WWL Cup Spring 2089
Rome Empire @ Los Angeles Stars
(O) Invincible Krakan (LA) 3-3 record beat Mad Jester (R) 2-4 with Falling Face Slam. Time: 3:51. Fatigue: Mad Jester-1, Invincible Krakan-1. (MC) Splatter (LA) 5-1 beat Tongsoon (R) 4-2 with Hatchet Job. Time: 6:57. Fatigue: Tongsoon-2. (ME) Thantos (R) 5-1 beat Bishop Hell (LA) 3-3 via DQ. Time: 9:11. Fatigue: Thantos-2, Bishop Hell-3.
Winner: Los Angeles 2-1
Los Angeles wins the first WWL Cup.
Injuries: No new ones.
NOTES: The LA crowd were like a live wire crackling with electricity in anticipation of their team bringing home the WWL Cup. --- Invincible Krakan, who has been on a tear ever since being moved from Mid-Card to Opening matches, took the fight to Mad Jester from the get-go. He used a Cobra Clutch Suplex to set up his first pin attempt but only got a two count. I bit later he tried a sunset flip but Mad Jester countered for a pin attempt and got a scary close 2 1/2. When Krakan hit his finisher, he got the three-count but Mad Jester got his shoulder up just after the three. It was so close it went to instant replay but the ref saw the three-count come close giving LA the early 1-0 lead. --- In the Mid-Card both men looked intense as they knew just how much was riding on their match. These were two of the top men in WWL. If Splatter won it was game over, LA would be the champs. Tongsoon had to win to avoid that. Plus, with his win evening things up it would put things in Rome's favor with league MVP Thantos facing a badly injured Bishop Hell in the Main Event. Tongoon put up a good fight but Splatter showed why, even though not in the Opening match he won Ignitor of the Year, as he kept attacking Tongsoon. He used an undetected foreign object early in the match and covered for a 1 count. Later he hit Hatchet Job but only got a 2. He wasted no time and hit Hatchet Job again right after and got the pin. He won the match and LA won the game and the WWL Cup. --- While the fans started the celebration there was still one match left. Even though it was academic at this point the two men were not going to take it easy. They both had their pride fueling them toward a win. Bishop Hell, wrapped up shoulder and ribs, was not going to give up on a possible sweep easily. He flew off the top rope with a nasty clothesline. He hit a backbreaker and covered for a 1 count. Then it was a Flying Cross but it took him so long to make the cover after he again only got a 1. He tossed Thantos into the corner and when he blindly charged in Thantos moves and Hell ended up crashing and burning onto the floor. Thantos went after him and both men tore into each other. Unfortunately for Bishop Hell, he decided to grab a chair and hit Thantos with it ending the match. He put up a good showing. Thantos never even attempted a pin or submission. Thantos gloated after the game that Hell knew he couldn't beat him but seemed to forget that his team lost.

WWL News
Howard Berman: This is a special report looking at what is going on with the WWL during the off season. First, we will cover The Three, that is the top three stories, then we will touch on some other items of interest. So, let's get right to it with The Three starting with number three.
The Three
3) Expansion coming in Spring 2090
WWL officials have confirmed that they will be adding teams for the Spring 2090 season. There will be two teams in each Conference. For the North American Conference expansion teams have been rewarded to Las Vegas and Toronto. For the European Conference teams have been rewarded to Paris and Glasgow. More information on these teams will come at a later date along with how they will field their teams. What is known now is the season will expand to 10 games as each team will play the other teams in their Conference twice a season, one home and one away.
2) PED scandal in the WWL?
Recently Beast-Rider changed his name to Terak but that is not the only thing that changed. His strength and skill vastly improved. It led to whispers and rumors that he was using some kind of PED. He quickly denied those rumors saying that his improvement was due to his lifestyle and living on his nature preserve. "I am just a natural man" he was quoted as saying. He let himself be tested for PED including three surprise tests on his preserve and he passed with flying colors. WWL said he, along with other wrestlers, will continue to be tested but Terak is cleared of any suspicion.
1) The MVP holds out for more m-o-n-e-y.
Thantos, the reigning MVP and the first draft pick is holding out for a new contract. The team could pick up his 2nd year option, which they would do as they want to keep him on the team, or they could write up a new contract like he wants. Thantos says he has showed his value and now it is time for Rome Empire to show him his value to the team by paying him more money. Will Rome ante up? If not, how long is Thantos willing to sit out?
