IWA #1: Champions Tournament 2023 01.07.2023 from Los Angeles, CA
Ian Riccaboni welcomes everyone tuning in to the first ever Independent Wrestling Association event. He delves into what to expect from the IWA, which is a touring league broken down by seasons, with seasons running from the end of one "Premium Event" to the beginning of the next "Premium Event". He announces that tonight will be an eight-man, no disqualification or count out, one-night tournament to crown the first IWA Champion. He runs down the qualifications of the competitors: Alex Kane, Zicky Dice, Matt Taven, Jake Atlas, Elijah Burke, Jonah Rock, Alexander Hammerstone and Luchasaurus. After this, we head immediately to the ring for the first ever match in IWA history.
Alex Kane vs. Zicky Dice Zicky Dice defeated Alex Kane with a Northern Lights Suplex. The Outlandish One finishes off Alex Kane to advance to the second round of the tournament. 3*
Matt Taven vs. Jake Atlas Matt Taven defeated Jake Atlas with a CLIMAX. Matt Taven controls this match and knocks Jake Atlas out of the tournament. 1*
Elijah Burke vs. Jonah Rock Elijah Burke defeated Jonah Rock with an ELIJAH EXPRESS. Jonah Rock controlled much of the match, but Elijah Burke withstood the punishment. Rock could not put Burke away, and it cost him as Burke got the momentum late in the match and finished off Rock. 3*
Alexander Hammerstone vs. Luchasaurus Luchasaurus defeated Alexander Hammerstone with a SHINING LIZARD. In a great match between two big men, Luchasaurus survives an onslaught by Hammerstone to emerge victorious when Hammerstone missed a cross body block and got a Shining Lizard for his trouble. 4*
Fire and Nice (Dr. Britt Bake & Chelsea Green) vs. Sea Stars (Ashley Vox & Delmi Exo) Ashley Vox defeated Britt Baker with an Ace Crusher & Elbow Drop. The Sea Stars control just about the entire match and get an easy victory over Fire and Nice. After dishing out a ton of punishment to Chelsea Green, Ashley Vox and Delmi Exo switched to pummeling Britt Baker when Baker entered the match to get the win with the double team combo move. 1.5*
Matt Taven vs. Zicky Dice Zicky Dice defeated Matt Taven with an Ankle Lock. Zicky Dice controlled the match early, Matt Taven gained control and dominated the middle part of the match, and then the Outlandish One regained control to finish the match and end it with an ankle lock. Zicky Dice moves on to battle for the IWA Championship. 3*
Elijah Burke vs. Luchasaurus Luchasaurus defeated Elijah Burke with a SHINING LIZARD. Luchasaurus won an epic battle on the floor, threw Elijah Burke into the ring and nailed him with the Shining Lizard. Luchasaurus moves on to face Zicky Dice for the IWA Championship. 2*
Matt Cardona vs. EJ Nduka Matt Cardona defeated EJ Nduka with a JUMPING LEG LARIAT. Matt Cardona catches EJ Nduka with a big jumping leg lariat in a see-saw match. Even though Nduka had his fair share of offense, he could not get Cardona's shoulders to the mat, while Cardona always seemed to have Nduka in a pinning predicament when he was on offense. 3*
- IWA Championship - Luchasaurus vs. Zicky Dice Luchasaurus defeated Zicky Dice with a SHINING LIZARD. Luchasaurus becomes the inaugural IWA Champion! Both competitors kicked out of the other's finisher early on in the match, but Zicky Dice couldn't overcome a second Shining Lizard. 2*

Wow, great runs in the tournament for Luchasaurus and Zicky Dice!! Always good to see a Sea Stars win as well I definitely did not expect Zicky Dice to go as far as he did, and you'll see in the upcoming post he kept his moment. It will be interesting to see if the Sea Stars can build off this win and win the Womens Tag title tournament in a few cards.

