I don't often watch a pro wrestling show live. I missed a little bit but thought it might be fun to post a few of my thoughts along the way.
So, I missed the first couple matches I think. Caught the tail end of Hardys vs. Young Bucks.
Jade Cargill vs. Anna Jay - Not a good match and a TERRIBLE ending. Jade needs to stop doing her finisher off the top. She can't make it look remotely believable.
House of Black vs. Penta, Fenix, Pac - Some decent parts to the match. WAY too many bad looking kicks. Entertaining enough match that really just made me want to see Pac vs. Buddy Matthews in a solo match.
Adam Cole vs. Samoa Joe - Not a great match but not terrible. They just didn't seem to click well. The ending was friggin' awful though. Adam Cole's various kicks just look absolutely terrible. They just have zero impact to anything, including that boom move he does where he lowers his kneepad, runs toward a kneeling opponent and then gently places his leg across the upper back of his opponent. And he set that up with a few superkicks that he made abundantly clear were not connecting at all. He's just a terrible wrestler.
Britt Baker vs. Ruby Soho - Solid match. No complaints at all. Ruby's dropkick off the apron got an audible pop out of me as I sit here watching alone. lol
Sammy Guevara, Frankie Kazarian & Tay Conti vs. Ethan Page, Scorpio Sky & PVZ - Sort of a silly filler match. Not overly offensive.
Darby Allin vs. Kyle O'Reilly - Best match I've seen so far this show. Darby sells like crazy but makes it look realistic. He also does a great job of continuing to sell an injury. Like, he kept shaking the cobwebs off after his botched dive and the dive into guillotine choke spot, which was pretty amazing as well. Kyle O'Reilly could give Adam Cole lessons on making strikes look realistic. This one fully entertained me.
Thunder Rosa vs. Serena Deeb - Solid match. I liked their little back and forth arm twists spot. Basically a story of Deeb's techique vs. Rosa's aggression.
Anarchy in the Arena - Oof... Disclaimer: I'm rarely into a match like this anyway... But this was WAY too long for a cluster like this. A couple spots I liked. Daniel Garcia vs. Eddie Kingston felt like two dudes actually fighting (mostly). Garcia dragging Kingston with his belt was pretty awesome. Then Kingston zombie walking with the gas can was a good little scene. You could have cut 10 minutes from that match and it still might have felt long.
Tag Titles - I feel like it's time for Luchasaurus and Jungleboy to lose the titles but not to either of these teams. Decently fun match but I'm ready for this PPV to be done. The whole shebang has been going on for too long.
Page vs. Punk - I'm super tired of Page as champ. He just doesn't have the personality for this role in the company. Punk probably shouldn't be the guy to dethrone him but I'd take it. Another decent match. Definitely some missed spots or miscommunication or whatever you want to call it. Nothing special or overly memorable but an acceptable match for a weekly wrestling show... Not PPV main event caliber but very little of this event has felt like it was worthy of being a part of a near 5 hour PPV.
Feel free to share your thoughts below.
