Quest for Answers



- chapter one -

I wake up to the buzzing of my video-com. I try to ignore it but it's loud, louder than the ringing in my ears. I sit up and pinch my nose, surprised to find crusted blood underneath. How did it get here? The ringing of the Vid-com disrupts my train of thought. Annoyed, I finally answer. It's my former Captain. He bypasses the niceties and gets right to the point.
"We have a missing person's case and we could use your expertise." The Captain says. "Think you could help us out?"
Half awake I grumble.
"You vid me after all this time, wake me up and it's for a missing person? Goodbye."
I go to end the Vid-call when The Captain interjects.
"You don't want to hang up. I reached out for a reason. Help us not or not?"
"Not." I grab a cigarette, light it, and again reach to end the call.
"It's for a wrestler...Care now?"
My finger pauses. I turn and finally make eye contact with my former Captain.
"You serious?" I say still weary.
"Yes." says The Captain. "Get yourself to Mafeii Luxury Apartments. Meet my men, look around, tell us what you see. Oh and make sure you change your shirt, it's covered in blood...is it your opponent's at least?"
"Not sure yet." I say as I end the call. I shower and head over to address The Captain has given me.
The luxury apartments are known to house several wrestlers working in the area for upstart federation FTR. I get to the apartment of the victim, a popular up and comer called Blue Chip. I survey the scene but nothing seems out of sorts. I check the back deck and notice some damage to the railing. Maybe there was a struggle? Did someone tumble over the railing? That's a two story fall, that would mess up anyone's day. I head back inside when I notice the holovision is still on. One of the Galacticops assigned to the case goes to turn it off and I stop him.
"Turn it up." I say gruffly.
"Looks like the show is about to start..."

TAKE OFF! 

Commissioner Rocket's first order of business was to declare the FTR titles vacant.
"The first show of the Rocket Era will see the crowning of a new FTR champion! The 14 main signee's will meet in a Battle Royale until only 8 remain. Those 8 will compete in one on one matches with the final four meeting at the end of the night! One fall to take it all!" Rocket paused as the fans cheered loudly. "Since Blue Chips is missing, I will be lacing them up and taking hi place in the Battle Royale! Everyone strap yourself in, the Rocket Era is about to TAKE OFF!"

Eliminations

Axe gets overzealous trying to clothesline Uranus for a third time over the top rope. Uranus pulls the rope down and Axe spills to the floor.
Mayham powers out his teammate King Tux to the dismay of fans.
T.A. wins the battle of beef as he powers Mass up and over the top rope.
Cephalopodis wants his turn and nearly throws out the Maxus Man but Astarte comes to his partners aid. Both Rocket Men team up to throw Cephalopodis over.
Sonny Rocket is so pleased by his team working together that he doesn't see Crossbones sneak up behind him grab him, grab him by the trunks and mullet and toss him over.
T.A. and Astarte go after Crossbones to avenge their manager. Crossbones holds on for dear life and is nearly out.
Luckily for Crossbones, Vacant dumps a limp Chameleon up and over after she passes out from being choked on the ropes.

The ref calls for the bell!

One on One

Capt. Crossbones vs. Moonlight
Moonlight puts up a valiant effort but goes down to BLACK SAILS

Astarte vs. Uranus
Astarte looked well on his way to victory against the Overmatched. A simple almost accidental drop toe hold by Uranus sent Astarte into the middle rope (619 style). As Uranus pulled himself up by the ref effectively distracting him, Mass slugged Astarte in the face with his nub knocking Astarte out! Uranus took full advantage putting Astarte in SON OF JANUS on the mat for the shocking win.

Swerve vs. T.A.
T.A. uses his size and strength to get passed the more athletic but timid Swerve, ending it with an AWESOME FINISHER.

Vacant vs. Mayham
Shock follows shock as Mayham gets the win over Vacant with a Piggy Plex

FINALS

Capt. Crossbones vs. Uranus vs. T.A. vs. Mayham
T.A. goes directly at Crossbones for throwing his manager out of the Battle Royale while Mayham chases after Uranus. The men battle for nearly twenty minutes with several pin attempts by each (Uranus running in and trying to steal pins off of the other wrestlers work). T.A had Uranus beat when Mass lumbered out of the back distracting the big man. Astarte attacks Mass from behind and the two fight in the aisle. The distraction is enough and Crossbones takes advantage lifting T.A up and over the rope dumping him to the floor. The Captain quickly follows up with BLACK SAILS on Mayham and gets the 1-2-3!

Captain Crossbones is the NEW FTR Champion!

Sonny Rocket begrudgingly awards the man who threw him out of the battle royale the title. As Crossbones celebrates former commissioner Encubus appears on the
Holo-tron.
"Congratulations on your title win. As my last act as commissioner I made a high profile signing as a going away present to the FTR fans."
The Holo-Tron goes black and the familiar music of Pardon hits! The hardcore Centauran comes out the back and he's swarmed by fans! He walks through the crowd gets in the ring and immediately starts brawling with the new FTR champion Crossbones! The show goes off with the fight still going on!

