CENTENNIAL PRO WRESTLING PRO WRESTLING WEEKEND EPISODE 42 CITY AUDITORIUM COLORADO SPRINGS, CO 04-22-23 – 04-23-23
(Play-by-play announcer Mars Leseveren welcomes the fans to Pro Wrestling Weekend and announces teams are coming out of the woodwork to participate in the tournament at Three's A Crowd. He runs down today's program including Curt & Larry Hennig being in action and the feature match, a CPW Women's Title match.)
Chaz Taylor vs. Marty Jannetty Taylor came out fast and caught Jannetty flat-footed. Taylor held the advantage for quite some time before Jannetty turned the tables. Jannetty controlled the match from there and put Taylor away with a ROCKER DROPPER.
Post match: Jannetty helped Taylor to his feet and patted him on the back before both men left the ring together.
INTERVIEW: Lola Patterson interviews CPW Jr. Heavyweight Champion Colt Cabana Patterson announces that Cabana will defend his title against former champion Danny Hodge then asks Cabana if he's ready for the challenge. Cabana points out that he beat Joe Blanchard for the title and Joe Blanchard beat Hodge, so it stands to reason that Cabana should beat Hodge. Cabana then questions how Hodge got a title shot so quickly anyway. He surmises that Hodge must have slicked some palms or even worse, but says he won't go in to that right now as he has to go continue training for next week's title defense.
(Leseveren welcomes the fans back to the program then ponders how neither of the two teams in the next match will be participating in the tournament at Three's A Crowd.)
Curt & Larry 'The Axe' Hennig vs. Project X (Mr. X & Dr. X) This match was a wild brawl from the opening bell and it didn't take long for the match to break down. The action spilled out of the ring where Curt and Dr. X brawled until the ref disqualified both men.
INTERVIEW: Lola Patterson interviews Blackjack Mulligan & Sean Casey Patterson announces Mulligan and Casey will be joined by Chaz Taylor as the trio of Texans will compete in the tournament at Three's A Crowd. Mulligan says that Texas boys need to stick together and that's exactly what they are gonna do. Casey interjects that their Texas connection is what's going to work as a fluid team and win the Three's A Crowd tournament.
(Leseveren welcomes the fans back to the program and shows footage of last week's program in order to remind everyone of the attack by the Irwins on Von Raschke after Von Raschke's successful TV Title defense. Leseveren says Von Raschke and The Crusher are surely looking for revenge in the next match.)
Baron Von Raschke & The Crusher vs. Long Riders (‘Wild’ Bill & Scott ‘Hog’ Irwin) This was a wild back and forth match as the action took place inside and outside the ring. Both teams executed multiple tags as they continued to brawl. The action spilled out of the ring, where Crusher was disqualified after he slammed Scott through a ringside table.
INTERVIEW: Lola Patterson interviews Stan Hansen Patterson asks Hansen about Bruiser Brody's loss last week and Brody's ultimate departure from CPW. Hansen states they had a good run and he's sure they'll catch up with each other down the road, but right now Hansen is looking to accomplish some things on his own. Suddenly, Johnny Mantel comes up into view. Patterson questions Mantell why he's there. Mantell responds by approaching Hansen and asking him if he'd be interested in competing in the Three's A Crowd tournament. It seemed to raise Hansen's ire just a bit as he snapped back that he just said he was going out on his own. Mantell then offers Hansen $1,000 to be his partner. Hansen says his price is a lot higher than that. Mantell counters by saying whatever the price is, he'll pay it. Hansen puts his arm around Mantell and says now we're talking and ushers him off screen.
(Leseveren welcomes the fans back from the break and announces it's time for our feature contest)
CPW WOMEN’S TITLE MATCH Melina vs. CPW Women’s Champion Mercedes Martinez Melina gained several early near falls and was extremely frustrated she wasn't able to put Martinez away. Martinez battled back and gained a couple of near falls herself. The action spilled out of the ring, where Martinez grabbed a chair. The ref tried to stop her from using it, but Martinez shoved him out of the way and blasted Melina. The ref immediately called for the disqualification.
(Leseveren comments on how things really escalated quickly and got out of hand before thanking the fans for watching and inviting them to tune in next time.)

