NWA Heartland Card #143 Dayton Gym Club, Dayton, Ohio July 4, 2008 The show opens in a dusky, smoke filled conference room in the back of the Dayton Gym Club. BOBBY HEENAN and JIM CORNETTE are seated at a table, pouring over a large pile of papers strewn about.Heenan: Too bad, Cornette, your guys lost the title match! Believe me, I had nothing to do with that attack. Cornette: I believe you, Bobby. I don't think you're smart enough to have pulled that off! Heenan: Yeah, right. But at least MY guys are next up for a title match! Cornette: Like Baker and Zbyszko could beat the Outlaws? Never in a million years. But Bobby, we have bigger issues to look at. We need to crown a new Heartland Heavyweight champion! Heenan: How about Ray Stevens? Cornette: For the love of Pete, Heenan, you can't just GIVE titles to your own guys! Heenan: Then why did I buy this territory? Cornette: Please! Now, back to business. I have a list of 24 top names in the Heartland. Let's put them into a tournament! We'll start tonight with the first four matches. The scene shifts to the ring, where JR JAMES stands with microphone in hand.JR: Good evening, fans of the Heartland! Welcome back to the Dayton Gym Club for tonight's matches! As you have just heard from Heartland co-owner James E. Cornette, tonight will mark the beginning of the tournament to crown the new NWA Heartland Heavyweight Champion! 24 men are entered, and over the next four weeks you'll see them square off in a battle for Heartland supremacy! Also tonight, we'll see the main event rematch between NWA World Heavyweight Champion CHRISTOPHER DANIELS and the rough, tough BRUISER BRODY. That match will be non-title and NO disqualification! Nothing on the line tonight except pride, but belive you me, fans, these are two of the proudest men in the NWA and you can bet this match will be intense! No question about that! Now, let's head to the ring for our opening contest. HEARTLAND HEAVYWEIGHT TOURNAMENT: ROUND 1 PEPPER GOMEZ vs. BOBO BRAZIL (w/ SLICK)Gomez was little match for the massive Bobo. Brazil destroyed Pepper with a series of Coco Butts and finished him easily. WINNER: BOBO BRAZIL(Coco Butt)JR: So, Bobo Brazil is the winner of our opening contest! Congratulations to the popular big man for a decisive win! DRAKE YOUNGER vs. JOHNNY VALENTINEThe match itself was more competitive than most observers had expected. Younger actually managed to counter much of Valentine's technical offense, and even hit Johnny with the Drake's Landing vertebreaker for a near-fall. Valentine escaped from the ring, but Drake followed, and with his adrenaline pumping, he went under the ring for a light tube and smashed it across Valentine's back! Joe Kopasz immediately disqualified Drake, who appeared surprised. But Valentine was not satisfied with the disqualification victory. Johnny kept after Younger, pounding away with fists and fire in spite of the damage to his back. Younger found himself on the defensive, and quickly bailed out of the ring area and scrambled back to the locker room for safety.WINNER: JOHNNY VALENTINE(Younger disqualified for using a foreign object)JR: How about THAT? I guess Johnny Valentine showed that young punk what it means to be an old school tough guy! Wrestling is about more than that extreme rules crap. That's the last thing the Heartland needs, no question. Kudos to Valentine for taking his stand and sending Younger away with his tail between his legs. RAY "CRIPPLER" STEVENS (w/ BOBBY HEENAN) vs. FRITZ VON GOERING (w/ NIKITA BREZNIKOV)Stevens found himself on the defensive for much of this bout. After kicking out of the von Goering backbreaker, the Crippler was still slow to recover. von Goering delivered the finisher a second time, and Bobby Heenan grabbed Fritz around the ankles to prevent him from another pin attempt. Before Breznikov could interrupt Heenan's interference, Stevens nailed von Goering with a Jumping Knee Smash and rolled him up for a quick pinfall! WINNER: RAY "CRIPPLER" STEVENS(Pinned von Goering after a Jumping Knee Smash)JR: I guess that just goes to show, you can't outfox a fox. They don't call him the "Brain" for nothing! JIMMY "SUPERFLY" SNUKA vs. TONY ATLAS (w/ SLICK)The Reverend Slick returned for a second match, but with less success. After a highly competitive encounter, Snuka leapfrogged Atlas coming off the ropes, and felled him with a thundering chop. Atlas' momentum carried him all the way to the ring floor. The dynamic Superfly went to the skies, crashing onto Atlas with a bodypress on the ring floor. Both men went down in a heap, but only Snuka was able to make it back to the ring before Kopasz completed the ten-count. WINNER: JIMMY SNUKA(Atlas counted out after a flying body press to the ring floor)JR: Good heavens! What a daredevil that Snuka is! Indeed, that is the type of high-risk manuever that may have shortened both men's careers. Atlas looks to be okay, as Slick helps him back to the locker room. Jimmy Snuka is your winner! MAIN EVENT: NO DISQUALIFICATION, NON-TITLE MATCH NWA WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION CHRISTOPHER DANIELS vs. BRUISER BRODYThe World Champion proved his mettle in the rematch! Daniels controlled the pace of the match, and kept the action in the ring. He never allowed Brody to employ his legendary brawling tactics. Daniels executed a beautiful reverse STO after countering Brody's attempted backbreaker. From there, it was all Daniels, and the champion executed consecutive Best Moonsault Evers on Brody and pinned him cleanly! WINNER: CHRISTOPHER DANIELS(Pinned Brody after a Best Moonsault Ever)JR: No question, Daniels said it on Monday night, and he made it happen tonight. A real man settles his business in the ring, and tonight it was all business for Daniels. His game plan was perfect and his execution was flawless! Count me impressed as the World Champion takes home a very impressive victory against a formidable opponent. As usual, fans, it has been our privilege and our pleasure to present this night of wrestling action! We'll be back on Monday, July 7, with more exciting Heartland action as our tournament continues! Our feature match-up will have former Dayton champion THE DESTROYER facing a stiff challenge as he battles mighty DON LEO JONATHON. We hope you can join us! So long from the Buckeye State!

NWA Heartland Card #144 Dayton Gym Club, Dayton, Ohio July 7, 2008 The show opens in the dimly lit gym club with JR JAMES standing in the ring. Roughly 125 fans are on hand, clapping and chanting as JR takes the microphone. Without warning, a bright spotlight fills the Club. A colorful banner unfurls from the ceiling, revealing a new NWA Heartland logo! JR appears as stunned as anyone in the Club. Before he is able to speak, BOBBY "THE BRAIN" HEENAN saunters down to the ring as the crowd groans.Heenan: Hey, JR. Like the new look? JR: No question! Where did it come from? Heenan: China. JR: Seriously, I don't remember seeing this in the budget. Heenan: It wasn't. My money man covered it. JR: I must say, Brain, that I am impressed. Who is your money man, anyway? Heenan: A poor mountaineer. JR: Poor? Heenan: Barely kept his family fed. JR: Where'd he get his money? Heenan: Well, one day he was shootin' at some food.. and up from the ground came a-bubblin' crude! JR: Oil? Heenan: Black gold! Texas tea! JR: What a success story! Indeed, a tale like that belongs on television. Why don't you bring Mr. Moneybags out to meet the fans? I am sure they would like to meet him. Heenan: Sure, why not? Come on down to the ring, my friend! A folksy barn dance tune plays as COUSIN LUKE appears at the entry-way. He is dressed in a tuxedo, and dances a jig as he makes his way down to the ring.JR: Cousin Luke? JR James here. Indeed, it is an honor to meet you. Thank you for the financial support! Luke: Pleased to meet ya, JJ. I hear tell Heartland is the greatest rasslin' in the U S of A! JR: Why not stay and watch a few matches? Set a spell... Luke: Can I take my shoes off? JR: Whatever you like. Let's see some action! MIKE QUACKENBUSH vs. UNCLE ELMERIn nearly record time, Quackenbush caught Elmer coming off the ropes, and used the big man's momentum to roll him into a Quackendriver III and score a quick pinfall! WINNER: MIKE QUACKENBUSH(Quackendriver III)Luke: I'll be durned! That little feller just whooped my big ol' Uncle Elmer! JR: That's Mike Quackenbush. He's one of the new independent stars of the Heartland. He's a Legend of the Future! Luke: Well cut me up and fry me with the taters, JJ. They shore don't make 'em like they used to! NECRO BUTCHER vs. HILLBILLY