AWA All Star Wrestling - Card 7
The show opened as The Vachons made their way to ringside to be interviewed.
Interview: The Vachons came out to open the show, promising to beat Bockwinkel & Stevens and become the first AWA World Tag Team Champions. As Mad Dog put it, “These so called tough guys aren't so tough. Dey are... how you say? Yes... soft. We can beat them in any kind of match. Two out of three falls? Good! They will get beat three times as bad.” Both Vachon brothers were all business as they walked away.
In the opening match, Dutch Savage defeated Manny Fernandez when Savage delivered his RUNNING PILEDRIVER finisher. The is a quick match, with little to no offense from Fernandez.
Ricky Morton defeated Curt Hennig with an inside cradle and pin after a Hennig missed top rope cross body block. The risky move backfired on Hennig. This was a solid match from start to finish.
The Crusher defeated Harley Race when he delivered the CRUSHER NELSON to Race. After the match, Baron von Raschke hit the ring and he and The Crusher took turns pummeling Race until he was a bloody mess. After order was restored, von Raschke was suspended for 8 cards by AWA officials at ringside! Race stubbornly walked to the back, refusing any help from AWA officials.
After the commercial break, Nick Bockwinkel & Ray Stevens were in the ring with a mic...
Interview: Nick Bockwinel calmly stated “We have a date with destiny. One week from now, Ray and I will be your new AWA Tag Team Champions. All we have to do is beat a pair of ignorant, uneducated Canadians. Well, that's the easy part. The hard part is getting them back into Canada... smelling like they do.” Bockwinkel dropped the mic and the pair laughed as they walked arrogantly to the back.
Bob Backlund defeated King Kong Brody after Brody was disqualified for hitting Backlund with a steel chair outside the ring. Backlund was dominating the match until Brody picked up the chair and hammered Bob with it.
In the Main Event, Stan Hansen defeated Larry Zbyszko after Hansen hit a crushing LARIAT on Zbyszko. Zbyszko never got any offense in this match as it was all Hansen from the opening bell. Hansen swung his cowbell and celebrated over the prone Zbyszko. First loss for Zbyszko.
Next week.... the AWA World Tag Team Titles will be decided as The Vachons take on Bockwinkel &Stevens, two out of three falls and no DQ! Who will win? Tune in next week and find out! Good night fans...

AWA All Star Wrestling - Card 8
The show opened with the announcers talking up the AWA World Tag Team Title match between The Vachons and Bockwinkel & Stvens. “There is no love lost between these two teams. This will be a war tonight.”
Manny Fernandez defeated Ivan Koloff after delivering a scoop slam and quick pin. Fernandez dominated this match and punished the veteran Russian wrestler. Koloff kicked out of three pin attempts, but he could not withstand the beating Fernandez gave him. Fernandez is quickly becoming a fan favorite.
Adrian Adonis defeated Stan Lane after delivering his GOOSNIGHT IRENE finisher. Adonis quickly made his presence felt, after missing five weeks due to injury, by attacking Lane as the bell sounded. Adonis never let up and disposed of Stan Lane quickly. Adonis grabbed the mic and cut a heelish promo, calling the fans “... idiotic morons. You all cheer him when he can't even lace my boots. You all make me sick!” Adonis strolled to the back to a chorus of boos.
Larry Zbyszko defeated Curt Hennig with his PILEDRIVER finisher. This was a solid match for both and was even, until they both took the fight outside the ring. Zbyszko delivered a body slam to Hennig on the concrete floor (after a thumb to Hennig's eye), rolled him back in the ring and delivered his finisher for the win. Zbyszko laughed to himself as he left the ring area.
In the Main Event, Nick Bockwinkel & Ray Stevens defeated The Vachons to become the first ever AWA World Tag Team Champions! In this no DQ, two out of three falls title match, Butcher Vachon got isolated earny and couldn't tag out. Nick Bockwinkel took advantage, wore him down and put him to sleep with the BOCKWINKEL SLEEPER. In the second fall, The Vachons evened the score when MAD Dog Vachon delivered a noggin knocker to both Bockwinkel & Stevens during a pin save attempt. As Stevens went down hard, Butcher covered him to get the 1, 2...3! In the deciding fall, Bockwinkel & Stevens punnished Mad Dog Vachon. With only moments to go in the 60 minute time limit, Bockwinkel applied an abdominal stretch. With the move locked in and Vachon fading, all he could do was tap out. As the confetti rained down, Bockwinkel & Stevens celebrated over the fallen Vachons. Jeers and boos cascaded down as the new champs made their way to the back.
What a night!

