In a move that has stunned PWO officials, Giant Baba has left Canada with the PWO Title in hand and returned to Japan where it was just announced that Baba will defend the Title against fellow Japanese legend Antonio Inoki on September 12th in a dream match for Japanese fans. PWO officials are set to hold an emergency telephone conference in the next few hours to determine what course of action to take. Will Baba be stripped of the title? Will the PWO attempt to sanction the Title defense? Certainly that would draw the protest of Frank Gotch who has a return match with Baba already signed for September 17th. Will Baba return with the PWO Title and what will happen if Baba is defeated? The PWO now faces it first major crisis.

In a very narrow vote, the PWO Championship Committee voted in favour or sanctioning Giant Baba's title defense in Japan. Frank Gotch was furious after hearing the news as he was owed a return match with Baba and obviously felt he should have had the first opportunity to face the man who took the PWO title from him. While the PWO decides what to do about the Gotch situation, Baba is ready to put his newly won PWO Title on the line so lets get to the ring...
Sumo Hall, Tokyo, Japan 09/12/09:
PWO Title Match – Giant Baba (ch) v. Antonio Inoki Respectful ovation for both men during the introductions. Inoki works Baba to the mat quickly and connects with a top rope knee smash for a 1 count (R8/P2). Inoki strikes with an ENZUIGIRI for a near fall (R8/P4) and then Irish whips Baba into the steel rails at ringside. Baba finally is able to overpower Inoki and a Baba Chop puts Inoki down and sets up the NECKBREAKER DROP for a 2 count (R7/P5). The battle goes to the floor and Inoki reverses Baba’s Irish whip and Baba hits the ring post. Baba is busted open and Inoki tries to put him away with an ENZUIGIRI but Baba kicks out (R7/P5). It is back and forth now. Baba is a bloody mess. Inoki with a cobra twist but Baba grabs the ropes to escape (R7/P5). Inoki grabs Baba back into the ring and applies an OCTUPUS HOLD. Baba submits and Inoki is the new PWO Champion.
The PWO Championship Committee has their work cut out for them. First they need to get Inoki signed to an official PWO contract and then if they succeed in that, they need to determine who gets the first title shot. The action outside the ring continues to be as hot as the action inside.
