JR: This next one will be hard to keep track of. 6 men; only two in the ring at any one time. The winner gets a guaranteed contract for a Title Match of his choice.
JS: And a betting man would have to think it’d be the World Title, JR, but you never know. If Andre becomes Champion the winner here may attempt a more likely match rather than waste it against the Giant.
JR: Good point, Joey, but don’t discount any of these guys. Most have been Champions before; Hackenschmidt has been World Heavyweight Champion. Anything is possible.
Money in the Bank 6 man Elimination Match Ray Stevens vs. Dick Hutton vs. George Hackenshmidt vs. Rob Van Dam vs. Bruiser Brody vs. Jim Londos:
First Fall: All managers are banned from ringside for this match. We start with the former World Champion George Hackenschmidt and big Bruiser Brody. Both display their awesome strength and neither gets the advantage. Hack locks in a twisting heel hook which Brody escapes. Brody manages to string together some big power moves and his JUMPING KNEE DROP puts Hack out of the match before any tags were made. Hack had to be a favorite,, and it’s now anybody’s match.
Second Fall: The remaining competitors are arguing over who’s going to get in there with Brody. Finally RVD jumps in and looks more than ready for the task. Brody immediately counters a throw to the ropes with a piledriver and then hits the JUMPING KNEE DROP for the pin! Brody is on fire here. RVD can’t believe it.
Third Fall: In comes Jim Londos as JR reminds the fans that the wrestlers can tag out in this match. Brody tries a cover after a one handed slam but Landos is still in it. JUMPING KNEE DROP again, but Londos kicks out of a long two count and Brody doesn’t look so invincible anymore. Brody throws Londos to the floor a few times before delivering another huge JUMPING KNEE DROP! Londos again escapes, and now Brody tags in Dick Hutton. Suddenly we have a technical match as the two trade holds back and forth. Hutton locks in the ABDOMINAL STRETCH but Londos makes it to the ropes. They continue to mat wrestle with Hutton mostly in control. Londos gets a 2 count after a crotch lift and slam and then tags in Ray Stevens. Stevens throws Hutton from the ring and hits BOMBS AWAY as he’s coming back in, but only gets 2. Stevens immediately hits it again and still only gets 2. Another series of back and forth moves sets up a jumping knee smash and Stevens finally puts Hutton away.
Fourth Fall: Brody climbs back in and he seems to be the man to beat. Londos is bleeding on the apron but Stevens seems surprisingly fresh after his time against Hutton. Brody gets a 2 count after a one handed slam. Stevens gets the better of Brody on the floor, but back in the ring a JUMPING KNEE DROP puts Stevens out of the match.
Final Fall: It comes down to Londos and Brody. Londos uses all the speed he has and gets a Sleeper Grip locked in to no avail. Brody then escapes the AIRPLANE SPIN! Another 2 count after a crotch lift and slam. Give it to Londos, he’s not giving up. He drank his olive oil this morning. Another AIRPLANE SPIN and Jim Londos is Mr. Money in the Bank. He’s never been a World Champion, is now his time?

JS: I thought Brody had that for sure. I’m sorry to see RVD go out so quickly.
JR: Now think about this, Joey. Londos could cash that in tonight after the World Title Match.
JS: He could cash it in now, JR, but then he’d have to face Andre in the main event if he was lucky enough to beat Mascaras before that.
JR: Well, up next is the World Television Championship. “Diamond” Dallas Page defends against “Iron” Mike DiBiase.
JS: And although the Title is the top prize in ECW, neither man has been on much of a winning streak lately. With Quackenbush and Mantis waiting in the wings, I’m going to say that no matter who wins tonight they won’t be Champion much longer, and I know that’s an unpopular opinion.
JR: But fair, Joey. As you said Mantis has already beaten DiBiase and Page recently lost to Dirge, although he did beat Quack last Thursday. And has DiBiase won a match since being named Number One Contender a month ago? Whoever wins here tonight is going to have to seriously step up their game to stay on top of Eastern Championship Wrestling.
World Television Championship Match Mike DiBiase vs. Diamond Dallas Page [C]: Page dominated the early going and got a 2 count after a discus clothesline. The match then went back and forth with neither man gaining an advantage. DiBiase got a 2 count after a TOP ROPE KNEE DROP! DiBiase managed another one, which Page immediately kicked out of. But the third TOP ROPE KNEE DROP did the trick, keeping a bloody Page down and giving DiBiase the Title.