Other news stories:
- Terak is not the only man with a new name. The wrestler Reptillo has changed his name to Serpent Unman. He did not appear on a roster last year and is in the draft pool for the Fall 89 draft. - Speaking of the draft, the top pick is expected to be Iron Mane. Frankfurt currently holds the top pick. Here is the order of the draft, only two rounds this year, and the current draft pool. More wrestlers could be added between now and the draft. Especially if teams make any more cuts.
1st round
1 - Frankfurt 2 - Barcelona (received from New York in a trade) 3 - Chicago 4 - Mexico City 5 - Barcelona 6 - London 7 - Rome 8 - Los Angeles
2nd round
1 - Frankfurt 2 - New York 3 - Chicago 4 - Mexico City 5 - Barcelona 6 - London 7 - Rome 8 - Los Angeles
Eligible wrestlers:
Antimatter - 25 Creeper - 7 Death Knight - (-8) Death Masque - 16 Executioner - 18 Ghengis Khan - 12 Hitman for Hire - 26 Iron Mane -38 Matter - 30 Mitsuko - 3 Mutant - 7 Omega - (-8) Pulsar - 8 Reynard B Guile - (-28) Royal Overlord - (-25) Serpent Unman - 7 Terak - 19 Trainer Jim - (-22) Vanity - 7
- It seems there is some truth to the Wolf trade rumors. It seems Frankfurt is interested in trading for him but they do not wish to part with their first-round pick (#1). If we get any more news on this, or any other possible trade, we will pass it on.

WWL News
Alice Bundy: A lot of news coming out of the WWL from a trade to information on next season's expansion to new contracts. So, let's get to it and start with The Three.
The Three
3) WWL announces changes to team structure and match rules.
The WWL announced that due to a rash of injuries in the first season they are expanding team rosters to five men. Teams can have up to eight men during the off-season as they prepare for the season but must have their roster down to five at the start of the season. Also, due to the extra roster spot and rising contracts the new salary cap will be $600,000. Along with that, due to a large number of matches ending in DQ last season WWL officials have reviewed the situation and talked to the refs about giving a bit more leeway when officiating matches. The plan is to have less DQs and more matches ending with a pin or submission which is what the fans want.
2) Thantos signs a new contract.
The reigning MVP has come to terms on a new contract with the Rome Empire. He signed a two-season contract that will pay him $160K a season. That is a nice increase from the $100K he was to make in the Fall 89 season. This started a wave of new contracts including Thantos's teammate Tongsoon who signed a two-season contract at $110K a season. This would have left the Empire with only $70K cap space before the draft but with the cap increase, they now have more breathing room at $170K. Splatter and Incredible Badger also signed new two season contracts based off their good run in Spring 89 season. More signings are expected to occur.
1) Big trade is made.
Frankfurt and Mexico City finally got the trade down. Mexico City is sending Wolf to Frankfurt and they are getting Exo-King in return. Both men were first round picks in the first draft but underperformed mostly due to injuries. Wolf battled thru injuries as the 3rd overall pick and had a mediocre season. Exo-King looked to be getting it together before a season ending injury. It is hoped that a change of scenery will do both men good. The teams are also swapping their second-round picks in the Fall 89 draft. The trade was held up as Mexico City wanted Frankfurt's first round pick, #1 over all, and draft Iron Mane. Frankfurt did not want to part with it. Once they offered Exo-King it was about extra compensation for Mexico City which the swapping of picks handled.
Other news:
- The four expansion teams that will start in Spring 90 have got their team names.
North American Conference
Toronto Juggernauts Las Vegas Aces
European Conference
Paris Legion Glasgow Rangers
- It was announced that there will be an expansion draft before the Spring 90 draft to help the expansion teams start their rosters. They will get to make picks from the existing eight team's rosters. The existing teams will have six possible choices for the expansion teams to pick from, five players and their first-round draft pick in the Spring 90 draft. Each existing team will have to have four of them available and can protect up to two. Existing teams will have to make at least four available meaning if they have less than five on their roster and/or do not have a first-round draft pick they will not be able to protect two. It is believed that teams will make sure they have a five-man roster so less likely to cut anyone and more likely to sign to an extra season so they are not free agents and off the team roster when the expansion draft happens. Each expansion team will make two picks, each existing team can only be picked from once.
- There will be a random draw to see the order the expansion teams will draft in the expansion draft. That order will be reversed in the standard Spring 90 draft. The expansion teams will draft at the top of the first round but the end of the second round.

