Card 04 “Strive to Survive” Brantford Civic Centre, Brantford, Ontario – 04/16/09
Match 1: Killer Bees v. Jimmy & Johnny Valiant After being the faces by default last card, the Valiant Brother are back to drawing heat once again. Jim Brunzell dominates the opening moments against both Valiant Brothers but a double clothesline stops him in his tracks. B. Brian Blair is able to turn things around and traps Jimmy Valiant in a SLEEPER for a near win (R7/P3). Blair does not let up and catches Valiant with a slingshot in the corner followed by another SLEEPER hold. Valiant escapes (R11/P4) but the Bees execute a double atomic drop for a near fall (R9/P5). Johnny saves Jimmy from BEE STING and starts a wild brawl in the ring. The Bees clean house with dropkicks. Brunzell hits Jimmy with a deathjump double hammer followed by a KILLER DROPKICK. Blair blocks Johnny but Jimmy is able to kick out at 2 (R11/P8). Johnny is finally able to tag back into the match and downs Blair with a kick to the groin for a near fall (R7/P4). Johnny chokes Blair with the tag rope and then covers him for the pin (R2/P5) completing the comeback victory. Snake Eyes Strikes!
Match 2: The Sandman v. Ox Baker Sandman demanded a rematch from last card and Baker was all to happy to sign the contract. Great pop for Sandman who lights one up and then cracks a cold one with his skull. The action quickly spills to ringside when Sandman ducks Baker’s charge into the corner sending Baker toppling through the ropes to the floor. Sandman is outside and the crowd is on their feet. Baker eats the steel rails at ringside and comes up bloody. The bell sounds and Sandman has been disqualified. Neither man cares and tear into each other at ringside. Security is needed to break things up. The crowd loves it.
Match 3: Bobo Brazil v. Killer Kowalski Brazil is easily one of the most popular wrestlers in the PWO and takes several minutes to greet his fans at ringside. Kowalski overpowers Brazil with an overhead body slam and proceeds to dominate the action. Brazil escapes a FACE CLAW (R9/P3) before a deathjump cross body block nearly ends the match (R4/P2). Kowalski mounts the corner for a bombs away knee drop and Brazil manages to kick out again (R8/P3). Brazil sends Kowalski into the ropes and both men go for a clothesline and collide in the middle of the ring. Brazil is up first and strikes with a COCO BUTT for his first pin attempt (R9/P3). Brazil shows he can use the buckles and connects with a deathjump clothesline. Brazil follows with another COCO BUTT for the pin and the crowd explodes (R3/P5).
Match 4: Jimmy Snuka v. Playboy Buddy Rose Rose demands to be announced at 217 pounds instead of 271 pounds drawing great heat from the crowd. Snuka spots a sign at ringside that says “Doughboy Buddy Rose” and brings it into the ring. The fans respond with a doughboy chant and Rose is livid. Rose shows he is no slouch and connects with a flying shoulder ram off the ropes and then hits a brainbuster for a near fall (R6/P3). A head butt stops Rose and Superfly takes over the bout. A deathjump cross body block puts Rose down for a 1 count (R10/P3) before Snuka hits a SUPERFLY LEAP (3) for the win (R3/P7).
Johnny & Greg Valentine are the guests on the Hotseat with Bill Apter. Apter’s questions seem to divide the Valentines with each blaming the other for there recent lack of success. Suddenly, the Valiant Brothers come to the ring and interrupt demanding the interview time. Jimmy sucker punches Greg Valentine knocking over Apter in the process. It is chaos in the ring and the Valiant Brothers quickly flee ringside drawing great heat.
Match 5: Road Warriors v. Midnight Express w/Jim Cornette Great heat for Cornette as he works the crowd at ringside. Stan Lane blocks Hawk’s arm drag and whips Hawk into the corner. Hawk ducks out and Lane crashes into the buckles hard. Hawk quickly rolls up Lane for the three count (R2/P3). Lane is bitten by Snake Eyes! The crowd is roaring and Cornette is almost in tears.
Match 6: Buddy Rogers v. Harley Race Rogers struts around the ring and jaws with the fans drawing huge heat. Race is all business during the introductions. Race sets the early pace but Rogers avoids a charge to the corner and tries to roll up Race for the quick win without success (R11/P2). Race then counters Rogers’ charge into the corner with a backdrop and Rogers crashes to the floor and comes up limping. Race goes after the leg with an Indian Deathlock but Rogers escapes (R9/P1). Race crushes Rogers with a chokeslam and then rocks him with a PILEDRIVER for a near fall (R8/P5). Race works over Rogers in and out of the ring including a falling headbutt at ringside that rocks the crowd. Race nearly sneaks a pin with a roll up after Rogers collides with the buckles (R7/P3). Rogers strikes with a series of dropkicks out of nowhere for a near fall (R8/P3) and then Race becomes trapped in the ropes. Rogers goes to work on his helpless opponent but the referee gets caught up in the action and goes down. The bell sounds and Rogers has been disqualified for knocking down the referee. PWO officials arrive to break up the action and Race has his first PWO win.