JIMNecro was perplexed by the affable giant in the early stages of the match. Jim gave Necro a smile and a handshake, then immediately pummeled the Butcher from pillar to post! Necro never got untracked as the big hillbilly mauled him with slams and suplexes before squashing him with a Bear Hug. WINNER: HILLBILLY JIM(Jim defeated Necro by submission with the Bear Hug)Luke: Yee-haw! My cousin Jim just beat that ugly feller. I tell you what, Jimmy has one mean bear hug, I been there mah self! JR: You and Jim used to wrestle? Luke: What y'all call rasslin'... we call scufflin'! Luke leaves the announce table and enters the ring with Hillbilly Jim. Jim and Luke begin to dance the jig together in celebration of the victory. Necro Butcher makes it to his feet. Luke smiles at Necro and offers his arm, inviting Necro to join in the dance. Necro scowls, and launches himself at Luke, blasting him with a vicious clothesline! Necro jumps on Luke, biting his ears and face before Hillbilly Jim and Joe Kopasz drag Necro Butcher off of Luke and hurl him out of the ring. The enormous security guard in the dark suit appears and ushers Necro Butcher out of the ring area. BOBBY HEENAN dashes into the ring to tend to Cousin Luke.Heenan: Luke! Sir! Are you all right? Luke staggers to his feet. He is bleeding from the forehead, thanks to a nasty gash opened by Necro Butcher. Blood runs down onto his tuxedo, staining his white shirt.Heenan: Oh my word! Your suit! That barbarian ruined your brand new tuxedo! Luke: I ain't worried 'bout no fancy duds, Mr. Bobby. I wanna get my hands on that low-down varmint! Luke angrily takes off his jacket and throws it onto the mat. He rips off his bloody shirt, and uses it to wipe the blood off his face and forehead. He holds the bloody shirt over his head and points at the entry way as the fans cheer him on to the chants of "LUKE LUKE LUKE!"JR: Fans, what a strange turn of events! Cousin Luke is the Heartland's benefactor! And now, he is hot on the tail of the Necro Butcher! Believe you me, we'll have that match booked faster than a jackrabbit! Heenan: JR, are you speaking hillbilly now? JR: Let's get back to some scufflin'! BOB & BRAD ARMSTRONG vs. ANGELO MOSCA & THE MOUNTIEAfter a competitive match-up, Mosca took control on Bob Armstrong. After overpowering Bob and leveling him with a football tackle, Mosca demolished him with a Big Nasty Elbow Drop and pinned him cleanly. WINNERS: ANGELO MOSCA & THE MOUNTIE(Mosca pinned Bob Armstrong after the Big Nasty Elbow Drop)JR: A fine victory for the Canadians. Is it just me, or does this Mountie character always seem to find a 300-pound gorilla to hide behind? HACKSAW JIM DUGGAN vs. TAKESHI MORISHIMAThe brawl between these two mammoths was as wild as expected! Duggan floored Takeshi with a Tough Guy Clothesline, but Morishima was able to kick out. Morishima responded with a lariat of his own, which nearly turned Hacksaw inside out! The carnage soon spilled out of the ring, where the big men exchanged hay makers and forearms. As the action intensified, Morishima lost his cool and rammed Duggan head first onto the steel railing! Duggan was stunned, and Joe Kopasz was forced to call for the disqualification. After the decision, Duggan finally stormed to his feet and charged after Morishima! The brawl continued all over the Gym Club with neither man gaining the upper hand. Finally, DELIRIOUS came to ringside and managed to calm his partner. Duggan was amused and confused at the babbling of the masked man, scratching his head and furrowing his brow as Morishima and Delirious left the ring together.WINNER: HACKSAW JIM DUGGAN(Morishima disqualified after slamming Duggan headfirst onto the steel railing)JR: Now that was quite a brawl! No question, these two hombres are as tough as they come. If anything, they both seemed to have a good time duking it out! Our next contest will be a rematch from the tag team championship tournament. The upstart team who call themselves the HIGH ROLLERS, DIAMOND DALLAS PAGE and PLAYBOY BUDDY ROSE, surprised more than a few observers by making it all the way to the semifinals before losing to the MIDNIGHT EXPRESS. Let's hear from Playboy Buddy Rose, who is backstage with the Legend Himself, our own "Wildman" Butch Michaels. Wildman: Thank you, JR. Boy, I sure do miss the good old days back at Belmont High School! I am here tonight with Playboy Buddy Rose, a man who has scored some great wins right here in Dayton. Buddy, you and DDP had a great run in the tag team tournament. Do you think you good fortune can continue? Rose: Butch, my man, you better believe our success can- and WILL- continue! People want to take us lightly, but me and DDP will be rolling all the way to the belts! A voice emerges from off camera. LARRY ZBYSZKO arrives on the scene.Zbyszko: Excuse me! Excuse me! Did I overhear fat boy here talking about the tag team championships? I don't think so, Snake-Eyes. Larry Zbyszko and Ox Baker are next in line for a title match. Rose: Whatever. You only got that match because your manager owns the company. You're nothing but a whining little daddy's boy. We're going after those belts- and we're gonna EARN them- in the ring! Another voice emanates from off-camera. JIM CORNETTE and the MIDNIGHT EXPRESS arrive. Cornette: Blah, blah, blah, blah blah! This tag team division belongs to my Midnight Express! This team was one cheap shot away from winning the tournament. But you're not gonna hear us whine! We're gonna put away the Low-Lifes tonight. Then, it doesn't matter if it's the Outlaws, or you, Zbyszko, the Midnights are taking back the gold! Rose: Low Lifes? You're one to talk. We're gonna show Eaton and Condrey what real toughness is about! And Cornette, you come anywhere NEAR the ring with that tennis racket tonight, and I will personnally stick that thing- As Rose screams at Cornette, BOBBY EATON steps in front of his manager. Eaton and Rose go nose-to-nose, scowling, until Rose rears back and cold-cocks Eaton! Bobby drops to the floor, then gets up and lunges at Rose. Cornette rears back with his racket, but Zbyszko grabs the racket in its backswing and yanks it away! Soon, all four men are brawling around backstage, until the ever-present security man turns up to settle the combatants and usher Cornette and the Midnights to the ring.JR: Just in time! You never know where BIG JIM, THE ENFORCER is going to turn up. But you always know that wherever the action is, Big Jim is bound to be close by! THE HIGH ROLLERS (DIAMOND DALLAS PAGE & PLAYBOY BUDDY ROSE) vs. THE MIDNIGHT EXPRESS (BOBBY EATON & DENNIS CONDREY w/ JIM CORNETTE)The Rollers and the Midnights took their collective frustrations to the ring, where they proceeded to beat each other senseless. Page and Condrey traded some heavy duty punishment, with Cornette getting a few gratuitous shots on DDP as well. Page was in trouble, and the Midnights smelled blood. A pair of crisp suplexes executed by Condrey sent Page crashing onto Eaton's knee, leaving DDP in agony. Page finally tagged out to Rose, but the Midnights remained in control. Rose fell victim to the Veg-O-Matic in short order for the pinfall victory. WINNERS: THE MIDNIGHT EXPRESS(Eaton pinned Rose after the Veg-O-Matic)JR: Another big win for the Midnight Express! Cornette and his men are now 2-0 against Rose and Page. But I don't think we've seen the last of this situation. There remains a lot of bad blood between these teams, no question about it! THE DESTROYER vs. DON LEO JONATHANDestroyer had the giant Mormon scouted well for this bout, keeping him off-balance with a series of counters. But the masked man could only avoid Jonathan's power for a short time, before Don Leo caught him and powered him over with a thunderous atomic drop. Destroyer was shaken, and Jonathan was relentless, catching him with the Mormon Swing and forcing a submission for a decisive ending to a competitive and highly entertaining match. WINNER: DON LEO JONATHAN(Destroyer forced to submit to the Mormon Swing)JR: What a display of power by Don Leo Jonathan! After a long and grueling match, the big Mormon comes out on top in tonight's main event. That concludes another fine card of Heartland wrestling action, fans, and a most interesting night it has been. Our thanks, again, to COUSIN LUKE for making this night possible. We'll be back on Thursday night with another exciting card of action- on the eve of Galacticon 2008! Our main event will be an ENORMOUS bout between two Heartland powerhouses as OX BAKER throws down against STEVE "DR. DEATH" WILLIAMS! Until then, fans, so long from the Buckeye State!