ESPN Space Special
WWL Fall 89 Draft
Howard Berman: Welcome to the WWL Fall 89 Draft on ESPN Space. The fans here are waiting in anticipation of the draft, hoping their team makes a great pick.
Alice Bundy: So true Howard. Things sure got shook up this year with the late addition of Matador of M-83 to the draft pool. Iron Mane was all set to be the first pick in this season's draft but now it looks like he might go second.
Howard Berman: True but we will just have to wait and see if that is what happens. It appears that Commissioner Carter is making his way to the podium to get things started.
As Commissioner Carter walks to the podium some fans boo and Carter waves his hand up to encourage them to be louder. He has a big smile on his face.
Commissioner Carter: Welcome everyone to the Fall 89 WWL Draft. I see everyone here is all pumped up for the draft so let's get right to it. The draft is officially underway and the Frankfurt Knights are on the clock.
Alice Bundy: It is believed by most that Frankfurt will select Matador of M-83 but we will have to wait and see.
Howard Berman: There were some rumblings in last couple days that someone might try and trade up to the top stop to take Matador but it does not look like Frankfurt wants to pass on the opportunity to get him. And it seems their pick is in. Let's go to the Commissioner.
Commissioner Carter: With the first pick in the Fall 89 draft, the Frankfurt Knights select, Matador of M-83. The Barcelona Conquistadors are now on the clock.
Howard Berman: No surprise there. Matador is a top talent and should help make Frankfurt a better team.
Alice Bundy: One interesting story coming out of this is how this effects Wolf. He was the third overall pick last year and got hurt in week one. He battled injuries and had a so-so season for Mexico City. Then he got traded in the off season to Frankfurt. It looked like he would be the top dog for Frankfurt with a light push from Iron Mane who was expected to be the top pick. Now, he will instead have to battle Matador for the top spot on the Frankfurt team.
Howard Berman: Speaking of Iron Man, Barcelona must be happy to see him land in their lap. They first got this pick from trading with New York last year and most expected this pick to be at the end of the first round. But New York struggled in the Spring 89 season and ended up with the second overall pick which Barcelona got.
Alice Bundy: It appears they have made their pick official.
Commissioner Carter: With the second pick in the Fall 89 draft, the Barcelona Conquistadors select, Iron Mane. The Chicago Muscle are now on the clock.
Howard Berman: Again, no surprise there. Now is when things start to get interesting. Who will Chicago take? They have a nice core but need some help if they want to be in contention for the WWL Cup this season and going forward. Some names they might take are Matter, Antimatter, Count Necros or Hitman for Hire. There is a bit of a drop-off in talent after the first two who were already selected but still some talent on the board.
Commissioner Carter: With the thrid pick in the Fall 89 draft, the Chicago Muscle pick, Matter. The Mexico City Fire are now on the clock.
Alice Bundy: The Muscle take Matter and he should be a nice addition to their locker room. His finisher is the Positive Charge and Chicago hopes his addition to the team is a positive one. Now, Mexico City is on the clock as they are going thru a bit of a roster shake up. They traded away Wolf and got Exo-King back in return. King is healthy after his injury from last season and looking forward to showing the Mexico City fans what he can do.
Howard Berman: Along with Exo-King, the Fire swapped second round picks with Frankfurt. So, while they pick here at four, they have another pick at nine, the first pick in the second round.
Commissioner Carter: With the fourth pick in the Fall 89 draft, the Mexico City fire select, Count Necros. The Barcelona Conquistadors are on the clock.
Howard Berman: An interesting pick by the Fire. Count Necros has upside but he does have a tendency to get disqualified. Of course, with officials stressing more leeway in matches this season it is possible the Fire are banking on him not getting DQ'd as much.
Alice Bundy: Barcelona is back on the clock. This time, it is their own pick. They grabbed Iron Man with the pick they got from New York. Who will they select with their pick? I'm thinking Hitman for Hire.
Howard Berman: We are about to find out as the pick is in.
Commissioner Carter: With the fifth pick in the Fall 89 draft, the Barcelona Conquistadors select, Sectarian. The London Red Coats are on the clock.
Alice Bundy: Wow, our first surprise of the draft. Barcelona reaches a bit and takes Sectarian.
Howard Berman: Another wrestler with raw talent that just needs to refine it. He could end up being a bust...or end up being the steal of the draft. Time will tell.