Match 7: Survivor Match – Giant Baba, Red Bastien & The Destroyer v. Ted DiBiase, King Kong Bundy & Gorgeous George w/Cherie Dupré & Virgil George takes several minutes “preparing” at ringside drawing great heat. DiBiase then cuts a promo and pays a fan to polish his boots and the fans are ready to kill him. It is back and forth with both sides making smart tags. Destroyer traps DiBiase in a figure four leglock (ch). DiBiase reverses but Destroyer reverses back into a FIGURE FOUR LEGLOCK and DiBiase has to grab the ropes to escape (R5/P4). Destroyer takes the match to the floor and Virgil joins DiBiase for a double team beat down on Destroyer. The referee calls for the bell and disqualifies DiBiase. The second fall starts sloppy and both sides struggle to get something going. Bastien finally sees some action. Dupré tries to trip Destroyer which sets up an inside cradle by George for 1 count (R9/P2). George follows with a SPINNING TOE HOLD which forces Destroyer to grab the ropes (R6/P4). George drags Destroyer to the middle of the ring and applies another SPINNING TOE HOLD but again Destroyer struggles to the ropes (R7/P5). A figure four leglock forces Destroyer outside and George follows starting a brawl that circles the ring. Destroyer gets the better of it and tags in Baba who rams George’s face into the steel rails at ringside. George is able to tag in Bundy and the two big men trade blows. A Baba Chop sends Bundy to ringside and Baba follows him out. Baba cracks Bundy with a chair across the back. Baba comes off the top of the buckles with a deathjump chop and Bundy is in trouble. NECKBREAKER DROP and it is three against one (R7/P7). George looks scared to death but goes to work first against Bastien then the Destroyer. George is beaten pillar to post but Dupré’s interference allows George to trap Destroyer in a SPINNING TOE HOLD. Destroyer escapes (R10/P6). Baba turns things around for his side with a power attack and puts George down with a Baba Chop for a 1 count (R10/P2). Baba goes to the top of the corner for a deathjump knee drop but misses and crashes to the mat. George covers Baba for a 2 count (R5/P2). Baba manages to whip George into the ropes but George rebounds with a cross body block for a 1 count (R9/P3). Baba wins a brawl at ringside and Destroyer tags into the action with a single leg Boston Crab that forces George to leave the ring. Destroyer comes out after him and George whips Destroyer into the ringpost. Dupré does not distract the referee and George is disqualified.
Match 8: PWO Tag Team Title Match – Foreign Legion w/Nikita Breznikov (ch) v. The Last of the Famous International Playboys The Foreign Legion draw massif heat with their pre-match mic work. Nikolai Volkoff and Iron Sheik set the early pace keeping the Playboys on defense. Sheik traps Brutus Beefcake in a Boston Crab but Beefcake powers out (R10/P3) but Sheik quickly applies a CAMEL CLUTCH and Beefcake cannot break free (R4/P6) and the Foreign Legion easily retains the Tag Team Titles.
Match 9: PWO Title Match – Frank Gotch (ch) v. Nick Bockwinkel Gotch receives a modest pop during the introductions. Bockwinkel could care less about the fans and seems focused on the match at hand. Bockwinkel holds an early advantage including an impressive powerbomb (ch) that sends Gotch to the floor. Gotch grabs the ropes to escape a BOCKWINKEL SLEEPER (R5/P3). Gotch is in trouble but manages to duck Bockwinkel’s charge in the corner sending Bockwinkel tumbling to the floor. The advantage is short lived as Bockwinkel resumes control and works over the champions back with a Boston Crab, powerbomb (ch) and back suplex for a 1 count (R6/P2). Bockwinkel chokes Gotch on the ropes and sends him to the mat with a back suplex. Bockwinkel ends the match with a piledriver (R3/P3) and is your new PWO Champion!

Up next....
PWO continues its run at the Civic Centre with a huge triple main event. First, the Road Warriors look to capture the PWO Tag Team Titles from the Foreign Legion. Will the Warriors be able to build on their win over Iron Sheik & Nikolai Volkoff in January and take home the titles? Next, new PWO Champion Nick Bockwinkel makes his first defense against the man he beat for the title, Frank Gotch. Finally, in a rematch from Strive to Survive, the team of Ted DiBiase, Gorgeous George & King Kong Bundy battle Giant Baba, Red Bastien & The Destroyer inside a steel cage! Plus in rematches from last month, Harley Race faces Buddy Rogers, Ox Baker meets The Sandman and the Killer Bees take on the Valiant Brothers. Plus more action for a total of 9 all star bouts.