NWA Heartland Card #145 Dayton Gym Club, Dayton, Ohio July 10, 2008 The show opens with spotlights swirling throughout the crowded Gym Club. The NWA Heartland banner is displayed proudly above the ring, and the crowd is abuzz as JR JAMES enters the ring and takes the microphone.JR: Welcome, fans, to another special evening of NWA Heartland wrestling! It is the eve of Galacticon 2008, where wrestling promoters from around the USA gather to honor the man who started it all, the patriarch of simulated wrestling himself, Mr. Tom Filsinger! At the mention of the hallowed Filsinger name, the fans erupt with a standing ovation. JR waits several moments as the crowd chants, "TOM TOM TOM", before he can finish his introductions.JR: Thank you, fans! No question, it is a fitting tribute to a fine gentleman! As the cheers die down, BOBBY "THE BRAIN" HEENAN strides to ringside, followed closely by fellow NWA Heartland co-owner JAMES E. CORNETTE. JR: Welcome, Mr. Heenan. To what do we owe the honor of your visit? Heenan: I heard you mention a tribute to a fine gentleman. So, here I am! Where's my tribute? Cornette swats Heenan on the back of the head.Cornette: Not YOU, idiot! You're a fine gentleman about as much as Alex Rodriguez is a good husband! Heenan: Alex Rodriguez is a great husband! Ask any of his wives and many of his girlfriends! Cornette: Gimme a break, Bobby. You'll never be half the gentleman that Tom Filsinger is! Heenan: Tom WHO? Cornette: Tom Filsinger. Heenan: Oh, Tom Filsinger! The Dark Menace himself! Everybody knows about Tom Filsinger. He is one fine gentleman! Cornette rolls his eyes. He grabs Heenan by the arm and leads him back to the locker room area as the crowd again takes up the chant, "TOM TOM TOM". JR: Thank you again, fans! Now, let's get on with tonight's action! This evening, we will conclude the first round of the Heartland Heavyweight Championship tournament! Our feature match will pit the dangerous OX BAKER against a man who backs down from nobody, "DR. DEATH", STEVE WILLIAMS! Now, let's head to the ring for tonight's opening contest. (Tonight's referee: Joe Kopasz) TITO SANTANA vs. BRUISER BRODYSantana opened the match with a flurry, and kept Brody on the defensive through most of the contest. Once Bruiser took control, it didn't take long for the big man to plant Tito on the canvas with a one hand body slam, and finish him off with a Jumping Knee Drop. WINNER: BRUISER BRODY(Brody pins Santana with a Jumping Knee Drop)JR: No question, Bruiser Brody is a dangerous man. Santana wrestled his best match, but Brody took all of his best shots and turned the match around in a heartbeat! This kinda feels like a Wrestlemania moment- the first match on the card ends with Tito Santana flat on his back. Deja vu... LARRY ZBYSZKO vs. TOM PRICHARDLarry Legend and Dr. Tom engaged in a long struggle, with the momentum shifting repeatedly. Prichard found success with aerial manuevers, stunning Zbyszko with the enzuigiri for a near fall. Zbyszko countered by slowing the pace of the match and punishing Prichard against the turnbuckle. Larry softened him up and connected with a vicious piledriver, but Prichard managed to kick out and the match continued. Prichard countered with a flurry, stunning Zbyszko with a running back elbow and dropping him throat first across the top rope. But Prichard miscalculated, missing with a running spear, allowing Zbyszko to regain control of the match. A pair of piledrivers from Zbyszko sealed Prichard's fate and the match was over. WINNER: LARRY ZBYSZKO(Zbyszko pins Prichard with a Piledriver)JR: What a tight contest! Indeed, that one could have gone either way. One mistake by Prichard was all it took for the wily veteran Zbyszko to turn the match in his favor. THE NAPTOWN DRAGONS (SCOTTY VORTEKZ & DIE HARD DUSTIN LEE) vs. THE KILLER BEES (B. BRIAN BLAIR & JIM BRUNZELL)The Dragons showed flashes of brilliance, but the savvy and teamwork of the Bees prevailed. The Bees isolated Scotty in the ring and wore him down until Dustin made the hot tag. But Lee met the same fate, walking into a double elbow smash, and nearly being put out by Blair's punishing sleeper hold. Lee managed to tag Vortekz, who leveled Blair with a Cyclone Kick and nearly scored the pin! But just as quickly, the Bees made the tag and planted Scotty with a double atomic drop. Brunzell covered Vortekz for the three count as Lee was still too dazed to attempt a save. WINNERS: THE KILLER BEES(Brunzell pinned Vortekz after a Double Atomic Drop)JR: My, oh my. Few teams in this sport are as well-coordinated and slick as the Killer Bees! ARIK CANNON vs. DELIRIOUSMayhem in the Heartland! Delirious opened the match on fire, baffling Cannon with his goofy opening antics and stunning him with a Panic Attack. Delirious followed up with 17 clotheslines in the corner, and the perplexed Cannon slid out of the ring. Before Delirious could catch him, Cannon grabbed a steel chair and plastered Delirious across the side of the head. Delirious was staggered, and Cannon pitched him back into the ring. Before Delirious could recover, Cannon crushed him with a Glimmering Warlock and covered him for a three-count! After the pinfall, SCOTTY VORTEKZ rushed back into the ring and speared Cannon into the mat! DUSTIN LEE returned to check on Delirious while Vortekz and Cannon threw down in a furious brawl. Both men opened up with punches and kicks, battling all over the Gym Club and back to the locker room! WINNER: ARIK CANNON(Cannon pinned Delirious after a Glimmering Warlock)JR: So, that round goes to Cannon and the Rejects. But the war is not over! Scotty Vortekz made that perfectly clear. THE FABULOUS KANGAROOS (AL COSTELLO & ROY HEFFERNAN w/ WILD RED BERRY) vs. THE FOREIGN LEGION (IRON SHEIK & NIKOLAI VOLKOFF w/ NIKITA BREZNIKOV & FRITZ VON GOERING)Iron Sheik controlled the opening moments of the bout, dominating Heffernan and quickly locking in the Camel Clutch! But Heffernan struggled to the bottom rope, forcing Joe Kopasz to call for the break. Heffernan tagged in Costello, who fared no better. Costello was overpowered by Volkoff, who nailed him with a big boot to the face, then trapped him in a powerful bear hug! Costello was worn down, but refused to submit. Volkoff continued to punish Costello, stomping him repeatedly, then hurling him viciously into the turnbuckle. But as Nikloai moved in for the kill, Costello deftly sidestepped him at the turnbuckle and countered with a sunset flip for a quick three count! WINNERS: THE FABULOUS KANGAROOS(Costello pinned Volkoff with a Sunset Flip)JR: How about that? Costello scored that pinfall out of nowhere! Just when it looked like Sheik and Volkoff were comfortably in control, the tide of the match turned on a dime. Indeed, that was a stunning turn of events. "DR. DEATH" STEVE WILLIAMS vs. OX BAKER (w/ BOBBY HEENAN)This match broke down almost immediately as action spilled outside of the ring. Williams outbrawled Ox and took control, but Heenan distracted Dr. Death and Ox was able to recover and stun Williams with a clothesline. Ox battled back, but Doc stood his ground. The battle wore on both inside the ring and out, before Williams smashed Baker face first onto the steel ring steps! Heenan was livid, screaming at Joe Kopasz while Williams executed the Oklahoma Stampede! Williams made the cover, but Heenan had Kopasz occupied and he was unable to count a pinfall. Angrily, Williams pitched Baker over the top rope, and the brawl resumed on the arena floor! Kopasz furiously counted both men, herding them back into the ring, but the violence escalated as Baker floored Williams with a clothesline and dropped him with a Heart Punch. Williams JUST managed to get his foot under the bottom rope and interrupt the count before Kopasz reached three! Baker slammed his fist to the mat in frustration as Williams fought to recover. Baker pounded away at Williams with kicks and stomps, but Doc rallied his strength as the fans cheered. Doc made it to his feet and attempted to whip the big Ox into the turnbuckle. But Baker stood his ground in the center of the ring, reversing the momentum and sending Doc hurtling to the corner. Doc slammed into the turnbuckle and bounced back full speed. With Baker still off-balance, Doc exploded onto him with a powerful running lariat, putting him down for a three-count! WINNER: "DR. DEATH" STEVE WILLIAMS(Williams pinned Baker after a Running Lariat)JR: No question about it! That was one of the most competitive and exciting matches we've seen in the new era of the Heartland! I thought that Dr. Death was finished after that Heart Punch, but Doc found the will to keep on fighting and came away your winner in tonight's outstanding main event! Fans, we thank you for joining us here tonight. We'll be back on Monday with another exciting night of Heartland Wrestling, as our Heavyweight Championship Tournament moves on to round two! Earlier this week, we saw MIKE QUACKENBUSH score a trmentdous win over a mammoth opponent in UNCLE ELMER. Can Quack continue to be a giant killer? Tune in Monday as he faces the enormous DON LEO JONATHAN in a second round showdown! Also on Monday night, you'll see a volatile grudge match pitting Heartland's number one benefactor, COUSIN LUKE, against the man who viciously assaulted him one week ago, the NECRO BUTCHER! Until then, fans, so long from the Buckeye State!

