I definitely remember some noise on that subject towards the end of the black and white LOW sets. Definitely some hand-wringing over getting a 6-card set when one of those was Lord Zoltan. You mean the ominously titled Final Chapter? I was one of those wringing his hands. I recall it shrank from 10 to 8 to 6 cards with zero explanation offered. It truly seemed like the end of the line. But rebirth was just around the corner. So I wouldn't abandon hope but I can relate to the sentiments expressed in this thread. I think that each of our product lines have a had a “moment” (or two) where Promotors were concerned about its future. For Indies, it was when we moved away from promotion-specific sets (I remember more than one person expressing concern that our relationships were drying up). For Legends, it was the 6-card Final Chapter black and white set followed up by a color Introductory set with no new names (the prevailing concern was that we ran out of people to sign and would just get all redos). For COTG, “The End” storyline is probably the best example of hand-wringing (the storyline title certainly made that understandable). I would argue that each time this happened, the product line improved instead of declining. The truth is that I don’t believe that there has ever been a better time to be a Filsinger Games Promoter. For a few years now, we have been releasing more content than ever before in the history of FG. We’ve been doing 4 product releases per year per product line, plus Promoter Prime. The entire Federation HQ team does a remarkable job consistently putting out quality stuff. I appreciate that COTG fans may have been disappointed that there was no new major game edition for this month, just like I know that certain Legends fans were disappointed that we didn’t have a Legends release in the fall. It speaks to the passion of our community and I wouldn’t want it any other way. I spent 25 years as a game fan before getting involved on the production side, so I can relate to how everyone feels. Rest assured that we have big plans for all three product lines next year. I’ll do my best to make sure that each product line can order something for Christmas next year. |

For the record, I never asked for a complete game 'edition' for Christmas. I just said it was the first time ever there was no COTG release of any kind for CHRISTMAS i.e. SANTA WOLF. I would have been satisfied with a four pack or even a single card.
Rob and Mike did give us THANTOS, and that's a big deal with how Tom felt on the matter.

Others like Swarm or Mike M can answer this 'officially', but from what I understand Tom liked BANK$ younger looking Thantos best (why he included him in the BEST OF set and not Carter's iconic Thantos) and really didn't want ANOTHER older Thantos. |
