LEGENDS OF WRESTLING CARD #1 - FEBRUARY 4, 2023
TONY ATLAS vs. RICK RUDE
The show started off hot with a match between Rude and Atlas. It was a back and forth struggle that eventually saw Atlas get bloodied somehow. Neither man could seem to hold an advantage over the other and it ended in a ten-minute time limit draw. This match-up will no doubt be revisited. ***
Next up, we had bonus video from Battle For The Belts I.
First, we saw footage from the men's battle royal and specifically the moment that Dusty Rhodes eliminated Magnum TA by accident. Dusty was clearly upset that he had eliminated his friend but Buddy Rogers took the moment for weakness and Dusty could only defend himself by eliminating Rogers and move on in the match.
Then we saw Dusty attempting to apologize to TA in the locker room. TA snapped on Dusty and screamed, "It's all about you, isn't it?" before walking away.
THE ROCK 'N ROLL EXPRESS vs. THE HEAVENLY BODIES
Another ten-minute time limit draw between these two teams. The fans were very upset about getting another draw on the night. Robert Gibson was bleeding profusely by the end of the match. ***
NICK BOCKWINKEL INTERVIEW
More bonus footage from Battle For The Belts I. Bockwinkel was interviewed by Lance Russell in the locker room. Russell asked about how everyone seemed to want a piece of Bockwinkel in the battle royal. Bockwinkel said that while it didn't feel good being targeted and taking the punishment, it comes with his pedigree. "When you are the best in the world, Lance, it's to be expected." Lance asks a few more questions and then Bockwinkel says that everyone should rest assured that he will be a thorn in the side of the champion, whomever it may be, as long as it takes.
HULK HOGAN vs. GREG VALENTINE
As with the other matches on the card, this was a back and forth battle. Hogan would have the advantage and then Valentine would do something that would swing the pendulum back in his favor. Eventually, the two men battled to the outside and Valentine hit Hogan with a chair out of frustration, earning the DQ. **
BIG VAN VADER ANNOUNCES HIS NEW MANAGER
Vader came out before his match with Harley Race and announced that he has a manager now. Bobby Heenan came out and declared that Vader was both a legend and the future of wrestling. "Then again," Heenan said, "with this man as champion, there's not a whole lot of future left for anyone else."
FOR THE LOW WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE
HARLEY RACE vs. BIG VAN VADER (C)
There should have been a riot. Not one of the matches on this card ended in a clear victory or a clean finish. And this match was no exception. Harley Race and Vader battled like two bulls, with the match ending when Race jumped off the apron with a DDT onto the floor. Vader could not get back into the ring before the ten-count and Race won the match, but not the title, as LOW titles cannot change hands on a count-out or a disqualification. **** The match was awesome, the result was not.

LEGENDS OF WRESTLING CARD #2 - FEBRUARY 11, 2023
The show started off with an interview with Harley Race about last week's match with Big Van Vader. Race was none-to-pleased with the result, saying, "The name of the game is to win championships and you can't win a championship when the champion decides to get himself counted out." Gordon Solie asked Race if he was suggesting that Vader was a coward. Race said, "Those are your words, not mine. All I know is that he had ample enough time to get back in the ring but he didn't." Race then said he doesn't know who he has to go through to get a rematch with the big man but he and Vader are not finished.
CACTUS JACK vs. TERRY GIBBS
The former World Champion was in action in what was a real squash match. It consisted of two moves, both performed by Cactus, who booted Gibbs in the face, went out to the floor and got a chair and then pasted Gibbs with said chair. The referee allowed this to happen and counted the three. After the match, Jack screamed that he was coming for Vader to regain his World Title. DUD
MAGNUM TA and DUSTY RHODES RECONCILIATION
TA came out and asked for a moment of Gordon Solie's time. He said that he had acted like a fool at Battle For The Belts I, especially after the battle royal when Dusty Rhodes attempted to apologize for what happened during the match, when Rhodes had accidentally eliminated his friend. TA asked for Dusty to come out so that he may apologize to him like a man. Dusty joined Gordon and Magnum and Magnum apologized to Dusty for acting like an idiot. Dusty accepted the apology and said that we all make mistakes and sometimes the situation gets so heated that we do and say things that we don't mean. Magnum then said that he noticed that the Rock 'N Roll Express had an open sheet for later in the night and he asked Dusty if he would be his partner and take on the RNRs. Dusty said he would love to partner with TA and then said, "Ain't nothin' personal, Ricky and Robert. Let's see who the better team is."