IWA #2: Tag Team Champion Tournament 01.14.2023 from San Diego, CA
Ian Riccaboni welcomes everyone to the show. He announces that this will be another exciting card featuring four teams battling for the IWA Tag Team Championship in a one-night tournament. He goes over the qualifications of the Major Players (Matt Cardona & Brian Myers), 5150 (Danny Limelight & Slice Boogie), America's Most Wanted (Chris Harris & James Storm) and the Von Erichs (Ross & Marshall Von Erich). He then tosses it to the ring announcer to start the action.
Major Players (Matt Cardona & Brian Myers) vs. 5150 (Danny Limelight & Slice Boogie) Major Players (Brian Meyers) defeated 5150 (Danny Limelight) with a Flash pin. 5150 were in solid control of this match. Danny Limelight and Slice Boogie had Brian Myers isolated and in trouble from the outset. A whip into the ropes by Limelight and an early duck of his shoulders opened up the opportunity for Myers to get a quick pin on Limelight for a disappointing loss for 5150. Matt Cardona only entered the ring to break up a couple of pins. 1.5*
America's Most Wanted (Chris Harris & James Storm) vs. Von Erichs (Ross & Marshall Von Erich) America's Most Wanted (James Storm) defeated Von Erichs (Ross Von Erich). with an Eye of the Storm. A solid, action-packed match that saw AMW and the Von Erichs get equal offense in. James Storm ends it by catching Ross Von Erich with the Eye of the Storm. AMW move on to face off against the Major Players for the IWA Tag Team Championship. 2.5*
Alex Kane promo Alex Kane comes down to the ring and asks for a mic. The fans start chanting "Bomaye!" to which Kane replies "Bomaye is for the people!". He mentions that a travesty occurred in the champions tournament and there is no way that Zicky Dice could defeat him again and demands Dice come out and get some work. Dice comes out but stays up on the stage. He says that Alex Kane clearly doesn't know Outlandish Zicky Dice very well and that he'll wrestle who he wants, when he wants. The two trade insults, and Kane turns his back on Dice when it appears Dice is leaving. This is a mistake as Dice rushes the ring and jumps Kane from behind. A ref runs to the ring and we have ourselves a match!
Alex Kane vs. Zicky Dice Zicky Dice defeated Alex Kane with a SNAKE RATTLE & ROLL. Alex Kane looked to be in trouble early in the match from Zicky Dice's attack but recovered to make this a competitive match. A brawl around ringside led to Dice gaining the upper hand and getting a woozy Kane in the ring for the Snake Rattle & Roll. 2*
Alexander Hammerstone vs. Colby Corino Alexander Hammerstone defeated Colby Corino with a DQ. Alexander Hammerstone took control right from the opening bell on the debuting Colby Corino, hitting him with a Pendulum Nightmare within seconds after the bell rang, and getting him in another pinning predicament soon after. Corino bailed to the outside and was DQ'd after piledriving Hammerstone on the announcer's table. 1*
- IWA Tag Team Championship - America's Most Wanted (Chris Harris & James Storm) vs. Major Players (Matt Cardona & Brian Myers) for the IWA Tag Team Championship Brian Meyers defeated James Storm with a LONG ISLAND EXPRESS. In an incredible match, the Major Players overcome America's Most Wanted to win the IWA Tag Team Championship. All participants battered each other in a long bout that ended when Chris Harris made a pin save late in the match only to have the ref turn his attention to Harris and miss Matt Cardona entering the ring illegally. This led to James Storm being blasted by the Long Island Express double team move and Brian Myers picking up the win and the gold belts. 4.5*
Ian Riccaboni ends the show by saying next week the women will be showcased in a one-night tournament to crown the first ever IWA Womens champion.

IWA #3: Womens Championship Tournament 01.21.2023 from Phoenix, AZ
This show opens with a video package highlighting the credentials of the 8 women competing in tonight's tournament: Madison Rayne. Chelsea Green, Britt Baker, Shotzi Blackheart, Cat Power, Su Yung, Hudson Envy and Tessa Blanchard. Immediately after the video package, Ian Riccaboni tosses it to the ring announcer to get the show started.
