Cards 14 and 15: House shows, reported on by Freddie Blassie
BCW Tag Team Non-Title Match
The Road Warriors (c) (w/ Paul Ellering) and The Midnight Express (w/ Jim Cornette) (Eaton/Lane) fight to a DOUBLE DQ as a battle of all 4 men cannot be contained and the ref is forced to stop the action. A good match overall, but not the win the Express was looking for. ***
Frank Gotch (w/ Jim Cornette) defeats Ted Dibiase by DQ when Virgil interferes in the match. A pretty good match, back and forth. Dibiase locked on 2 MILLION DOLLAR SLEEPERS, but Gotch escaped both times. Gotch got on the GOTCH TOEHOLD, but Dibiase went to the ropes. A very competitive match. ***
The Destroyer (w/ Virgil) defeats Brutus Beefcake by submission with the FIGURE FOUR LEGLOCK. Beefcake dominated early, but the Destroyer got him to tap out when he applied his finisher the 2nd time. ***
The Blond Bombers (Buddy Rose and Larry Sharpe) defeat The Valiants by pinfall. The Valiants controlled almost the whole match. Johnny went to the top rope to finish off Sharpe. He hits the TOP ROPE ELBOW, and Sharpe is in serious trouble. Rose tries to help him, but Jimmy cuts him off. The referee is trying to get Jimmy back to the corner when Rose drops the elbow on the back of Johnny's head. He turns him over and puts Sharpe on top. The referee goes over and counts to 3 and the Bombers have the upset win. ****
Nick Bockwinkel defeats George South by submission with the BOCKWINKEL SLEEPER. A pretty good match, South held his own. Bockwinkel, his first action since his injury, was still injured for this match, but he felt he needed a tune up for the PPV. It took 3 tries of applying the finisher, but South eventually went nite nite. ***
Bobo Brazil and Jimmy Snuka defeat Buff Bagwell and Konnan when Snuka hits his SUPERFLY LEAP on Bagwell. A very good match, but Snuka was the one to hit his big move to take the victory. ***
The Iron Sheik (w/ Nikita Breznikov) defeats Virgil by submission with the CAMEL CLUTCH. Iron Sheik had little problem with Virgil in this one. Volkoff came within an eyelash of losing to Virgil in their last match. The Iron Sheik is visibly proud of this win as he struts around the ring. Was this a shot at Volkoff? *
BCW XTREME CHAMPIONSHIP NON-TITLE MATCH
Sabu defeats The Sandman (c) by DQ when The Sandman gets caught using the SINGAPORE CANE. Sabu almost had a clean win in this one, but he missed his TRIPLE MOONSAULT, and then immediately after that, The Sandman went for the cane. ***
BCW WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP NON-TITLE MATCH
Buddy Rogers (c) defeats Hacksaw Jim Duggan by pinfall with a series of DROPKICKS. Rogers had no trouble disposing of Duggan in this one, and looks primed and ready for INVASION. *
Johnny Valentine defeats Cousin Luke by pinfall with the ATOMIC SKULLCRUSHER. He had to apply it 3 times, but he finally got Luke. He looks sharp as well. **
Ox Baker defeats Harley Race by pinfall with the HEART PUNCH. Ever since I badmouthed this guy on NITRO, he has become the beast I always knew he could be. A heck of a match, with Ox kicking out of 2 PILEDRIVERS. Race is lucky he didnt end up getting hurt in this one. ****
MATCH FOR A BCW CONTRACT
Danny Doring defeats The Missing Link by DQ when Link hits Doring with a steel chair. When Doring came to, he was very happy he had a job. They handed him the contract, but he did not sign it as he left the arena. Link was clearly dejected in his loss. **
Blassie: Some really good matches in this one. A stunning win for both the Blond Bombers and for Ox Baker. Race looked so good since he has been back, but Baker got a "lucky punch" in to stop him cold. Brazil and Snuka got a much needed win heading into INVASION. Pretty good cards overall. Monsoon, you have some news for the people before we head out?
Monsoon: The BCW is proud to announce the signings of Timber, Justin Credible, Steve Corino, and Konnan. Savage T was offered a contract, but he declined. As of now, Doring has not signed the BCW contract, so I'm not sure if he is with us or not. Even though he won the contract! Well, we are off! Cya on NITRO!