Patterson then asks Baker about teaming with the Long Riders at Three’s a Crowd. Baker responds by saying he thinks he fits in pretty well alongside a couple of rough and tumblers like the Irwins and their trio has as good as chance as any to win the tournament.
(Leseveren welcomes the fans back to the program and comments on Ox Baker’s warning to one Larry Zbyszko. Leseveren says both men will be at Three’s a Crowd and could be when they next encounter each other. He adds it also could be during our next match as Zbyszko is in action.)

INTERVIEW: Lola Patterson interviews CPW Tag Team Champions Ted DiBiase & Steve ‘Dr. Death’ Williams Patterson asks the champs about teaming with CPW Heavyweight Champion Big Van Vader at Three's A Crowd. Williams says he's actually teamed with Vader before in Japan and knows full well what he brings to their team. (Leseveren welcomes the fans back from the break and comments on how Johnny Mantell's cousin 'Dirty' Dutch will be joining him at ringside for this match.)
Don Leo Jonathan vs. Johnny Mantell w/ 'Dirty' Dutch Mantell Jonathan opened the match by planting Johnny with a side slam off the ropes. Jonathan looked to put the match away early with a high risk move from the top rope. 'Dirty' Dutch proved what a dirty player he is when he shoved Jonathan off the top rope, but instead of landing in the ring, Jonathan landed in a heap on the floor at ringside. Jonathan was in a real bad way and Johnny took advantage of his fortune, pounding Jonathan nearly into submission. The official finally declared Jonathan could not defend himself and ended the match.
INTERVIEW: Lola Patterson interviews CPW Women's Champion Mercedes Martinez Patterson comments on how Melina gave her everything she could handle and Melina should receive another shot at the title. Martinez says the rematch has already been signed for Three's A Crowd and the outcome will be much, much different.
(Leseveren says he agrees with Lola Patterson and Melina deserves a rematch considering the way the last match ended. He reiterates she's now got it at Three's A Crowd.)
Melina vs. Susan Green Green gave Melina all she could handle, gaining two early near falls, and if that wasn't enough Mercedes Martinez came to ringside and distracted Melina. It proved to be too much for Melina and Green got the victory with a TEXAS BULLDOG.

(Leseveren welcomes the fans back to the program and announces that it's time for the feature contest.)

Hodge recovered first and got the pin with an OKLAHOMA SIDE ROLL to win the title.
(Leseveren congratulates Hodge on regaining the CPW Jr. Heavyweight Title and comments on what a valiant effort Cabana made. Leseveren closed the program by thanking the fans for tuning in and inviting them to tune in next time.)