Holy snap! Some really big upsets during that event... Stoked that the Captain was able to claim the prize... Fun way to kick things off!

Uranus was a monster run the whole show, I thought he was going to take the whole thing. I couldn't stop laughing at how good he did the whole show. Thanks for checking things out! I'm having a lot of fun playing the FTR so there will definitely be more to come!

Uranus has a lot of strange luck. He’s definitely had some surprising success in my fed too. Most often he gets smashed. But every once in awhile he goes on a run or pulls a big W out of his hat. Maybe it’s because FTR doesn’t have the strongest cards, but it’s entertaining nonetheless. He definitely has that Overman fighting spirit.

- chapter two -

We watch the opening to Take Off! standing in a semi-circle in the missing wrestlers apartment.
"Get back to work, ladies. You're not being paid to watch wrasslin'." said the Police Sergeant. He gives me the hairy eyeball, we've never really gotten along even back when we worked the same beat.
"I'm not being paid at all to be here, so long boys."
I raced home to watch the rest of the show, shocked by the last signing of Encubus and the brawl that ended it all.
The next few days all I could think about was Sonny Rocket taking Blue Chip's spot so easily. A little too easily really. He mentioned that Blue Chip was missing. To my knowledge that hasn't been made public yet. Was he involved? He's benefitted from Chip's disappearance, that's for sure.
I'm training for a fight when The Captain shows up.
"So whatya think? Foul play?" he asks.
I stop clobbering the speed bag with a final knock out punch then answer.
"Don't know, don't care. Not my job anymore."
I grab my stuff to leave when I hear The Captain.
"You're lying! To me and to yourself! I know you care!"
He's right, I do care. I need to know what happened.
For now I have to get home, Elevation starts in a half hour...

Maffei II, The Launching Pad

Commissioner Rocket comes to the ring holding the FTR Tag Titles in his hand. He tells the fans that there is no need to have a tournament because we all know who the best tag team in FTR are...Mad Maxus! T.A and Electric Axe come to the ring to mixed reactions from the crowd and accept the titles. Axe goes to speak when Uranus and Mass interrupt.
"Enjoy those titles while you have them because soon I will have the prefect team to take down Mad Maxus!" Uranus say smugly.
"That's all well and good but shouldn't Mass be getting ready for his match? Him and Astarte are going to tango tonight, and Astarte is not happy with Mass getting involved in his match!"
Mass grins and shakes his head while the Kroll Scientists scurry out and rush him to the back. Uranus follows.
Axe goes to speak again when King Tux and Cephalopdis interrupt! They refuse to accept Mad Maxus are just given the title. They challenge Mad Maxus tonight for the tag titles and they accept!

CHAMELEON VS. MOONLIGHT
Moonlight owns Chameleon and makes her tap to a Cristo.
After the match Pardon's music hits. He makes his way through the crowd and climbs in the ring eyeing Moonlight. She stares back at him frozen in the corner as he paces back and forth never taking an eye off of her. Finally she nods, steps forward and follows Pardon out of the ring!

VACANT VS. MAYHAM
Vacant wins a hardcore battle making Mayham tap to SPINE CRACKER.

Captain Crossbones is in the bowels of the Launching Pad.
"Ye made a grave mistake comin' here boy! Try to steal my moment, my spotlight? Oh you'll pay fer that! Might want to check yer history, Centaurans don't have the greatest track record with Brymstonians. Ask Crossfire...oh wait, that's right ya can't! Har! Har! Har! Be warry of the seas yer tryin' to traverse or ye might find yerself with Blue Chip or worse, in Davey Jones' Locker!"

ASTARTE VS. MASS
Astarte impresses everyone by muscling Mass up and dropping him with GREATNESS DAWNS.
Uranus tried to distract Astarte by jumping up and down on the ring apron but Rocket (acting as manager) pulls him off and lays him out with a single punch.

FTR TAG TITLE MATCH
MAD MAXUS VS. KING TUX & CEPHALOPODIS
A four star main event! All four men end up brawling after Cephalopodis saved Tux from AWESOME FINISHER. Seeing the tide turn Sonny decided to get involved but Uranus runs down the aisle blindsiding Rocket with a clothesline. This distracted Axe enough for King Tux to take over and hit BELLY FLOP! 1-2-3! It's over! The announcement is made -

ANNNND NEEEEEEWW FTR TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS - KING TUX AND CEPHALOPODIS

Rocket looks stunned as the show ends!

King Tux and Cephalopodis as champs?!?! Hold me...I'm scared! That is the first sign of the apocalypse sir!

I thought I'd give Mad Maxus an easy win to kick off their reign instead I got a crazy good match and new tag champs! With this and Uranus having a run on my first show nothing has gone the way I thought it would and I'm loving every second of it. Thanks for checking things out!
