Man, this is getting out of hand! I am over 25,000 words and still not done with the handbook. Apparently I am being very wordy and I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing! Most of the other handbooks are around 22,000 words so adding around 4,000 is a big jump. Maybe I'll edit it down when I'm proofreading. Feel free to share your thoughts. Do you prefer shorter handbooks or larger ones? ................ Whatever it takes to tell the story. Sometimes you can do it in 15,000 words and maybe sometimes you need 40,000. We're just along for the ride. |

I just finished the first full draft of the handbook and it's around 28,000 words. I'm not sure why. I didn't think I had that much more to say going in but I guess the stories said otherwise. Not sure how much the editing will change it. I suppose it could add more!
I'm going to put the handbook aside for a week and then tackle the edits. I like to get some distance.
All the card art is finished and working on backgrounds and colors with Tom R.
A lot of this card art blows me away and I love when I feel that way!
I'm still pretty much ahead of schedule, especially with card art. As for the handbook, that's coming along a little slower but we still have almost two months to finish the text and work on cover and layouts.
In the meantime there's the new Future Shock set to keep everyone busy with dice rolling, wrestling of the future action!
Whew! Can't believe I've been doing this for over 35 years and in the early days it was SO MUCH easier! But I love it nonetheless.

For what it's worth, I say let the stories themselves dictate the overall length.
When it's ready you'll know it.
Is it July yet?

Working on handbook edits. I read 30 pages today (out of 60, exactly half). The BIG BIG Origins story will shake everybody.
Experimenting with different color and background ideas for the game cards. Spectacular work by Darryl and Tom R, which I know everyone has come to expect but we should never take the talents of these two gentlemen for granted.