Baron Von Raschke, ‘Sodbuster’ Kenny Jay & The Crusher vs. Ox Baker & Long Riders (‘Wild’ Bill & Scott ‘Hog’ Irwin) The Long Riders isolated Crusher initially, but Crusher tagged in Jay. Scott overwhelmed Jay and pinned him after a SUPERPLEX in what turned into a fairly quick opening contest.
Konnan, Juventud Guerrera & Super Crazy vs. Larry Zbyszko & Original Midnight Express (Dennis Condrey & Randy Rose) w/ Dark Menace The action was fast and furious in the beginning with both teams executing multiple tags. As the match settled in, Crazy got isolated in his opponents' corner, where they worked him over until Rose made the pin following a DOUBLE CLOTHESLINE.
CPW Heavyweight Champion Big Van Vader & CPW Tag Team Champions Ted DiBiase & Steve ‘Dr. Death’ Williams vs. Angelo Mosca & Love Brothers (‘Horrible’ Hartford & ‘Rotten’ Reginald) DiBiase suffered a beat down early in the match as opponents cut off the ring and executed multiple tags, inflicting quite a bit of damage. DiBiase ultimately tagged in Williams and the complexion of the match changed drastically. Williams and Vader exchanged tags while DiBiase recovered. The end came when Williams and DiBiase delivered a double football tackle to Reginald and Williams made the pin.
Post match: All three champions celebrated their victory when Mosca attacked Vader from behind with a chain. The Love Brothers brawled with DiBiase and Williams as Mosca lashed Vader with the chain before wrapping it around his neck. Mosca attempted to drag Vader around the ring by the chain. As DiBiase and Williams brawled to the back with the Love Brothers, Don Leo Jonathan hit the ring and nailed Mosca. Mosca bailed out of the ring as Jonathan aided Vader in removing the chain. Vader was having difficulty breathing as he was tended to by medical staff and helped to the back.
Blackjack Mulligan, Scott Casey & Chaz Taylor vs. Stan Hansen & Dirty Desperados (Dutch & Johnny Mantell) Hansen and Mulligan started the match and the action almost immediately ended up outside the ring. Both men brawled and when the action returned to the ring, Hansen blasted Mulligan with a LARIAT and made the pin before anyone knew what happened.
Post match: Johnny Mantell blasted Blackjack Mulligan in the back of the head with the bell on Hansen's bull rope. Johnny and Dutch Mantell then briefly put the boots to Mulligan before Scott Casey and Chaz Taylor ran them off. Hansen looked irritated as he snatched his bull rope from Johnny and stormed to the back, quickly followed by the Mantells.
CPW WOMEN’S TITLE MATCH Melina vs. CPW Women’s Champion Mercedes Martinez This match started out fast and maintained the pace throughout. Both ladies brawled back and forth, exchanging several high impact moves. Melina proved her mettle time and again throughout the match as she managed to survive two FISHERMAN'S BUSTERS. Melina battled back one final time, but Martinez had just a little more left in the tank and delivered one final FISHERMAN'S BUSTER to end the match.
Ox Baker & Long Riders (‘Wild’ Bill & Scott ‘Hog’ Irwin) vs. Larry Zbyszko & Original Midnight Express (Dennis Condrey & Randy Rose) w/ Dark Menace Zbyszko starts complaining about Baker to the official even before the match started. It looked like Baker and Zybszko were going to start out the match, much to the delight of the crowd, but Zbyszko tagged out before even locking up. Condrey ultimately started out against Baker. The action went back and forth as both teams executed multiple tags. Zbyszko eventually tagged in, but only when Baker wasn't the legal man. Zbyszko then isolated Scott in his corner and removed the turnbuckle pad. Zbyszko smashed Scott's head into the exposed turnbuckle then tossed Scott out of the ring, where Zbyszko slammed him through a table. The action returned to the ring, where Zbyszko whipped Scott into the exposed turnbuckle then locked in a Boston Crab. Scott didn't last long before submitting as Condry & Rose cut off Bill and Baker from making the save.
Don Leo Jonathan & CPW Tag Team Champions Ted DiBiase & Steve ‘Dr. Death’ Williams vs. Stan Hansen & Dirty Desperados (Dutch & Johnny Mantell) It was announced prior to the match that Don Leo Jonathan would replace Big Van Vader due to the injuries Vader suffered from the attack by Angelo Mosca earlier in the event. Hansen still seemed to be in a salty mood as he admonished the Mantells about touching his bull rope. Then there was a heated discussion about who was going to start the match. Hansen started the match and things didn't go well. The tag champs used multiple tags to keep Hansen off balance then tagged Jonathan to inflict some high impact damage. Hansen refused to tag either of his partners, who grew increasingly displeased. It came to a point where both Mantells attempted to tag themselves in to no avail. Ultimately, Dutch gave up and returned to the back, leaving his cousin to fend for himself. While Johnny pleaded with Dutch to return, Williams pinned Hansen following a press slam.