NWA Heartland Card #146 Dayton Gym Club, Dayton, Ohio July 14, 2008 The show opens with JR JAMES in the ring, holding a microphone. A crowd of nearly 200 people is present in the antiquated Gym Club, but the arena is abuzz with the new lighting and the NWA Heartland Banner strewn proudly over the ring.JR: Good evening, fans, and welcome to NWA Heartland Wrestling! We are proud to enter round two of our Heavyweight Championship tournament tonight. Let's get the action started! (Tonight's referee: Joe Kopasz)PEPPER GOMEZ vs. UNCLE ELMERThe biggest of all Hillbillies simply overpowered Gomez and squashed him with a Hillbilly Splash. WINNER: UNCLE ELMER(Elmer pinned Gomez after a Hillbilly Splash)JR: That's one enormous man! Tipping the scales at 484 pounds, he was over twice the size of his opponent! TOM PRICHARD vs. "THE PSYCHO SHOOTER" DRAKE YOUNGERThe crafty Prichard controlled much of this match, and nearly put away Younger with a hard punch after wrapping his fist in a small chain. But Younger recovered in time to lift his knees as Prichard tried a deathjump, stunning his opponent long enough to set up the Drake's Landing Vertebreaker abd score the pinfall. WINNER: DRAKE YOUNGER(Younger pinned Prichard after the Drake's Landing)JR: Younger is one of the "Rejects" who didn't get a contract from Mr. Cornette, but he certainly showed some ability and a fine finishing manuever in that match! THE MIDNIGHT EXPRESS (BOBBY EATON & DENNIS CONDREY w/ JIM CORNETTE) vs. THE FABULOUS KANGAROOS (AL COSTELLO & ROY HEFFERNAN w/ WILD RED BERRY)In a matchup for the ages, the Kangaroos outfoxed the Midnights! Condrey absorbed a significant amount of punishment, and was nearly pinned in the early stages were it not for the distracting tactics of Jim Cornette. Condrey managed to escape his predicament and tag Eaton, but timely interference by Wild Red Berry kept the match in the Aussies' favor. Roy Heffernan was able to set up Eaton and deliver a vicious Boomerang! Heffernan made the cover as Costello intercepted Dennis Condrey and referee Kopasz made the three-count. WINNERS: THE FABULOUS KANGAROOS(Heffernan pinned Eaton after a Boomerang)JR: Congratulations to the Fabulous Kangaroos! This team won the Legends of Wrestling Tag Team Tournament at Galacticon 2008, and the winning ways continue for Costello and Heffernan here in Dayton tonight. HEARTLAND HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT: ROUND 2 JIMMY "SUPERFLY" SNUKA vs. "THE ANARCHIST" ARIK CANNONAfter a chaotic match, it was the Superfly who came out victorious over the Anarchist. The match was more competitive than expected, as Cannon brawled and pummeled Snuka, but the Superfly chopped Cannon to the mat with a powerful knife-edge and took charge. Snuka whipped Cannon to the corner, but Cannon dodged his flying leap and referee Joe Kopasz was caught in the crossfire! When Kopasz went down, the match broke down to a full-out brawl on the arena floor. Snuka launched himself onto Cannon from the ring apron and both men went down in a heap. Snuka recovered first, and rolled Cannon back into the ring. Jimmy went to the top rope and soared, nailing Cannon with the Superfly Leap, but there was no referee to count the pin! Snuka hollered back to the dressing room, and BIG JIM THE ENFORCER hustled to the ring in his dark suit. Snuka lifted Cannon into the air and dropped him hard across his knee in a backbreaker. Snuka then covered him and Big Jim counted the pin! WINNER: JIMMY "SUPERFLY" SNUKA(Snuka pinned Cannon after a backbreaker)As Big Jim went to check on Joe Kopasz, BOBBY "THE BRAIN" HEENAN trotted down to ringside. Heenan helped Cannon to his feet, then marched to the announce table and took the microphone.Heenan: What's going on here? JR: Snuka is your winner, by pinfall. Heenan: Says who? JR: Big Jim counted the pinfall! Heenan: This guy? He's not an official official! JR: So? Arik Cannon is not an official wrestler! Big Jim is part of the Heartland security team. He's authorized to act in whatever capacity is needed to maintain civility at Heartland events. Heenan moves to Big Jim and points his finger, poking the Enforcer in the chest. Heenan: Listen, goofball, you're no referee. You're just an entry-level, minimum wage ham-and-egger, hired by me, to do a job. If I see you out here again, getting involved in a Heartland match, I will fire you on the spot! Big Jim stands motionless, towering over Heenan with his arms folded across his chest as the Brain rants. Suddenly, a folksy barn dance tune plays, and COUSIN LUKE strolls to the announce table. Luke: Hiya, Mr. Brain! Hello, JJ! How y'all doin'? Heenan: Lousy! My buddy Cannonball here just got screwed out of his match. Luke laughs.Luke: C'mon now, Mr. Brain! Ol' Big Jim don't say much, but he is honest as the day is long. He done the right thing! If my buddy Jim counts, it counts! Luke takes the arm of Snuka and raises it in the air. The crowd cheers as Heenan buries his face in his hands.JR: No question, fans. Money talks! Jimmy Snuka is your winner. And I'm pleased to report that Referee Joe Kopasz has made it back to his feet. He is a professional, and he'll be back in action for our next match! HEARTLAND HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT: ROUND 2 "LIGHTNING" MIKE QUACKENBUSH vs. DON LEO JONATHANBeating UNCLE ELMER was certainly a feather in Quackenbush's cap, but this match was entirely different. The giant Mormon dominated the match from the outset, tossing Quackenbush around the ring like a sack of potatoes. It didn't take long for Jonathan to soften up Quackenbush and finish him with the vaunted Mormon Swing. WINNER: DON LEO JONATHAN(Jonathan forced Quackenbush to submit with the Mormon Swing)JR: Jonathan is a dangerous man indeed! Indeed, there is no question that he is a threat to win this tournament. And now, fans, it is on to the main event, as our good friend Cousin Luke goes to battle against that "Ugly Feller", the NECRO BUTCHER. Before we see that match, the Legend Himself, "WILDMAN" BUTCH MICHAELS, has a video clip of the confrontation between these two men which led to tonight's grudge match. Footage is played from the July 7 Dayton Gym Club show. BOBBY HEENAN dashes into the ring to tend to Cousin Luke. Heenan: Luke! Sir! Are you all right? Luke staggers to his feet. He is bleeding from the forehead, thanks to a nasty gash opened by Necro Butcher. Blood runs down onto his tuxedo, staining his white shirt. Heenan: Oh my word! He holds the bloody shirt over his head and points at the entry way as the fans cheer him on to the chants of "LUKE LUKE LUKE!"GRUDGE MATCH: NO DISQUALIFICATION COUSIN LUKE vs. NECRO BUTCHERThe brawl between these two mountain men was expected to be ugly, and it did not disappoint! With the fans cheering wildly, Cousin Luke launched himself at Necro, dropping him with a mule kick and stomping him furiously. But Necro has been in a few fights in his day, and refused to back down. The Butcher hurled Luke out of the ring and choked him down with an electrical cord. Once again, he chewed open the forehead of Cousin Luke until he bled profusely. Necro then hurled Luke back into the ring and drilled him with an Asiatic Spike. At this point, Luke was beaten badly, and was no match for Necro's Tiger Driver which ended the match. Following the match, Necro Butcher continued to pummel the downed Luke. In an instant, MIKE QUACKENBUSH, SCOTTY VORTEKZ, and DUSTIN LEE dashed into the ring to confront Necro! Close behind came the other Rejects, ARIK CANNON and DRAKE YOUNGER. A hellacious brawl followed, highlighted when Necro grabbed a steel chair and went after Scotty Vortekz! But Vortekz didn't back down, lunging at Necro and spearing him to the mat before the Butcher could deliver the chair shot. Necro and Scotty went after each other, fists and fire, in a fierce battle which spilled throughout the Gym Club. Long after the other four men had ceased their hostilities, Vortekz and Butcher remained in a death grip on each other. Finally, Big Jim the Enforcer made his way to the ring and separated the combatants, shoving Necro out of the ring and wrapping up Scotty in a bear hug in the ring until cooler heads prevailed.WINNER: NECRO BUTCHER(Butcher pinned Luke after a Tiger Driver)JR: Amazing! Wherever this Necro Butcher goes, trouble follows! I thought he and Scotty Vortekz were going to tear this building down from the foundation! Thank heavens that Big Jim was on hand to get that situation under control. Somehow, I don't think we've seen the end of that rivalry! Not only is Necro an unpredictable maniac, but Vortekz is not afraid to mix it up himself. We'll see Scotty in our main event on Friday night as he takes on ARIK CANNON in a no-disqualification showdown! We'll also see a classic showdown in the Heartland Heavyweight Championship tournament as former DWA Heavyweight Champions BOBO BRAZIL and JOHNNY VALENTINE face off in a match you won't want to miss! Until then, fans, so long from the Buckeye State!

