Card 182: NWA Legends of Wrestling from Orlando, Fl (February 1)
The show starts with a recap of Clash of the Champions and the announcement that Mil Mascaras is still the World Champion. Jimmy Snuka will again defend the United States Championship due to the long line of challengers. And here’s another chance for you to get a look at Andre the Giant.
Bob Roop vs. Virgil: Virgil dominated and bloodied Roop but one SHOULDER BREAKER put Virgil down for the count.
Buff Bagwell vs. Chris Candido with Tammy: Bagwell survived a BLONDE BOMB and won with a BUFF BLOCKBUSTER!
Iron Sheik vs. Dan Severn: Sheik applied the CAMEL CLUTCH to win a solid match against “The Beast!”
Hacksaw Jim Duggan vs. Buddy Rose: The Playboy wins his comeback match with a BOMBS AWAY on Duggan.
Masked Superstar II vs. John Pesek: The debut of Pesek here. We’ve heard good things about this mat based grappler. He has a tough job against the monstrous Masked Superstar II. Superstar is alone because Cornette is on tour with the Midnight Express. We see where his priorities lie. Superstar II made good use of his strength advantage, but Pesek used a keylock for leverage and forced him down into a pin to win his debut.
Magnum T.A. vs. The Missing Link: Magnum continues to look good. Two BELLY TO BELLY SUPLEXES on the returning Link got him the win and put him in line for a US Title Match.
Andre the Giant vs. Brutus Beefcake: This is some task for the returning Brutus. Another totally dominant victory for Andre. He pinned Beefcake after a devastating BIG SPLASH! Andre would seem to be in line for a US Title match.
Main Event: United States Championship Match Don Leo Jonathan vs. Jimmy Snuka [C]: Snuka’s temper got the better of him as he was disqualified for putting Jonathan into the post on the floor. Still, the Title remains with Snuka and he and Jonathan shake hands after wards.

Press Release: Concerning Championship Point System.
The NWA Board has decided, in order to keep all top stars performing, that when a star earns his three points he must continue to take matches. Should he loose a match he also loses his Title shot and whoever beats him will gain the title shot, regardless of current points. This will take effect starting with next week’s LOW show.

Mike Quackenbush vs. Savage-T with KJ Hill: Quack took advantage of a missed dive to get the win by pinfall.
Yukon Eric vs. Buddy Rogers: Although Eric used his power to do some damage on Rogers, the FIGURE FOUR GRAPEVINE put Buddy back in the title hunt.
Claudio Castagnoli vs. Steve Corino: It took Castagnoli 4 RICOLA BOMBS to put Corino away.
Diamond Dallas Page vs. Nigel McGuinness: Page mounted no offence, but reversed a short-arm lariat into a DIAMOND CUTTER for the win. McGuinness was furious afterwards. Page earns a shot at the World Television Championship.

Cage Match Rob Van Dam vs. Sabu with Bill Alfanso: Sabu rallied after two Van Daminator’s and made RVD tap out to the Camel Clutch. Sabu then got a hold of a chair and beat Van Dam into unconsciousness. RVD is hurt for 4 cards.
Next week on Eastern Championship Wrestling the NWA World Heavyweight Champion Mil Mascaras will be in action. He will be defending the World Title against ECW’s own Tiger Mask. Can Tiger Mask become the lightest Champion in history? Tune in next week to ECW.
Main Event: World Television Championship Match Al Snow vs. Bryan Danielson [C] In a hard fought battle Al Snow scored somewhat of an upset by pinning Danielson with a SNOW PLOW to become the new World Television Champion! Is Snow the new face of ECW?