Card 05 “Steel Cage Showdown” Brantford Civic Centre, Brantford, Ontario – 05/21/09
Match 1: Playboy Buddy Rose v. Bobo Brazil The doughboy chant starts early and drives Rose nuts. Classic stuff from Rose. Brazil is greeted with a thunderous ovation and goes to work at the bell catching Rose with a deathjump cross body block for a near fall very early on (R6/P3). Brazil takes the action to the floor and the two men tear up ringside. Back inside, Brazil takes flight again with a cross body block deathjump for a 2 count (R7/P4). Brazil dominates the action until Rose drags Brazil to the floor and whips him into the steel ring pole. The fans are all over the referee but the advantage is short lived and Brazil is quickly back on top. Brazil catches Rose with an elbow to the face in the corner and drops Rose with COCO BUTT for a 2 count (R8/P5). Rose finally makes his comeback and takes the fight to Rose including three brainbusters. Brazil kicks out of the cover (R4/P1) and then rolls to the floor to escapes sleeper hold. Rose holds on to the hold at ringside and Brazil backs into the ring post crushing Rose. The bell sounds the referee has disqualified Brazil. The fans hate the call and Brazil cannot believe it.
Match 2: Killer Bees v. Jimmy & Johnny Valiant Two teams headed in the opposite directions met in a rematch from last card. The Bees are looking for their first win and the Valiant’s Brothers are being considered for the next shot at the PWO Tag Team Titles. B. Brian Blair takes the fight to Jimmy Valiant early on but Valiant turns things around ramming Blair into the ring pole and busting him wide open. The referee lets the action continue and Valiant tries to put away Blair with a SUPER ELBOW (R11/P5). Johnny tags in and batters a bloody Blair including rebounding Blair into a pair of clotheslines. Brunzell hot tags into the match and is involved in mid ring collision with Valiant when both men go for a clothesline. Brunzell recovers first and downs Johnny with a KILLER DROPKICK (R6/P5) for a near fall. Jimmy is able to tag into the action and takes out Brunzell with a pair of head slams to post busting him open. The Valiant Brothers strike with a double clothesline and Jimmy covers Brunzell for a 2 ½ count (R5/P4). Johnny is in against Brunzell when both Bees pull out masked and it is MASKED CONFUSION. Killer Bee #1 catches Johnny in a SLEEPER that forces him to grab the ropes to survive (R6/P5). BEE STING. Killer Bee #1 takes out Jimmy and Killer Bee #2 make the cover for the come from behind win (R7/P7).
Match 3: Midnight Express w/Jim Cornette v. Johnny & Greg Valentine Huge heat for Cornette as he works the crowd from ringside. Johnny Valentine does not mess around and quickly downs Stan Lane with a big chop to chest and follows with an ATOMIC SKULLCRUSHER for a 2 count (R6/P3). Lane catches Valentine on the top rope and tosses Valentine to the mat. Eaton is in and the action goes outside and Valentine quickly regains control. Greg tags and works over Eaton with a series of Valentine chops and then covers Eaton for the shocking three count (R2/P3) Snake Eyes Strikes Again! Cornette cannot believe his misfortune as his team is bitten two cards in a row!
Match 4: Ox Baker v. The Sandman The crowd is on their feet for this one from the opening bell. Baker opens with a choke slam (ch) and the action takes off from there. Sandman with a Heinekenrana for a 2 count (R6/P4). Sandman follows with a HARDCORE DTT for a 1 count (R9/P5). Sandman takes the action to the floor and the fans explode. Baker eats the rails and comes up bleeding. Sandman mounts the corner and falls onto Baker at ringside sending both men crashing into the ringside rails. Sandman is able to crawl back under the ropes at the count of 9 but Baker cannot make it and is counted out of the ring. When Baker does make it back inside and Sandman drops him with a SINGAPORE CANE shot.
The Last of the Famous International Playboys are Bill Apter’s guest on the Hot Seat. Apter gets the Playboys to talk about their recent successes and misfortune in not capturing the PWO Tag Team Titles last month. They tell us that with the fans support they will get back there again.
Match 5: Killer Kowalski v. Jimmy Snuka Huge pop for the Superfly during the introductions. Kowalski quickly grounds Snuka and keeps the action on the mat with his power advantage. A shoulder breaker gives Kowalski the first near fall (R6/P3). Kowalski traps Snuka in a FACE CLAW for the huge win (R2/P6). Snake eyes strikes twice in one night!
