Omni Auditorium, Atlanta. Georgia The show opens with the tune, "Another Thing Comin'" by Judas Priest playing overhead. EPICDAVE stands in the center of the ring, accompanied by LANCE RUSSELL & GORDON SOLIE. The Omni is packed with fans, chanting and clapping as the popular broadcast trio waves.EpicDave: Hey, fans! Welcome to
Heartland Havoc CXVIII: Another Thing Comin'! It is great to be here tonight in Atlanta, G-A with a terrific pay-per-view broadcast.
Solie: Indeed, the Omni is a revered setting for an event like this, and no question tonight's matches will add to its legacy.
Russell: We've got five championships on the line here tonight, and I especially can't wait for the
NWA World Heavyweight Championship match in our Main Event.
RIC FLAIR and
BRUNO SAMMARTINO are going to lock horns in what promises to be an instant classic.
EpicDave: You got that right! Every contest on tonight's show could easily be the Match of the Year. And the
Epic Sports Broadcasting Network is here to present all the live action to the great fans of the Heartland. So relax, grab yourself a cold one, and enjoy the show!
Southland Heavyweight ChampionshipTOMMY 'WILDFIRE' RICH (c) vs. 'DR. DEATH' STEVE WILLIAMSThe opening contest featured a spirited battle between two popular stars. Wildfire brought the heat, but was no match for the power of Dr. Death. After nailing Rich with a devastating football tackle, Williams planted Rich with a Belly-to-Belly Suplex to score the pin.
WINNER: 'DR. DEATH' STEVE WILLIAMS
STEVE WILLIAMS WINS THE SOUTHLAND HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP
Russell: Dr. Death is a powerhouse like no other. He just annihilated Tommy Rich with those football skills and left him laying. Well done, Mr. Williams!
EpicDave: Congratulations to your new
Southland Heavyweight Champion! And now, fans- we take you to the first Grudge Match of the evening. The ongoing war between
SHANE DOUGLAS and
KEVIN STEEN rages on, and tonight it will be a
Singapore Cane Match!Singapore Cane MatchKEVIN STEEN vs. SHANE DOUGLASTo the surprise of no one, the Singapore Cane Match was a bloodbath. Both men traded vicious shots with the Cane, but Douglas resorted to a shot with a pipe wrench to bust open Steen. Steen kept fighting, but began to lose blood and grew weaker.
TERRY FUNK and
JACKIE FARGO cheered on Douglas and encouraged him to continue the beating.
BRET HART came to ringside to support Steen, but the damage had been done and Douglas pinned Steen with a Belly-to-Belly Suplex.
WINNER: SHANE DOUGLAS
After the match, Jackie Fargo awarded Douglas with his own leather vest, welcoming Douglas as a full member of WHATEVER WE WANT! Funk pointed at the fallen Steen, and Douglas went to work on Steen again with the Cane. Bret Hart tried to fight off Douglas, but Hart was sucker-punched by Fargo. Just as it appeared that Hart was going to suffer a beating, NIKITA KOLOFF charged to ringside and cleared the ring with his Steel Chain!Russell: How about that! Finally- someone takes a stand against those scoundrels from Whatever We Want. Good for Nikita!
Nikita helped Hart to his feet, and Steen also managed to stand up. The three men stood in the ring and flashed a hand signal.EpicDave: Wait- what? That's the same hand signal that we have seen from
BRYAN DANIELSON and
THE ROCK 'N ROLL EXPRESS up in Montreal? What could that possibly mean?
Solie: I believe that is American Sign Language, EpicDave. What could that message mean?
Russell: Let's get to the bottom of this!
Russell calls Nikita to ringside.Nikita: It is time for the good men of the Heartland to unite! The Russian Nightmare and the American Dragon have brought together many strong men to bring justice to these filthy criminals like
JACKIE FARGO and
TULLY BLANCHARD. We stand for
JUSTICE FOR ALL!Hart and Steen join Nikita in the Justice For All signal as the crowd cheers wildly.EpicDave: JUSTICE FOR ALL- I love it! I am so glad to see the good guys joining forces. These 3W guys have been intimidating people for far too long, and it's high time that someone took a stand. All right, fans- let's get back to action!
Atlantic Heavyweight Championship'ROWDY' RODDY PIPER (c) vs. NICK ALDISPiper and Aldis revisited their rivalry with a rematch for the
Atlantic Heavyweight Championship. Unlike the previous match-up, Aldis was able to control the pace, preventing Piper from unleashing mayhem. Aldis maneuvered Piper into the King's Lynn Cloverleaf twice, but Piper stubbornly refused to submit. After the second cloverleaf, Piper stayed down, and Aldis caught Piper with a Diving Elbow Drop to score the victory.
WINNER: NICK ALDIS
NICK ALDIS REGAINS THE ATLANTIC HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP
Solie: Congratulations indeed to one
NICK ALDIS for regaining the
Atlantic Heavyweight Championship! Aldis is as cerebral as they come, and no question he is the master of the game of human chess.