Commissioner Carter: With the sixth pick in the Fall 89 draft, the London Red Coats have selected, Hitman for Hire. The Rome Empire are now on the clock.
Alice Bundy: There goes Hitman, one pick later than I expected. He is a hardnosed brawler with some wrestling ability.
Howard Berman: With that pick, we are done with the none playoff teams in the first round. Just two picks left and those are for the teams that played in the WWL Cup. Rome came close to winning it all but came up short. Who will they get to help the reigning MVP, Thantos, fresh off his new big contract, take Rome all the way to the top. Let's find out.
Commissioner Carter: With the seventh pick in the Fall 89 draft, the Rome Empire select, Antimatter. The Los Angeles Stars are on the clock for the final pick of the first round.
Alice Bundy: We saw Matter go earlier, now Antimatter is taken. He is not as good but solid.
Howard Berman: He gives Rome some depth. I think he moves ahead of Billy Joe Boxer for fourth on the depth chart and could push Mad Jester for the Opening match position. At this point in the draft, with the pool not strong, this is all Rome could hope for. Really, I feel beyond Matador and Iron Man no one is a sure starter. Most will be fighting for Opening match, Mid-Card at best.
Alice Bundy: True. In the second round it will be people fighting to make the roster.
Commissioner Carter: With the eighth and final pick of the first round of the Fall 89 draft, the Los Angeles Stars select, Scourge.
Howard Berman: Another tough fighter. He will have to fight to get on the roster possibly but he is joining the reigning WWL Cup champions. Well, that concludes the first round of the Fall 89 draft and our coverage. We will post the results of both rounds of the draft to see who all were chosen. The draft is almost over and the Fall 89 season is just around the corner. For Alice Bundy I am Howard Berman thanking you for joining us.

WWL Training Camp
Howard Berman: There are some great stories coming out of WWL training camps as people battle for their spot or even just A spot on their teams. Here are some of the highlights.
- London has signed Omega as a free agent to a 1 season contract at the 20K minimum. It is believed that this was done as a gesture to Star Warrior who wants to play on the same team as his dad. Omega is expected to be given a chance to make the team but is not expected to make the final cut. He will be competing with Adam Blast, who was drafted Spring 89, and Executioner who was drafted this year for just one open spot.
- In LA, on the championship team, Lighting will be battling Vlad Hammer for a spot on the team.
- Over in Chicago Proteus, Renegade and Mr. Galaxy will be battling it out. Two will make it, one will end up cut.
- Mexico City will see Man-Mountain and Tendron fight for a roster spot. Man-Mountain looked good in limited action last season but the team is said to be high on Tendron.
- Rome has a roster spot open for either Billy Jo Boxer or Pulsar. There are rumors that Thantos sees something in Pulsar. No one is sure if that will affect the decision.
- Things are really interesting on the Barcelona team. Comrade Terror is no fan of Commander Sam and it is believed Sam will be fighting Killer Queen and Death Masque for the 5th spot on the roster. But Terror cannot worry about Sam too much. He will have to fight off Iron Man for the Main Event spot. Meanwhile Lord Nexus and Sectarian are said to be in the hunt for the Opening match spot with the other being first alternate.
Howard Berman: Cuts will have to be made not only to get down to the five-man roster but some teams, Rome and London, need to get under the salary cap before the start of the Fall 89 season.

WWL News
Howard Berman: With the Fall 89 season just about to kick off, the teams have made their cuts to get to five-man rosters. Let's take a look at the cuts.
- New York only have five men so they did not have to make any cuts. - Los Angeles cut recent draft pick Vlad Hammer. - Chicago also cut a recent draft pick, Mr. Galaxy. Word is he gave a good effort but fell just short. - Mexico City cut Tendron who also came close but fell short. Man-Mountain beat him out. - London had to make two cuts. Adam Blast and Omega. Omega was expected as he was just signed as a free agent at the minimum. Shortly after he was cut, he made a statement thanking London for the opportunity and to announce his retirement from WWL. He will not be an available FA like the other cuts. - Rome cut Billy Jo Boxer. That means Pulsar makes the roster in the fifth spot. - Barcelona cut two as well. They released Killer Queen, in a bit of a shocker, and Death Masque. - Frankfurt did not have to make any cuts as they made releases before the draft and were at the five-man roster size already.
Howard Berman: All of those that were cut now become free agents. Here is the list of free agents going into the Fall 89 season.
