Washington State and Oregon State are working to be affiliate members of the WCC in non-football sports like men's and women's basketball. They are looking to rebuild the Pac-12 brand and use it for their football program. I swear, if someone does not come out with "Pac 1 2" or "Pac One Two" merchandise next season they are wasting a great opportunity.

Then they can argue whose one and whose two. Will make for a great rivalry.

I was thinking it is wise for Washington State and Oregon State to hold onto the Pac12 name for the future. Depending on how professional D1 football goes it might not matter but if they stick somewhat the way things are it is possible in a few years some of the lower teams in these mega conferences might want to be part of a conference where they can be more competitive. So, you might see teams leaving the Big Ten, SEC and Big 12 wanting to form a conference. The Pac12 could step in and give them that opportunity.

If Florida State and Clemson are successful in their grant of rights lawsuit against the ACC (that's a big if though) and are able to leave then you'll start to see the rats fleeing the sinking ship that would be the ACC. Geography seems to mean nothing in this new era of mega-conferences. It wouldn't surprise to see schools like Boston College, Syracuse and Wake Forest who aren't going to get picked up by the other big conferences looking at the Pac-12 as an option; especially if their merger with the Mountain West goes through. It would also be some sweet karma to see Cal & Stanford having to come crawling back to the Pac.😁

The thing is..it won't matter. By that point, it might as well just be the SEC and Big 10. The rest of the schools will be begging for the couple scraps that are left.

I forgot to congratulate Washington State on their big win late Saturday night. Beating Texas Tech is impressive. The game was a bit hard to watch because the announcers started ignoring the game and just talking among themselves. At one point there was a flag, and they were thinking it was for celebration, because they were not really watching the game, even though it was thrown early. Worse, after the ref announced the call the one dude was still going on about how the celebration cost them due to the flag even thought it was not for that.

tomorrow/Thursday, 4 Mountain West schools (Boise State, Fresno State, San Diego State and Colorado State) are expected to announce their intention to leave the MWC and join the PAC-12 for the 2026-27 competition year.

The Pac still need to find 2 more schools by 26-27 school year to reach the 8 team minimum to remain an official conference in the NCAA.
