EpicDave: Hey, fans! Welcome to Heartland Championship Wrestling! It's great to be back in action after a monumental show last weekend at Freedom Festival 2024. So many things have changed in the course of just a few weeks- and tonight the train keeps rolling as the superstars of the Atlantic Wrestling Federation continue their 2024 tour of the Southeastern Conference. Tonight's action brings us to the campus of Mississippi State University, the home of the Battling Bulldogs! And we have plenty of battles lined up for tonight, including the Dixie Heavyweight Championship in our Main Event as TERRY 'BAMM BAMM' GORDY defends against PAT PATTERSON. We're back in action and ready to burn it down, fans- so relax, grab yourself a cold one, and enjoy the show!


CURT HENNIG (w/BOBBY 'THE BRAIN' HEENAN) pinned LES THATCHER**** with the Hennig Plex


BOBO BRAZIL** defeated TOM JENKINS** by disqualification when Bobo was attacked by RIC FLAIR

The debut match of Hall-of-Famer TOM JENKINS featured a spirited battle against another powerhouse in BOBO BRAZIL. The competition went back and forth, until it was rudely interrupted by the arrival of RIC FLAIR, who dragged Bobo out of the ring and came at Bobo with a series of thunderous chops. Bobo stood his ground and fired back with Hammer punches, driving Flair away from ringside. To the disappointment of both Bobo and Jenkins, the referee was forced to award the decision to Bobo via disqualification.

EpicDave: Well- it looks like Flair still has a bone to pick with Mr. Brazil- considering that it was Bobo who defeated Flair to take Flair out of contention for the World Championship. They seem to be on a collision course for another confrontation.


BOB ROOP & COWBOY BOB ORTON defeated KEVIN SULLIVAN***** & CACTUS JACK when Orton pinned Sullivan with a Superplex

After the defeat, Sullivan and Cactus argued, and then came to blows! The two partners went toe-to-toe in the center of the ring, beating on each other while no one made any attempt to intervene. Finally, Cactus delivered a running clothesline which catapulted both men over the top rope and down to the arena floor, where referees were able to scoop them up and escort them separately to the back.

EpicDave: I can't say that I am surprised that these two have imploded. There has certainly been a lot of frustrations building between these two ever since they lost the World Tag Team Championship.


RIC FLAIR**** pinned MICHAEL OKU******* using the ropes


GRUDGE MATCH- NO DISQUALIFICATION:
EDDIE GUERRERO* pinned MR. SAITO*** with a Frog Splash

In the wake of Saito's assault on CHAVO GUERRERO JR., Eddie came after Saito with a vengeance. Saito tried to slow Eddie down with several suplexes, but Eddie's thirst for vengeance would not be denied. Eddie retaliated with a barrage of aerial attacks, finally putting Saito down with a tornado DDT. Saito lay motionless as Eddie delivered the Frog Splash for a decisive win.

EpicDave: That had to feel satisfying for Eddie after the injury to his nephew- but Chavo is going to be on the shelf for a while.


ATLANTIC TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP: #1 CONTENDERS' MATCH
DAVID & KERRY**** VON ERICH defeated THE GOLDEN LOVERS (KENNY OMEGA*** & KOTA IBUSHI***) by Disqualification when Omega attacked Kerry with a Broom

EpicDave: Congratulations to the Von Erichs! The chips were down, but our boys did what they had to do to achieve the victory. That sets up David and Kerry for a match against MR. WRESTLING I & II for the vacant Atlantic Tag Team Championship! And now, fans- it's time for the Main Event of the evening.


MAIN EVENT: DIXIE HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP
PAT PATTERSON* pinned TERRY 'BAMM BAMM" GORDY**** with the Bombs Away

Gordy used his power moves to control the early segments of this match, but Patterson proved to be the smarter competitor. When Gordy went for a Samoan Drop, Patterson escaped Gordy's grasp and planted Gordy with a spinning neckbreaker. Patterson went to the Bombs Away, and scored a clean pin to win the title!