GREG VALENTINE vs. HULK HOGAN - TEXAS DEATH MATCH, NO DQ, NO COUNT-OUT, THERE MUST BE A WINNER!!!
Valentine and Hogan signed for this match during the week as a result of the ending to their previous match. Hogan was looking for a measure of revenge for the chairshot that Valentine gave him and boy, did he ever. Valentine got zero offense in the match, unless you include kicking out of Hogan's first Atomic Leg Drop as offense. Hogan tossed Valentine from the ring at one point and Valentine must have caught himself on the apron because he was cut open and bleeding like the proverbial stuck pig. Hogan's second Atomic Leg Drop ended things. After the match, Hogan did his customary posedown. DUD
THE ROCK 'N ROLL EXPRESS vs. DUSTY RHODES and MAGNUM TA
We got handshakes exchanged between the four men to start the match. Magnum and Gibson started out for their respective teams and Gibson was a house of fire, taking the fight to Magnum and not letting him get much, if any offense in. When Magnum was able to get a move or two in, it was quickly shut down. The established team used their experience to their advantage, tagging in and out of the match in rapid succession, keeping Magnum on the defensive. When Magnum was finally able to get the hot tag to Dusty, things started to shift gradually but not so much that the RNRs had to rethink their strategy. They just needed to settle the match down and get Dusty to work their pace to retake the advantage. Eventually, Dusty started to bleed and the Rock 'N Roll Express were like sharks. Magnum TA was able to make one pin save but the Rock 'N Roll Express hit back-to-back double dropkicks and put the bow on the package for the victory. ***
After the match, Magnum stood over Dusty and shook his head in disbelief. He grabbed a microphone and said that he used to believe in Dusty Rhodes, that he used to idolize him and that no matter the odds, he knew that Dusty would fire back and win in the end. And then he talked about the battle royal again, how Dusty had "Pearl Harbored" him and how selfish Dusty was. Magnum said, yes, he had asked for bygones to be bygones but this had gone too far. "Besides," he said, "I lied!" He took the microphone, hit Dusty with it in the head and then wrapped the microphone cord around Dusty's neck, choking him out, until the Rock 'N Roll Express ran back in and ran Magnum off.
MAIN EVENT
FOR THE UNITED STATES HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE
TONY ATLAS vs. BARRY WINDHAM (C)
Much like the previous match, both men shook hands and came out fighting. Atlas got the early advantage but once Windham found himself on the offensive, he never took his foot off the pedal, hitting a bulldog off the ropes and following that up with a Lariat and a pair of Sweetwater Superplexes for the victory to retain the belt. *1/2

Damn! Who knew Magnum had heel capabilities deep down inside? Some fun storylines you’ve got going on here.

LEGENDS OF WRESTLING CARD #3 - FEBRUARY 18, 2023
RICK RUDE vs. RANDY SAVAGE
The winner of this match was guaranteed a match against the United States Heavyweight Champion at WRESTLE WAR, next Sunday.
Savage managed a little bit of offense but could never hold the advantage for longer than a few moves before Rude took back over. In the end, it was a Rude Awakening, followed by a top rope sledgehammer that won the match for Rude. *1/2
MAGNUM TA ISSUES A CHALLENGE TO DUSTY RHODES
TA came out to a very loud chorus of boos. He told Gordon Solie that these fans were what was wrong with the world of wrestling. Gordon steers the interview back to the issue at hand, that being what happened last week with Dusty Rhodes. Solie shows video of the reconciliation, followed by the post-match attack by Magnum.
