bad news, missed my flight to Tampa and I am stranded in Denver, but my bag made the connecting flight
The gate attendant apologized to me as she knew it was another United flight whose delay caused me to miss this United flight and she asked them to keep the gate open for another 5 minutes but instead United chose to keep the flight to Tampa on time even though me and 10 others from the flight to Las Vegas would have made it if they kept the gate open for 5 more minutes (again my bag made it) because one person on the flight to Tampa had a connecting flight. So they screwed 11 passengers tonight for one passenger but if the gate had been kept open for 5 more minutes than everyone would have been fine.
I won't be able to sleep tonight but I do have a $15 meal voucher from United (but there is no place open to use it.)

That is some crappy luck. Bad communication between the carrier as the Tampa flight should have waited a bit more to allow those connecting to get on. Then a food voucher that is only good to eat itself. Hope things get better for you Zeke.

Then a food voucher that is only good to eat itself. Hope things get better for you Zeke. I finally got to use the food voucher as Chick Fila opened up,, I did not even know they had breakfast. I decided to proceed with my trip to Tampa Bay as I can still make the show if I don’t have another delay and there is actually a plane at my gate (where my flight is next) now even though boarding does not start for almost 2 hours. Plus they put my bag on last night’s connecting flight to Tampa Bay and I want to get my bag back. Hopefully I can fall asleep on this flight to Tampa Bay as I have been up about 24 hours now. |

I just got another 99 minute plane delay. And thus morning flight just got delayed again. It is going to suck if I miss this show. |

The flight just got delayed for a third time. That is a total of 6 delays and 1 flight that stranded me because they would not keep the gate for the connecting flight open for 5 more minutes.
Even if this new departure time does not get delayed yet again, I am now looking at an arrival time of after 4 and once I get there I still need to get my bag from yesterday in the Tampa baggage claim, take the tram to the rental car area, and then drive to St. Petersberg. Doors are at 5:30. At best, I will probably be late For tonight’s show.

An absolute nightmare! Hope things get a bit smoother soon! things did get better! I was not there when doors opended but I still got there and I made a great signing tonight to make all of those flight delays worth it. |

brief recap for tonight (and I guess yesterday too since I have barely slept since Wednesday night:)
3 flight delays from United for my first flight from Las Vegas to Denver meant my original 90 minute transition time from flight to flight in Denver was reduced to just minutes and it was not enough. On my phone I have a message of welcome to Denver at 11:45 PM and then another message right afterward saying my flight to Tampa departs at 11:59PM all by the same airline United.
It was just not possible to make my connecting flight due to the earlier flight delays by the same airline even though I ran to that gate. The other plane was still there, but they had closed the gate even though they had been told I was coming. My checked luggage even made the fight, but they would not let me on the plane so I was stuck in Denver for what was supposed to be 6 hours but which turned out to be 11 hours due to another 3 more flight delays by the same airline.
I know all airlines have occasional flight delays, it happens. But getting 6 flight delays while all the other airlines at the gates around them have no problems AND being stranded for no excusable reason in another city WHILE only being given $15 for food (by comparison Alaska gave me $50 for food and a nice hotel when I was stranded by them) is why I will never fly United ever again.
I finally made it to Tampa Bay and immediately things got better. I was able to get my bag sent the earlier night immediately (when I first heard that I had to go to an office for people who lost their luggage while flying United I was worried the line might be out the door) as I saw my Boba Fett baggage tag on my bag and they confirmed my name and gave me my luggage. I then immediately got the tram (very easy system to follow at the Tampa airport) to pick up my rental car and then I got to my hotel (just a few minutes away from and on the way to the venue) to briefly check in and then I made it to Major League Wrestling.
The flight problems prevented me from making it when doors first opened but the show had not started yet and before the show I got my Matt Riddle update, Richard Holliday, Alex Kane, and Akira cards autographed. Holliday asked me if I was from Florida or from Las Vegas as that is where I had met him to get him signed for the game. This was my first time meeting Akira in person (last year I signed him online for the deathmatch set) and I was able to give him a stack of copies of his game card.
Afterward, I then noticed there were some other wrestlers doing meet and greets on the other side of the venue. I could not get over there quick enough as it looked like one of these names who I was really hoping to talk to was about to pack up their merch and leave. I do not want to say too much without giving anything away but I was able to sign this person to the game tonight and I have a photo with them I really wish I could post, but I don't think I can without spoiling this major new signing for the game. I also made another big signing before the show started too.
Overall I had a great time at the show tonight. It is a great venue for wrestling. Matt Riddle vs Timothy Thatcher IMO was especially good (at least from my live attendee front row perspective.) I enjoyed both War Chamber matches but the one involving The Calling was of course the more violent match due to the talent (many with deathmatch backgrounds) involved. I wore one of my PWG shirts, a guy sitting near me in the front row was wearing a GCW shirt and MLW staff brought him a WTF shirt for him to change into.
now I need to get some much needed sleep and I look forward to spending the remainder of this weekend in Florida.