EpicDave: There will be a rematch between these men- and it will be two out of three falls! Will Aldis be able to restrain the Hot Rod for a full two-out-of-three confrontation? I can't wait to find out. But next up, fans- the long-simmering feud between
THE BRISCO BROTHERS and the duo of
CACTUS JACK & KEVIN SULLIVAN will erupt once again in this
No Disqualification Grudge Match.Grudge Match: No DisqualificationJERRY BRISCO vs. CACTUS JACKCactus Jack came to the ring on a mission to destroy Jerry Brisco or die trying. Cactus came at Jerry from all angles, hurtling himself over the ropes onto Briscoe repeatedly, resulting in collisions that left both men in a bloody heap on the arena floor. Jerry fought back gamely, but Cactus eventually put Jerry away with a Double-Arm DDT that left Brisco unconscious in the ring.
WINNER: CACTUS JACK
Russell: Oh, no. That doesn't look good at all for
JERRY BRISCO. I warned him- that he was foolish to even get in the ring with a crazy maniac who has nothing to lose. But the Brisco brothers are both as stubborn as they are proud- and I sure hope this beating doesn't put Jerry on the shelf and jeopardize the Briscos' run as NWA World Tag Team Champions.
EpicDave: I couldn't agree with you more, sir. Now let's get back to some legitimate wrestling competition. The
Atlantic Tag Team Championship is on the line in our next matchup!
Atlantic Tag Team ChampionshipTHE MIDNIGHT EXPRESS (c) vs. MR. WRESTLING I & IIA competitive match came to a sudden finish when
MR. WRESTLING II was on the receiving end of a belly-to-back suplex delivered by Stan Lane. Lane covered II for the pin, but II remained on the mat with an apparent injury which required him to be taken out of the arena on a stretcher.
WINNERS: THE MIDNIGHT EXPRESS
THE MIDNIGHT EXPRESS RETAIN THE ATLANTIC TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP
Solie: What an unfortunate turn of events for Mr. Wrestling II. He and his partner have worked incredibly hard to earn this title match, only to have the opportunity cut short by injury. Wrestling II is one of the most highly respected men in this business. Even a dastardly fellow like
JAMES E. CORNETTE briefly stopped his incessant monologue with a show of concern for the injury suffered by this fine competitor.
EpicDave: And yet- it's the risk that every competitor runs when stepping through the ropes. There was nothing malicious or dirty about the move that was executed by Stan Lane- it was just an unfortunate landing. We all hope for the best for Mr. Wrestling II. Now, let's continue the show with the highly anticipated match for the
PWMA Heavyweight Championship!Pro Wrestling Mid-America Heavyweight ChampionshipNICK BOCKWINKEL (c) vs. BARRY WINDHAM (w/JIMMY HART) There was a tense exchange between Bockwinkel and Hart during the introductions, but Jimmy behaved himself throughout the match. Windham was the more physical of the competitors, and he was able to punish Bockwinkel with several high-impact moves as the match wore on. Bockwinkel was effective in his counter-wrestling, but was unable to catch Windham in any of his renowned submissions. After a suspenseful back-and-forth battle, Windham exploded on Bockwinkel with a blistering Lariat to capture the pin and the PWMA Title.
WINNER: BARRY WINDHAM
BARRY WINDHAM CAPTURES THE PWMA HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP
Russell: Well- that was an amazing battle. You may not like him- but
BARRY WINDHAM is now the
PWMA Heavyweight Champion. And
JIMMY HART and those thugs from
WHATEVER WE WANT are going to be crowing about this one to anybody who will listen. But give credit where credit is due- Windham battled to victory here tonight to earn his title run. And credit to
NICK BOCKWINKEL for another glorious title reign- he has held that belt on five separate occasions and he ain't about to quit now.
EpicDave: No doubt about it- that Lariat from Barry Windham is a deadly move. Between Windham and
STAN HANSEN, the 3W faction has a serious collection of some of the hardest-hitting men in the sport. Congratulations to the new champion. And now, fans- it's time for the Main Event for the
NWA World Heavyweight Championship!Main Event: NWA World Heavyweight ChampionshipRIC FLAIR (c) (w/BOBBY 'THE BRAIN' HEENAN) vs. BRUNO SAMMARTINOIt didn't take long for things to break apart in the Main Event. Bruno started strong, but the mood changed when Flair pulled the referee into the path of a charging Bruno. Once the referee went down, Flair went on the attack, battering Bruno with a pipe wrench which Heenan pulled from under the ring. Bruno tried to fight back, but Flair continued his assault. Heenan set up a table on the arena floor, and Flair whipped Bruno into the table. As Bruno got to his feet, Flair clocked him again with the wrench, knocking Bruno out cold. Flair and Heenan celebrated as the referee finally recovered. After sizing up the situation, the referee threw the match out and the result was declared a No Contest.
OFFICIAL RESULT: NO CONTEST
RIC FLAIR RETAINS THE NWA WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP
EpicDave: What a fiasco! The Dirtiest Player In The Game has struck again, with an assist from Bobby the Brain. Flair has prevailed in the battle tonight- but I think the referee made the right decision by refusing to count Bruno out. This match needs to happen- and if Flair wants to bring the table into play- the rematch will be a
Tables Match! Bruno deserves his title match and he deserves the chance to gain revenge for what happened here tonight in Atlanta. All right, fans- we're done here. Thanks for checking out tonight's broadcast of
Heartland Havoc CXVIII: Another Thing Comin'. Flair will definitely have another thing comin' when Bruno gets his hands on him. Heartland will be back next Saturday night with more exciting action. Until then, that's our show, and I AM OUTTA HERE!
