So much to love about this fed! WTF is Jerry Lynn doing signing autographs for the crowd when Bob Orton is lurking? Ken Doane as the flagbearer is a nice role- always liked Doane as a snarky heel. Blassie is a classic villain- the more I play his card, the more fun it is. Andre and Warlord have been feuding in my fed and it is clear that their animosity is not limited by territory nor booker. And of course, the two matches at the top of the card were gold. Fine work, sir!

Thanks for the nice comments Bookerbill, Crimson and Daytondave. The MSG shows are always fun to put together and snake eyes ran wild here. That is what led to the Andre injury angle. Thesz-Gotch was so much fun to roll out and really could have gone either way. Timber retaining was a big surprise as I was hoping DDP would be able to capture his first title in LOW. Jerry Lynn really got blindsided there as you noted DD. I picked Ken Doane for the flagbearer as he seemed like a perfect fit and The Sheepherders needed a third man to help them against the Samoan Island Tribe. Thanks again and I hope to have the next show up soon.

Great card! I imagined the oldschool dimly lit MSG when reading this. Stars & Stripes setting their eyes on Iron Sheik & Volkoff is the obvious progression and I'm looking forward to that feud escalating. Kenny was an unlikely pickup by The Sheepherders and although they lost, Kenny showed he's up for a fight during the post-match chaos. Admittedly, I know nothing about Timber. For that reason, my gut (and others' comments) tells me his Championship win over Hennig was a fluke and defeating DDP was a major upset. With that said, I like to root for underdogs! Wow, Albano's men did a number on Andre! You don't see that often and it shows that Albano, Warlord, and Valentine will do whatever it takes to show their dominance. When Sheik is around, a fireball is not far behind. After all the wild action on the undercard, you presented a professional wrestling match for the ages in the main event. Well done and well booked!

