I was a member of TASK at one point. Fond memories.
As for Sectarian, I actually brought him back to team with Mandrill for awhile. They did pretty well as a team, and were strong against Wraith and Vertigo.

Didn't Sectarian's bio when he debuted say he was the caretaker of The Beast Rider's zoo? I want to say something about his animal side being "in tune with the others specimen in the zoo".
And for some reason, I associated "caretaker" with "secretary" and that's why his name was Sectarian...
We used to joke about some jobs in the Air Force that if you gave a monkey enough bananas the monkey could do the job to standards. Well, I always joked in my head that The Beast Rider obviviously only gave Sectarian enough bananas to be a caretaker...barely...definitely not enough to be a competent GWF wrestler.

IIRC, in Tom's book he said that he told Chuck Carter to draw him a Planet Of The Apes character and expected a Cesar-type character (Cesar is the main character in POTA for those not in the know). What he got was a joke dressed in a t-shirt. I love me some Chuck Carter art but this was a huge miss. That's why he was written out so quickly. It's a shame because I loved the name Sectarian much more than Mandrill (seriously, how many COTG character names start with "M"? Enough already! LOL).

Indeed Adam Smasher and friends. Oh yeah, I still remember those days. I was just a young upstart back then. I think this was the bridge between my Ultraviolent and Big Time years, before I was gifted being Vidtek (which is still awesome). Ah, memories... I still think with some retooling Sectarian could have been a bigger deal than he was. He didn't set my fed on fire, but was always a solid midcard guy, even pulled out some upsets and had a run with the IP title. Honestly, he gets a bad rep, but I kinda liked him. Would have made a great tag partner for Gila! Plus the Throwing Toasters song is fun. |