"For too long," Magnum says, "Dusty Rhodes has been idolized and lionized. Hell, even I fell for it, hook, line and sinker. The difference, unlike these fans out here and the majority of the wrestling world, is that I finally was able to see past the facade. Dusty Rhodes is nothing more than an over-glorified wannabe. He can't tie my boots on his best day."
The crowd continues to boo.
"To prove it to all of you people, I am issuing a challenge to your hero, Dusty Rhodes. Wrestle War is coming up at the end of this month. Why don't you meet me in the middle of the ring at Wrestle War and we will settle this once and for all?"
THE ROCK 'N ROLL EXPRESS vs. THE BRISCO BROTHERS (C) for the LOW World Tag Team Titles
Ricky Morton got a pin on Jack Brisco just before the time limit hit, but he was only able to get a two count before the bell rang. Twenty minutes had elapsed, and The Brisco Brothers escaped with their belts by the skin of their teeth. ****
DUSTY RHODES RESPONDS TO MAGNUM TA
Dusty Rhodes comes out and talks with Gordon Solie. Solie mentions that Magnum TA issued a challenge to Dusty earlier and plays the clip for those that had not seen it, as well as for Dusty’s benefit.
Dusty shakes his head and says that he can’t believe that it has come to this, that Magnum was like a brother to him and that he would have never done what Magnum did.
“It hurts my heart, Gordon Solie, you understand, for me to even think about facing my brother, Magnum. It hurts my soul. But Magnum TA, understand that you also hurt my pride. You hurt me so bad that I have no choice but to accept your challenge at Wrestle War.”
BOB BACKLUND vs. NICK BOCKWINKEL - Winner faces Big Van Vader for the LOW World Title at Wrestle War
Nick Bockwinkel was on a mission coming into this match. That mission was accomplished when he did not allow any offense by Backlund. Bockwinkel ended it quickly with the Bockwinkel Sleeper. Bockwinkel will take on Big Van Vader at Wrestle War. It will be interesting to see if he will have an answer for Bobby Heenan or if he will attempt to go it alone. *1/2
MAIN EVENT
"GOLDEN BOY" ADRIAN ADONIS vs. BARRY WINDHAM (C) for the LOW United States Heavyweight Title
The thought was that this match might actually go a little while, a little longer than Windham's previous US Title defenses. Adrian Adonis seemed like a bit more competition for the champion.
Well, he was more than a little bit more competition.
Windham got in a few moves but only a few moves as Adonis smothered the man from Sweetwater and then hit Goodnight Irene to win the United States Heavyweight Title. *1/2

LEGENDS OF WRESTLING CARD #5 - FEBRUARY 25, 2023
The day before WRESTLE WAR, this card may not look like much, but it had its moments. Let's have a look.
THE MASKED SUPERSTAR vs. LARRY SHARPE
We started off with a match that, on paper, looks like a cake walk for the Superstar. It was anything but. Sharpe managed to control the match on three different occasions and looked to have a shot at actually winning the bout, which would have been a real feather in his cap. However, in the end, it was The Masked Superstar getting the win with the second of two COBRA HOLDs. The first time, Sharpe's arm did not drop the third time the referee checked it. The Masked Superstar released the hold in frustration but went right back to it and this time, Sharpe's arm fell three times in a row. **
ANDRE THE GIANT ISSUES AN OPEN CHALLENGE
The first of a couple of interviews conducted by Gordon Solie. Andre The Giant said that it's been difficult getting matches when you're as "big and scary" as he is. He promises whomever he faces that he will "take it easy" on them. His smile says otherwise.