Madison Rayne vs. Chelsea Green Madison Rayne defeated Chelsea Green with a RAYNE CHECK. Great match to start off the show and tournament! These two fought tooth and nail in a match that had a little bit of everything in it. Madison Rayne survived two Unprettiers from Chelsea Green. Green survived an early Rayne Check but couldn't survive a second one later in the match as Madison Rayne advanced in the tournament. 4.5*
Britt Baker vs. Shotzi Blackheart Shotzi Blackheart defeated Britt Baker with a DIVING SENTON. Shotzi Blackheart survived a Steel City Stretch to put away Britt Baker with a Diving Senton. 2*
Cat Power vs. Su Young Su Young defeated Cat Power with THE PURGE. Su Yung picked up the win over Cat Power in a match that had as much action outside the ring as in it. 2.5*
Hudson Envy vs. Tessa Blanchard Tessa Blanchard defeated Hudson Envy with a DOUBLE KNEE FACEBREAKER. In an exciting, action-packed match, Tessa Blanchard survived three Air Raid Crashes (two in a row at one point) from Hudson Envy to escape with the win and move on in the tournament. 4.5*
5150 (Danny Limelight & Slice Boogie) vs. Mane Event (Duke Davis & Ganon Jones, Jr.) Danny Limelight defeated Ganon Jones Jr. with a MORIR SONANDO. 5150 isolated Ganon Jones, Jr. for almost the entire match. While Jones, Jr. survived several pin attempts, some with the help of Duke Davis who watched helplessly from the apron, he couldn't make a tag when he needed to. Danny Limelight mercifully ended it before it became embarrassing for the Mane Event. 1.5*
Storm challenges Cardona America's Most Wanted came to the ring and cut a promo. James Storm said he can't help but feel AMW was cheated out of the IWA Tag Team titles when Matt Cardona entered the ring illegally and helped Brian Myers win the title match last week. Next week, he wants Cardona in the ring.
Madison Rayne vs. Tessa Blanchard Tessa Blanchard defeated Madison Rayne with a Short-Arm Clothesline. A match that had good flow and action ended way too quickly when Madison Rayne couldn't kick out from a Tessa Blanchard short-arm clothesline. 1.5*
Shotzi Blackheart vs. Su Young Su Young defeated Shotzi Blackheart with a PANIC SWITCH. Shotzi Blackheart came out to this match like a house of fire and actually got Su Yung into three straight pinning predicaments quickly. Yung survived however, and quickly turned the tide to hit the Panic Switch and stop Shotzi cold. 2*
Matt Taven vs. Jonah Rock Matt Taven defeated Jonah Rock with a Springboard Moonsault. Matt Taven made super quick work of Jonah Rock, who inexplicably lasted only about 10 moves before succumbing to a springboard moonsault. MAJOR DUD
IWA Womens Championship Su Young vs. Tessa Blanchard Su Young defeated Tessa Blanchard with a Diving Cannonball Senton. The first ever 5-star match in IWA history saw Su Yung outlast Tessa Blanchard to become the inaugural IWA Womens champion! Yung and Blanchard battered each other inside and outside the ring. Blanchard wrestled more than half the match with blurry vision from a red substance Yung spit into her eyes. Even with impaired vision, it looked like Tessa had the match sewn up when she hit the Double Knee Facebreaker on her beaten down opponent, but Yung somehow managed to get her shoulder up at 2.9, regain momentum a short time later, and hit Blanchard with The Purge (which Blanchard survived) followed by a diving cannonball senton. 5*
In all the buzz following the 5-star championship match, Ian Riccaboni tried to hype up the Womens Tag Team championship tournament next week.

