As the old adage says, IT'S YOUR FED PROMOTER. The game police aren't going to show up at you door and take your dice away.
I learned my way of playing today in 1992, at Galacticon 3, from Mike, Tim, Chad and Mark.
Let me ask those of you that roll pin saves before. Are you going to tell me that you NEVER.... EVER rolled a successful pin in a tag match and then said wait... I still have a pin save to use and then used said pin save? Be honest.
Bottom line is play however you have the most fun, that is what it's all about.

Besides it more entertaining when every match doesn’t follow the same formula IMO. Rolling after does cut down on the RNG though so I understand why many do it.

What frustrates me is when I have a pin attempt early in the match so I choose not to try a pin save. Then the dice roll results in a pin to end the match quickly.

What frustrates me is when I have a pin attempt early in the match so I choose not to try a pin save. Then the dice roll results in a pin to end the match quickly. I had this happen yesterday... It was a title match with Bob Backlund defending against Big John Studd... Backlund pinned Studd after a delayed vertical suplex either 1 or two moves in... Now, Studd had beaten Andre to gain the title shot, and an angry Andre was at ringside for the match... I just decided that Studd was majorly distracted by Andre being there, resulting in the quick pin... This will reignite the feud between Studd and Andre for sure!!

I let the "dice" decide the game and try and write around it to make it both more interesting and to test my story telling skills. For example, I'm starting over my GWF fed at 2074 and in the middle of the heavyweight tournament to crown the first GWF heavyweight champion. In a match between Moonstrike and K.O. Keller, I was 10 moves into the match, K.O. had already thrown Moonstrike out of the ring once (since he Level 3 move 2 is an out of the ring with no choice) and then hit THE TEN COUNT and Moonstrike kicked out. Then he rolled a 2 on Level 3 again to throw him out of the ring. Then Moonstrike rolled a 10 on the Out of the Ring chart and K.O. Keller rolled a 4 to be DQ'ed. Instead of re-rolling I came up with a way to still have K.O. Keller be a face and be DQ'ed. I came up with the below idea.
After shaking hands at the beginning of the match, K.O. and Moonstrike were prepared to wrestle a fair match. After hitting Moonstrike with THE TEN COUNT, K.O. Keller threw Moonstrike out of the ring and by accident he was thrown into the ring announcers chair. The referee decided to call the match as a DQ but Moonstrike tried to protest, however K.O. Keller said "no let the decision stand, since this is the first GWF heavyweight tournament, it shouldn't be marred in controversy". He then said to Moonstrike, "Just promise me, if you win the title, I'd like to be the first person you defend it against". Moonstirke shook his hand and said yes.
Not saying my way is for everyone but I like that it allows you to not be biased towards your favorites.

Good convo everyone. I'm going to test out rolling after a successful pin for the tag team pin saves only on a few cards and see how it feels. Keeping other interference rolls pre pin for the time being.

But that 0.01% of the time of playing with somebody else, and they're strictly by the book. I like understanding the official rulings, so not to annoy my counterpart! That's what the rules are for, to make sure everyone is on the same page when playing against one another. And while we're being honest, we all know when something is on the line, like at a G-Con for the right to CAC, or some other prize, everyone wants to be fair and keeping things straight and down the middle. I believe that's the point of this topic? But I definitely play my own way and write my own results as they happen.

Something I noticed is when rolling saves after the pin it gives heels or anyone with a manager a HUGE advantage. You have to roll ahead to give the baby face or manager less wrestlers a chance. If not the manager less wrestler has to pin his opponent 3 times to win vs only once.

I personally only roll for pin saves or a Distraction attempt after an otherwise successful PIN roll has occurred. I have found it often leads to better matches and it is not cheating as long as you are consistent in doing it that way for every match and for both sides in the match (not just the side you want to win.) I really need to start doing this. That is such a better way to handle it and makes the managers feel more effective.

I have always rolled pin saves and interferences 'after' as A LOT of us old Galacticoners do.
I've never given it a second thought, since my first Galaicton in 1992.
It helps make a 'shoot' into a kind of 'work' and gives me 'the booker' the illusion of control.
The dice still have the final say, still screwing up my plans more times than nought..
Rolling 'after' also helps with title reigns. I mean how prestigious is a title if it's traded fourteen times a year??
I'm playing with several house rules.
- (PW) and (AG) 'NEW' Matthew Butcher rule
- Roll pin or interference AFTER
- Kick out of PIN with boxcarrs (12) and opponent rolls on level 2 offense and not again on level 3. You kicked out with such authority you slowed his offense a bit.
And a couple other minor ones.
This works for ME and I have FUN, that's what it's all about.
You do you and what works for YOU.
It's YOUR Fed promoter!!!
Your only limitation is your imagination...