DUSTY RHODES INTERVIEW
Gordon Solie brought out The American Dream next to talk about his match with Magnum TA at Wrestle War. This was a very somber interview, as Dusty talked his friendship with Magnum TA and how when he first saw TA, he knew that he had what it took to be a superstar in this sport. That's why he took TA under his wing. He wanted him to find the success that he knew TA could achieve. Dusty talked about how difficult it is going to be to face Magnum at Wrestle War tomorrow. He said that he has made some peace with it but that Magnum should not take that peace to mean weakness. Dusty knows that he cannot be weak while facing this nightmare scenario.
Solie asked the million dollar question: "Win, lose or draw, do you think that this friendship can ever be repaired?"
Dusty said that he just didn't know if that was possible.
RANDY SAVAGE vs. JOHNNY RODZ
Another match where it seems standard and straightforward on paper but Savage was not prepared to be tested like this by Johnny Rodz. Rodz got the early advantage and Savage had to fight from underneath. In the end, Savage was able to hit an outside the ring flying axhandle and follow that up with the FLYING ELBOW SMASH for the victory. Rodz really made him work for it, though. **
HARLEY RACE CUTS A PROMO ON HULK HOGAN
Race said that while he respects Hogan, "You better bring everything you have, everything you are with you to WRESTLE WAR because you are facing your toughest challenge. I won't back down and I won't quit the way that Greg Valentine did. The fact of the matter is that you have never faced anyone like me."
ANDRE THE GIANT vs. ANGELO MOSCA and THE GRAPPLER
Prior to the match, Angelo Mosca came out and said that he would be willing to put up money to get a match with Andre The Giant. "You must not have looked far," Mosca said to the camera, "because I'm right here, Giant." The Grappler also came out and issued the challenge to Andre. He said he was willing to part with $2,500 to take on Andre. Mosca laughed and said that that was small potatoes and he said he would bid $5,000. The Grappler matched him and Gordon Solie cut them off before they could raise the bid any higher. He said he would get in touch with the booking committee and see if we could get a match right here today. After the commercial break, Gordon informed everyone that we would have a handicap match between Andre The Giant and the team of The Grappler and Angelo Mosca.
Mosca started off for his team but the match quickly devolved into a free-for-all, as The Grappler and Mosca attacked Andre together. The referee seemed to be okay with allowing this to take place. It didn't take long for Andre to sort them out, however, as he grabbed Mosca and tossed him into a corner for the turnbuckle smash and then he hit the Big Splash on Mosca. He only got a two count. He hit the Big Splash on The Grappler as well and only got a two count there. Mosca tried to fight back but he was too weakened by the splash and when The Grappler was hoisted in the air into a bear hug by Andre, the masked man submitted as quickly as he could.
After the match, Andre celebrated with the fans. *
THE ROAD WARRIORS CUT A PROMO ON THE MIRACLE VIOLENCE CONNECTION
Standard Road Warrior promo with a Hawk highlight:
"You guys call yourselves The Miracle Violence Connection. Well, it'll be a miracle if your violence ever connects with us!"