Nice Dave! Did Elmer ever try to test out Pepper's "cast iron stomach"?? That would be interesting!

Nice Dave! Did Elmer ever try to test out Pepper's "cast iron stomach"?? That would be interesting! Haven't had much use for the cast iron stomach mechanic yet.... put it will be a fun one to play with!

NWA Heartland Card #147 Dayton Gym Club, Dayton, Ohio July 18, 2008 The show opens with JR JAMES in the ring, accompanied by COUSIN LUKE. BIG JIM, THE ENFORCER stands behind Luke and JR in a dark suit and sunglasses, arms folded across his chest, expressionless. A crowd of about 200 people fills the club as JR addresses the audience.JR: Good evening, fans, and welcome to another exciting edition of NWA Heartland Wrestling. We're proud to be back live at the Dayton Gym Club for tonight's matches! Before tonight's opening contest, my good friend and Heartland benefactor COUSIN LUKE has asked for time to address a situation which took place on Monday night. Luke, my friend, that was a rough match you had against NECRO BUTCHER, and he's not even an official member of the Heartland roster! What is your reaction to that match? Luke: Well, JJ, I ain't so much worried 'bout that. 'Ol Luke has taken a whoopin' before and come back for more. I'll git the best of that Butcher before it's all said and done. What I wanna talk about tonight is what happened to our referee Joe Kopasz. Poor Joe got himself a pretty good lick! I just wanna wish Joe the best and give him tonight off. JR: Well, we all admire Joe Kopasz for the work he does, but we don't have any other referees on the payroll! Heartland Senior Referee JOE KOPASZ strides to the ring. He has a bandage on his forehead and his left arm is in a sling.Kopasz: Thank you, Mr. Luke, but I'm good. I have tonight's matches covered. Luke: Well look at you, little Joe! You look like you been rode hard and hung out wet! You're in no shape to referee tonight! Kopasz: Don't worry about me, sir. It only takes one arm to count a pinfall. Luke laughs out loud. He grins broadly and slaps Kopasz on the back. Joe winces as Luke turns to JR.Luke: See, JJ, that's what I love about this guy. He's a gamer! But y'all need more than one referee to control this bunch. Let's hire another one! How about that cute little ol' blond gal that used to be a referee here? JR: Heather Owens? She got married and retired. A commotion arises backstage as BOBBY HEENAN marches to the ring, accompanied by DANNY DAVIS.Heenan: Luke, sir, do you need a new referee? I've got just the guy for you! Cousin Luke, meet Danny Davis. Luke: Pleased to meet you, Mr. Davis, sir. Now get out. Heenan: Get out? Luke: I seen this feller referee before, Bobby. He's crooked as a three-dollar bill. We don't need his kind around here. Now GIT! Davis rolls his eyes and leaves the ring. As he parts the curtain, we see JIM CORNETTE emerge, accompanied by TIM DONAGHY.Cornette: Luke! I got your guy right here! He's an experienced referee on the world's greatest stage. Say hello to Tim Donaghy! Luke: An NBA referee? Brother, you got yourself a job! Luke reaches to shake the hand of Donaghy, but the referee is suddenly interrupted by the ringing of his cell phone. He takes the call, then quickly reaches into his pocket for a pad and pencil and begins scribbling notes. Donaghy puts his hand over his phone and glances at Cornette.Donaghy: Um, sorry Mr. Cornette, something just came up. I'll get back to you on your offer. Donaghy scurries out of the Gym Club.JR: Well, I guess that's strike three. Kopasz: JR? How about Brady Boone? He did an excellent job last time through. JR: Good thinking, Joe! Wanna give him a call? Kopasz: I'll get right on it, sir. He'll be here in ten minutes! Luke: Good job, buddy! JJ, you were right about this Kopasz feller, he's a pro! JR: No question about that! Now, let's get to tonight's matches. (Tonight's referee: Brady Boone)TONY ATLAS vs. NECRO BUTCHERIn a very entertaining, back-and-forth battle, Atlas and Necro pounded each other mercilessly. Atlas dominated the early stages of the contest, overpowering Necro. But the Butcher managed to force the action to the outside, where he clobbered Mr. USA repeatedly with headbutts and the Asiatic Spike. But Necro was unable to finish Atlas, and Brady Boone managed to corral the match back into the ring. Atlas again took control, stunning Necro with a skullcrusher and powering him down with a Gorilla Slam to record the victory. WINNER: TONY ATLAS(Atlas pinned Necro Butcher after a Gorilla Slam)JR: What a fine match for Tony Atlas! For a while, I thought we would never see him again. Necro Butcher is a vicious man when the match breaks down, indeed. But Atlas managed to regain control of the pace of the match, and use his power to defeat the maniac. THE HIGH ROLLERS (DIAMOND DALLAS PAGE & PLAYBOY BUDDY ROSE) vs. THE FOREIGN LEGION (IRON SHEIK & NIKOLAI VOLKOFF w/ NIKITA BREZNIKOV)In a rematch from the tag team tournament, the Rollers once again took the measure of Volkoff and the Sheik! The foreigners held the advantage early, as Volkoff punished DDP. Page finally got the tag, but Volkoff immediately hurled him out of the ring. As Nikolai pursued him, Rose tossed a steel chair into his path, stunning the big Russian. Uncharacteristically, Brady Boone allowed the match to continue. Nikita Breznikov was incensed, angrily confronting Boone. But the confrontation didn't help, as Rose and Page took advantage, hitting Volkoff with a double-team Russian Leg Sweep. As Boone returned to the ring, Rose cut off the Sheik and allowed Page to score the pinfall. WINNERS: THE HIGH ROLLERS(Page pinned Volkoff after a double-team Russian Leg Sweep)JR: The High Rollers have done it again! Volkoff and the Iron Sheik are now 0-2 against the free-spirited American duo. No question, I am as surprised as anyone. Anyone, except Nikita Breznikov! OX BAKER (w/ BOBBY "THE BRAIN" HEENAN) vs. TITO SANTANAA major upset! Santana dodged and weaved, avoiding the power moves of the big Ox. Tito unleashed a barrage of dropkicks, finally putting the big man down to the mat. Santana immediately went to the figure-4, and it appeared Ox was about to tap out! But Bobby Heenan managed to assist Baker to grab the bottom rope and break the hold. Undaunted, Tito went to the ropes and slammed the injured Baker to the canvas with a flying crossbody block to catch the duke! WINNER: TITO SANTANA(Santana pinned Baker after a Flying Crossbody Block)JR: Amazing! Who would have expected Santana to beat big Ox Baker? Just last week, Tito almost got his head handed to him by Bruiser Brody. Perhaps Bobby Heenan should have been scouting that match a little more closely. But indeed, tonight your winner is Tito Santana! It appears that Baker is hobbled a bit as he leaves the ring. He appears to be favoring his left leg, most likely the result of the figure-4 leglock. Bobby Heenan is taking him back to the trainers' room for a look at that knee. THE KILLER BEES (B. BRIAN BLAIR & JIM BRUNZELL) vs. TEAM CANADA (THE MOUNTIE & ANGELO MOSCA)Once again, the match was dominated by the power of Mosca! Big Angelo dominated both of the Bees, who resorted to frequent tags to maintain their energy. Mosca nearly took Brunzell's head off with a running clothesline! But Blair tagged in, and a winded Mosca brought Mountie into the match. Mountie caught Blair with the Short Choke Slam for a two-count. Blair escaped the cover and headed to the floor, where Mountie pursued him. Frustrated over his inability to finish Blair, Mountie zapped him with the Shock Stick and Brady Boone immediately called for the disqualification. Still not satisfied, Mountie activated a second shock to the fallen Blair! Blair collapsed on the floor, forcing Boone to come to his aid. Brunzell jumped onto his partner to protect him as Boone escorted Mountie back to the locker room.WINNERS: THE KILLER BEES (Mountie disqualified for using the Shock Stick on Blair)JR: What got into this Mountie? No question, he is unpredictable, and I daresay a little unbalanced. The Canadians had that match well in hand before Mountie lost his head and got his team disqualified. Now, let's move ahead to the second round matches in the Heavyweight Championship tournament! HEARTLAND HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP: ROUND 2 RAY "THE CRIPPLER" STEVENS (w/ BOBBY "THE BRAIN" HEENAN) vs. HACKSAW JIM DUGGANStevens caught fire in this match, taking Duggan down at the opening bell and wailing on him relentlessly. Duggan never really managed to get anything going, and Stevens put him away after two Bombs Away. WINNER: RAY "THE CRIPPLER" STEVENS(Stevens pinned Duggan after the Bombs Away)JR: I honestly expected a much more competitive match in that situation, no question. But Stevens got the drop on Hacksaw and that was all she wrote. This next match promises to be a very competitive bout between two very capable individuals. Oh, and fans, I have just learned that those two individuals are brawling in the back stage area! Wildman Butch Michaels, what's going on? Butch: JR, these two are beating each other senseless! Bobo came after Johnny back here, but Valentine came out fighting and we now have a pier-six brawl! My good friend, Senior Referee Joe Kopasz, along with Big Jim the Enforcer seem to have this situation under control. Both these guys are a little worse for the wear, but both are determined to get the better of this next match! JR: Thanks, Butch! You know, we really ought to try and get another camera. Wildman is a fine broadcaster, but the verbal descriptions probably didn't do that situation