Free Agents:
Adam Blast - 14 Billy Jo Boxer - 15 Creeper - 7 Death Knight - (-8) Death Masque - Ghengis Khan - 12 Guardsman - 1 Killer Queen - 23 Mitsuko - 3 Mr. Galaxy - 18 Mutant - 7 Reynard B Guile - (-28) Royal Overlord - (-25) Serpent Unman - 7 Tendron - 21 Trainer Jim - (-22) Vanity - 7 Vlad Hammer - 14
Howard Berman: Lastly, there were some position battles. Let's take a look at those.
- Wolf held onto the Main Event spot for his new team, Frankfurt. Top overall pick Matador of M-83 will start in the Mid-Card position. - Comrade Terror of Barcelona held off the challenge of Iron Mane to keep the Main Event position. Meanwhile, Lord Nexus was in a tough battle with Sectarian but starts in the Opening match spot.
Howard Berman: That is all for now. See you soon at the matches.

WWL Fall 2089
Week 1
Chicago Muscle @ Mexico City Fire
(O) Matter (C) beat Brute (MC) with Positive Charge. Time: 14:36. Fatigue: Matter-4, Brute-2. (MC) Actagon (MC) beat Massif (C) with Grecian Sleeper Grip. Time: 4:28. Fatigue: Massif-2. (ME) Bounty Hunter (C) beat Exo-King (MC) via count out. Time: 22:37. Fatigue: Bounty Hunter-4, Exo-King-3.
Winner: Chicago 2-1
Injuries: Matter has light injuries but is not expected to be hindered by them, Bounty Hunter was serious injuries and is questionable for next week
NOTES: Brute hit a full power slam as the first move in the Opening match and went for the pin. A bit later he came off the top rope in an impressive display of athleticism then followed up with an atomic skullcrusher before a second pin attempt. Matter made his first pin attempt late in the match. A bit later he hit Positive Charge and after Brute kicked out, he hit it again for the win. An impressive victory in his debut and he became the first of the Fall 89 draft class to secure a win. --- Massif broke out of Actagon's sleeper but Actagon applied it again right away and got the win. That evened things and gave Mexico City a chance. --- In the Main Event match, both men went for early pin attempts. Later King applied the Death Vise and almost got the submission win. He tried it again soon after but did not lock it in properly and Hunter escaped fairly easily. After some wild brawling, in and out of the ring, Hunter hit Ambush and almost got the pin. The new leeway with rules helped Hunter as he came close to being DQ'ed around mid-match and might have if this match was held last year. After a wild brawl on the floor that saw Hunter slam King on the ring steps, Hunter got in the ring before the ten count but King could not as he looked to be hurt. Luckly for him, Exo-King escaped with no injuries
New York Titans @ Los Angeles Stars
(O) Invincible Krakan (LA) beat Battering Ram (NY) with Falling Face Slam. Time: 9:21. Fatigue: Battering Ram-3. (MC) Splatter (LA) beat Spike (NY) with flying skullcrusher. Time: 9:02. Fatigue: Splatter-1. (ME) Galactic Punisher (NY) beat Bishop Hell (LA) with swift kick. Time: 16:30. Galactic Punisher-1, Bishop Hell-4.
Winner: Los Angeles 2-1
Injuries: Bishop Hell has mild injuries but should not miss any time.
NOTES: The home crowd was wild as they got to see LA raise the WWL Cup banner. --- Battering Ram started being more aggressive at the end of last season and it helped him get some wins. It did not help here. In fact, he almost got disqualified. But this year it is harder for that to happen. Krakan dominated and got the win. Battering Ram escaped with no injuries. --- New York needed a win to avoid starting the season with a loss for the second straight time. Spike, their second first round pick last season needed to show he was worth it. He hit a Super Destroyer about 7 minutes in but could not get the three count. Splatter got the pin and the win for LA. The crowd went nuts. --- Bishop Hell could have sat out and let the team substitute for him but like the last match of last season he chose to not do it. Just like that time it almost turned out bad. He lost and got injured but it does not look like it is too bad this time. He almost won early reversing a sunset flip attempt by Punisher. Then Punisher almost did the same. Punisher hit a Verdict two times but both times Hell kicked out with authority.
London Red Coats @ Barcelona Conquistadors
(O) Lord Nexus (B) beat Mesmer (L) with Boston crab. Time: 2:42. Fatigue: none. (MC) Iron Mane (B) beat Incredible Badger (L) with Lion's Play. Time: 8:40. Incredible Badger-3, Iron Mane-2. (ME) Star Warrior (L) beat Comrade Terror (B) with Nova Launch. Time: 26:41. Fatigue: Star Warrior-3, Comrade Terror-4.