Post match: Hansen was irate as he saw Johnny in the aisle. Hansen grabbed his bull rope from the corner and chased Johnny all the way to the back. CPW JR. HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE MATCH Colt Cabana vs. CPW Jr. Heavyweight Champion Danny Hodge Cabana proved he was up for the return match, even though Hodge started fast. Hodge missed a turnbuckle charge and Cabana went to work, trying to wear Hodge down and gaining multiple near falls. Hodge absorbed all the punishment Cabana dealt out before staging a comeback. Cabana attempted to counter Hodge's attack, but fell short and Hodge pinned Cabana with an OKLAHOMA SIDE ROLL.
Larry Zbyszko & Original Midnight Express (Dennis Condrey & Randy Rose) w/ Dark Menace vs. Don Leo Jonathan & CPW Tag Team Champions Ted DiBiase & Steve ‘Dr. Death’ Williams Zbyszko started out fast against Jonathan before Jonathan's power overwhelmed Zbsyzko. Londos responds by saying how happy he is to be competing in CPW and representing his home of Greece. He also comments on how happy he is to have his fellow countryman, George Tragos, in the territory as well. Londos closes by commenting on Hodge’s strength and wrestling skill, and how he just hopes his (Londos’) performance is up to that to challenge Hodge.
(Leseveren welcomes the fans back to the program and mentions CPW Women’s Champion Mercedes Martinez meeting a familiar foe at CPW vs. The World in Iveliesse, as Iveliesse attempts to regain the title.)
CPW Women’s Champion Mercedes Martinez vs. Michelle Jackson Martinez made quick work of Jackson and pinned her with a power slam.
INTERVIEW: Lola Patterson interviews Larry Zbyszko w/ Dark Menace The Dark Menace snatches the microphone from Patterson before she can even ask her first question. Menace states that his man has been ducked by the CPW Heavyweight Champion long enough, that Larry Zbyszko is the true number one contender and demands a shot at whomever wins that title match at CPW vs. The World. Zbyszko comments that he doesn’t sweat current CPW Heavyweight Champion Big Van Vader or the challenger Angelo Mosca, and believes that in a fair contest, he could beat either man. Suddenly, Ox Baker comes into view and Zbyszko takes a couple of steps back, dropping the mic and nearly stumbling over Menace. Baker picks up the mic and tells Zbyszko that if he wants that shot at the title then he is going to have to wrestle someone of substance, someone who is also deserving of a title shot, and that someone is him, Ox Baker. Zbyszko and Menace beg off, saying that is not the case as the program goes to break.
(Leseveren welcomes the fans back to the program and announces that the match that was discussed before the break has been signed and will be one of the featured contests next week, but right now it’s time for this week’s featured contest as CPW TV Champion Baron Von Raschke prepares for his next title defense.)
CPW TV TITLE MATCH Dick Hutton vs. CPW TV Champion Baron Von Raschke This was a hard-hitting back and forth brawl. Hutton gained an early near fall, but Von Raschke endured and absorbed a lot of punishment. The action spilled out of the ring, where Von Raschke tossed Hutton through a table and the ref disqualified the champ.
Post match: Hutton took exception to being thrown through a table and attacked Von Raschke. Hutton was joined from the back by a man with a moustache, sporting military fatigues and the two laid quite the beat down on Von Raschke. Medical personnel was called for as the program went off the air.

Curt & Larry 'The Axe' Hennig vs. Fabulous Kangaroos (Al Costello & Roy Heffernan) w/ ‘Wild’ Red Berry The Roos were no strangers to the CPW audience, but they had still been away for a spell. CPW WOMEN'S TITLE MATCH Iveliesse vs. CPW Women's Champion Mercedes Martinez The bad blood showed as Martinez and Iveliesse exchanged harsh words as the match began. The action continued back and forth until Martinez hit the move she had prepared for the whole match, the FISHERMAN’S SUPLEX, and gained the hard-fought victory.

CPW HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE CHAIN MATCH Angelo Mosca vs. CPW Heavyweight Champion Big Van Vader It was announced before the match that the stipulation in this match will require both men to be attached to opposite ends of a steel chain and the match can only be won by pinfall or submission. The fury of Vader was not to be denied and he dominated the match from the opening bell. Vader abused Mosca inside and outside the ring, whipping him with the chain and delivering a vicious chain-assisted neckbreaker on the floor outside the ring. When Vader determined he’d dished out enough punishment he delivered a RELEASED POWER BOMB to properly dispose of Mosca’s title aspirations.
