A Chikara fan with no prior FG experience isn't going to be aware of "Rahl" ratings or power-level comparisons to other wrestlers in the FG universe. As long as the wrestlers in the set are levelled correctly in relation to their position in the fed, a Chikara fan should be happy.
While they may not be aware of "Rahl" ratings, I'm sure most have the aptitude to know when a card is a "good card" or not. I know when I first purchased the game 14 years ago, it didn't take much time to realize Star Warrior and Thantos were not your average cards. Limiting a set to the below 30 Rahl ratings, it won't take much time for a casual, new player to realize the set is too balanced if an active "beast" in Chikara is beaten on a regular basis by lower tier wrestlers of their favorite promotion.
I believe this endeavor is to suck in new buyers, which is why the partnership is huge. Chikara will be promoting Filsinger Games at their promotion! Nothing wrong with their cards being jacked up for their stand alone fed.
Obviously Quackenbush has knowledge of the game, I doubt he'd like to hear that every member of the Chikara set is on the level of a George Steele or Hillybilly Jim card. Knowing Chikara I doubt you'd have a Thesz or Andre level, but with their focus on tag and six, I wouldn't mind seeing a Midnight Express level tag team.
Again, JMO but I think the set should fit Chikara and Chikara alone. Either way, I'll buy as always.
Agreed. I plan to use the cards, depending on their strengths, in my fed. I'd like to see a series of matches between Tim Donst and Brent Albright.