PAT PATTERSON CAPTURES THE DIXIE HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP

EpicDave: Congratulations to PAT PATTERSON- your new Dixie Heavyweight Champion! Patterson was definitely the master of the squared circle in tonight's Main Event, and he has earned the chance to hold the gold. Well done, sir. All right, fans- we're done here. I know I don't comment as much as other people primarily because at times I struggle to come up with anything meaningful to say. But, I always enjoy reading your results, Dave.

The Mistress of Mayhem Championship is up for grabs in tonight's Main Event, with the new champion TRISH ADORA defending the belt against JACQUELINE. That match is gonna be a banger! MS. FRANKIE JAY** defeated JESSICKA HAVOK by disqualification after Jessicka used a Steel Chain

Despite being a decided underdog in the match, Frankie brought her "A" game. Frankie absorbed several power attacks from Jessicka, and continued to bring the fight. Jessicka lost her cool, pitching Frankie out of the ring and attacking Frankie with a steel chain! Frankie took a nasty gash across the back, but the referee immediately called for the DQ.

Velvet: Well THAT escalated quickly. Jessicka has been enmeshed in a horrific feud with IVELISSE- and her mood lately has been on edge to say the least. Unfortunately, tonight her temper cost her the victory- and a shot at the title. We'll see if the magic can continue for Frankie when she challenges KELLY KLEIN for the Heartland Ladies' Championship!


HEARTLAND LADIES' TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP: #1 CONTENDERS' MATCH
TASHA STEELZ & BIG SWOLE** defeated VIVIAN*** & LUNA***** VACHON when Swole pinned Luna after a Flatliner

Velvet: That was a great match! Both teams had a great battle- but Tasha and Swole were hitting some crazy double-teams to take out both the Vachons. Tasha and Swole are now the number one contenders! They will challenge CORA & DEBBIE COMBS for the tag titles- and we will see that match on August 31 at our next HYPE show, Heartland Havoc CXXIII: Nowhere Fast, from Washington, DC!


GRUDGE MATCH- NO DISQUALIFICATION:
MARTI BELLE* pinned HEIDI HOWITZER****** with a straightjacket neckbreaker slam

The veteran Marti made short work of young Heidi in the latest confrontation involving THE HEX. Marti used Heidi's aggression against her, controlling the action at every turn en route to a clean pinfall victory.

After the decision, BRIAR HALE again appeared to the top of the ring ramp, looking down at the ring in a rage.

Velvet: Oh my… Briar is SO mad right now! The Hex has basically captured Briar's twin sister SAGE HALE, and Briar is trying to rescue her. But what is her plan?


MAIN EVENT: MISTRESS OF MAYHEM CHAMPIONSHIP
JACQUELINE* pinned TRISH ADORA*** (c) with a Tornado DDT

As expected, this match was a hard-hitting, all-out war between two double-tough ladies. Trish gave as good as she got while the action was in the ring, but when the fight spilled out to the floor, chaos erupted. Without warning, JORDYNNE GRACE appeared at ringside, grabbing Trish by the back of the neck and ramming her head into the ring post!

Velvet: Jordynne- WHAT?

The sound of Trish's head colliding with the post resonated through the arena. Jordynne casually left the ring area, leaving Trish as easy pickings for Jacqueline. Jacqueline dumped Trish with a DDT and covered her for the three count.

JACQUELINE CAPTURES THE MISTRESS OF MAYHEM CHAMPIONSHIP

Velvet: What just happened? I guess Jordynne was still sore about losing the Mistress of Mayhem Championship to Trish? Now they are both out of luck and JACQUELINE is your new champion! Congratulations, I guess, to Jacqueline for being in the right place at the right time. It's now Jacqueline's turn to hold the gold! BRUISER BRODY* & JIMMY SNUKA defeated THE ROCK 'N ROLL EXPRESS (RICKY MORTON & ROBERT GIBSON****) when Snuka pinned Robert after a Flying Head Butt

There were no miracles tonight for the Express. The speedsters tried to take the fight to Snuka and Brody, but once the Bruiser got hold of Gibson, things got ugly in a hurry. Ricky tried to save his partner, but a big boot from Brody annihilated Ricky and allowed Snuka to finish off Robert.