Thanks for that nice review, Spaceman, I really appreciate it. Next up we have action from the SWA coming to you from the famed Mid-South Coliseum in Memphis, TN...
LOW Southern Wrestling Alliance - Mid-South Coliseum - Memphis, TN (Card #836)
1) Jim Powers & Ricky Landell vs. Blonde Bombers was a DDQ: The night got off to a wild start as the ASW tandem of Jim Powers & Ricky Landell took on the Blonde Bombers (Chris Candido & Bobby Shane, with their manager “Elegant” Eddie Fyne). The Bombers dominated early with Candido scoring a near fall on Powers with a powerslam. Shane trapped Powers in the Japanese Sleeper but that was broken up by Landell. A strange development then took place as J.J. Dillon, noted for being both a wrestler and a manager, made his way to ringside in his ring gear to observe the action. Fyne was upset with the appearance of Dillon especially when he tried to yell in some advice to the Bombers. This one broke down on the outside with all four men battling, along with Fyne and Dillon arguing, and the end result was a double disqualification. The Bombers had to drag Fyne off post-match while Dillon remained behind for his scheduled in-ring debut with the SWA…
2) Hillbilly Jim defeated J.J. Dillon: It was a tall order for J.J. Dillon in his SWA debut as he took on the popular Hillbilly Jim, a native of Mud Lick, KY. Early action saw Jim dominate with the shoulder tackle and atomic drop. Dillon bounced back with an ax handle off the turnbuckle and a running kick. Big Jim recovered from the latter blow and wound up trapping Dillon in the Bearhug to score a submission victory. It was a fairly quick defeat for Dillon made even worse as “Elegant” Eddie Fyne showed up to taunt him. Dillon made a move towards him and Fyne quickly retreated back down the aisle.
3) Cousin Luke defeated Eddie Gilbert by DQ: The popular Cousin Luke from Hog Waller, TN, was looking to follow up the success of Hillbilly Jim with a win of his own as he took on “Hot Stuff” Eddie Gilbert of the House of Humperdink. With manager Sir Oliver Humperdink watching at ringside, the early action was dominated by Gilbert as he trapped Luke in the painful figure four leglock. Gilbert kept up his attack until Luke stunned him with a bodyslam followed by a two fisted sledgehammer. He subsequently nailed Gilbert with a splash into the corner and covered him for a two count. Gilbert was frustrated and took it to the outside where he was disqualified for hitting Luke with the kendo stick carried by Humperdink. He didn’t stop there as he took it back inside and delivered the Hot Shot to Luke before tossing a Fireball in his face! Luke fell to the mat in pain as Gilbert and Humperdink gleefully observed the damage that had been done. The two then bailed out of the ring as Hillbilly Jim and LOW officials charged in to prevent any further damage. Local reporters caught up with Jim backstage and learned that Luke suffered serious burns to his face and will be out of action for several weeks. As a result it was Jim challenging Gilbert to face him in a No DQ Match on the next SWA card hoping to avenge the injury suffered by his cousin.
4) Bob Armstrong, Brad Armstrong, & Tracy Smothers defeated Bob Roop, Mike Graham, & Brian Blair: The craziness of the prior matches was put on hold as “Bullet” Bob Armstrong, Brad Armstrong, & Tracy Smothers joined forces to take on Bob Roop, Mike Graham, & Brian Blair in a match that promised to feature spirited competition between six fan favorites. The competition was pretty fierce whenever “Bullet” Bob and Roop went at it trading stiff shots back and forth. Armstrong caught Roop in the Sleeper Hold nearly putting him away but Graham made a timely save. Roop bounced back against Brad roughing up the younger Armstrong with the gut wrench backbreaker and spinning neckbreaker. Brad gained some revenge catching Roop with a dropkick for a near fall. Graham and Blair both looked pretty solid during their time in including Graham scoring a near fall on Brad with a cross bodyblock. The finish saw the fired up Smothers win out in a battle with Roop before connecting with the Jawjacker to score the pin. The post-match saw all six men shaking hands though Roop had to be talked into shaking hands with “Bullet” Bob coming off their tense exchanges during the bout.
5) Blackjack Mulligan & Angelo Mosca defeated Kevin Sullivan & Lord Humongous by DQ: The war between Blackjack Mulligan and the House of Humperdink continued as Mulligan joined forces with Angelo “King Kong” Mosca to battle Kevin Sullivan & Lord Humungous who had Sir Oliver Humperdink in their corner. Sullivan jumped Mulligan during the ring introductions getting this one off to a wild start. Sullivan and Humongous dominated the early action particularly when they isolated Mosca. Humongous impressively lifted the Canadian star into an overhead choke and then laid him out with a big boot to the face. Sullivan also laid into Mosca with the Tree of Woe. Mulligan and Mosca battled back and “King Kong” blasted Sullivan with a Heart Punch knocking him out of the ring. It was out on the floor where this one was decided following an extensive battle which saw Sullivan disqualified when he hit Mulligan with a series of chair shots. Mosca and Humongous also got involved and all four men gave LOW officials a heck of a time as they tried to separate them.
6) Mil Mascaras defeated Buddy Rogers by DQ: A big special attraction match saw freelance star Mil Mascaras, a record seven-time LOW World Heavyweight champion, take on LOW Triple Crown winner “Nature Boy” Buddy Rogers who was accompanied by his manager “Elegant” Eddie Fyne. Mascaras was on top of his game here dominating the early action including hitting the Crossbody Attack several times. He had Rogers pinned at one point but Fyne provided a distraction breaking up the count at two. Rogers battled back and stunned Mascaras with an atomic drop which knocked him out of the ring. That led to the two battling on the floor and Mascaras gained the upper hand catching a charging Rogers with a backdrop. He looked to take it back inside but then suddenly it was J.J. Dillon showing up and hitting Mascaras from behind. The referee saw that and called for the bell giving Mascaras a disqualification victory. Fyne was outraged and began arguing with Dillon at ringside as a dazed Rogers got back to his feet. He got in between the two demanding to know what happened and Dillon blamed Fyne for hitting Mascaras. Rogers then questioned Fyne who argued in disbelief saying that it was Dillon who caused the disqualification. A disgusted Rogers walked off as Fyne began arguing with Dillon. It almost got physical before Fyne retreated with a smiling Dillon remaining at ringside.