JR: Despite our earlier comments, I think that was a solid, competitive match.
JS: It sure was, JR. Congratulations to Mike DiBiase on his third World Television Championship. But this next one is going to be physical.
JR: Boy, that’s an understatement. Jimmy Snuka vs. John Pesek. Both men are cheered by the fans, but no fan would deny that Pesek can and will get dirty when he has to. If he tries that with Snuka will the fans turn on him?
JS: Not only that, JR, but let’s say he wins. What if Ed Lewis retains the US Title later tonight? These two are good friends and tremendous grapplers. What would that Title match be like?
JR: And would Pesek get dirty against his friend Lewis? But let’s not discount Snuka at all. He beat “Dr. Death” Steve Williams, someone I’m a big fan of, for the Title earlier this year in a match of the year candidate. He had the bad luck of facing Hackenschmidt in a defense, and there’s no shame in losing to the Russian Lion. But Snuka has got to want to get his hands back on the Championship.
JS: And he had successfully defended the Title 3 times in little over a month. Snuka is the real deal and Pesek can’t overlook him.
JR: But Pesek would be undefeated if not for getting himself disqualified against Hackenschmidt which many people feel set up Lewis’ Title win. So a lot of factors in this US Title picture which some have called the most competitive division in the NWA.
#1 Contender’s Match: United States Heavyweight Championship John Pesek vs. Jimmy Snuka: The match starts off back and forth. Snuka has the edge in speed and power but the Tiger Man seems to be able to pull reversals out of nowhere. A lateral press keylock get’s Pesek the first cover of the match, but Snuka easily kicks out. Pesek then starts pouring on the punishing moves but stops short of throwing Snuka from the ring. He throws him to the corner instead which sets up the TIGER MAN TOEHOLD and Snuka gives up. Pesek gets a quick and dominant win over the former Champion.

JR: Boy I think we’re looking at a future World Champion in Pesek. His dominance is scary. But I’ve been really looking forward to this one, Joey. You guys over in ECW put together this thing called the Young Lion’s Cup, and we have two great technical wrestlers in the finals. Anyone who knows JR knows this is the kind of wrestling I like. JS: It should be a great one, JR. “The American Dragon” Bryan Danielson is a former World Television Champion. He’s beaten former World Champion Nick Bockwinkel. Some fans already call him the best in the world. But Brent Albright is a game ground specialist who will not go easily. Only one man will get this beautiful Young Lion’s Cup.
Young Lion’s Cup Tournament Final Bryan Danielson vs. Brent Albright: Everyone is stunned as Danielson almost immediately locks in the CATTLE MUTILATION for the win. Bryan is the real deal, and Albright shakes his hand before Bryan holds up the Young Lion’s Cup for all to see. And Mean Gene Okerland is getting in the ring now.
Mean Gene: Bryan Danielson, congratulations. You are the first ever Young Lion’s Cup Winner. You’ve got that fabulous trophy. Have you anything to say?
Bryan: Thanks, Mean Gene. I just want to say that this is only the start for me. I’m not stopping here. I’ve already worn gold but I will wear more. “The American Dragon” is going to be a household name when I’m done.
Mean Gene: Well, here’s a little something to help you out on that quest. The NWA Board is giving you a one year guaranteed contract to compete in NWA Legends of Wrestling. Welcome to the big time, kid.
JR: Oh my God, we didn’t know the winner was going to get a major league contract!
Bryan: Mean Gene… I’m absolutely speechless. I’ll miss ECW; I think I had a great run there. There are plenty of guys I wish I had a chance to wrestle there. But I look forward to performing for these people every Monday night in the premier brand of the NWA. Thank you, Gene, thank you NWA, and most of all thank you fans. I won’t disappoint you.
JS: Well I hate to see the kid go, but that’s a huge for Bryan’s career and for you guys over at LOW.
JR: I’ll admit it, we got the better end of that deal. I can’t wait to see Bryan against the likes of the Iron Sheik, Bob Roop, Cowboy Bob Orton and even US Champion Ed Lewis. Should be some great matches in his future.
JS: But we need to get back to business. We’ve got the Killer Bees vs. the Armstrongs up next for a future shot at the Tag Team Championship.

#1 Contender’s Match: World Tag Team Championship The Killer Bees vs. The Armstrongs: Brunzell starts out against Brad, who makes frequent tags with his father. Brunzell escapes Bob’s SLEEPER and Brad’s RUSSIAN LEG SWEEP, but is hit hard by a 2 flying clotheslines from Brad and is busted open. After desperately escaping an abdominal stretch from Brad, Brunzell and Blair mask up and were not sure who is in the ring. It doesn’t seem to matter to Brad, who quickly recovers and uses a dropkick to get the pinfall on whichever Bee was in the ring. That’s a big win for The Armstrongs.