AWA All Star Wrestling - Card 9
The night starts off with an interview of the newest wrestler in the AWA, Jimmy Snuka. “I am so happy to be here in the AWA. Brothet, I am ready to show the great fans in the midwest what I can do. So tonight, Mr Bockwinkel, you better be ready.”
The Flying Redheads defeated Buddy Rose & Doug Somers as Billy Red Lyons made Doug Somers submit with his FIGURE FOUR LEGLOCK. In what was a textbook tag match, the Readheads used quick tags to keep Rose & Somers off balance. The Redheads lookd good in this solid win.
Bob Backlund defeated Mad Dog Vachon with his finisher, the ATOMIC DROP and pin. Vachon looked frustrated as Backlund repeatedly reversed every hold Vachon tried. Late in the match, Vachon attempted a top rope knee drop, which he missed. Backlund was then able to hit his finisher and get the win. Vachon kicked the bottom rope in disgust at the missed opportunity.
In a minor upset, Curt Hennig defeated Stan Hansen with his HENNIG PLEX. This was an even match until Hennig was whipped into the turnbuckle. Hennig then surprised Hansen with a lariat. Hennig then muscled Hansen up and delivered a perfect finisher! Great win for the young second generation wrestler.
The Crusher defeated Larry Zbyszko with his finisher, the CRUSHER NELSON. Zbyszko was never in this match as The Crusher took over from the opening bell and battered Zbyszko. Once The Crusher locked in his full nelson finisher, Zbyszko quickly tapper out. The Crusher advances!
In the Main Event, Jimmy Snuka defeated Nick Bockwinkel with his SUPERFLY LEAP. Bockwinkel opened the match with stalling tactics, but Snuka was unfazed. As the match finally got started, Snuka quickly took control. Bockwinkel tried every dirty trick he knew, but Snuka countered them all. Snuka then hit Bockwinkel with an arsenal of high impact moves before he hit his top rope finisher for the 1, 2... 3! Bockwinkel sat in the corner dejected as Snuka celebrated with the fans at ringside.

I have to pick Backlund for the first AWA champ. I'm kinda leaning that way too. Funny how this game works. You book a card with a possible outcomes in mind and the dice have a way of messing all your plans up. Would have never guessed all 4 "faces" would beat all 4 "heels". Fun stuff.

AWA All Star Wrestling - Card 10
As the show began, Stan Lane made his way to the announce table. He called out Adrian Adonis... “So I can't lace your boots? Get out here big boy and we'll see about that!” Lane slid in the ring to cheers from the female fans.
Adrian Adonis defeated Stan Lane via disqualification. Lane dominated the early going with quick, power moves. After Adonis kicked out of his fourth pin attempt, Adonis began stalling and leaving the ring. Lane, now frustrated at the slower pace of the match, used a steel chair on Adonis and earned the DQ. Seems like this feud is heating up.
The Rock 'n Roll Express defeated The Long Riders with their DOUBLE DROPKICK. This match was all Rock 'n Roll Express... to the delight of their fans. Robert Gibson got the pin on Bill Irwin.
The Grappler defeated Ray Stevens by disqualification. Stevens, who was angry at being left out of the heavyweight title tournament, assaulted The Grappler from the opening bell. Stevens then tossed The Grappler out of the ring and delivered a piledriver onto the concrete floor! The ref called for the DQ as an enraged Stevens left the ring area.
In an upset, Curt Hennig defeated The Crusher with his HENNIG PLEX. In a classic match, Hennig hit a perfect standing dropkick, a rolling neck snap followed by his finisher to secure his spot in the finals. The Crusher shook Hennig's hand after this incredible match. This was a 5-star match!
In the Main Event, Bob Backlund defeated Jimmy Snuka with his CROSSFACE CHICKENWING. This match was all Backlund, who looks in top form. Snuka couldn't muster any offense in this one-sided matchup.
So, two weeks from now, Curt Hennig will meet Bob Backlund for the AWA World Heavyweight Title. Tickets go on sale tomorrow. Don't you date miss it!