EpicDave: That was impressive. Brody and Snuka have earned themselves a title shot against JAY & MARK BRISCOE. That match will go down at next month's HYPE show, Heartland Havoc CXXIII: Nowhere Fast! And now, fans- it's time for your Main Event of the evening!

Danielson took his best shot at the veteran Lewis in a very cerebral match, but Lewis' power was the deciding factor. Lewis was able to withstand the strikes of the Dragon, and when Lewis caught the Strangler's Headlock, it was curtains for the challenger.

EpicDave: Hey, fans! Welcome to Heartland Championship Wrestling! The men of Pro Wrestling Mid-America have descended upon the Big Easy for a night of action that will knock your socks off. The PWMA Heavyweight Championship is on the line here tonight as TERRY FUNK defends the title against TIM STORM. And the Main Event will be a Number One Contender's Match for the NWA World Heavyweight Championship as DUSTY RHODES battles 'RAVISHING' RICK RUDE. But, fans- before we get started, we will have a special visit from a former World Champion. 'DR. DEATH' STEVE WILLIAMS has asked for time here on tonight's show- so let's find out what Doc has on his mind.

Williams: EpicDave- fans- the time has come for Dr. Death to step it up. Old Doc has been on the sidelines for far too long while those bozos from WHATEVER WE WANT have been running roughshod over this place. I stood by and watched dudes like KEVIN STEEN & NIKITA KOLOFF get put on the shelf. And now- it's time to take a stand. So, I would like to sign up to be part of JUSTICE 4 ALL- and I brought a couple of old friends to join the party!

GRUDGE MATCH- NO DISQUALIFICATION:
JACKIE FARGO*** (w/JIMMY HART) pinned DON FRYE***** after hitting Frye with a Sledgehammer

Don Frye came after Fargo with a vengeance- and nearly beat the stuffing out of Fargo. Frye unleashed a flurry of strikes, and quickly maneuvered Fargo into an armbar, looking to gain a quick submission. But Frye's onslaught was quickly interrupted when Jimmy Hart gave Frye a wallop on the back with his Megaphone!

EpicDave: Those dirty scoundrels!

Before Frye could regain his bearings, Fargo left the ring and grabbed a sledgehammer. Fargo whacked Frye with the sledgehammer, landing a painful blow to the abdomen. Frye doubled over, and Fargo struck Frye across the back. Frye collapsed to the mat, and Fargo rolled him over for the pin.


EpicDave: Well… I think Don Frye just got a taste of what he is going to be up against with this 3W crew. Frye and his mates have poked the bear- and now it's on. And the biggest bear in PWMA right now is our Heavyweight Champion, TERRY FUNK. It's time for Funk to defend his title in our next match!


PRO WRESTLING MID-AMERICA HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP:
TERRY FUNK** (c) pinned TIM STORM*** after a Top Rope Cross-Body Block

It was a classic battle of skill versus brutality in the title match. Storm was able to gain the advantage in the opening segments of the match, keeping Funk grounded with his technical game, leading to a couple of early near-falls. But Funk was able to escape the ring and pull Storm out to the arena floor. Funk slammed Storm's head into the ringpost, taking the starch out of the challenger. Storm retreated to the safety of the ring, but Funk shocked Storm, launching himself off the top turnbuckle and slamming onto Storm with a perfect cross-body block to gain the pinfall.

TERRY FUNK RETAINS THE PWMA HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP

EpicDave: Congratulations to TERRY FUNK for an outstanding title defense. He turned aside a very capable challenger here tonight to retain his Pro Wrestling Mid-America Heavyweight Championship. It is a dominant reign for Funk, and the 3W faction is on top or the wrestling world. BARRY WINDHAM from the 3W crew is your reigning NWA World Heavyweight Champion, and in tonight's Main Event, we will find out who will be the next man to challenge Windham for the biggest belt in the business.


