Speaking of expansion ESPN has a story up about it and it seems that growing to 32 is just a matter of when not if. Yeah, I raed that article today too during my lunch break. It sounds like Nashville and Salt Lake City at the moment are the two leading contenders. Baseball Commissioner Rob Manfred did say last week though when he announced his retirement for January 2029 that he does not expect the next two teams to start playing during his tenure but he also said that the expansion process may be underway by that time.

Could Nashville be another possible landing spot for the A's for the next few years? It would be best for MLB for the A's to play in Salt Lake City, Nashville or even both. Gives them more info on how an MLB team would do and they would not have to promise Oakland anything. I checked and Nashville has First Horizon Park and it holds between 8500 to 10,000 people Which is what the A's are probably used to seeing these days. Both cities also have college parks that maybe they could use. Either way, I doubt the A's would need more seating than they can get right now.

I was at first a little surprised until I found out that by going to Sacramento the As are able to retain their current media deal which is worth much more than the media deal they would have in the Salt Lake City market as in Sacramento the As games will continue to be televised on NBC Sports California in San Francisco, Oakland, San Jose, and Sacramento. The As also announced today they may play one or two regular seasons/year in Las Vegas at Las Vegas Ballpark (the local AAA ballpark) and will continue to play some Spring Training games in Las Vegas until they move here full time in 2028. It was also reported today that after this season the As will have no city designation (they will just be listed as the Athletics in the standings) until they become the full time Las Vegas As once their stadium here is built. I have been to the Sacramento AAA ballpark where Oakland will be playing most of their home games the next 3 seasons and I honestly think it is nicer than the Oakland As current venue (which I have also been to) but not nicer than Las Vegas Ballpark just down the street from me.

I figured there were good reasons. It was just a surprise to me as I had not seen Sacramento mentioned in any stories until the deal was announced.

It will be interesting to see how they manage co-habituating with the Giants triple-A affiliate. I mean, from a maintenance and grounds-keeping prospective it seems like it's going to be a hell of a challenge.

I mean, from a maintenance and grounds-keeping prospective it seems like it's going to be a hell of a challenge. From a time and effort perspective it will not be hard. The AAA team does it around their games and the A's crew around their games. The only issue is not too much wear and tear.

One of the things they were blasting the owner(s) about was the maintenance people being screwed.