Winner: Barcelona 2-1
Injuries: Incredible Badger has very serious injuries and is likely to miss time, Star Warrior has mild injuries but is expected to be fine, Comrade Terror has light injuries but looks to be fine.
NOTES: Mesmer started the Opening match by trying a leg takedown and failing. After that, it was all Lord Nexus. --- Incredible Badger and Iron Mane both hit their finisher but the other man kicked out. Mane went on to win his debut and secure the win for Barcelona. --- Star Warrior and Comrade Terror went out looking to win for pride. Warrior did not want the sweep, Terror did plus he wanted to beat the second overall pick from last season. Both men hit their finisher early in the match. Comrade Terror survived two Nova Launches. At the end Star Warrior hit reverse piledriver and followed up with his finisher. The match was a long, intense battle.
Highlight Match of the Week.
Frankfurt Knights @ Rome Empire
(O) Massacre (F) beat Mad Jester (R) with Massacre Slam. Time: 3:04. Fatigue: Mad Jester-2. (MC) Matador of M-83 (F) beat Tongsoon (R) with Bullwhip. Time: 2:34. Fatigue: none. (ME) Thantos (R) beat Wolf (F) with Masterlock. Time: 32:24. Fatigue: Wolf-3, Thantos-5.
Winner: Frankfurt 2-1.
Injuries: Thantos has mild injuries but should be fine
NOTES: Highlight Match due to the top pick making his debut. --- Massacre dominated Mad Jester to get his team off to a good start. --- The #1 pick made his debut and was incredible. He went against a very good Tongsoon and made quick work of him. He hit his finisher, made his first pin attempt and got the win. Win for him and for the team. The team with the best record overall last season beat the team with the best record in the European Conference last season. --- The main event was a long battle. Early in the match, Thantos missed a spear in the corner and ended up on the floor. He almost got counted out. The next several minutes was just back and forth. Neither man could string together more than a couple moves at a time. Wolf flew off the top rope and almost got the win. A bit later he brawled with Thantos on the floor and almost got DQ'd. Back in the ring Wolf was in the Masterlock but he finally reversed it to escape. Wolf went to the top turnbuckle again and came off with a leg drop. Thantos with a running clothesline and cover. Wolf kicked out and Thantos put him in the Masterlock again. Wolf tapped. He looked to be in pain but he ended up not being injured.
North American Conference Record (match results) Los Angeles Stars 1-0 (2-1) Chicago Muscle 1-0 (2-1) New York Titans 0-1 (1-2) Mexico City Fire 0-1 (1-2)
European Conference Barcelona Conquistadors 1-0 (2-1) Frankfurt Knights 1-0 (2-1) Rome Empire 0-1 (1-2) London Red Coats 0-1 (1-2)

NOTES: One of two matchups this week between teams trying to avoid starting 0-2. --- There was talk about the game that Rome might start Antimatter in place of Mad Jester. It seems a good thing they did not. --- Mesmer got a quick, maybe even upset, win. He hit a flying dropkick and covered for a two. Then he performed Blackout and got the win. --- Star Warrior and Thantos, the first two picks in WWL history went toe to toe trying to get that all important second win to claim the game. Warrior hit a Nova Launch around the 8 minute mark but could not get the pin. He did survive the Masterlock but still lost. He finds himself 0-3 against Thantos in their WWL careers. People are starting to say he can't beat Thantos.
Los Angeles Stars (1-0) @ Chicago Muscle (1-0)
(O) Invincible Krakan (LA) beat Matter (C) with Falling Face Slam. Time: 6:55. Fatigue: Matter-2. (MC) Splatter (LA) beat Massif (C) with Hatchet Job. Time: 6:02. Fatigue: Massif-2. (ME) Bounty Hunter (C) beat Bishop Hell (LA) with Ambush. Time: 2:50. Fatigue: Bishop Hell-2, Bounty Hunter-2.
Winner: Los Angeles 2-1
Injuries: None
NOTES: One of two matchups between undefeated teams this week. --- Krakan hit a flying headbutt to set up his finisher to get the win. He has been much better since moving to the Opening match and is an early favorite for Ignitor of the Year. --- Half way thru the Mid-Card, Massif hit a Massif Power Slam and almost got the W. Splatter fought back. He hit a Blood Bash and covered for two. Then he followed up with Hatchet Job and again a two count. Knowing he had Massif in trouble he performed his finisher a second time and got the victor. That gave LA the win. --- The Main Event saw the captains of their teams come down a bit hobbled. Hunter picked up a quick win. Possible due to his finisher but also it is possible Hell did not bother to kick out with LA's win in hand. --- The defending WWL Cup winners are looking good early in their bid to repeat.