●Jim Cornette and the Midnight Express (“Loverboy” Dennis Condrey & “Beautiful” Bobby Eaton) made their way to ringside prior to their scheduled match with the popular tandem of Magnum T.A. & “Wildfire” Tommy Rich. The verbose Cornette grabbed the mic and claimed that they had been attacked in the parking lot earlier by “masked assailants” and that Eaton had suffered an injury to his left shoulder which he revealed to be in a sling. Cornette said that the “masked cowards” could have been the Road Warriors, the Fabulous Kangaroos or even Magnum and Rich but that nothing would stop the Midnight Express from competing. He said that he was in a position to tag with Condrey and “beat up” Magnum and Rich but then decided that Mama Cornette would not approve of him soiling his hands. Instead he made a quick phone call to nearby Nashville, TN, and that a replacement for Eaton would be made in the form of original Midnight Express member “Ravishing” Randy Rose!
7) Midnight Express defeated Magnum T.A. & Tommy Rich: A thunderous ovation greeted former LOW World Heavyweight champion Magnum T.A. and Hendersonville, TN, native “Wildfire” Tommy Rich as they headed to the ring to face a revised version of the Midnight Express in “Loverboy” Dennis Condrey & “Ravishing” Randy Rose. Both Jim Cornette and the “injured” Bobby Eaton were at ringside for this one. T.A. and Rich did a great job of controlling the early action with Rich nearly pinning Rose with the Thesz Press. Magnum later caught Rose with the Belly to Belly Suplex but Cornette prevented a pin by distracting the referee. The Express rebounded with a strong attack and got the heat on Rich for an extended stretch. They connected with both the Double Goozle and the Human Cough Drop, which has Condrey dropping Rose with a legdrop on the opponent, for big near falls. That was followed up with the Rocket Launcher with Rose making the cover on Rich but Magnum made a last second save. Rich was busted open by this point and in a bad way with Magnum desperate to tag in. Cornette would get involved while the referee was distracted and he hit Rich with a Tennis Racquet shot to the head allowing Condrey to cover him for the pin. It was a controversial win for the Midnight Express made even more controversial as Eaton joined in the celebration appearing to have no signs of a shoulder injury. Cornette was overjoyed with the turn of events and now has a potential three-man version of the Midnight Express.
8) LOW International Heavyweight title: Harley Race© defeated Johnny Valentine to retain the title: An amazing main event saw Harley Race defend the LOW International Heavyweight title against the strong challenge of Johnny Valentine, a member of the House of Humperdink who had manager Sir Oliver Humperdink in his corner. The rugged Valentine is a former LOW International Heavyweight champion and in fact he beat Race for the belt (Card #93 in Washington, D.C.) so he was hoping lightning would strike twice here. Valentine set the pace early using the abdominal stretch twice on Race for submission chances. Race struck back with a devastating Piledriver that saw Humperdink distract the referee to prevent a pin. The two men then settled in for a brutal battle featuring forearm smashes, chops and headbutts exchanged with brutal force. Race caught Valentine with a diving headbutt for a near fall and followed up with the Piledriver but again Humperdink interfered. That led to the referee ejecting the red bearded manager from ringside to the delight of the crowd. Valentine was upset but he didn’t let it overtake him as he struck back at Race and hit the Atomic Skullcrusher for a big near fall. Further use of the abdominal stretch kept Race on the defensive until he was able to strike with a nice vertical suplex for a big near fall. Both men were near exhaustion when Race managed to trap Valentine in the Indian Deathlock in mid-ring. Valentine fought off the pain but was unable to counter out of the hold as Race repeatedly dropped backward applying more pressure. It got to be too much and with no means of escape Valentine was forced to concede giving Race the victory via submission. Race was successful in his version five defense of the title but there is no doubt that Valentine took him to the limit in a main event that will be remembered by LOW Fans for a long time to come.

You know I like seeing new tag team pairings and I like the Jim Powers and Ricky Landell tandem, but too bad they didn't win. Another loss is JJ Dillon, it'll be fun to see what's next between Dillon and Eddie Fyne. Overall another fun event and Harley Race is the man, it's good to see him with the victory...

Thanks for the comments Crimson, Kamala, and Daytondave. I have big plans for J.J. Dillon and Randy Rose in the SWA. Race vs. Valentine was really fun, a true classic. I hope to have another show posted soon. Have been really busy with unfortunately little time to roll the dice.

Hillbilly Jim could be in over his head in a No DQ match with Gilbert. Roop is a guy that could snap. I wouldn't mind seeing a very spirited singles match between him and Bullet. I really like the pairing of Mulligan and Mosca - and I can only imagine how physical that match was. Great finish to continue this story. Dillon is out stirring the pot, something he does best. Sounded like a lot of drama in the main event even after Humperdink was ejected. Quite a bit of DQ's on this card but a really nice main event and finish made up for it.