JR: We just keep on rolling, folks. This is another big one. Ilio Dipaolo was the only LWF International Champion. When the NWA bought the LWF they recognized him as Champion but did not keep the Title as an active Championship. Now the new NWA International Brand is bringing the Title back. Dipaolo gets the chance to have the glorious run as Champion he was denied by the bankruptcy of the LWF.
JS: But he’ll have to face former United States Champion Rikidozan, and that’s no easy task. Rikidozan is a ball of dynamite. For his size and build he is both incredibly strong and fast, and he’s a master technician in that ring. He routinely beats men twice his size. Whoever walks away as Champion will have earned it, of that I have no doubt.
JR: Rikdozan is in many ways the embodiment of Post War Japan. He is the smaller, more compact, more efficient Professional Wrestler. But he’ll contend with an Italian, 255 pound fighting machine in Ilio Dipaolo making this a truly International affair.
International Heavyweight Championship Match Ilio Dipaolo vs. Rikidozan: Rikidozan starts strong and works his way to a nearfall by HIPLOCK! Another quick series of moves gets a second HIPLOCK and second near fall, Dipaolo with no offence thus far. Dipaolo finally delivers a big shoulder block after being thrown to the ropes and then starts hitting the big moves. He stays in control and gets his first cover after some big right hands, but Rikidozan kicks out at 1. It’s obvious Dipaolo’s one advantage is his superior power. He comes close to a win with an AIRPLANE SPIN but Rikidozan escapes. Rikidozan hits a crossbody after being thrown to the ropes and gets a long 2 count. He then pours on the overhead chops to set up another HIPLOCK and this time get’s the three count. Your first NWA International Heavyweight Champion: Rikidozan!

JS: Up next is the United States Heavyweight Championship. Lewis is making his first defense since winning the title from George Hackenshmidt. He has to deal with the first ever two time World Champion, Ted DiBiase.
JR: The “Million Dollar Man” is as legit as it gets. He’s a 2 time World Champion, he’s crafty, he’s skilled, and he’s underhanded. He’s also responsible of the bankruptcy of the old LWF.
JS: And let’s not forget Virgil in his corner. There’s a lot for Lewis to contend with here. His first reign as united States Champion ended without a single successful defense, it’s not impossible for his second reign to go the same way.
United States Heavyweight Championship Match Ted DiBiase with Virgil vs. Ed Lewis [C]: Lewis starts in control, but goes to the corner once too often. DiBiase catches him with a boot to the face as he’s charging in. DiBiase makes an uncharacteristic climb to the top and Lewis ends up tied in the ropes after being hit by DiBiase’s flying body. Ted breaks clean; he knows a disqualification will get him nowhere. With Lewis free DiBiase hits a big power slam for the first near fall of the match. He does some damage with the MILLION DOLLAR SLEEPER then decides it’s too early and hits his backward elbow off the second rope. Lewis reverses a neckbreaker and goes on the offensive. He uses a series of takedowns and arm holds to stay in control. He maneuvers a double wristlock into a pinfall and get’s a long 2 count, DiBiase looks rattled. STRANGLER’S HEADLOCK! Lewis has it sunk in and is holding on tight. He’s not letting go, and DiBiase looks like he’s going under. Yes, DiBiase is out. Virgil tried buying time by distracting the referee but DiBiase simply could not break the hold. Ed Lewis remains your United States Champion.

JS: And now let’s go to the back where “Mean” Gene Okerland is waiting with Andre the Giant.
Gene: Andre the Giant, you have been nothing short of phenomenal since coming to the NWA. Tonight is your first shot at a Championship here. What are your thoughts?
Andre: It would be foolish to say I guarantee victory against someone like Mil Mascaras. He is a great Champion. One of the best we’ve ever had here. I will only say that I will try my best to with the Title. If I walk away with Championship, I will try to represent it with pride and defend it against all comers. I hope I can be half the Champion Mascaras has been.
Gene: There you have it. Humble as always, Andre the Giant. Let’s get back to ringside.
JR: Up next is a big one. Frank Gotch, who calls himself a wrestling machine and an American Hero takes on The Sheik at his own game.
JS: That’s right, a Falls Count Anywhere Match. Gotch gave the Sheik his choice of matches and that’s what was chosen. These two have had quite the feud as of late but neither has been overly successful against other opponents. This should be interesting.
Falls Count Anywhere Match Frank Gotch vs. The Sheik with Abdullah Farouk: Gotch immediately gets a crossface locked in but Sheik escapes. A forearm uppercut gets another near fall, Gotch is looking to end this early before it leaves the ring. He locks in the GOTCH TOEHOLD! Sheik is crawling and manages to get to the ropes. And now Gotch throws Sheik to the floor. He rams Sheik into the ringpost and throws him back in the ring. Gotch is using ground holds but then attempts a slam and the Sheik counters. Sheik screaming like a mad man is on the attack. He pulls a foreign object from his tights and stabs Gotch’s forehead. He throws Gotch to the floor and the two brawl all the way back to the locker room. Sheik slams him on the floor and goes for a pin. Gotch is out at 2. Gotch is up first and now he is controlling the brawl. They are out by the souvenir stand. Gotch throws Sheik into the booth and he collides with the salesman. The crowd is cheering as Gotch moves back to the ring and waits for Sheik to crawl back. Sheik renters the ring and is caught in a guillotine choke. He just barely escapes. Farouk jumps up on the apron and starts yelling at Gotch. Gotch gets in his face and Sheik ambushes him with a spike! Sheik throws him to the floor and pulls him up on the announce table. Piledriver, piledriver through the announcers table! Sheik pulls him out of the debris and rams him into the ringpost. Gotch is shaking it off. They start to brawl and head backstage. Where are they? They are in the restroom! GOTCH TOEHOLD on the restroom floor! And the Sheik is tapping out! Gotch won with a submission move on the restroom floor! Who could foresee that? Gotch is celebrating with the guys at the urinals!