Card 184: NWA International from Tokyo, Japan (February 6)
Non-Televised Matches
Amish Roadkill with Danny Doring vs. Larry Zbyszko: Roadkill couldn’t do any real damage in his debut and was pinned by Zbyszko after a backbreaker.
Boris Zhukov with Nikita Breznikov vs. Bruiser Brody: Zhukov could not keep Brody down, but the wild man lost control on the floor and was disqualified. The crowd gave Brody a great ovation; they love him here in Japan. But that doesn’t help the fact that this is Brody’s third straight loss.
Tag Team Match The Valiant Brothers with Lou Albano vs. The Armstrongs: The Valiants made their return to the ring in a great match. Jimmy pinned Brad Armstrong after the TOP ROPE ELBOW!
Televised Matches
Whether you’re watching us live in Japan, around the world on Satellite, or you downloaded this show on the internet; welcome to the Tokyo Dome. Welcome to the first ever NWA International broadcast. We’ve got amazing wrestlers from around the world competing tonight including Japan’s favorite son, Rikidozan. We’re on the road to crowning the first NWA International Champion. Let’s go to the ring.
Johnny Valentine vs. Antonino Rocca: Valentine’s return went well. He repeatedly hit the former 2 time World Champion with the ATOMIC SKULLCRUSHER before making him submit to an abdominal stretch.
Larry Hennig vs. Ilio Dipaolo: With the new amendments to the point system, Dipaolo can’t lose before a number two contender is named. He’s defending that number one contender’s spot almost like the interim International Title. Dipaolo won with an AIRPLANE SPIN after Hennig took a huge amount of punishment.
Backstage Rick Rude: I can’t believe Bobby wouldn’t make this trip with us.
Curt Hennig: I can’t believe I’m chasing the tag team titles to be the only man to hold every NWA Title, and they go and make a new title on me. Now I’ve got double duty.
Rude: Worry about the International Title after there’s actually a Champion. One more shot at the Kangaroos and we’ll have those tag belts. Their first win was a fluke anyway.
Tag Team Match London & Kendrick vs. The Samoans: London and Kendrick used a flurry of moves to blindside the Samoans. London pinned Alofa with an ASSISTED SHOOTING STAR PRESS!
Giant Baba vs. Ox Baker: Baba survived a HEART PUNCH and easily put down Baker with a NECKBREAKER DROP, much to the crowd’s delight.
Hillbilly Jim vs. The French Angel: A double debut match. You know Jim’s Cousin Luke who competes in ECW back in the States. Jim dominated the early match but was then pinned after a body slam.
Tag Team Match The Road Warriors with Paul Ellering vs. The Midnight Express with Jim Cornette: This classic rivalry comes to Japan. The Road Warriors have been doing a ton of press and the Japanese media love these painted combatants. As “Iron Man” blares through the Tokyo Dome the crowd erupts to see them. So it was that much sweeter for The Midnight Express when they isolated Animal and quickly pinned him after the VEG-O-MATIC! Afterwards they dispose of Hawk and Ellering and perform double deathjumps on Animal. Animal is hurt for 2 cards and The Midnight Express are the number one contenders!
Bob Orton, Sr. vs. Rikidozan: After a highly competitive match Rikidozan beat Orton with a HIPLOCK!
Terry Gordy vs. Ivan Koloff: Gordy quickly put Koloff away with a PILEDRIVER!

Greg Valentine vs. Jim Londos: Counters abound as both men put on an amazing technical display for the studio audience. Multiple finishing moves were used but Londos finally won with an AIRPLANE SPIN!

Les Thatcher vs. Bob Roop: Roop beat the debuting Thatcher with a SHOULDER BREAKER!
John Pesek vs. Buddy Rose: Rose seemed to infuriate Pesek by dominating him early. Pesek turned the match around with punishing moves and won with his TIGER MAN TOEHOLD! The crowd seems to like Pesek but is certainly aware he will get dirty when he has to.
Buff Bagwell vs. Iron Sheik: Bagwell impressed everyone by dominating Sheik and winning after a second BUFF BLOCKBUSTER!
Backstage Bill Apter: Folks, I’m here with the new darling of the NWA, Andre the Giant. Andre you’re in line for a US Title shot and it may end up being against your friend Magnum T.A. How does this make you feel?
Andre the Giant: I’m not too worried about titles, Bill. I’m just here to entertain the people.
Bobby Heenan and Cowboy Bob Orton walk in.
Heenan: Andre, you have to face King Kong Bundy before you get that title shot. And I don’t think you can beat him. But I have a proposition for you. I want to manage you. Forget the US Title, I can get you to the World Title in no time!
Andre walks away.
Heenan: You’ll regret that, you big oaf. You don’t say no to Bobby “The Brain” Heenan
Orton: Did you see Roop’s match? I’m telling you, Bobby, you need to check this kid out.
Apter: Back to ringside, folks.
Cowboy Bob Orton with Bobby Heenan vs. Magnum T.A: Magnum immediately got the win with an abdominal stretch. Heenan berated Orton afterwards for loosing so quickly. “The Brain” isn’t having a good night.
Andre the Giant vs. King Kong Bundy with Bobby Heenan: Bundy traded even with the Giant. He looked to have pinned Andre after the AVALANCHE but demanded a 5 count. Andre fought back, but a second AVALANCHE got Bundy the win even with the 5 count. Heenan is ecstatic. Andre has been pinned. Bundy’s celebrating like he just won the World Title! Andre shakes his head, and honestly doesn’t look too worried about it. He said he was just here to entertain people and didn’t care about the win-loss record, but Bundy now takes his spot in line to challenge for the US Title.
Main Event: United States Heavyweight Championship Match George Hackenshmidt vs. Jimmy Snuka [C]: Snuka fought a great match, but couldn’t survive repeatedly being locked in the RUSSIAN BEAR HUG! Hackenschmidt captures his record third US Title.