MAIN EVENT: NWA WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP: #1 CONTENDERS' MATCH
DUSTY RHODES*** pinned 'RAVISHING' RICK RUDE***** with the Bionic Elbow

Rhodes and Rude tore it up in the Main Event. The momentum shifted back and forth until Dusty unleashed a flurry of lefts and rights that knocked Rude for a loop. With the fans on their feet, Dusty unleashed the Bionic Elbow, putting Rude down to claim the victory.


EpicDave: Congratulations to DUSTY RHODES! He is now the Number One Contender for the NWA World Heavyweight Championship! It will be Dusty Rhodes vs. Barry Windham for the World Championship on August 31 at our next HYPE show- Heartland Havoc CXXIII: Nowhere Fast- in Washington, DC. GRUDGE MATCH- NO DISQUALIFICATION:
TERRY FUNK* & STAN HANSEN* (w/JIMMY HART) defeated CURT HENNIG* & BIG JOHN STUDD****** (w/BOBBY 'THE BRAIN' HEENAN) when Hansen pinned Studd with a Lariat

To the surprise of no one, the latest confrontation between THE HEENAN FAMILY and WHATEVER WE WANT was hotly contested and brutal. All four men battled intensely, and the match got ugly when Funk took Studd out of the ring and busted open Studd's forehead with a branding iron. Funk slammed the bloody head of Studd into the ring post, opening up the gash further and leaving Studd's face a crimson mask. Studd was nearly blinded by his own blood, and Hansen annihilated Studd with a Lariat to put the match away for 3W.

EpicDave: Great gushers! WHATEVER WE WANT just beat Big John Studd to a bloody mess. Studd is going to need assistance to get to the back- and the Heenan Family has been devastated here tonight in Columbia.


GRUDGE MATCH- NO DISQUALIFICATION:
CACTUS JACK** pinned KEVIN SULLIVAN**** with a Double-Arm DDT

The breakup of these former partners came to a violent head this evening. Both men were intent upon mutual destruction, tearing into each other with a fury. Twice, Cactus Jack launched himself on to Sullivan with desperate leaping attacks which left both men in a heap. Cactus was first to his feet, and dropped Sullivan with a Double-Arm DDT. Sullivan's body went limp, and Cactus covered him for a decisive victory.

EpicDave: Wow. That match was everything I expected it to be- hostility, violence, and mayhem. Kevin Sullivan is diabolical- but Cactus is just plain crazy. He will do anything and everything in his power to get the best of an opponent, even if it means sacrificing his own body as a consequence. It's really a sad ending to the run of a successful tag team. And now- fans- it's time to crown the top Tag Team in the AWF! The Tag Titles were vacated by THE MIDNIGHT EXPRESS upon winning the World Championship- so tonight, here in Columbia, new champions will be crowned in our Main Event.


MAIN EVENT: ATLANTIC TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP
MR. WRESTLING I* & II*** defeated KERRY** & DAVID*** VON ERICH when Wrestling I submitted Kerry with a Cross-Arm Breaker

In contrast to the brutal grudge matches which preceded it, the Main Event was a cleanly fought contest between two respected teams. Action went back and forth, until the Von Erichs took control on Wrestling II. David was able to clamp II into the Iron Claw, and it was nearly lights out until Mr. I made the save. After a difficult struggle, II was able to tag out to Mr. Wrestling. Wrestling I took down Kerry and locked in the Cross-Arm Breaker, forcing Kerry to tap out!

EpicDave: Congratulations to MR. WRESTLING I & II, your new Atlantic Tag Team Champions! That match could have gone either way- but once Mr. Wrestling caught that submission hold, there was no escape. Give the Wrestling squad all the credit in the world- it has been a long road for them to achieve the goal of the tag team titles, and it is definitely well-deserved.
