The Baron sneaks a win from the Superfly!  Ha ha!!

Los Vaqueros with a big win agains the The Irresistibles (love the team name)!

The Bruiser won't be denied against Tully Blanchard.  I used to love going to see the Bruiser beat up his opponents back in the day!

Harley!  So bummed he succumbed to the Killer Claw!