justice. Bobo has been known to stir things up backstage, but indeed Johnny Valentine is a man who takes a step back from no one! Both men are in the ring now. It looks like Valentine's right eye is swollen, but Bobo seems to be favoring the left side of his rib cage, so Johnny must have gotten in a few good shots of his own. Now, let's see the real action! HEARTLAND HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP: ROUND 2 JOHNNY VALENTINE vs. BOBO BRAZIL (w/ SLICK)The hostilities continued to boil over even as the match got under way. Valentine seemed to have the edge for much of the early going, trapping Bobo in a vicious abdominal stretch to punish the injured ribs. Valentine nailed Brazil with the Atomic Skullcrusher and caught a near fall! Bobo took a powder, but Valentine followed. Still enraged about the brawl backstage, Valentine took Bobo by the back of the head and smashed him onto the announcers' table! Brady Boone immediately called for the bell and disqualified Valentine for the blatant infraction. WINNER: BOBO BRAZIL(Valentine disqualified for outside the ring attack)JR: What a disappointing match. As a wrestling purist, I was looking forward to that contest, no question about that. But Mr. Brazil, I believe, managed to get under Johnny's skin and in the end, that was his undoing. So, Brazil moves ahead in the tournament along with Ray Stevens tonight! And finally, we will finish the show with a match that is NOT for the wrestling purist. The young fellows from the indy circuit, who were signed by Jim Cornette, have drawn the ire of some of their compadres who were not as fortunate. Cornette's guys have taken to calling themselves, " THE INDEPENDENT ICONS", mainly as a dig on the so-called " REJECTS". And tonight, we will see the latest in a series of angry confrontations between these factions as SCOTTY VORTEKZ, representing the Icons, squares off in a no-disqualification match against ARIK CANNON.GRUDGE MATCH: NO DISQUALIFICATION ARIK CANNON vs. SCOTTY VORTEKZThese bitter rivals went all out! The match began with Scotty in control, unleashing an athletic array of dropkicks and flying scissors. But when Scotty went for a monkey flip in the corner, Cannon reversed the tables and planted him with an awesome Exploder! The match turned at this point, as the power of Cannon took control. Cannon took the match to the floor, brutally pounding on Vortekz and turning him upside down with a vicious running clothesline. Fully in control, Arik threw Vortekz back into the ring and began pounding him brutally into the canvas. But Scotty rallied and battled back to his feet, managing to hurl Cannon out of the ring. Sensing his last opportunity, Scotty took to the air, attempting a springboard clothesline onto the arena floor. But Cannon was prepared, and ducked away, leaving Scotty to smash awkwardly onto the security rail. Cannon rolled back into the ring, but Vortekz was unable to recover before the ten-count. WINNER: ARIK CANNON(Countout)Following the match, DUSTIN LEE dashed to the ring to check on his fallen partner. Lee and Cannon exchanged glares, but no further aggression took place. Dustin was able to help Scotty back to his feet and assist him back to the locker room as the show closed.JR: Indeed, that match was an all-out, pier-six brawl, just as we expected. Scotty Vortekz has proved time and again that he is not afraid to take chances and he will back down from no one. He came out on the short end tonight, but he still has one NECRO BUTCHER in his sights and you had better believe that will be one violent confrontation. Fans, we thank you for joining us tonight for NWA Heartland Wrestling. We'll be back on Monday night with the conclusion of round two of the Heartland Heavyweight Championship Tournament. We'll see two exciting matches from that tournament as HILLBILLY JIM takes on "DR. DEATH" STEVE WILLIAMS, and L ARRY ZBYSZKO tests his mettle against the powerful BRUISER BRODY. Until then, fans, so long from the Buckeye State! cotg.proboards12.com/index.cgi?board=lowcards&action=display&thread=1160019897

NWA Heartland Card #148 Dayton Gym Club, Dayton, Ohio July 21, 2008 The show opens with JR JAMES in the ring, accompanied by COUSIN LUKE. A crowd of nearly 200 people fills the Gym Club, and the energy level is high as JR addresses the crowd.JR: Good evening, fans, and welcome back to another exciting night of Heartland Wrestling action! I am honored to be here tonight with my good friend and Heartland Wrestling benefactor, Cousin Luke. Thank you, sir, for all the support you have provided in bringing Heartland wrestling back to action! Luke: Think nothing of it, JJ! What's goin' on tonight? JR: I'm glad you asked, Luke. We have two big matches in the Heartland Heavyweight Championship tournament! Your own kin, HILLBILLY JIM, is set to face "DR. DEATH" STEVE WILLIAMS! And in our main event, LARRY ZBYSZKO will face BRUISER BRODY! What are your thoughts about those matches? Luke: My cousin Jim has a rough row to hoe tonight, JJ! JR: That remains to be seen, Luke. Let's head to the ring! (Tonight's referee: Joe Kopasz)FRITZ von GOERING (w/ NIKITA BREZNIKOV) vs. THE DESTROYERFritz took the early advantage, outmanuevering Destroyer and nearly forcing him to submit to a backbreaker. But Destroyer fought back, taking the match out of the ring and punishing von Goering. Nikita Breznikov tried to interfere on behalf of his man, but Destroyer hurled Fritz back into the ring and continued the onslaught. When Destroyer trapped von Goering in a single-leg Boston Crab, Breznikov jumped onto the ring apron and accosted Joe Kopasz! Kopasz would hear none of it, and EJECTED Brenikov from ringside! Destroyer kept his focus, wrapping Fritz into the figure-4 in the center if the ring and forcing his submission. WINNER: THE DESTROYER(Submission via Figure-4 leglock)JR: Destroyer looked great in that match! He lost the shot at the Heartland Title in a rugged battle against DON LEO JONATHAN, but you can bet that he will have his name back in contention before much longer. THE NAPTOWN DRAGONS (SCOTTY VORTEKZ & DIEHARD DUSTIN LEE) vs. BOB & BRAD ARMSTRONGThe Armstrongs handled the Dragons with little difficulty. Dustin Lee was isolated and roughed up pretty badly, but finally managed to tag in Vortekz. With his partner incapacitated, Scotty found himself at the mercy of both Armstrongs. Vortekz fought gamely before eventually succumbing to the Bob Armstrong sleeper. WINNERS: THE ARMSTRONGS(Bob Armstrong knocked out Scotty Vortekz with a sleeper hold)JR: A fine victory for the father-son combination of the Armstrongs. Indeed, there is a great deal of tradition represented by that duo. The Dragons fought hard, no question, and it is my considered opinion that the future remains bright for those young men. DELIRIOUS vs. TAKESHI MORISHIMAIn a battle of former rivals turned tag team partners, Morishima took no mercy and dominated his friend. In desperation, Delirious went for a slingshot plancha, but Morishima had it scouted. The giant Japanese cleverly sidestepped his flying opponent, and Delirious crashed hard to the arena floor. From there, a single Saito Suplex finished the match for the big man. WINNER: TAKESHI MORISHIMA(Via pinfall after a Saito Suplex)JR: The rivalry between these two continues! There was no quarter given in that match, and neither competitor would have it any other way. SPECIAL CHALLENGE MATCH "BEAUTIFUL" BOBBY EATON (w/ JIM CORNETTE) vs. "PLAYBOY" BUDDY ROSEEaton and Rose took up the heat where they left off, battling tooth and nail. A miscalculation by Cornette nearly cost Eaton, as he missed with his tennis racket. Rose clotheslined Cornette off the apron, then turned and speared a confused Eaton to the canvas. The move put Rose firmly in control of the bout, but the resilient Eaton battled back and got back to his feet. It was Rose who made the last mistake, missing Eaton with a charge to the turnbuckle, allowing Beautiful Bobby to roll him up for a surprise pin! WINNER: "BEAUTIFUL" BOBBY EATON(Eaton pinned Rose after a failed turnbuckle splash)JR: This fellow Bobby Eaton is a winner, no question! The intensity of this matchup was palpable, and I don't think the Rollers and the Midnights are quite finished yet! Now let's head to the final two matches of Round Two of the Heartland Heavyweight Championship Tournament! HEARTLAND HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT: ROUND 2 HILLBILLY JIM vs. "DR. DEATH" STEVE WILLIAMSDr. Death was never really threatened in this match. Although Hillbilly Jim is one of the few men whose strength is on par with Williams', Jim could not match his intensity nor his aggression. Jim managed to survive an Oklahoma Stampede, but Williams blasted him from out of nowhere with a standing dropkick for a stunning pinfall! WINNER: "DR. DEATH" STEVE WILLIAMS(Williams pinned Jim after a Standing Dropkick)JR: Wow! Dr. Death is an explosive wrestler! He is a major threat to bring home the gold. The action in this tournament is heating up! Now, let's look at the final match of round 2! HEARTLAND HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT: ROUND 2 BRUISER BRODY vs. LARRY ZBYSZKO (w/ BOBBY HEENAN)Mayhem in the Main Event! Zbyszko did his best to stall and to slow the pace of the match, but the fury and the power of Brody was too much. Once Brody caught Zbyszko, the pummeling started. Zbyszko took a powder, and Heenan got involved. The Brain jumped on the back of Brody in the ring, and Brody slammed him viciously to the mat! Heenan was clearly injured, but Zbyszko took advantage of the distraction and caught Brody with a cheap shot from behind! Zbyszko floored Brody with a nunchucks shot to the back of the knee! Zbyszko tried to choke Brody down with the nunchucks, but Brody powered out! Brody turned the tables, ripping the nunchucks away from Zbyszko and blasting him with a vicious shot to the ribs. Zbyszko and Heenan quickly slid from the ring and high-tailed it back to the locker room! WINNER: BRUISER BRODY(Disqualification)JR: What a battle! Larry Zbyszko has bitten of more than he can chew, in my opinion. But he is crafty and I don't think he'll come at this mauler without a plan! And you can bet your bottom dollar, Bobby the Brain Heenan will be part of the plan. Luke, how about that match? Luke: These two need to have a rematch! JR: No question about it. I'm sure their paths will cross again. Luke: A match like that deserves to be on television! JR: Television? Heartland Wrestling has been off the air for months! We're only getting a couple of hundred people at the Gym Club, Luke. With all due respect, we're not ready for television. Luke: Leave that to me, JJ. I got people! JR: You've got people? Luke: I sure do! JR: I believe that when I see it. Fans, you just never know what the Heartland will have in store next. One thing I do know- we'll be back on Friday night with another night of Heartland action! Until then, fans, so long from the Buckeye State!