Match 6: Buddy Rogers v. Harley Race Rogers works the crowd for heat during the introductions while Race is stone faced. Rogers starts quickly and traps Race in a figure four leglock (ch) and lands a jumping knee smash for a 1 count (R9/P2) Race grabs the ropes to escape a FIGURE FOUR GRAPEVINE (R9/P7). Race is in trouble but manages to kick Rogers off during a figure four leglock (ch) attempt and the match turns. A diving headbutt gives Race his first pin attempt (R8/P1). Race overpowers Rogers including a vertical suplex for a 1 count (R11/P2). Both men trade the advantage back and forth exchanging punishing moves in and out of the ring. Race avoids Rogers’ double hammer at ringside and when the action returns to the ring, Race plants Rogers with a PILEDRIVER. Rogers lifts his shoulder at the last second (R7/P6). Race connects with a deathjump clothesline but Rogers is able to trip up Race from outside and rams Race’s leg off the ring post. FIGURE FOUR GRAPEVINE. Race pulls himself towards the ropes but comes up just short and blacks out (R8/P8).
Match 7: PWO Tag Team Title Match – Foreign Legion w/Nikita Breznikov v. Road Warriors The champions work the crowd on the mic and draw fantastic heat. The Warriors punish Iron Sheik from the opening bell including a spike piledriver. Hawk rams Sheik’s head into the steel rails busting him open but Sheik is able to turn things around, Irish whipping Hawk into the ring post. Both teams are able to make tags and the Warriors crush Nikolai Volkoff with a spike piledriver. The action goes back and forth with a series of tags by both teams. Hawk counters a big boot to the face with a running clothesline. The Warriors down Volkoff with a double clothesline. Hawk makes the cover while Animal ties up Sheik and Volkoff kicks out at 2 (R7/P5). Things even out until Sheik spits at Hawk and the Warriors explode with level two offenses. Both teams make defensive tags and the action slows down. At one point Animal press slams Volkoff from ringside back into the ring. Volkoff is able to catch Hawk with a Russian Bear Hug. Sheik tags in and applies a Boston Crab that forces the Warrior to the floor. Hawk drags Sheik to ringside and whips him into the ring pole. The battle continues at ringside when the bell sounds. The referee disqualified Hawk. The Warriors are furious and chase the official from the ring. Wisely, the champions had already fled ringside with the PWO Tag Team Belts in hand.
Match 8: PWO Title Match – Nick Bockwinkel (ch) v. Frank Gotch The fans get behind Gotch during the introductions. Bockwinkel quickly takes control and a back suplex forces Gotch to take a breather at ringside. Bockwinkel comes out and rams Gotch’s face into the ringside rails. The bell sounds and the Champion has been disqualified. The fans hate the call and show their displeasure by filling the ring with trash. Good thing there is a cage match on top tonight so the fans have a chance to go home happy.
Match 9: Cage Match – The Destroyer, Giant Baba & Red Bastien v. Ted DiBiase, King Kong Bundy & Gorgeous George w/Cherie Dupré & Virgil. DiBiase leads his team into the cage drawing solid heat. George is hesitant to step into the cage over concerns his face may get damaged. DiBiase tells George he is being well paid to be part of the Million Dollar Team and to get into the ring. George refuses and Virgil attacks George at ringside tossing him into the ring. DiBiase and Bundy beat down George and Bundy strikes with a pair of AVALANCHES. DiBiase stuff a wad of bills into George’s mouth before George is carted away on a stretcher. Virgil steps into the cage and is apparently taking George’s place in the match. Bundy sends Destroyer into the ropes in the opening moments and Destroyer rebounds with a cross body block that downs Bundy for a 1 count (R9/P5). Destroyer mounts the corner for a deathjump smash but Bundy rolls clear and Destroyer crashes to the mat. Bundy cover for a 2 ½ count (R5/P4). This one does not look like it will last ten moves! DiBiase tags in and works over Destroyer including a vertical suplex for another near fall (R9/P5). Destroyer is able to avoid a knee to the gut and Bastien hot tags into the action. Bastien with an elbow drop followed by a flying head scissors that takes DiBiase to the mat. Bastien cradles DiBiase for the surprise three count (R2/P3). Snake eyes strikes for the 3rd time tonight! DiBiase is all over Virgil after the match for not breaking up the cover.

Up next, the PWO heads down highway 403 to London Ontario for its first card outside of Brant County. In the main event, Frank Gotch gets another opportunity to recapture the PWO Title from Nick Bockwinkel after their bout last month was cut short by a controversial disqualification. As well, in the co-main event, Giant Baba & The Destroyer look to build on their momentum from last months steel cage win when they face PWO Tag Team Champions Foreign Legion who have been on an impressive roll since winning the titles. Two of the federations hottest feuds continue in London when the Killer Bees face the Valiant Brothers and Ox Baker takes on The Sandman in a Texas Death Match. As well, Harley Race looks to get one back against Buddy Rogers. Also appearing will be Johnny Valentine, Red Bastien, Midnight Express, Ted DiBiase and others. Nine matches in all.