IWA #4: Womens Tag Team Championship Tournament 01.28.2023 from Seattle, WA
This show opens with a video package highlighting the four tag teams in tonight's Womens Tag Team Championship tournament - Canadian Ninjas, Sea Stars, Fire and Nice and Regeneration X. Ian Riccaboni points out that Fire and Ice are looking for a measure of revenge on the Sea Stars after the Sea Stars handed them a loss on card #1. He explains that will have to wait though as Fire and Nice has to get through the Canadian Ninjas and throws it to the ring announcer for the entrances to the first match of the night.
Canadian Ninjas (Nicole Matthews & Portia Perez) vs. Fire and Nice (Dr. Britt Baker & Chelsea Green) Nicole Matthews defeated Chelsea Green with a VANCOUVER MANEUVER. The Canadian Ninjas made quick work of Fire and Nice when Chelsea Green missed a cross body block from the top rope that Nicole Matthews followed up with her Vancouver Maneuver finisher. The only action Britt Baker saw was breaking up a pin attempt when Portia Perez and Matthews hit Chelsea Green with a Funky Cold Medina early in the match. 1*
Regeneration X (Allison Danger & Leva Bates) vs. Sea Stars (Ashley Vox & Delmi Exo) Ashley Vox defeated Allison Danger with a Missile Dropkick. The teams were pretty evenly matched in this contest with all four women getting in their share of offense and ring time. Ashley Vox finishes off Allison Danger with a missile dropkick. The Sea Stars go on to face the Canadian Ninjas for the IWA Womens Tag Team championship. 1.5*
James Storm vs. Matt Cardona Matt Cardona defeated James Storm via DQ. James Storm had this match well in hand and looked to be on his way to finishing off Matt Cardona, but Cardona managed to swing momentum back in his favor and annoy Storm with his cocky antics that Storm picked up his beer bottle that he left sitting in his corner and smashed Cardona over the head with it, allowing Cardona to escape with a DQ win. 2*
Madison Rayne vs. Shotzi Blackheart Madison Rayne defeated Shotzi Blackheart with a Rayne Drop. Madison Rayne made quick work of Shotzi Blackheart with a Rayne Drop. Shotzi did get some offense in, but Rayne was the better of the two in this match. 2*
IWA Womens Tag Team Championship Canadian Ninjas (Nicole Matthews & Portia Perez) vs. Sea Stars (Ashley Vox & Delmi Exo) Nicole Matthews defeated Delmi Exo with a VANCOUVER MANEUVER. In an exciting back and forth match, the Canadian Ninjas outlasted the Sea Stars to win the IWA Womens Tag Team Championship. This match showcased the quick teamwork and chemistry of both teams. Each competitor found themselves isolated at one point or another while their opponents used quick tags and worked them over. Finally, Nicole Matthews was able to stop Delmi Exo with the Vancouver Maneuver. 3*

Great start to the IWA! A big win for Major Players but how long can Cardona and Myers keep hold of those belts with AMW hunting them down?

The IWA has announced its first official tour, which will be named The Open Gauntlet Challenge. This is a unique concept where a gauntlet will take place, however, it will happen over the ten weeks of the tour. Six competitors will be involved in the gauntlet, and the winner will be facing off against the champion in the division they are competing in at Gauntlet Gold 1. The unique part of this gauntlet is that it is a two-way gauntlet which best thought of as a ladder that the competitors will have to go up and then back down. As an example, in the IWA Championship division, if participant #1 wins every match, they will fight #2, #3, #4, #5 and #6, and then have to fight #6, #5, #4, #3 and #2 to earn a title opportunity. Can anyone make it all the way through the gauntlet undefeated? Some of the participants have already been part of the IWA, but several will be new. To start the tournament off, the runner-up in each division from the just completed championship tournament series will kick things off. This means Zicky Dice, America's Most Wanted, Tessa Blanchard and the Sea Stars will be the first through this grueling tournament. Will any of them survive and earn a rematch?