THE HEAVENLY BODIES vs. THE FLYING REDHEADS
The Heavenly Bodies picked up the win over the visiting tag team of Billy Red Lyons and Red Bastien. Bastien tried to a make a pin save after Prichard hit an elbow drop on Red Lyons but Stan Lane cut him off and Prichard got the pin and the win for his team. *
MAIN EVENT
BARRY WINDHAM vs. "GOLDEN BOY" ADRIAN ADONIS (C) for the United States Heavyweight Championship
It appeared that Adonis was going to have an easy time with Windham at the outset, as he got in a load of offense and hit Goodnight Irene twice in a row. But Windham was able to kick out of both pin attempts and stage a comeback that saw him lock on a sleeper and then turn that into the Blackjack Claw for the victory, regaining the US Title. *1/2

WRESTLE WAR LINE-UPIf anyone wants to make quick predictions before tomorrow, have at it. THE ROAD WARRIORS vs. THE MIRACLE VIOLENCE CONNECTIONThese two teams have not met yet in LOW, but there's a first time for everything. Hawk has issued a bold prediction that the Road Warriors will run roughshod over Gordy and Williams. Will he be right or have the Roadies met their match? ANDRE THE GIANT OPEN CHALLENGEWe saw what he did against two men. Is anyone else brave enough to step up to face Andre? RICK RUDE vs. BARRY WINDHAM (C) for the UNITED STATES HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP
Having regained the US Title, is Windham just keeping it warm for the Ravishing One? Or does the man from Sweetwater have what it takes to hold on to the gold? HULK HOGAN vs. HARLEY RACE - NUMBER ONE CONTENDER MATCH
Hogan thinks that he deserves a World Title shot. Race has been there and holds a win (albeit a count-out win) over the current champion, Big Van Vader. Who will take the win in this one? THE ROCK 'N ROLL EXPRESS vs. THE BRISCO BROTHERS (C) for the LOW WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP - NO TIME LIMIT
The Brisco Brothers barely held onto the belts last week against the Rock 'N Roll Express. If not for the twenty-minute time limit, they would have lost them. To the Briscos' credit, they lobbied for the no time limit stipulation as much as Ricky and Robert did. There will be a definitive winner in this one. DUSTY RHODES vs. MAGNUM TA
This all started last month at Battle For The Belts I, when Dusty accidentally eliminated Magnum TA from the number one contender battle royal. Magnum TA yelled at Dusty in the locker room afterwards about how Dusty was a glory hog. Two weeks later, he apologized to Dusty and seemingly wanted to make things right in a tag match with Dusty against the Rock 'N Roll Express. But when they lost to the Express, Magnum turned his back on Dusty forever by attacking him with a microphone and the microphone cord. Now these former friends face off one-on-one. Will Dusty be able to get a measure of revenge against Magnum or will TA continue make the American Dream's life a nightmare? MAIN EVENT FOR THE LOW WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP
NICK BOCKWINKEL vs. BIG VAN VADER (C) w/BOBBY "THE BRAIN" HEENAN
Nick Bockwinkel defeated Bob Backlund last week to win the right to face Vader in this match at WRESTLE WAR. Bockwinkel faces an uphill climb in both his opponent and in the fact that his opponent's manager is his former manager. How much about how Bockwinkel works has Bobby Heenan shared with his new client and how will Vader put that to use? Will Bockwinkel be able to overcome the odds and win the belt?

Sure, I'll throw some predictions out there: 1. The Road Warriors over Miracle Violence Connection 2. Angelo Mosca will challenge Andre The Giant. I ran this match myself when I got my Legends X set and Mosca got the win. 3. Barry Windham will retain the U.S. Championship 4. Harley Race will beat Hulk Hogan 5. The Rock N Roll Express will win the Tag Team Championship from The Briscos 6. Magnum will defeat Rhodes. This seems like a feud that will could go on for a few more cards. Rhodes chasing a win over Magnum would add some more drama to it. Hopefully the dice co-operate. 7. Vader will beat Bockwinkel and retain the World Championship.

WRESTLE WAR 2023 - LIVE FROM THE GREENSBORO COLISEUM in GREENSBORO, NC
Gordon Solie ran down the card, talking up the matches that we would see later in the night, including the match that everyone came to see, Magnum TA vs. Dusty Rhodes. "Iron Man" hit the speakers and The Road Warriors, led by "Precious" Paul Ellering, came to the ring first for their match against Terry Gordy and Steve Williams. The crowd erupted with a huge ovation as the Legion of Doom posed on the ropes.
THE ROAD WARRIORS vs. THE MIRACLE VIOLENCE CONNECTION
Fewer than four minutes into the match, Dr. Death hit a Doctor Bomb on Animal, who then decided to take a break outside the ring. Williams was not about to let Animal get a rest and followed him out, starting a brawl with the big man. Hawk and Gordy followed suit and begin brawling. For whatever reason, the referee decided that Animal had started the brawl and disqualified The Road Warriors, giving the match to The Miracle Violence Connection. Both teams continued to brawl, heading into the crowd and then back to the locker room. Don't think for an instant that we've seen the last of these two teams warring with each other.
