I just got this new book called Weapon X by a kid named Barry Windsor Smith. Ever heard of it? Classic from 1991 originally serialized in Marvel Comics Presents. I just can't force myself to read anything new from Marvel. I've heard good things about Immortal Hulk. Can anyone confirm? Speaking of Barry Smith, if you haven't checked out his graphic novel "Monsters", it's worth a read. 360 pages and 35 years in the making, it's definitely his magnum opus. I liked Immortal Hulk quite a bit. It's a body horror take on Hulk and feels like Swamp Thing at times. Also, Monsters was fantastic. Did you get the Gallery Edition of Weapon X/ ..................... The hardcover gallery edition is OOP and I couldn't find one for less than 100, so I went with the current printing of the TPB. Probably will give Immortal Hulk a try. I like IowaOaks library idea. We've got a library system with a pretty good graphic novel selection, so that may be the way to go. Then if I like it I can pick up everything to own. The only recent green guy I've been reading is Cyberfrog, so maybe it's time to pick back up with the Jade Giant.

Marvel and DC never keep anything in print very long anymore. I think the Weapon X gallery edition is less than two years old.

One of my favorite comic book stores here in Columbus, Ohio celebrated it's 30th anniversary by closing...🥺 This economy is rough anymore, especially on mon and pops stores.

I've been grabbing Legion of Super-Heroes from the Levitz-Giffen run when I can find them cheap on Shopgoodwill.com. It's hard to believe how big the LOSH were before Crisis and John Byrne chipped away at it. The Legion was fantastic back in the day. Before Crisis, DC didn't sell many comics other than LSH & Teen Titans. The thing that always amazed me about the Levitz-Giffen run is how every character had their own unique personality. There was always a story for every character, and no one got lost in the shuffle--even when they added guest stars like the Subs or Dev-Em to an issue. BTW, for all LSH fans: who was your favorite male & female character? My favorite male character was Cosmic Boy, and my favorite female character was Dawnstar. But you can't go wrong with a roster that also has Timber Wolf, Wildfire, Sun Boy, Star Boy, etc.

LSH male favs were Wildfire (ERG-1), Ultra Boy and Ferro Lad. Women probably Duo Damsel (Triplicate Girl), Phantom Lass and Princess Projectra. Whole lineup then was solid. I remember being pissed when Dave Cockrum left to draw the X-Men reboot. But then Mike Grell showed up and everything was cool.

I never could never get into DC, as the creativity seemed lacking compared to Marvel. IMO
EVERYONE was named Man, Woman, Boy, Girl, Ladd or Lass.
This is what made the Flash and Green Lantern stand out to me.

Random comic title post: I went and got all of the Doc Savage appearances and comics he had in Marvel. Mid 70s. His own title 1-8, then a b&w magazine 1-8. He was in Giant-Size Spiderman #3 and Marvel Two in One #21. There's a lot of the old Pulp heroes I like (Shadow, etc.).
I'm going through and seeing how close I am to a full run of the first What If? series which I always loved. I have a pretty good copy of #31 What If Wolverine had killed the Hulk.

I'd vote for Brainiac 5. Never sure if he might snap and go super villain. Kind-of liked Shadow Lass on the female side. Really partial to the Legion of Substitute Heroes.
Maybe on Saturday we can have a breakaway side room and chat comics?

I'll always have a soft spot for Polar Boy especially.
I definitely liked Triplicate Girl (less as Duo Damsel...three simply beats two) on the ladies side.