JR: That match was all kinds of crazy.
JS: Now we have a special bonus women’s match for you.
Women’s Match Sara Del Rey vs. Penny Banner: Sara has turned things around since her initial long winless streak, but she’s never fared well against Penny. Penny steamrolls to a SUNSET FLIP and gets a 2 count. Sara stands up into another SUNSET FLIP and this time isn’t so lucky. It’s over just like that.
JR: Folks, we’re in the home stretch now. This next big match will determine the number one contender for the World Heavyweight Championship.
JS: Rude had been concentrating on tag wrestling with his friend Curt Hennig. But a random exhibition match saw him pin World Champion Mil Mascaras and he was thrown into the World Title picture.
JR: And you just knew Bobby Heenan wasn’t going to let that pass. He’s been gearing Rude to be the next Champion ever since. As far as Don Leo Jonathan, he just barely lost to Andre and otherwise would be facing Mascaras tonight. The NWA decided to give him another shot at it tonight.
#1 Contenders Match: World Heavyweight Championship Don Leo Jonathan vs. Rick Rude with Bobby Heenan: Don Leo immediately takes control. He brutalizes Rude until Rude ducks under a dropkick and takes control. There is a very long two count after a RUDE AWAKENING and this may end up being a quick match. Rude follows the RUDE AWAKENING with a piledriver and just like that is the new Number One Contender! Heenan is ecstatic!

JR: What about this next one, Joey. The Kangaroos have been unstoppable; 26 wins and 9 losses, 13 Successful Title Defenses, Champions for over a year and a half. They have shut down The Road Warriors several times and are the most successful Champions of any kind in our history.
JS: But last month they went to a double DQ against London and Kendrick in a Title defense, and the Championship Committee decided that the young kids deserved a rematch. What a Cinderella story it would be if London & Kendrick could become the Tag Team Champions of the World.
JR: London & Kendrick will have to worry about Red Berry as well. This could be a slaughter, or one for the ages.
World Tag Team Championship Match London & Kendrick vs. The Fabulous Kangaroos [C] with Red Berry: London immediately counters a throw to the ropes and hits the 450 SPLASH for a 2 count on Heffernan. He pours on the speed until Heffernan reverses a hammerlock to take control. London reverses his ground hold attempts and hits the dropsault and tags in Kendrick. Kendrick is flying and stomping all over. SLICED BREAD #2! Heffernan quickly kicks out but these kids are in his head. He needs to tag Costello. A beautiful reverse STO and enzuigiri combination by the Challengers and London is now the legal man. Heffernan comes off the ropes with a shoulder block and quickly tags out. Costello comes in with an Aussie Suplex and gets a long 2 count. Another near fall after a body block catapult, the Kangaroos are now showing their double team prowess. Costello misses a charge to the corner and London tags out. Costello just can’t keep up with Kendrick’s speed, he suffers a two count after a jumping heel kick! Kendrick with a long 2 count again after SLICED BREAD #2! Berry is irate. Another SLICED BREAD but this time Berry has referee Charles Robinson distracted at the apron. Kendrick had him there. Kendrick hits SLICED BREAD again but Costello somehow kicks out. This is why they are the Champions of the World. Kendrick hits a few strikes but Costello manages a tag out on defense. The Kangaroo’s manage some pure double team brawling before Costello leaves the ring. Now Kendrick is getting it from Heffernan. London is bloody on the apron, he may be done. Costello sneaks in for more double teaming and Heffernan gets a 2 count from it. BOOMERANG! Cover, 1… 2… Kendrick kicks out! London was coming in to make the save and didn’t make it, but Kendrick kicked out on his own. Costello with a Greek Cross and he gets another 2 count. Kendrick is bleeding now. But he comes off the ropes with a forearm. He tags in London. Dropsault, cover… 1… 2…