NWA Heartland Card #149 Dayton Gym Club, Dayton, Ohio July 25, 2008 The show opens with JR JAMES in the ring, accompanied by COUSIN LUKE.JR: Good evening, fans, and welcome to tonight's NWA Heartland show! We are proud to be back here at the Dayton Gym Club with another exciting night of action! This is the 149th regular show in the history of the Heartland. We've also just welcomed our 5000th viewer to the Ingersoll network, so business in the Heartland continues to grow. Luke: 149 shows? That's pretty daggone good, JJ! That's like halfway to 200! JR: No question about that, Luke. And we're planning to make show number 150 something special, for the loyal base of fans who have supported Heartland wrestling, even through some of the tough times. Luke: Good idea, JJ. I have some ideas that might make the special show even specialer! JR: Really? What might make the show specialer? Er- more special? Luke: Just you wait and see, good buddy. Who's fighting tonight? JR: I'm glad you asked! Tonight we'll see the beginning of round 3 of the Heartland Heavyweight Tournament. BRUISER BRODY is going to take on RAY "THE CRIPPLER" STEVENS. We'll also see a special no-disqualification match between "DIEHARD" DUSTIN LEE and "THE PSYCHO SHOOTER" DRAKE YOUNGER as the battle between the Independent Icons and the Rejects rages on! Now, let's head to the ring for tonight's matches. (Tonight's referee: Joe Kopasz)PEPPER GOMEZ vs. FRITZ VON GOERING (w/ NIKITA BREZNIKOV)Nikita Breznikov made the difference in this match! Gomez was solidly in control after nearly knocking von Goering old cold with a devastating sleerhold. Pepper attempted to finish off von Goering with a Mexican cradle, but Breznikov jumped onto the ring apron and distracted Joe Kopasz before he could count the pin. After Kopasz argued with Breznikov, the manager slipped a hammer out of his pocket and slid it to von Goering. Fritz nailed Gomez across the shoulder blades, then scooped him up and slammed him down with a backbreaker to finish the victory! WINNER: FRITZ VON GOERING(von Goering pinned Gomez after a backbreaker)JR: Very crafty! You may not agree with the tactics of Nikita Breznikov and his Foreign Legion, but no question his strategy paid off tonight with devastating effectiveness. TITO SANTANA vs. HILLBILLY JIMIn contrast to the ugly opening bout, Santana and Jim put on a competitive and highly sporting contest. Jim appeared to have the advantage after flooring Tito with a big boot, but Santana deftly reversed an attempted knee lift, pulling Jim down with a sunset flip for a surprise pinfall! WINNER: TITO SANTANA(Santana pinned Hillbilly after a Sunset Flip)JR: A fine athletic move by Santana! Indeed, Tito surprised the big hillbilly, and in three seconds the match was over. TEAM CANADA (THE MOUNTIE & ANGELO MOSCA) vs. THE MIDNIGHT EXPRESS (BOBBY EATON & DENNIS CONDREY w/ JIM CORNETTE)This match broke down from the outset! Before the introductions were completed, PLAYBOY BUDDY ROSE came to ringside and began taunting Beautiful Bobby! Jim Cornette took umbrage and took after Rose with his tennis racket! As Joe Kopasz rang the bell to start the match, Rose dodged Cornette and slid into the ring! Eaton grabbed Cornette's tennis racket and went after Rose, but the Playboy ducked the blow. The racket smacked onto the top rope, and ricocheted directly back into Beautiful Bobby, catching him squarely between the eyes! Eaton staggered around the ring in a daze, where the Mountie caught him and planted him with a Short Choke Slam! Before Condrey or Cornette realized what had happened, Mountie made the cover and Kopasz made the three count! WINNERS: TEAM CANADA(Mountie pinned Eaton after a Short Choke Slam)JR: Oh, my goodness! In all my days, I have never seen such a bizarre turn of events! Just like that, Team Canada is your winner, and the Midnights are yet another step further down the ladder in the tag team division. It's been a tough run for Mr. Cornette, first seeing STAN LANE injured in the tag tournament, and now seeing his Midnights drop yet another decision. ARIK CANNON vs. MIKE QUACKENBUSHIn a highly entertaining and closely matched contest, Cannon and Quackenbush traded the advantage and worked each other intensely. Cannon punished Quack with a pair of Exploder suplexes, but Quackenbush took to the mats and wore down his foe with a one-legged Boston Crab. Cannon reached the bottom rope to break the hold, but then missed with a savate kick. Quackenbush caught Cannon off balance and planted him on the canvas with a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker to score the pinfall. WINNER: MIKE QUACKENBUSH(Quackenbush pinned Cannon after a Tilt-a-Whirl backbreaker)JR: I have to admit it, fans, I am impressed! Quackenbush is truly an icon of the independent scene, but Cannon showed a lot of ability and resilience tonight. His reputation was esatablished after a classic bout with Chris Hero which was well-documented on the Internet. I daresay, this "Anarchist" may be the first of the so-called "Rejects" to earn himself a Heartland Contract! These next two, I am not so sure about. GRUDGE MATCH: NO DISQUALIFICATION "DIEHARD" DUSTIN LEE vs. "THE PSYCHO SHOOTER" DRAKE YOUNGERYounger continues to feel betrayed that his old ally Lee was signed to a contract, but Drake was not. Younger came after Lee with a fury, and subdued him in the early going with punches and headbutts leading to a vicious spinebuster slam. But Younger got too aggressive, charging at Lee on the ropes. Dustin cleverly hurled Younger backward, hot-shotting him onto the top rope. From that point, the "Diehard" took control. After stunning Younger with a swinging DDT, Lee went to the Harddrive. It took three tries to put away the Psycho Shooter, but Lee was up to the task and managed to get the job done. WINNER: "DIEHARD" DUSTIN LEE(Lee pinned Younger after the Harddrive)JR: Another very competitive and intense showdown between the Icons and the Rejects. And another win for the Icons! Looks like Mr. Cornette really knew what he was doing when he signed the Dragons and Quackenbush. Now, let's get to the Main Event! HEARTLAND HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT: ROUND 3 BRUISER BRODY vs. RAY "CRIPPLER" STEVENS (w/ BOBBY HEENAN)Brody came to the ring with his left knee taped, following last week's confrontation with LARRY ZBYSZKO. Stevens went after the knee like a shark, kicking low and taking Brody's legs out with a dropkick to the injured leg. Brody responded with a fury, flinging Stevens to the mat and dropping the healthy leg across Stevens' neck! The Crippler was stunned, and powerless to avoid the Jumping Knee Drop which followed. Joe Kopasz counted the pinfall, but Heenan interrupted by puliing Stevens' leg over the bottom rope! But Kopasz wasn't fooled, and immediately called for the DQ. WINNER: BRUISER BRODY(Brody by DQ after Heenan interference)After the disqualification, LARRY ZBYSZKO stormed the ring with his nunchucks and took after Brody! Stevens held Brody by the good loeg, and Zbyszko slammed the injured knee of the Bruiser repeatedly with the nunchucks! Brody did his best to fight back, but the duo of Stevens and Zbyszko was ruthless, ripping the tape off the injured leg and pounding away! Even BIG JIM THE ENFORCER struggled to fight his way past Heenan and assist the fallen Brody. Finally, Zbyszko and Stevens decided their work was done, and departed the ring with Heenan, laughing and scoffing as Brody lay injured on the mat.JR: That is reprehensible! Twice in a row, Heenan's men have attacked Bruiser Brody- with a weapon, for heaven's sake! Brody looks to have some serious damage to that knee. He is your winner, and will move forward in the tournament, but whether he will be able to continue to compete remains to be seen. Brody won the battle, but Heenan may have won the war. Fans, it has been a most disturbing night for the Heartland, but not without hope. The next card will be number 150 in the history of the Heartland, and Cousin Luke has promised to make it a special night. What lies in store? Come back on Monday night and see for yourselves! Until then, fans, so long from the Buckeye State!