Time of match: 3:28 DUD
ANDRE THE GIANT'S OPEN CHALLENGE
Andre The Giant came to the ring next and issued yet another open challenge. At first, no one came out, but then The Masked Superstar made his way to the ring. Let's see how he fared.
ANDRE THE GIANT vs. THE MASKED SUPERSTAR
Andre hit the Big Splash and pinned The Masked Superstar. The time of the match: 1:33. DUD
RICK RUDE vs. BARRY WINDHAM (C) for the UNITED STATES HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE
It seemed that everyone had somewhere else to be as this match followed the blueprint of the previous two matches, lasting only 3:12, with The Ravishing One hitting a swinging neckbreaker on Windham for the victory and becoming the NEW United States Heavyweight Champion. DUD
HULK HOGAN vs. HARLEY RACE - NUMBER ONE CONTENDER MATCH
Finally, a match that actually had legs which, considering Hogan was involved, was odd.
After a back and forth struggle between the two men in which Hogan bled, Harley Race locked on the Indian Deathlock in the middle of the ring and Hogan had no choice but to submit. Harley Race is once again the number one contender to the LOW World Heavyweight Title.
Time of match: 11:05 **1/2
FYI, Hogan never got a pin attempt on Race.
THE ROCK 'N ROLL EXPRESS vs. THE BRISCO BROTHERS (C) for the WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP - NO TIME LIMIT
Another back-and-forth epic between these two teams. These two were so closely matched that it was a coin flip as to who was going to win the match. At one point, The RNR hit a DOUBLE DROPKICK on both Briscos but they couldn't get the pin; Jerry Brisco made the save on Jack getting pinned. On the flip side of the coin, Ricky Morton had to break up a submission attempt as Jack locked Robert in the Scorpion Death Lock. By the end of the match, Morton and both Brisco Brothers were busted open. Jack ended things with a FIGURE FOUR LEGLOCK followed up Lateral Guillotine on Morton. The Briscos retain their World Tag Team Title.
Time of match: 14:58 ****
DUSTY RHODES vs. MAGNUM TA
A video package of what has led to this match is played next.
Magnum TA comes out to a raucous crowd, jeering and booing him. There are, however, a few fans that are cheering TA. Dusty came out to a superstar's entrance, but he was all business.
The match (if what took place can be called that without laughter) did not last long as Dusty got the advantage and took Magnum TA to the mat with an arm bar. He then brought TA to his feet and hit a Standing Bionic Elbow and TA went down to the mat again. Dusty covered him and may well have gotten the pin if not for what transpired next.
Wahoo McDaniel ran to the ring and grabbed the American Dream, hitting him with a TOMAHAWK CHOP! Magnum was disqualified for McDaniel's interference, but it didn't seem to matter to TA, as he joined Wahoo in his attack on Dusty. TA hit a BELLY TO BELLY SUPLEX on Rhodes and then the duo targeted Dusty's right arm, stretching it out and dropping knees on it and stomping the arm repeatedly. The referee kept calling for the bell. Magnum grabbed him and tossed him from the ring. The bell kept ringing and finally some of Dusty's allies (Barry Windham, The Rock 'N Roll Express and The Road Warriors) hit the ring and ran the heels off. But the damage was already done.
Time of the match: 0:46 DUD
The match may have been a DUD, but almost everyone thinks that TA never had any intention of locking up with Dusty here and used the opportunity to set Dusty for the beating he took from Magnum and Wahoo.
MAIN EVENT for the LOW WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE
NICK BOCKWINKEL vs. BIG VAN VADER (C) w/BOBBY "THE BRAIN" HEENAN
Nick Bockwinkel gave it a good try, making for a see-saw battle for a short while, before Vader put an end to any dream that Bockwinkel might take the win here. Vader was just too much for Bockwinkel, though, hitting the RELEASED POWER BOMB for the victory.
Time of match: 7:10 **1/2
