Tiny piece of post-it note and you’re playin' by the book! But at the end of the day, play how you wanna play! IUTUP!

Really great conversation here, and some nice solutions, too. Appreciate the input from everyone.
I’ll just add that I’d rather have a new playing card than instructions on stat changes in the book. You can further a character with new art even if the stat changes are minor. It’s not the customer’s responsibility to help the company save a few bucks by working with stat changes in the handbook. If you’re going to write changes to a character, then go all the way through with it and give him (or her) a new card, too.
And if there is a situation where you don’t want a guy beating your new characters then make the new cards stronger.
I definitely don’t want to get into a situation where I’m forced to edit my own cards with post it notes (very clever, though). I guess what I’m saying is I don’t want to see it become the norm.

I play online so this doesn't really apply to me necessarily but, I'd rather have the smaller changes to card than have the huge down grade where the card goes from beating everyone to struggling against mid careers.
And respectful I am against just making the new main events stronger than the older ones because power creep can quickly become a problem. Some people think it already is.

Every set, the discussion of power creep comes up. You talk to fans and a lot of them will tell you that happened way back in 2092/2093 w Chaos, Alpha Force and their monster finishers. Having guys like Endgame, Monolith, Shayne and a few others dominate the GWF belt for ten game years or so is more evidence it has existed for a long time.

In my opinion, you should have had a third choice in the poll. One for "meh". I am neither for or against it. I have pretty much always looked at the rules as a guideline but not set in stone. I am going to do what I want. I respect the rules and those that follow them to the T but it is not for me. Heck, I adjust stats on the cards myself sometimes. That being said, I am not a big fan of things being in the handbook that are needed to play. About one of the few things I use is the Basilisk chart for early advantage. I too do not want to have to keep looking at books for things just so I can play the game. It is why I wish the COTG Wiki was up to date, at least as far as finishers for wrestlers. Sometimes I forget what a move is and mostly I need to know if it leads to a pin or a submission. I'm in the "I don't want to have to carry the handbook around if I don't have to" camp. I haven't played COTG in years but I didn't like Max Shield getting downgraded in the handbook whatever year that was. On a related note, I didn't like Tiger Mask's out of the ring chart being in the Legends handbook either.

I understand not wanting to have to take the hand book out just to use an updated card with minor changes.
Maybe fed HQ could consider putting out special editions for those updated cards like back in the day. That way if people want to use it they can but they don't have to.

As the handbook is already included as a pdf, maybe a printer-friendly page where new card stats can be printed as a "new" card fascimile.
Sort of like the setup in the link

I don’t use handbook stat changes and rarely use handbook matches. Once I read the handbooks, they usually get stored. I have a ton of FG stuff and am just too lazy to dig through it all if I want to play with certain cards.

For similar reasons, I caught myself using the Basilisk this year and forgetting to use his chart on the back of the handbook. 😐

Sort of like the setup in the linkThis is nice. Plastic Sleeves FTW! Two cards in a plastic sleeve and you have the art you want and the stats you prefer. See: George The Animal Steele.