Barcelona Conquistadors (1-0) @ Frankfurt Knights (1-0)
(O) Massacre (F) beat Lord Nexus (B) with Gladiator Piledriver. Time: 8:34. Fatigue: Lord Nexus-1, Massacre-1. (MC) Iron Mane (B) beat Matador of M-83 (F) with Final Pounce. Time: 9:45. Fatigue: Iron Mane-1, Matador-1. (ME) Wolf (F) beat Comrade Terror (B) with jump off the top rope. Time: 4:19. Fatigue: none.
Winner: Frankfurt 2-1
Injuries: None
NOTES: A surprising matchup between two undefeated teams that struggled last season. --- There was a section of the home crowd that held up "Wolf Pack" signs and howled and cheered for Wolf. --- Massacre hit a Decapitator and after Nexus kicked out, he followed up with the Gladiator Piledriver for the win to get Frankfurt off to a great start. --- The top two draft picks this season faced off in the Mid-Card match and the second pick, Iron Mane, got better of the top pick, Matador. A solid match between two men that will be linked to each other for a while. --- With the game knotted up, it came down to the Main Event. Wolf and Terror exchanged blows. Then Wolf went to the top rope and pounced on Terror. When Terror hit the mat, Wolf straddling his chest, his legs popped up and Wolf reached back to hook them. The ref counted three and Wolf might have got his biggest win of his WWL career. The home crowd went nuts. The team that finished Spring 89 with the worst record including only 1 win has started Fall 89 with a 2-0 record.
Highlight Match of the Week.
Mexico City Fire (0-1) @ New York Titans (0-1)
(O) Battering Ram (NY) over Brute (MC) via DQ. Time: 14:11. Fatigue: Brute-1, Battering Ram-3. (MC) Actagon (MC) beat Spike (NY) with Grecian Sleeper Grip. Time: 4:52. Fatigue: Actagon-1. (ME) Galactic Punisher (NY) beat Exo-King (MC) with Galactic Cannon. Time: 1:47. Fatigue: none.
Winner: New York 2-1
Injuries: None.
NOTES: The Highlight Matches of the Week, like this one, are decided when the schedule is created. That means before the season starts. Thus, we get this matchup of two 0-1 teams instead of one of the games between 1-0 teams. Of course, this is a big game because one of these teams will fall to 0-2. Neither wants that but it would be devastating for New York based on expectations going into last season. --- Brute got frustrated with not being able to put Battering Ram away in the Opening match. He finally snapped and used a chair to attack him on the floor. --- Spike seemed to be on the way to a win. He hit a Super Destroyer but Actagon kicked out at two. Spike followed up with a Gladiator Piledriver then tossed Actagon out of the ring. Spike went after him and during a wild brawl Actagon almost got DQ'd but he kept his composure. Back in the ring he quickly applied his Sleeper finisher and got the win. This was another disappointing loss for Spike and the New York fans let him know of their displeasure. There were a lot of hopes riding on Spike as New York made him their second first round pick in Spring 89. A pick they traded a bit to get. --- It came down to the Main Event. There was a lot of anticipation but the match was over lightning fast. King's second move was a flying knee drop but Punisher rolled out of the way. Punisher then hit the Galactic Cannon and rolled King up for the one, two, three. So far, the trade has not worked out for King and Mexico City. This week's loss is hard but more so since Wolf won his match to win Frankfurt's game.

WWL Fall 2089
Week 3
New York Titans (1-1) @ Chicago Muscle (1-1)
(O) Battering Ram (NY) beat Matter (C) via DQ. Time: 10:04. Fatigue: Matter-1. (MC) Spike (NY) beat Massif (C) with reversal of sunset flip attempt. Time: 13:15. Fatigue: Spike-2, Massif-3. (ME) Galactic Punisher (NY) beat Bounty Hunter (C) with Punisher Smash. Time: 8:22. Fatigue: Galactic Punisher-1, Bishop Hell-2.