Press Release (February 10)
Starting Tomorrow Night on ECW The universal no-disqualification rule will be detracted. The NWA board is simply uncomfortable with a World Title Match being held under no-disqualification rules simply because it is held on an ECW card. However, the NWA is on board with having ECW be the home of exciting and original wrestling concepts. ECW will continue to feature specialty matches every week. This week, in addition to the continuing best of 5 deathmatch series between RVD and Sabu, we will feature our first ever Lucha Libre rules tag match. In this match, in addition to normal tag rules, a wrestler is considered legal if his partner leaves the ring at all. This match was suggested by “Lightening” Mike Quackenbush and will feature himself and partner Jushin “Thunder” Liger vs. Larry Sweeny and Ultramantis Black.
We hope to continue to bring new concepts to the our NWA minor league and let these young wrestlers show why they are different than the mat based heavyweights the NWA and LWF has traditionally featured.

None of these men have teamed together before. Sweeny is still carrying that peculiar title belt. A good if not short match that saw lots of action. Liger and Quack win after a BRAINBUSTER from Liger puts UltraMantis down for the count.

Non-Televised Matches
Buddy Rose vs. Dan Severn: Severn toyed with Rose then pinned him after a shoulder slam.
Harley Race with Bobby Heenan vs. Bobo Brazil: Quite a match for the home audience only. Race and Brazil had a huge battle and neither could keep the advantage. Race used two straight PILEDRIVERS to get the win.
Televised Matches
We have another big US Title match for you tonight in the most hotly contested division in the NWA.
Iron Sheik vs. The Crusher Sheik easily put down Crusher with a CAMEL CLUTCH!
Les Thatcher vs. Ted DiBiase: Fans are surprised to see DiBiase back as The Million Dollar Man. Will it affect his ring performance? Les got no offence off as DiBiase quickly beat him down and put him out with the MILLION DOLLAR SLEEPER! DiBiase has the mic.
DiBiase: Everybody’s got a price for the Million Dollar Man. Over the past year I’ve paid that price back to myself. Forget the black glove. You’re looking at the next World Heavyweight Champion.
Andre the Giant vs. Gorgeous George with Cherie Dupree: Andre suffered a stunning loss last week. Feel sorry for George having to be the one facing him this week. George looks apprehensive. Andre happily lets Cherie spray him with perfume before the match, much to the crowd’s delight. After playing cat and mouse with George, allowing him to kick out of several pins, Andre took the match with a BIG SPLASH! Cherie looked terrified for George.
John Pesek vs. Hacksaw Jim Duggan: A very physical match. Again we see Pesek doesn’t mind getting dirty, and the fans weren’t as happy to see him use these tactics vs. a favorite like Duggan. Pesek locked on a double bar hammerlock and Duggan submitted.
Don Leo Jonathan vs. Jim Londos: Londos used his speed to stay ahead of Don Leo and get the win with an AIRPLANE SPIN!
Buff Bagwell vs. Bob Roop: Roop easily won after a gut wrench backbreaker. Roop moves into contention for the US Title.
Ed Lewis vs. King Kong Bundy with Bobby Heenan: After Bundy’s momentous win over Andre, he almost immediately tapped out to Lewis’s STRANGLER’S HEADLOCK! Lewis takes Bundy’s Title Shot!
Main Event: United States Championship Match Magnum T.A. vs. George Hackenshmdit [C]: In a great match both men gave it all. Magnum is definitely a future player here in the NWA but he couldn’t escape a twisting heel hook and Hackenschmidt retained.