NWA Heartland Card #150 Montgomery County Fairgrounds Coliseum, Dayton, Ohio July 28, 2008 The show opens as JR JAMES strides to the ring with COUSIN LUKE. The card is being held in a nicer facility, with the Heartland Logo displayed proudly over the ring. An enthusiastic crowd of about 300 people fills the arena, applauding JR and Luke as they address the crowd.JR: What can I say, Mr. Luke? You've really outdone yourself. The Heartland territory continues to get better, thanks to your support! Luke: Happy to help, JJ. Did you see up there? (Luke points to the rafters.)JR: That's... a TELEVISION CAMERA! Are we on television? Luke: You're darn tootin', JJ. I signed us up for all three networks! JR: Three networks? Heartland has been on the Ingersoll network... and the new Filsinger network... Luke: And now, The Greatest Network in the Galaxy! JR: I don't believe it! Luke: Believe it, JJ, this territory ain't nuttin' if it ain't on SwarmTV. JR: Fans, this is a hallmark day since the return of Heartland Wrestling! We have a loaded show for tonight- Luke: Oh, JJ? I did change some matches tonite, if you don't mind. There's some boys back there that really need to get in the ring and settle some things. JR: Oooooooookay. Are we still having a tag title match? Luke: Oh yes! That'll be our main event! JR: Outstanding! I can't wait to see what else you have in store for us! (Tonight's referee: Joe Kopasz)GRUDGE MATCH: NO DISQUALIFICATION DIAMOND DALLAS PAGE vs. DENNIS CONDREY (w/ JIM CORNETTE)The war between the High Rollers and the Midnight Express continued in the opening bout as Page and Condrey locked horns. Condrey punished Page from the opening bell, with timely interference from Cornette. But seemingly out of nowhere, Page connected with the Diamond Cutter and Condrey was on Dream Street! Cornette managed to distract Joe Kopasz long enough for Condrey to escape the three-count. Condrey fled the ring, but Page followed. Page shoved aside Cornette, and floored Condrey with a vicious right hand! Page slid Condrey back into the ring and dropped him with a second Diamond Cutter and covered him for the victory. Following the match, Cornette got to his feet and climbed back into the ring. Page turned to face him, and BOBBY EATON slippied into the ring from behind and clipped DDP across the left knee! Page went down hard, and Eaton and Condrey immediately went to work. The Midnights knee-dropped the injured leg repeatedly, and Cornette got in a few shots of his own with the tennis racket, leaving Page laying in the ring and clutching his knee as the Midnights laughed and departed together.WINNER: DIAMOND DALLAS PAGE(Page pinned Condrey after a Diamond Cutter)JR: I am disgusted! Three against one? And the co-owner of the company, for that matter? Believe it or not, I thought that Cornette had become the voice of reason in this territory, but no question he has showed his true colors. Our next match will be for the #1 Contenders' position for the Heartland Tag Team Championship! The KILLER BEES will take on THE FABULOUS KANGAROOS for a shot at the belts. Unfortunately, I don't think B. BRIAN BLAIR is at full strength, as the result of an attack by THE MOUNTIE. Before we head back to the ring, let's check in with Wildman Butch Michaels to review some footage of that incident. Footage is played from the Bees- Team Canada matchup from July 18. Brunzell jumped onto his partner to protect him as Boone escorted Mountie back to the locker room.NWA HEARTLAND TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP: #1 CONTENDERS' MATCH THE KILLER BEES vs. THE FABULOUS KANGAROOS (AL COSTELLO & ROY HEFFERNAN w/ WILD RED BERRY)With Blair still slowed, Brunzell took it upon himself to carry the load. The Kangaroos controlled the match, tagging frequently and keeping Brunzell isolated. The Aussies flattened Brunzell with the Boomerang and Heffernan covered him before Blair could interfere. WINNERS: THE FABULOUS KANGAROOS(Heffenan pinned Brunzell after the Boomerang)JR: What a shame. I would love to see these two teams hook up with all four men at full strength. But the quest for the gold is all about timing, and tonight it was the Kangaroos who were in the driver's seat. They'll face the winners of tonight's tag team title match for the championship! GRUDGE MATCH: NO DISQUALIFICATION SCOTTY VORTEKZ vs. NECRO BUTCHERScotty opened this grudge match on fire! He pummeled Necro with a flurry of kicks and arm drags, stunning him with an enzuigiri and flooring him with a Cyclone Kick! Necro escaped the ring, but Scotty went to the air and nailed him with a flying clothesline. Necro absorbed a ton of punishment and kept on fighting, but Scotty kept on the offensive and planted him with the Dragonfly to complete the pinfall. WINNER: SCOTTY VORTEKZ(Vortekz pinned Necro after a Dragonfly)JR: Wow! Scotty has never looked better! This guy is fearless, even against the most dangerous men in the Heartland. But rest assured, Necro will be back and it will be brutal! GRUDGE MATCH: NO DISQUALIFICATION BOBO BRAZIL vs. JOHNNY VALENTINEIn a brawl that spanned over 40 minutes and a combined 12 fatigue tokens, Bobo finally prevailed over Valentine with a chair smash outside of the ring! WINNER: BOBO BRAZIL(Brazil pinned Valentine after a Coco Butt)JR: What an epic battle! Neither of those two showed any sign of backing down. They could have gone another hour if Bobo hadn't taken out Johnny with the steel chair. Indeed, either of these men would be a serious threat to the Heartland Heavyweight Championship- if they can get beyond the issue they have with each other! MAIN EVENT: NWA HEARTLAND TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIPTHE NEW AGE OUTLAWS (C) vs. OX BAKER & LARRY ZBYSZKO (w/ BOBBY HEENAN)Ox Baker was the dominant force in this match! The big Ox dominated both Outlaws, tossing them from pillar to post. After beating down BG, Baker manhandled Kip and put him down for the count with a massive Heart Punch! WINNERS: OX BAKER & LARRY ZBYSZKO - NEW HEARTLAND TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS(Baker pinned Kip after a Heart Punch)JR: Oh, my goodness! History has been made right here at the Fairgrounds Coliseum! New tag team champions have been crowned! BOBBY HEENAN is celebrating with his men as they strap on the belts! Ox Baker just DOMINATED that contest. Congratulations to Ox, and to Zbyszko, and yes, to Bobby Heenan. I'm sure we won't hear the end of this when we return on Friday night! Fans, it's been great to be with you hear tonight from our new venue- and great to be back on the air! We'll see you Friday with another action-packed show. Until then, fans, so long from the Buckeye State!