Winner: New York 3-0
Injuries: None
NOTES: New York got the first sweep of the season. --- Matter was dominating in his match. He had a sequence at the end of the match where he blasted Ram with a forearm off the top rope, used a foreign object, hit a leg drop off the top rope and tossed Ram out of the ring. That is where things went south. He went to the floor and fought with Ram. He lost his cool and kicked Ram between the legs. --- Massif used a new move for him in first few minutes, a Scorpion Death Lock and almost got the submission. He followed up with a piledriver. Spike fought back with a spinesmasher. Then a Decapitator and close two count. Quickly another Decapitator and another two count. All of this in the first half of the match. When Spike finally got the win, it was his first one this season. A bit of a relief for him to finally do that.
Frankfurt Knights (2-0) @ London Red Coats (0-2)
(O) Massacre (F) beat Mesmer (L) with Decapitator. Time: 2:00. Fatigue-none. (MC) Matador of M-83 (F) beat Incredible Badger (L) with Bullwhip. Time: 1:44. Fatigue: Incredible Badger-3. (ME) Star Warrior (L) beat Wolf (F) with Nova Launch. Time: 8:06. Fatigue: Wolf-1, Star Warrior-1.
Winner: Frankfurt 2-1
Injuries: None
NOTES: Massacre made short work of Mesmer. (Snake eyes) It showed the kind of confidence Frankfurt has right now. They believe they can win. --- Badger was still injured. Feeling a need to get a win he gave it a go. He was hobbled and did not put up much of a fight. With Matador getting the win Frankfurt won the game and improved to 3-0. --- Star Warrior had only pride to fight for in the Main Event. He hit a Running Star Blast early and almost got the win. Later in the match he tossed Wolf out of the ring and they brawled for a while on the floor. Back in the ring Warrior hit his finisher and got the W.
Los Angeles Stars (2-0) @ Mexico City Fire (0-2)
(O) Invincible Krakan (LA) beat Count Necros (MC) with F5. Time: 1:50. Fatigue: Count Necros-1. (MC) Actagon (MC) beat Splatter (LA) via DQ. Time: 9:57. Fatigue: Splatter-2. (ME) Bishop Hell (LA) beat Exo-King (MC) with Hellfire. Time: 4:18. Fatigue: Exo-King-1.
Winner: Los Angeles 2-1
Injuries: None
NOTES: Los Angeles keeps rolling. --- Opening match saw Count Necros make his debut as Mexico City was trying to stop their losing skid. He rushed into the corner early in the match and Krakan moved. Krakan rolled him up but only got a two count. Then Krakan went to the top turnbuckle but Necros recovered and met him up there, tossing him into the ring. After hitting a dropkick Necros decided to try the top rope himself. He jumped off for a cross body but Krakan caught him, propped him on his shoulders and hit the F5. --- Splatter and Actagon had some good back-and-forth. Actagon tried his Grecian Sleep Grip but Splatter fought out of it. He tried it again right away and almost got the win that time. He tossed Splatter out of the ring then Splatter grabbed his legs and dragged him out to the floor. They brawl and Splatter wins. He rolls Actagon in the ring and tried a deathjump. He missed and Actagon tossed him out of the ring again. Again, they brawled on the floor. Splatter started choking Actagon and did not break before the five count. The ref ended the match. --- Bishop Hell shows up when he has too and this was one of those cases. With the game on the line, he took care of business. He hit King with Hellfire but only got a two. So, he hit it again and got the victory. Exo-King continues to be a disappointment.
Highlight Match of the Week.
Rome Empire (1-1) @ Barcelona Conquistadors (1-1)
(O) Lord Nexus (B) beat Mad Jester (R) when Jester crashed into the turnbuckle. Time: 3:48. Fatigue: Mad Jester-2. (MC) Iron Mane (B) beat Tongsoon (R) with Biting Roar. Time: 6:36. Fatigue: Tongsoon-1. (ME) Thantos (R) beat Comrade Terror (B) with Masterlock. Time: 8:15. Fatigue: none.
Winner: Barcelona 2-1
Injuries: None
NOTES: Lord Nexus went for a quick win with a karate chop and cover and a Titan Drop and cover in the first minute. It did not get him the win then but it had Jester in trouble. --- Iron Mane continued to impress and with his win Barcelona had the win. --- Thantos was not happy as he started the Main Event. He and Terror battled it out and there were no pin or submission attempts until the end when Thantos slapped the Masterlock on. --- At the post-game interview Thantos said he is tired of trying to carry the team on his back. Rome owners need to get him some help or he wants out.
